Vallel to Meghan

The following is the lyric to the song Glossaria wrote to Vallel for their wedding, and I think it's quite a piece of work! Enjoy.

I try to write of you, Vallel, and fail;
My wasted eloquence litters the ground.
My pen is dry of ink, to no avail
As every stanza's imperfection's found.

I borrow words to say that "I love you,"
Those three, alone, are said a thousand times,
A thousand different ways as lovers woo;
So I am left with others' used-up rhymes.

Bards sing "the very ecstasy of love,"
Compare love's need to water, breath, or rain,
But even these conspire not to prove
The depth of feeling I have for you gained.

What words will serve, what lexicon of art?
A Library of ages at my call
And still I cannot catalog my heart;
There are not words enough to tell it all.

I've been through every book, they're not enough.
I ache to speak of what words can't convey
So still my lips with yours, Vallel, my love,
And hear, in silence, what I cannot say.
