* Aeryn approaches the Hall sometime after his work shift, somewhat later than has been his habit as of recently. Stopping by the door, he whispers to the lock and slips through.

* Summer is in her room brushing her hair.

* Aeryn looks around serenely, and heads over to the stairs without taking off his cloak. Climbing them, he knocks lightly on the door to Summer's room.

* Summer glances over and then goes to answer the door. She smiles seeing Aeryn and then peers more carefully at him. "You're late?"

<Aeryn> ::he nods slightly:: Aye, I am. I was...called off to the side on the way. ::his face is calmer than usual. He looks at her and smiles warmly:: You look nicer with your hair like that rather than braided.

* Summer smiles at the complement and stands back a bit. "Do you want to come in?"

* Aeryn nods slightly, one hand vanishing back into his cloak. "Aye, and I shall tell you why I was late."

* Summer nods and closes the door behind him before motioning to the lone chair in her room. "You didn't get caught coming over here did you?" Her voice takes on a worried tone.

* Aeryn shakes his head. "No, nothing like that at all. I came via a different way today, and happened to pass one of the small parks in town. She called me over, and as it has been some time since I last visited the forest, I could not say no."

<Aeryn> ::he smiles at her again:: After I had paid my respects to the Goddess, she offered me a gift. ::he brings his hand out from beneath his cloak and offers her a wildflower with an exquisite scent:: I am told ladies enjoy these, so...

<Summer> Oh Aeryn ::Summer smiles and takes the flower, bringing it to her face to breath deeply of the scent:: How beautiful. ::she looks up at him and smiles wider and then steps closer and leans up to place a soft kiss on his lips:: Thank you.

* Aeryn's eyes go wide with surprise, then soften to something approaching wonder as he keeps looking at her. Swallowing on a suddenly dry throat, he whispers softly, "But... but... it is just a flower..."

<Summer> ::she smiles and steps back:: Yes, but to someone who has not been able to go outside for so long it's so much more. ::she lifts the flower to her face once more, closing her eyes as she takes a deep breath of the scent::

* Aeryn swallows a few more times, one hand coming up to touch his lips as he does so, wonder still the main expression on his face. "I believe it was intended for you specifically. A flower such as that rarely grows in the city, and I was almost led to where it hid. I though that since you had been confined here, you would like it, so..." He looks at Summer, then flushes and looks at the floor.

* Summer goes to the desk in her room and places the flower in the cup half full of water sitting there. Then she turns to Aeryn again and throws her arms around him, hugging him close.

* Aeryn starts back in surprise for a moment, flushing to the roots of his hair, and then he tentatively tries to put his arms around her, uncertainty on his face.

* Summer glances up at him and smiles amusingly. "I don't think I have ever seen such a bright shade of red." She pulls back away from him and goes to sit on the edge of her bed, pointing to the chair once more.

* Aeryn reddens a little more, then takes the offered seat, sweeping his cloak under him as he sits. "I... I do not think it likely you shall, either." He touches one still-red cheek with his hand lightly, then smiles at her tentatively.

* Summer lowers her gaze and rubs her toe against the floor. "I am sorry. I did not mean to make you feel uncomfortable."

* Aeryn looks at her, smiling a little more. "Surprised is closer, I believe. I did not think..." He shakes his head slightly. "I do not mind, it is just... I have never before been given such a gift..."

<Aeryn> ::he glances at the flower on the table, and says softly:: ...and it is just a single flower..."

* Summer glances to him and smiles. "And it was only one kiss."

* Aeryn blinks at her in surprise, then smiles somewhat shyly. "And you consider that a fair exchange?"

* Summer smiles teasingly. "Well if you'd rather have two kisses for the flower I think I could arrange that."

* Aeryn flushes and glances at the floor, then looks back at Summer with a slightly suspicious look. "I think you are... 'teasing,' you call it in Common?" A faint smile is still on his face.

<Summer> ::nods:: I am, though the idea of being able to kiss you again is a very nice one.

* Aeryn blinks at her in surprise again. "You..." He blushes to the roots of his hair again. "But..."

<Aeryn> ::He breaks off, confused, and after swallowing hard looks at her and says softly:: But...why? I mean... ::he gropes for words:: What have I done to deserve a gift such as this from you?

<Summer> ::she smiles a bit:: Well I like you. You have been so kind to me, and helping me learn combat and all. ::She looks down at her hands a moment and then back to him:: And, well, I like you...

* Aeryn looks at her, mingled surprise and wonder on his face. "But... I have done little more than any other would do..." He glances at the floor for a moment, before looking back at her and saying very softly, "But... I do like you..."

* Summer looks over at him and smiles wider. Then after a moment she hops up. "Oh you must be starved. Would you like me to get you something for dinner?" She seems slightly flustered.

* Aeryn nods. "Aye, that would be nice, if Rhys can spare it."

* Summer nods and goes to the door, glancing back to see if Aeryn is following.

* Aeryn stands and removes his cloak, draping it over one arm before following her.

* Summer heads down to the bar and then into the kitchen.

* Aeryn steps over to one of the tables and hangs his cloak over a chair in his customary neat fashion before hesitantly entering the kitchen.

* Summer glances over her shoulder. She offers Aeryn a smile. "How about a sandwich?"

<Aeryn> ::he smiles back:: That would be nice. ::his stomach rumbles audibly, giving its own comment::

* Summer smirks and sets about making a sandwich from the leftover dinner meat. It only takes a few moments and she turns, offering the plate to him.

* Aeryn takes it with a wry smile, glancing down at his treacherous belly. "Thank you." He looks back to her and makes a slight gesture with his free hand. "After you?"

* Summer heads back into the main room, stopping at the bar to get two mugs of water then heading over to a table to sit.

* Aeryn follows her to the table, sitting not-quite-opposite from her and taking one of the water mugs, smiling a thank-you to her. He takes a bite of the sandwich to quiet his stomach.

* Summer sips her water and watches him for a few moment. Then suddenly a soft blush comes to her cheeks and she looks down into her mug of water.

* Aeryn looks at her with some surprise and then grins a little. "Not quite as red as I was, but you are not too far off. Might I ask the cause?"

<Summer> Oh I ::she smiles and rubs a hand across her cheek:: I was always taught it was not polite to stare, and I was.

<Aeryn> ::he nods and takes another bite, finishing it before replying:: Aye, even elven children are taught so. ::he grins at her:: Although it seldom stops them.

* Summer chuckles and nods. "Yes same with us." She looks thoughtful as she sips her water again.

* Aeryn finishes another bite and washes it down, then quirks an eyebrow at her. "Copper for your thoughts?"

* Summer blinks and then shakes her head. "Just thinking about how much has changed since I was a child. How differently my life is turning out."

<Aeryn> Different in a good way?

<Summer> In some ways yes. ::she nods:: Some ways just so different I am not yet sure if it is good or bad.

<Aeryn> ::nods:: I take it you are excluding the obvious, temporary change? ::he gestures with his chin towards the door::

<Summer> ::nods:: Somewhat. It still has effects on me that are not temporary though.

* Aeryn raises an eyebrow. "That is dependant on how you define 'temporary.' Or were you not referring to your confinement?"

<Summer> Well not just my confinement. I was also referring to what's happened in the city over all.

<Summer> I mean if the orcs had not been here and all you might not have stayed, and we might not have had the chance to meet. That in and of itself has made a big impact on my life, an unexpected one at that.

<Aeryn> ::nods thoughtfully:: Aye, you have a good point. And there are others for whom this has also had permanent effects.

* Summer nods and sips more of her water. "I will be happy when it is all over," she says tiredly

* Aeryn nods wordlessly.

* Summer glances to Aeryn and smiles a bit.

* Aeryn blinks suddenly. {How could I have forgotten?}

* Summer raises an eyebrow and smirks. "What was that?"

* Aeryn looks at her. "I was not here for the meeting yesterday, and had intended to ask you if there was anything of note that I missed?"

<Summer> Oh ::she nods:: Mostly just deciding who was going to go with who and things like that. ::She continues, going into detail about the conversations from the previous night.::

* Aeryn watches her while she talks, then suddenly looks down at his half-eaten sandwich, flushing slightly.

* Summer finishes off her water and glances to him. "What?"

<Aeryn> ::he glances up at her:: I realized I was also staring... ::he flushes slightly again and turns his gaze back to his supper::

<Summer> ::grins:: Well.....I don't mind if you do not.

<Aeryn> ::smiles back:: I do not mind.

* Summer nods and stands, going to replace her mug at the bar

* Aeryn applies himself to what remains of his sandwich, finishing it quickly. Washing it down with the last of his water, he says, "So, nothing of note on our small task, then?"

* Summer shakes her head and returns to the table to get his dishes. "No, not that I recall."

<Aeryn> ::nods and stands:: And nothing else of note or interest?

* Summer shakes her head and moves back towards the kitchen. "No not really."

* Aeryn follows her into the kitchen, absently tucking his loose hair behind his ears.

* Summer heads to the sink and makes quick work of washing up the few dishes there are there.

* Aeryn picks up a mostly-dry dishtowel and begins drying them, trying to keep up with her.

<Summer> ::it takes only a few moments for them to finish the dishes. Then Summer heads back to the bar:: So are you going to stay here tonight?

* Aeryn glances at one of the windows briefly. "Aye. Either that, or break curfew and dodge patrols."

* Summer glances to the window and back to Aeryn. "You should stay."

<Aeryn> ::raises an eyebrow:: You are worried I might get caught? ::he grins and drops into a fighting stance:: Or would just like some exercise?

* Summer grins and steps closer, leaning in to kiss him quick. "Actually I just rather like the thought of you here."

* Aeryn's eyes widen and he blushes slightly, then goes a deeper shade of red. "You...you do?" His legs are suddenly not as steady under him, and he sits suddenly in a convenient chair, looking at her. After a moment he smiles up at her and asks, "How is it that you can do this to me so easily?"

* Summer smiles and reaches to caress his cheek lightly with one hand. "I don't think it'd work so well if I told you."

* Aeryn hesitantly reaches up to return the gesture, touching her cheek as lightly as a soap bubble before pulling his hand away. Very softly, "I never thought...that I could be this confused, or this afraid..."

* Summer raises her eyebrows. "Afraid? Why afraid?"

* Aeryn flushes yet again. "I feel...almost afraid to...to touch you...at all. How do I..."

* Summer smiles and takes his hands into hers, raising them to her cheeks and stepping closer. "I am not a glass doll," she whispers. "You can not break me that easily."

* Aeryn gazes at her, eyes wide. "But...but how am I to...to know what to do...what you expect...of me?" One hand moves very, very gently down her cheek.

<Summer> I don't expect anything of you. ::she moves her fingers over his chest, touching lightly where his heart is:: Just do what you feel.

<Aeryn> ::he flushes again, then says in a whisper:: I feel...that... ::one finger moves, light as a feather, down her cheek to rest just under her chin. Barely audible:: ...I would like...to kiss you again...

* Summer smiles. "So kiss me then."

<Aeryn> ::still quite red, he slowly brings his face down to hers and, not daring to breath, touches his lips ever so lightly to hers::

* Summer returns the kiss as lightly.

* Aeryn moves his head back just as slowly, but not far. "Thank you," he whispers.

* Summer smiles and looks up into his eyes. "Anytime." Her eyes twinkle playfully.

* Aeryn looks down at her, wonder, awe and puzzlement mixed in his eyes. "Am I ever going to understand you, Summer?"

<Summer> ::smirks:: Probably not completely, but in time you will understand more than you do now.

<Aeryn> ::smiles at her:: And you enjoy it this way? ::there is the faintest of twinkles in his eyes::

* Summer nods with a smile and takes his hands into hers. "I think it's time we both got some sleep."

* Aeryn glances reflexively at the window, then back to her. "Aye, as usual you are right, Summer." He smiles at her.

* Summer tucks her arm against his and turns to lead him to the stairs, stopping at the room he's occupied to kiss him once more before heading off to her own room.
