* Sabrina walks to the Hall and heads in to Fosst's room. She has a blanket over one arm and a picnic basket on the other. She's not wearing a cloak but is wearing a dark green wool dress. She knocks lightly on the door. * Fosst is seated at his desk, and at the sound of the knock, looks up from the diagram he is creating. The books on the table have been replaced by rolls of parchment and an open journal. He stands, and opens the door. * Fosst smiles. "Sabrina! It's good to see you." * Sabrina smiles "Hey Fosst. I thought maybe you had forgotten about me." * Fosst looks mildly offended. "I would never. But work has been very involving lately--I'm sorry I haven't visited the Music Box lately. Would you like to come in?" * Sabrina smiles and steps into the room "I was more teasing really. I brought a picnic. It's a beautiful evening I thought maybe I could entice you away from" she looks around "whatever?" * Fosst gestures to his desk. "I've been working on some new formulas for the shop, at the owner's request. I almost think he's testing me." He smiles. "But yes, it's quite nice out, and I'd love to join you." * Sabrina smiles "Good. No need for a cloak, it's quite warm." * Fosst nods. "You won't have to tell me -that- twice. I may feel much more at home in Marsember now, but my body still misses the cold." He cleans up the tools on his desk and closes the journal, and puts on his boots. * Sabrina grins and stands by the door waiting for him. * Fosst stands up, and rubs his lightly ink-blotted hands together. "Alright, then--let's go." He steps out, closes and locks the door, and attends by Sabrina. * Sabrina nods and heads out, leading him out of the city and towards the spot by the river she took him last. * Fosst follows, enjoying the fresh air and the company greatly. "How have your lessons with Kevil been?" <Sabrina> Very well thanks. ::she smiles over at him:: Life has been uneventful the past week, for which I am very grateful. * Fosst nods. "That's very good to hear... I suppose Lisl was able to get the Purple Dragons to investigate the cultists." <Sabrina> I'm not sure if she did or not. I have not heard anything about it since that day ::she shivers a bit:: <Fosst> No news is good news, then. ::he smiles:: Surely it's over now. * Sabrina nods "I hope so" * Sabrina steps closer to him and places her hand on his arm "So tell me about your job. You disappeared after you started working." * Fosst looks at her, and smiles slightly. "Well... we make medicines, mostly. I spend most of my time cleaning and preparing the plants for the owner, Marus, to mix. It takes a lot of time. But I like it. It helps people." * Sabrina nods. "That's wonderful." She smiles to him and then looks out over the river as they walk. "Mmmm it's such a beautiful day." * Fosst nods, and looks up. "Perhaps the stars will be out tonight." * Sabrina nods looking up to the sky "That would be lovely" * Fosst looks back out to the path. "What's in the basket, then?" * Sabrina grins at him "It's a secret" * Fosst smiles. "Oh! So, on a picnic, we don't get to know what's in the basket until we... stop?" He shakes his head. "I admit I'm a little unfamiliar on the concept, but my guess is that you're teasing again." He grins. * Sabrina laughs and nods "It's not a secret from me, it's a secret from you." <Sabrina> You've never been on a picnic before? * Fosst shakes his head. "If I'm right in saying it's a meal outside in the sunshine, no. It's not exactly a tradition in Uthgardt." * Sabrina nods "I guess it wouldn't be. It is a meal outside, but not necessarily in the sunshine. I heard a story once of a man who took his love on a midnight picnic in the summer. Very romantic." She looks dreamy for a moment and then blinks and flushes a bit and pulls away from him, rearranging the basket and blanket on her arm. * Fosst looks thoughtful for a moment, and then adjusts his collar. "Stories... it's been so long since I've heard one." * Sabrina smiles over at him as they approach the small grove of trees. "I suppose all the stories you have heard are much like the songs?" <Fosst> Some. Many of the stories are the songs, but some are without music. And the ones without music are generally recited with the music of a harp... and much more interesting. ::hmms:: I've only actually heard one, though. * Fosst takes a seat in the grass amid the trees, and stretches. * Sabrina nods and stops just inside the trees. She sets the basket down and spreads out the blanket. She glances at Fosst and grins as she takes a seat on the blanket and pulls the basket to her. * Fosst looks blankly at the blanket. * Sabrina looks over to Fosst "Part of a picnic is sitting on a blanket" <Fosst> Aaaah! ::he gets up, and sits down on the blanket:: * Sabrina grins at him and nods. She opens the basket and pulls out two cups and a bottle with water in it, handing him both. * Fosst takes them, and chuckles. "I should have guessed that one." He peers toward the basket. * Sabrina grins and pulls the basket closer so he can't see inside. "No peeking!" * Fosst hmphs a little, and sits back. "Oookay, I'll be patient." He grins. * Sabrina giggles and reaches into the basket again. She pulls out two sandwiches and hands him one. She pushes the basket behind her and takes a bite of her sandwich. * Fosst examines the sandwich a moment, and bites into it. He glances at Sabrina curiously, and then looks back up at the sky as he chews. * Sabrina watches Fosst for a moment and then takes another bite of her sandwich. * Fosst nods. "This is excellent, Sabrina." He takes another bite. * Fosst pours water for both of them, and hands Sabrina a glass. * Sabrina smiles "Thanks. I'm glad you like it" she takes a sip of her water. "So are you always going to be so busy at your job that I am going to have to come steal you away simply to spend some time with you?" her eyes twinkle playfully. * Fosst sips his water, and smiles almost slyly at Sabrina. "I don't have that much free time, I have to say--but it's a lot more fun when you -do- steal me away." * Sabrina grins at him "Well I'll make a point of trying to do it more often then" * Fosst nods decisively. "Sounds good." he takes a bite of his sandwich. * Sabrina smiles and takes another bite of her sandwich. * Fosst sets his glass down, and stretches back on the blanket, crossing his arms behind his head, staring up at the sky. He points with one arm. "Aha! You can see the stars." * Sabrina glances up and smiles "So you can" * Fosst looks thoughtful. "I haven't seen those before... though I recognize a lot of them." * Sabrina finishes off her sandwich "I don't know much about them other than that they are pretty." * Fosst nods. "They are indeed. Sometimes the nights are so crystal clear in Uthgardt that the light of the stars only is strong enough to cast shadows on the ground." * Sabrina looks up again "Sounds lovely" * Sabrina pulls the basket back around her and reaches in it again. She grins over at Fosst "Sit up, close your eyes and hold out your hand" her eyes twinkle playfully. * Fosst leans forward and sits up. He raises an eyebrow and can't help but grin at Sabrina, and closes his eyes. He holds out his right hand. * Sabrina grins and pulls a beautiful orange from the basket. It's bright and clean and looks better than most that have been around the city recently. She places it lightly in his hand. "Ok open your eyes" * Fosst opens his eyes cautiously, and smiles. He tosses the orange lightly up in the air and catches it, and then examines it. "Well! It's a lovely specimen. Thank you, Sabrina." He chuckles. * Sabrina watches him for a moment and then nods "I'm glad you like it" She smiles but her twinkling playfulness seems to have gone. * Fosst looks about to ask a question, and then sees Sabrina's expression shift and stops. <Fosst> Sabrina? * Sabrina places the sandwich remains and the empty bottle in the basket and sets it aside. She then lays back on the blanket and looks up at the stars. "Yes?" * Fosst leans back, holding the orange up and examining it philosophically. "Where did you find it?" <Sabrina> A woman who sells produce near where I sing. I told her a while ago that I had a friend who was fond of oranges and she promised to let me know when the first good spring fruit came in. That was one of the first that she got. * Fosst nods, and sets it down. He hmms. "I don't know if it would be right to eat it. It looks very fresh." * Sabrina blinks and sits up. "You don't like it?" * Fosst turns and looks at her. "I love it! But it would be--hmm. As though it would be wrong to eat something as pleasant." He chuckles. "That's Uthgardt talking again." He picks up the orange and begins to peel it. * Sabrina watches him curiously, thinking over what he said. * Fosst breaks the orange in half, and offers one half to Sabrina. "You stole me already--you don't have to go around stealing orange pieces, too. I'll give it to you." He grins * Sabrina smiles and takes the half "I rather enjoy stealing pieces of your oranges I'll have you know" She grins and takes a bite. * Fosst mischievously says, "Oh?" And takes back a piece she didn't eat. "Well, now you've got a chance to." He chuckles as he bites into his half. * Sabrina laughs and licks a bit of juice from her finger before stealing a piece from his hand. * Fosst nods. "And there you have it. All is well." He raises an eyebrow, and finishes his half, stuffing altogether too much into his mouth at once to chew without looking a little silly. * Sabrina chuckles and reaches to wipe a bit of juice from his chin. * Fosst keeps chewing, and ruffles Sabrina's hair. He struggles to speak, but gives up after a moment. * Sabrina giggles and pulls away, giggling more at his attempts to speak. * Fosst finally swallows, and coughs a little. "An excellent orange." He grins. * Sabrina smiles and nods "Be sure to enjoy the next one a bit more" * Fosst nods, and lays back again. "I like these picnics." * Sabrina chuckles and lays on her stomach next to him "Perhaps you should take me on one sometime." * Fosst hmms, and thinks. * Fosst points up at the stars. * Sabrina realizes she can't see the stars from this position, even though she has a nice view of Fosst. She grins and turns over on her back, looking up at the sky. "So did you enjoy your first picnic?" * Fosst smiles. "I did indeed. I daresay we'll have to go on another." * Sabrina smiles "I'd like that" * Fosst suddenly grins broadly, and his eyes widen. "Look!" He points to the sky as a streak of light passes in front of the stars, and vanishes. * Sabrina smiles "oohh how lovely. Make a wish" She closes her eyes. * Fosst closes his eyes, and tilts his head up, taking in a deep breath. His unfinished glass of water falls over, and drenches his right leg. He sits up abruptly. * Sabrina blinks and sits up. Seeing Fosst's wet leg she begins giggling. <Fosst> {Confounded--} ::picks up the glass and mumbles, and shakes it out over the grass:: * Sabrina grins, letting a few giggles escape. She packs up the rest of the picnic. * Fosst glances at Sabrina a little peevishly, and stands up. "Otherwise, a wonderful picnic." He brushes at his leg a little. * Sabrina chuckles and folds up the blanket {You will not melt} * Fosst hands her the glass. {I suppose not. But my leg will be cold for the walk back.} * Sabrina places the glass back in the basket and hands it to him to carry back. She places the blanket over her arm and grins at him {So now you are going to complain about being cold are you?} * Fosst carries the basket under one arm. {How could I ever complain about being cold? It's still hot tonight.} He smirks. * Sabrina chuckles and shakes her head a bit. She glances at Fosst and smiles fondly. * Fosst walks along with her, occasionally pointing out constellations of ogres and waste-panthers from Uthgardt oral tradition. * Sabrina looks and listens carefully. As they enter the city she walks towards the Music Box, and her home. She walks the steps to her apartment and turns to Fosst as they reach the door. "I do hope you had a good time" * Fosst looks at Sabrina's face, and nods. "I did, Sabrina." He smiles, with a little light in his eyes. "Until next time." * Sabrina smiles and nods, taking the basket back from him. "Don't be a stranger" <Fosst> Not if I can help it. --Have a good night, Sabrina. * Sabrina smiles and waves, watching him go until she can't see him anymore. She then turns and goes back into her apartment. * Fosst walks off, thinking, with a finger on his chin. After a while, from somewhere far down the dark streets, comes the soft echo of someone trying to sing a scale. |
