* Meghan is sitting in the living room wrapping Abagail up in a blanket. She has a heavy wool dress on and her hair is caught back in a tie * Michelle enters from the kitchen carrying a picnic basket. She's dressed in a simple blue and white dress, with knee high boots and kid gloves. A blue ribbon is tied in a bow in her hair and her moon earring is beginning to wax. * Meghan smiles over at Michelle. "All ready?" * Michelle nods, a faint smile on her face, "Yes. Is Abagail?" * Meghan nods. "I'm going to bring an extra blanket in case, but it looks beautiful out." * Michelle nods, "Good idea. Shall we?" * Meghan nods. She lifts Abby, an extra blanket over her arm. She heads to the door and holds it open for Michelle. * Michelle smiles and walks out the door, the basket swinging gently from one hand. * Meghan closes the door behind her and follows Michelle down the path. * Michelle smiles, "Lead the way Meghan. I don't know where this spot you wanted to take me to is located." * Meghan nods and heads in the general direction of the river. "I found this nice spot near the river when I was wondering home the other day. I thought you might like it." * Meghan walks along the river coming into view. She shifts Abagail to her to her arm and begins walking upriver, away from the city. * Michelle follows Meghan, admiring the country side. * Meghan glances down at Michelle and smiles again. She lightly untangles Abagail's fingers from her hair. After a while longer they approach a small grove of trees. The river is wider here so the water near the trees is calm. Meghan stops at a bright spot near the trees. "Here it is" * Michelle smiles, turning all the way around to examine the area. "It is wonderful." * Meghan smiles at Michelle "I knew you'd like it." * Michelle sets the basket down and opens it, pulling out a large blanket which she then spreads on the ground. * Meghan places Abby near the middle of the blanket and sits near her. She glances over to the basket. "I tucked the sheep that Tyl gave her in there I think" * Michelle rummages through the basket and pulls out the sheep, offering it to Abby as she sits on the blanket, bringing the basket with her. <Meghan> ::Abby giggles and grabs the sheep, promptly sticking it in her mouth:: * Michelle giggles, "I saw that coming." ::waves a finger at Abby in mock reprimand:: "You're going to make all your toys soggy if you keep that up." * Meghan grins and shakes her head "And everything else she can get her hands on." <Meghan> ::Abby looks up at Michelle and giggles again waving her hand at the woman: * Michelle smiles at Abby, "So how long before you're a mobile terror Abagail?" <Meghan> Not long I am sure. She has already started pulling herself up and crawling a bit. <Meghan> ::Abby leans forward onto her hands and begins to crawl, wobbly, to Michelle:: * Michelle smiles, "As was being said." * Meghan chuckles and nods. <Meghan> ::Abby gets a few inches and her hands and knees slide out from under her. She lands on her stomach and waves her hands at Michelle:: * Michelle smiles and reaches a hand towards Abby stopping a few inches shy, "You can do it Abagail. You're a good, strong girl." <Meghan> ::Abby wiggles a bit, pulling at the blanket with her hands. She manages to slide a few more inches, grasping Michelle's finger:: * Michelle smiles and picks Abby up, cradling Abby in her arms, "Is this where you wanted to be?" <Meghan> ::Abby giggles and clutches's Michelle's dress, looking up intently at her:: * Meghan smiles softly at them. * Michelle smile at Abby, "Not going to let me go?" <Meghan> ::Abby waves a hand at Michelle, the other still firmly clutching her dress:: Ma! * Michelle smiles sadly at Abby, placing a finger on her nose, "I'm not your Mama silly." <Meghan> ::Abby grabs Michelle's finger:: Ma! * Meghan smiles "I think you have an argument." * Michelle shakes her head and kisses Abby's brow before looking at Meghan, "Probably, but I don't think she's old enough to vote." * Meghan smiles "No. But she knows who loves her like a mother that's for sure." * Michelle nods, smiling sadly, "This is true." * Meghan watches Michelle for a moment before moving closer to the basket and pulling things out. * Michelle turns her attention back to Abby, gently rocking her and singing to her softly. * Meghan places a few sandwiches out and some apples. She also places a bottle of wine and some glasses down on the blanket. She hands Michelle a soft biscuit for Abby. * Michelle takes the biscuit absently, offering it to Abby as she continues to sing. <Meghan> ::Abby happily takes the biscuit and chews on it, watching Michelle:: * Meghan Carefully opens the bottle of wine and pours a glass, placing it carefully near Michelle. She pours another for herself. * Michelle continues rocking Abby and singing to her, seemingly content with the world. * Meghan sips her wine and watches Michelle, smiling softly and listening to her sing. <Meghan> ::Abby tosses the half chewed biscuit aside and yawns, blinking:: * Michelle giggles and waves a finger at Abby, "We don't throw food around, no matter how tired we are." <Meghan> ::Abby buries her face in Michelle's dress, yawning again and snuggling close to her:: * Michelle smiles and rocks Abby, singing softly to put her to sleep. * Meghan smiles "I do wish I your way with getting her to sleep." * Michelle waits till Abby is sound asleep then sips her wine and looks to Meghan, "It's just a matter of making her feel warm and loved and safe and content. The singing helps but it's hardly necessary. It's just an additional pleasant thing to convince her that it's safe to go to sleep." * Meghan nods. "I'll have to work on it. When she is especially upset I seem to not have the best luck convincing her of that." * Michelle smiles, "It comes with practice." * Meghan nods. "Obviously so." she smiles <Meghan> So tell me how you have been. We have not had much of a chance to visit alone since I have been back. * Michelle seems to convey a shrug without pausing in her gentle rocking of Abby. "Well enough. Looking after Nacheyla. Helping Temire through a rather surprising number of first experiences. That's been about it besides spending time with Abagail." * Meghan nods and drinks the rest of the wine in her glass. "Is everything going well with Nach?" * Michelle sips her wine looking uncertain, "It's really impossible to tell. Xarroch's influence is obvious and quite frankly even he can't provide any useful information on what to expect. I'm playing things by ear and hoping I don't have to put the child down." * Meghan blinks. "Does that mean what I am thinking it means?" * Michelle nods, looking sad and tired. * Meghan seems surprised for a long while, sadness filling her own face. * Michelle sips her wine, then resumes singing to Abby. * Meghan takes a sandwich and eats a bit. After a moment she looks to Michelle. * Michelle sips her wine, "Could you hand me a sandwich. I seem to have my hands full here." * Meghan nods and hands her half a sandwich. "Just let me know if you need anything else. And if there is anything I can do to help with Nach, anything you need. PLease let me know." * Michelle nods and eats some of the sandwich, still rocking Abby. * Michelle sips her wine, "So what have you been up to?" * Meghan finishes her sandwich half and pours herself a bit more wine. "Well I have been helping out at an orphanage in the city. Mostly just playing with the children and things. They enjoy Abby a lot." she smiles thoughtfully. * Michelle smiles, "I'd imagine so. She'll probably have packs of suitors by the time she's Temire's age." * Meghan nods. "Won't that be fun" * Michelle smiles mischievously at Meghan, "I don't know. We could get Jaret to do the intimidating father figure. Maybe burst into the room with milk and cookies at a crucial moment." * Meghan chuckles and nods. "You know he would love every minute of it too." * Michelle smiles, "Assuming he's not too busy with his own by then." * Meghan smiles and nods. "That's a possibility as well." * Michelle finishes her sandwich and resumes singing to Abby. * Meghan chuckles "Perhaps we'll have to have Xarroch visit more often." * Michelle giggles, "He'll definitely be too busy with his own. Besides the idea is to intimidate them, not scare them spitless." * Meghan chuckles again and nods. "Abby would probably hate us for that." * Michelle nods, "Particularly if she ever found out what we let Temire get away with." * Meghan shakes her head a bit. "Oh I don't want to think about it. I rather enjoy her just being this little." * Michelle giggles, "True enough. She'll grow up all too fast without us worrying about it." * Meghan nods and lightly brushes Abby's foot with her fingers. * Michelle finishes her wine, "Anything left in that bottle?" * Meghan nods and pours the last of the wine in Michelle's glass. * Michelle sips her wine and looks about, "It's a beautiful day isn't it?" * Meghan nods. "I'm glad the winter has not been that cold." * Meghan smiles at Michelle "And the company is lovely." * Michelle smiles, "Thank you." * Meghan smiles back. Her gaze turns to the river and lingers there. "I love this part of the river. It's so calm, soothing." * Michelle nods in agreement. * Meghan looks back down to the blanket. "Do you want anything else to eat?" * Michelle shakes her head, "No thank you." * Meghan nods and begins to pack up the leftover food and empty wine bottle. * Meghan blinks and looks to Michelle. * Michelle sighs, looking down at Abby, "I didn't want to ruin this outing...I'm just worried that we won't be able to make it work out this time either...And that she's going to get hurt in the process." * Meghan nods. She moves the basket a bit and slides closer to Michelle and Abby. "No matter what happen with us you will always be a very important part of Abagail's life. I would never take that away from her, or you." * Michelle nods, looking into Meghan's eyes. "I'm just worried that she won't be able to tell the difference between tension between us and our love for her." * Meghan nods and looks down at Abby. She then looks back up to Michelle. "We'll figure out a way to make it work 'chelle. Somehow we will" * Michelle looks at Meghan, her expression both hopeful and doubtful. * Meghan places her hand on Michelle's arm and nods. "I know." * Michelle looks away for a moment, then turns back to Meghan, "Do you want to go back now or stay for a while?" * Meghan smiles "My arms, and time is free. It's up to you." * Michelle closes her eyes for several moments. "I want to stay...but I'm afraid if I'm in your arms I'll let you off the hook like I did in the past." * Meghan nods. "How about I just keep you company then." * Michelle smiles faintly, "Alright." * Michelle begins singing softly again. |
