<Loria> ::the ground in Khymrych is still a little muddy from Nacheyla's little temper tantrum. Loria has changed out of her more elegant gowns and is now wearing simple robes of a pale yellow with silver suns embroidered around the hems:: * Kevil is still wearing primarily blacks, relieved now with shirts and sashes in bright colors. * Loria looks up from a red leather-bound book. "Are you feeling better now, dear?" <Kevil> ::strumming on his lute, looking idly out the window:: Somewhat, yes... Though I still do not... ::he stops himself and shrugs:: Bess is not as conciliatory as she pretends. <Loria> ::shrugging:: I'm not greedy... I'll take with winning my family over one person at a time... ::standing up, she stretches:: <Kevil> ::nods:: Better than abandoning them altogether. ::he looks around at her with an appreciative smile:: And you? How are you feeling, now? <Loria> ::putting her hands in the small of her back, she leans back:: A little stiff. Better... <Kevil> Good. ::he smiles:: Stiff is because...? <Loria> I hate studying... ::she smiles sheepishly:: <Kevil> Ah. ::he grins back at her and leans to kiss her:: I, also. <Loria> Let's get out for a while... ::she closes the book with a snap:: I'm getting moldy, sitting around. <Kevil> ::grins at her as he puts his lute away:: If you are getting moldy, n'shava, perhaps we should give you a bath... <Loria> ::grins:: Lecherous beast... ::she winks at him:: Let's get out. <Kevil> ::chuckles and kisses her again before straightening his clothes and following her out:: I have yet to hear you complain... <Loria> ::absently polishing her pendant on her robes, she wanders out of the House. The air outside is mildly cold, but crisp and the sun is shining:: * Kevil walks beside her, shivering slightly as they step outside. "I should have brought a cloak... Where do you wish to walk, n'shava?" <Loria> ::shrugging:: Just around... ::she glances over towards the creek and resolutely heads in the other direction:: <Kevil> ::nods and follows her:: A lovely day, were it not for the chill in the air... <Loria> ::peers off down the road:: Someone's coming... <Kevil> ::follows her gaze:: Several someones. <Loria> ::squints, shading her eyes against the bright sunlight:: Kristo! <Kevil> ::blinks:: How can you tell? <Loria> ::snorts:: I can see him walking... ::she grins:: He sort of.... dum-de-dums along. <Kevil> ::laughs:: I will trust your judgment, n'shava... <Kristo> ::As the party comes nearer, he hails:: Good afternoon, Blesse- Loria? <Loria> ::smiling up at him:: Hey Kristo... ::somewhat slyly:: You've met my betrothed, right? Kevil? * Kristo jogs the last few steps and sweeps his sister into an enormous bear-hug, swinging her around like a girl. <Loria> ::laughing:: Put me down, oaf. * Raven, Lotho, and Finn come to a stop a few feet away, grinning. Lotho and Finn, just behind Raven, elbow each other. <Loria> ::looking over Kris's shoulder, then says in an undertone:: I see you brought Polla's sweetheart with you. <Kristo> ::puts Loria down and eyes Kevil suspiciously, then nods once.:: <Kristo> ::laughs:: Don't tell me she's *still* got that crush...! <Finn> ::groans:: P'raps I'll find me way back te Marsember an' wait for ye there... <Lotho> ::chortles:: <Kevil> ::grins and nods back to Kristo, his eyes sparkling:: <Loria> ::straightening her robes:: So what do you think, Kris? <Kristo> ::steps back a little to examine Loria:: You look like you got lost in the dress-up trunk. ::he grins:: <Loria> ::sticks her tongue out at Kris:: You should be nice to me, Kris... <Kristo> ::holds up his hands in surrender, still grinning:: All right, all right... <Raven> ::smiles:: You look very nice, Loria. <Loria> ::turning to walk with them towards the village:: Thank you, Raven. ::she smiles shyly at the half-elf:: Seriously, Kris... the Blessed Mother showed up a few days ago to terrify Da' and I into reconciliation. <Kristo> ::blinks:: What??? I think you'd better slow down and start over, Lor... <Loria> ::shrugging:: You know how Da' is. We - Kevil and I - stopped to see Da' and Mama when we first got here. And Da' was... well, pretending that I wasn't there. We left again, then She came. :;shivers in memory:: <Kristo> ::frowns:: A bit harsh, even for him... And She talked sense into him? * Kevil slides a comforting arm around Loria's shoulders. <Kristo> ::glares absently at Kevil:: <Loria> ::laughs:: She barely said a word.... I thought... ::quietly:: I thought She was going to kill him. <Kristo> What happened, then? <Loria> ::glances at Kevil:: I... I put myself in the way. ::shudders:: <Kevil> ::closes his eyes briefly at the memory:: <Kristo> ::glances at Kevil as well, frowning:: You... interceded with Her? For him? <Loria> ::swallowing:: I did... I mean, honestly, I couldn't have just stood there... Seriously. He's still my Da'. <Kristo> ::nods:: Y-yeah... Though after that... ::shakes his head:: And She let it go? <Loria> No... ::shivers:: I thought She... ::wide-eyed:: She was... ::shaking her head:: Anyway, Da' grabbed me and tried to shield me from Her. Which seemed to be just what She wanted. * Kevil mutters incomprehensibly under his breath. <Kristo> ::raises his eyebrows at Kevil, then looks at Loria:: What's wrong with the old man, there? <Kevil> ::glares at Kristo:: <Raven> ::elbows Kristo sharply:: <Loria> You sound just like Bess... ::glowering at him:: Which is just about the worst thing I could say about you right now, Kris. <Kristo> ::glances between Loria and Raven, rubbing his side:: ...Oh, all right. <Raven> ::looks at Kristo significantly, then turns to Loria:: We got your letter - *this* one would not even take the time to wait over night, but had us on the road to Marsember immediately. ::she shakes her head with a faint smile:: <Loria> ::hugging Kevil around the waist:: Say you're sorry, Kris. It's not like he's not right here. Sheesh, your manners... <Kevil> It is well, n'shava, I need no apology. ::he grins:: Bess, at least, is creative in her implications. <Kristo> ::winces:: Ow... ::he eyes Kevil:: I'm sorry, all right? Peace? ::he sighs and mutters:: I should know better than to get into a verbal match with a bard, anyway... <Finn> ::crows with laughter:: Like that minstrel down t' Waterdeep, aye! <Kristo> ::blushes, while the rest of his friends laugh:: <Loria> ::as they enter the village, a young blonde woman is casually sitting on the porch of the small tavern. She is wearing a dark green silk dress, not quite obvious in it's hastily sewing. She smiles, delighted, as Kristo and the others pass:: Kris! <Kristo> ::beams:: Turnip! <Kristo> ::opens his arms:: Come and give me a proper welcome! <Finn> ::tries to hide behind Lotho:: <Polla> ::smoothing out her gown:: No wild acrobatics, big brother... this is my new dress... ::walks over and kisses Kris lightly on the cheek:: * Kristo snorts and picks Polla up, giving her the same treatment he gave Loria before setting her back down. <Polla> You are a monster... ::blushes a bit, self-consciously adjusts her bodice:: <Kristo> ::ponders this, then turns to consult Lotho:: I thought we *fought* the monsters, Lo...? <Lotho> ::appears to give the matter thought, himself:: Well, you never know, Kris... ::he smiles up at Polla:: How are you, Miss Polla? That's a lovely shade of green. <Polla> ::smiling warmly at Finn:: It's nice to see you all again. ::she dips down to give Lotho a kiss on the cheek:: <Finn> ::smiles politely:: It's nice to see you again. <Raven> ::gives Finn an amused glance, then reaches over Lotho's head to hug Polla:: You are looking well. <Polla> ::giving Raven a quick hug:: I don't know what you see in this monster... ::she punches Kris in the upper arm:: <Raven> ::smiles and takes Kristo's arm:: He packs a lovely tent. <Polla> ::glancing at Finn for a half-second, then turning to walk with them:: Mama's got lunch nearly ready. You know her... cook us all into oblivion... <Kevil> Lunch? Already? ::he looks up into the sky:: We just had breakfast! <Kristo> ::eyeing Polla:: Where'd you get the dress, Turnip? It looks new... <Loria> ::snorts:: Mama likes to cook... <Polla> ::smoothing the fabric:: Lorie brought me the silk... ::smiles warmly at Kevil:: They got it when they went to visit Kevil's parents... <Kristo> ::eyes Kevil again:: Oh, did they? And where might that be, pray? * Loria glances at Kevil, curious as to how he'll answer that. <Kevil> ::smiles urbanely:: The city of Alanis, in the heart of the Ven desert. ::he smiles a little wider at Kristo's obvious bafflement, and offers:: Just south of Karandistahn. <Loria> ::nodding:: The Alani have wonderful silks... <Kristo> ::aims a scowl between Loria and Kevil:: I've never heard of any of those places. <Kevil> ::shrugs, with a faint smile:: <Raven> ::nudges Kristo and whispers to him briefly, nodding back toward their pack-horses:: <Loria> ::patting Kris on the arm:: It's a long ways away... <Kristo> ::gives Loria a dubious look, then nods to Raven:: * Raven drops back to the horses, rummaging in the saddlebags. <Loria> ::curiously:: So, any new adventures? I've had a few... personally, I think you're insane... going out and *looking* for trouble... ::she laughs shortly:: <Kristo> ::raises his eyebrows at Loria:: We've had some, but I'm curious to know why *you're* getting into trouble. ::he eyes Kevil again:: <Loria> ::twitching her fingers on her robe:: Part and parcel with the whole Blessed Sister bit... ::she colors:: I actually have to go on a quest, sometime soon... <Kevil> ::nods:: We certainly did not go in search of adventure. * Kristo glares at Kevil again, and is about to say something when Lotho stumbles and accidently kicks him in the back of his ankle. "OW!" He turns around to glare at the halfling. <Lotho> ::innocently:: Sorry. Loose rock. <Loria> ::fondly:: Actually, Kevil takes very good care of me. <Kristo> ::striving for a neutral tone:: Does he? ::glances back at Lotho:: We saw your new house when we came through Marsember. Very nice. ::he glances at Kevil suspiciously:: <Loria> ::putting her hands on her hips:: You know, I've just about had it with you, Kris... what exactly is your problem? <Kristo> ::looks at Loria, flabbergasted:: I.... ::he glances back at his friends, and glowers as it becomes obvious he'll receive no support from that quarter on this matter:: You're my sister. <Loria> ::stepping up to him, looking almost tiny in comparison to his hulking form:: I am your sister. And don't you think I deserve to be loved and happy, Kris? <Kristo> I... ::he glances at Kevil uncertainly:: <Kevil> ::smiles and moves back a little, going to try to help Raven with whatever she's looking for.:: <Kristo> ::sighs:: Lor, I want you to be happy. I *do*... I just don't see why *him*. He's... I know, Bess harps on it, but... he's so much *older*, Lor... <Kristo> ::looks uncomfortable:: And I don't know anything about him... where he comes from... And bards are so... ::he looks down at Loria with a sigh:: I don't want him to hurt you. <Loria> ::patting him on the arm:: Kris... he cared for me, even before... before the Blessed Mother healed me. You know how I was... <Kristo> Did he? I didn't... I came for the wedding, and you were healed, and he was lurking around... <Loria> He wasn't *lurking*. ::in a low voice:: If you tell Vallel this, I will kill you... I was attacked, in Marsember, a few months back. You should have seen him... our friend Lisl saved me, but he was so worried. No one ever got angry for me, before. ::touches Kris's face, her eyes glimmering:: Can't you understand? He's always treated me like I was some rare and precious thing to him... * Kristo glances back at Kevil again, then sighs and kisses Loria's cheek. "All right, Lor. I'll try to be nicer to him." He sighs again and smiles. "Can't blame a man for worrying about his sister..." <Loria> ::linking her arm through her brother's:: Aside from that, he's been adventuring with the Blessed Mother. And I don't think you're prepared to be on Her bad side. <Kristo> ::laughs:: No, I... ::looks at her incredulously:: He *what*? <Kevil> ::approaching again, half-smiling:: Lady Imp and I have been friends for some time. <Loria> ::nodding:: That's what I've been told. She and some others went after some monsters... Ithlids or something... I don't remember. <Kristo> ::eyes Kevil again:: Illithid? ::he exchanges glances with his friends:: You went hunting illithid? With the Blessed Mother? <Kevil> ::nods:: And some others. ::he smiles somewhat viciously:: I have been killing illithid for a *long* time. <Finn> ::laughs suddenly:: Good huntin', too, aye! <Kevil> ::looks back at the red-haired mage with a grin:: Aye. <Loria> ::shudders:: I think they sounded nasty... ::sticks her tongue out:: <Polla> ::looking worried:: Are they dangerous? * Kristo looks like he's chewing on something bitter. Finally, he huffs. "Well. If She approves, then I guess I've lost my last argument on the matter, and I've got a new brother." He offers Kevil his hand. "You'll take good care of my sister, though, or we'll come back for you." His grin says he's not *entirely* joking. <Lotho> ::smiles cheerfully up at Polla:: Only if they get a chance to hit you from afar. <Polla> ::grins at Lotho:: You'll have to tell me all about it sometime... I remember you tell wonderful stories... <Kevil> ::takes Kristo's hand without hesitating, though he sighs:: You will have to stand in line in such a case, I fear. ::he grins:: Your sister is well-loved in Marsember. <Lotho> ::laughs:: My pleasure, Miss Polla. <Polla> ::to Kristo:: I know you're all grumbly and all, Kris, but I made your favorite. Mama thought you might come, so there's a lemon custard for you. <Kristo> ::brightens:: Is there? ::he leans over and plants a kiss on Polla's cheek:: You're my favorite sister today, Turnip. <Polla> ::giggles:: The best way to a man's heart is through his stomach... * Kevil coughs but doesn't say anything. * Loria laughs. "I certainly hope *not*. I still can't cook anything but omelettes without making a mess of it..." <Lotho> ::brightens as the house comes into view:: And here it is, time for lunch! ::beams at Kris:: And a tall mug of your father'sale... <Kevil> ::stoically:: They are very *good* omelettes, n'shava... <Loria> ::rolling her eyes:: I'm still just as glad we're getting a cook... <Kevil> ::stage-whispers to Kristo:: Me, too. <Kristo> ::laughs:: <Polla> ::almost casually:: There's blackberry tarts, too... ::she glances out the corner of her eye at Finn:: <Lotho> ::grins:: A cook? ::he nudges Kris:: We should visit them. Often. <Finn> ::glances over at Polla:: Blackberry, did ye say? <Polla> ::turning with surprise:: Oh, good day to you, Master Finn. Yes... a few... ::she bobs a curtsey:: <Finn> ::grins:: Ach, well, I'd best lay claim early then, aye? <Loria> ::smiling at Lotho:: As Kevil said a few days ago, our doors are always open to family... you'd be most welcome, whenever you should come. We've enough room for you all. <Lotho> ::smiles brightly:: We'll be taking you up on that, Mistress Loria, indeed we shall! <Loria> ::eying Lotho brightly:: I shall have to step up my performances, Kevil, if we're to feed this crowd... ::winks at Kevil:: <Kevil> ::laughs:: We both shall! <Myralynn> ::coming out into the yard:: Come in, come in... ::smiles at her children:: It's good to see you, Kris. * Kristo steps forward to hug his mother and kiss her cheek. "It's good to see you, Ma..." <Myralynn> Just help yourselves to lunch. Your Da's fixing the fences in the north thirty... * Lotho offers Myralynn a brief greeting, then slips past Kristo and into the house, beelining for the kitchen table. ::smells of baked ham and potatoes and white gravy drift out of the house:: <Loria> ::nudging Kris:: We'd best get in while there's something left... <Finn> ::about to race Lotho, stops short of bumping into Polla, then bows her almost gracefully through the door before him:: <Kristo> ::grins at Loria:: You don't seriously think Ma would have left anything to chance, do you? <Polla> ::smiling, she enters the house, brushing against Finn lightly, almost accidentally, before taking her seat at the table:: * Loria glances at Finn, then looks at Kristo, raising an eyebrow. <Loria> ::in a very low voice:: If he starts running now, he might get away... <Kristo> ::also watching the exchange between Polla and Finn, growls softly:: Just as well I don't have to worry over you now, Lor... I can see I have new worries coming - and I know *exactly* how disreputable that one is... <Loria> ::laughs, kissing her brother on the cheek:: Don't worry so, Kris... your sisters are going to be happy just to spite you, you know... <Kevil> ::laughs softly and pulls Loria gently after him toward the table:: <Kristo> ::growls again, half-heartedly, then stalks into the kitchen to snatch a roll from under Lotho's reaching hand:: <Myralynn> ::handing out plates and passing around a pitcher of foaming ale:: |
