* Michelle walks up the steps of the Morninglord's temple, dressed in a green tartan skirt with a red jacket wrapped around her against the days chill. She pauses to ask directions to the student dorms and then proceeds to the back of the temple, knocking on the door the students tell her is Tarri's. * Tarri opens the door. "Ye- Michelle!" <Tarri> ::smiles:: What can I do for you? * Michelle smiles at Tarri, but it lacks a great deal of it's usual charm, "Hello Tarri. Is there somewhere we can talk?" <Tarri> ::nods and opens the door wider, gesturing Michelle into her room. Tarri's roommate seems to be out:: Come in... what's going on? * Michelle enters the room, absently surveying it before taking a seat and a deep breath before looking seriously at Tarri. "What was the last you heard about Temire?" <Tarri> Um... She was here to visit me just a few days ago - we gossiped some... ::eyes wide:: Is she okay? * Michelle shakes her head, her eyes sad, "She told you about Ilarion." Michelle makes it sound like a statement rather than a question. <Tarri> Um... ::blushes faintly:: Yeah... Is *he* okay? ::looks confused:: What's happened? * Michelle sighs, "Ilarion disappeared over the weekend and showed up Tuesday afternoon. He'd been drinking heavily trying to build up the courage to tell Temire that he'd had sex with Catreenia." <Tarri> ::goggles:: He did *what*??? ::sits down abruptly:: Oh, dear... Poor Temire... Is she taking it very hard? * Michelle sighs, "She took it about as well as could be expected...Unfortunately yesterday she went and returned all the romance novels she borrowed from Glossaria." <Tarri> ::shakes her head:: I don't understand. * Michelle shakes her head, "I don't know what exactly happened but Glossaria apparently got Temire talking about it and by the time Temire got home I had to change her clothes and spoon feed her." * Michelle sighs, "Something Glossaria and Vallel said to her has convinced her that she's completely worthless and unloved. Nacheyla and I have done what we can...but I think she really needs to talk to a friend." <Tarri> Oh, Blessed Mo- ::she breaks off with a faint grin, then sighs exasperatedly:: Glossaria probably tried to grill her about how it all felt. I love her to death, but she's *such* an innocent sometimes! ::she grabs up a pencil and scrap of paper from a desk and scrawls a quick note, which she leaves on the other desk:: I'm ready. * Michelle smiles and stands, hugging Tarri, "Thank you Tarri." <Tarri> ::nods, already distractedly worried, and leads the way out of the Temple, letting Michelle take the lead as they move out into the city.:: * Michelle leads Tarri back to Ellesmere closing the door behind them. "She's up in her room. Things will probably go better if the two of you are alone. Holler if you want anything." * Tarri nods. "Thank you." She takes the stairs two at a time, and knocks on Temire's door. <Temire> ::No sound comes from Temire's room:: <Tarri> ::knocks again, then opens the door:: Temire? * Temire is lying in bed, dressed in her flannel nightgown hugging a teddy bear and staring blankly off into space. <Tarri> ::shuts the door carefully behind her, then crosses the room and sits on the bed next to Temire:: Wake up. * Temire blinks slowly and turns her head just enough to look at Tarri uncomprehendingly, "Tarri?" <Tarri> ::nods, crossing her legs:: Wake up a little and talk to me, Temire. * Temire looks at Tarri her eyes filled with hope and fear and asks in a little girl voice, "Tarri...are you my friend?" <Tarri> Of course I am. What on earth makes you have to ask? * Temire sits up, dropping her teddy bear and hugging Tarri, crying softly, "thank you..." <Tarri> ::returns Temire's hug, patting her back:: It's all right... You have to talk to me, Temire. You've got Michelle worried sick. * Temire continues crying softly, "is michelle my friend?" <Tarri> ::a little firmly:: Temire. Stop that. You know she is. * Temire whimpers a little letting go of Tarri and hanging her head. <Tarri> ::takes Temire's hand:: I want to help you, Temire, but you have to meet me partway. * Temire lifts her head and looks confusedly at Tarri. <Tarri> ::with a faint smile:: Just because Ilarion was stupid doesn't mean all the rest of your friends are going to abandon you. * Temire blinks at Tarri, "Gloss said I was pathetic and worthless and no one wanted to be my friend." <Tarri> ::frowns:: I know Gloss isn't always the most tactful person, but I'm *quite* certain she wouldn't have said that. I think maybe you're over-reacting to something she meant much more innocently than that. * Temire blinks confusedly at Tarri. <Tarri> ::smiles a little wider:: For instance... You're certainly *looking* pretty pathetic right now. That doesn't mean you *are* pathetic, dear. It means you need to comb your hair. * Temire continues to look confused, "Comb my hair?" <Tarri> ::nods:: You're got a terrific snarl right on top. ::she looks around, then climbs off the bed long enough to go to the dresser and fetch Temire's comb:: Turn around - I'll tease it out for you while you tell me everything. * Temire obediently turns around, "Tell you what?" <Tarri> Well... ::she positions herself a little better and starts carefully picking apart the tangles in Temire's hair:: Start with Ilarion, and then you can tell me why you let yourself get this worked up over it. <Temire> Ilarion? <Tarri> ::firmly:: Yes. <Temire> But you know Ilarion. ::sounding confused:: <Tarri> ::more firmly:: Temire. You know what I'm talking about. * Temire droops her head, "I'm sorry..." <Tarri> Hold your head up, or I can't reach the tangles. What happened? * Temire lifts her head up, "He slept with Cat." <Tarri> Yes, Michelle told me. And then he confessed? <Temire> Yes. <Tarri> Hmm. ::picks at a tangle:: Well, that's all Michelle told me. Tell me what happened... Why'd he confess? <Temire> Because he felt bad about hurting me. <Tarri> ::hmphs:: Then why'd he do it in the... ::sighs exasperatedly:: MEN. * Temire starts crying softly, "She's so pretty and I'm so ugly, why wouldn't he." <Tarri> ::raises an eyebrow at the back of Temire's head:: If he thought you were ugly, he wouldn't have slept with you in the first place. * Temire cries harder, "Then why did he sleep with her?" <Tarri> I don't know. Lift you head, please. Did you ask him? * Temire lifts her chin, "He said it was a mistake." <Tarri> ::hmphs again:: Which means he wasn't thinking at *all*; just letting his prick lead him around. Idiot. * Temire slowly stops crying, "Tarri...How am I suppose to trust him again?" <Tarri> Well... Do you *want* to trust him again? <Temire> Gloss and Val said that I didn't love him if I couldn't trust him. <Tarri> Well, *that's* not true, or you wouldn't be so miserable, would you? Did you ever steal cookies from the kitchen when you were a little girl? * Temire sounds confused, "Yes..." <Tarri> Well... I know your parents weren't exactly wonderful people, but... pretend you had a little girl who stole cookies all the time. You'd still love her, even though you couldn't trust her not to steal the cookies, right? * Temire giggles, "Too bad I can't put all the pretty women on the top shelf where he can't reach them." <Tarri> ::giggles:: Yeah... ::a little more soberly:: I think probably he knew it was bad, but didn't really think the consequences all the way through until after it was over. He knew it was going to hurt you - why else would he have had to get so drunk before confessing? * Temire gets sad again, "But if he's willing to hurt me..." <Tarri> I don't know that I'd say he was *willing* to hurt you... ::she grins:: If I snuck out after curfew to meet Sanriel and got mugged in the alley, I don't think I'd say I was willing to be robbed! It's more like he wasn't *thinking*. Maybe now that he's seen how much it hurts, it will help him remember not to do it again. <Temire> Maybe...::Mira doesn't really sound convinced:: <Tarri> ::tugs at another tangle:: I *said* you didn't have to trust him. I'd certainly think he'd have to *earn* your trust again, after that little stunt. The question is - do you want to try to learn to trust him again, or not? <Tarri> ::thoughtfully:: I'd think, given that he confessed this one, he really wouldn't be able to keep too many secrets from you in the future. <Temire> Tarri...Do you think it matters that we don't...That Cat knows more than I do? <Tarri> Matters? Matters how? * Temire gestures in frustration, "In making him happy I guess..." <Tarri> ::stops combing for a minute:: You mean in bed? * Temire nods, "Yeah." <Tarri> ::starts combing again:: I don't know... Not too much, I guess, if he isn't sleeping with her anymore, right? ::grins:: If you want to make sure he's happy, though, probably what you should do is ask him what he likes. * Temire blushes, "I...I tried a couple of times...He'd always introduce me to something new before I could say anything though." * Temire shakes her head violently before leaning forward with her face in her hands, crying, "Tarri! I can't stop thinking about what they did! I can't even remember the nights we had together without thinking of them." <Tarri> ::pats Temire's shoulder, uncertain how to respond:: * Temire cries herself out after a few minutes, sitting huddled on her bed sniffling. <Tarri> ::sighs:: I don't know about that... I'd think it would fade, over time...? * Temire turns around and hugs Tarri. <Tarri> ::hugs Temire back:: I wish I knew the answers, Temire... <Temire> what am I going to do tarri? <Tarri> Does... Did it bother you that he'd been with other women before? I mean... he has a daughter! * Temire pulls away, wiping her eyes and giggling, "A little. I told you about why I went to Waterdeep." Pulls on her white lock of hair. <Tarri> ::nods:: But... I thought that was because he'd *loved* her. This is just... ::she shrugs:: ...just sex. * Temire nods, "Yeah." <Tarri> ::smiles and lightly pets Temire's detangled hair:: You'll forget... Well, probably not entirely, of course. I still get a little nervous around big fires. ::she smiles sheepishly:: But I'm sure it won't matter, after a while. You won't think about *her* any more than you think about any of his *other* previous women. * Temire hugs Tarri and rests her head on Tarri's shoulder, "So any ideas on how he can earn my trust?" <Tarri> The same way anyone would - by being worthy of it. By... by not abusing it again. * Temire nods and sighs, "Tarri...How did I get like this?" <Tarri> Get like what? * Temire gestures weakly, "This pathetic. Lying in bed and crying my eyes out til they had to drag you from your studies to straighten me out." <Tarri> ::laughs:: Oh, everyone goes through a little self-pity when they get their heart broken... You just... ::she grins at Temire to show she's teasing:: ...as usual, you just took it to extremes. * Temire smiles and giggles, "Which extreme? When I punched Roni or when Michelle had to hold me all night so that I'd sleep." <Tarri> ::giggles:: Both, it sounds like... <Tarri> You *punched* him? * Temire blushes and ducks her head, but she's smiling and her eyes are sparkling, "Well I didn't want him touching me, and he was trying to hug me because I was upset and he wouldn't let go." <Tarri> ::giggles again:: Did you break anything? * Temire giggles, "I don't think so, but he was spitting up blood for a little bit." <Tarri> ::winces in sympathy, but laughs:: Well, you can't say he didn't suffer for his crime... * Temire grows sober and nods, "He said he'd rather cut his throat than hurt me again." <Tarri> Oh... ::sighs a little:: Well... *That* certainly sounds trustworthy... ::she grins at Temire:: At least, worthy of a second chance... * Temire nods, leaning on Tarri again, "I was giving him a second chance. But I didn't feel like reading romances anymore so I went to return them all to Gloss..." <Tarri> ::nods:: Keep giving him a second chance. And the next time you're upset, try to keep in mind that Gloss isn't really the best person to talk to... She's sweet, but... she doesn't understand emotions very well at all. Her best intentions sometimes... ::she flops a hand on the bed to mimic a falling brick:: * Temire giggles. <Tarri> ::smiles and puts Temire's comb on the table by the bed:: Feeling better? * Temire hugs Tarri, "Much. I'm sorry for worrying everyone." <Tarri> ::returns Temire's hug:: Just try not to do it again. * Temire giggles, "I'll try. Thank you Tarri." <Tarri> You're welcome. ::she smiles:: What are friends for? * Temire grins, "For lying for you when you steal from the cookie jar?" <Tarri> ::laughs:: Sometimes... * Temire tightens her hug, "Oh Tarri...What would I do without you?" <Tarri> ::grins:: I don't know... What did you do before I came to Marsember? * Temire sighs, "Moped around a lot and felt miserable." <Tarri> Oh. You should stop that. ::she grins as she stands up:: Walk back to the Temple with me? You could stand to get out a little, and it's a lovely day. * Temire smiles, "Let me get dressed. Val said all the guys at school thought I was attractive, but I don't think I need to go wandering around in my nightgown." <Tarri> ::giggles and nods:: I'll wait downstairs. * Temire hurriedly dresses, bouncing down the stairs to join Tarri. |
