* Nacheyla walks into the Hall wearing a loose white tunic over black breeches. She is just starting to show signs of her pregnancy and her eyes are glittering redly. She waves her hands at the candles and fireplace, bursting them into flames. "Ooops."

<Nacheyla> ::peering at several totally melted candles:: Damnit... ::replacing the candles and lighting them the more normal way:: Hall's open.

* Kevil holds the door open for Loria before entering himself. He has dark circles under his eyes, and his usually impeccable clothing is more than a little rumpled. He heads straight for the bar and slumps onto a stool.

<Loria> ::sighing, she follows him, a dagger belted at her waist:: I'm sure she didn't mean it, Kevil-lin...

* Nacheyla turns at the sound of voices. She puts her hands on her hips, gets ready to say something and then, noticing Kevil's face. "Ah, it'll wait. Drink or drunk, Kevil?"

* Bluestar enters, flipping the hood back off his head, but leaving his cloak on. He's dressed in an immaculate black shirt and pants with ivory buttons. He has a short sword at his side that could use a bit of a polishing. "Evening, Nacheyla."

<Nacheyla> ::grinning at Bluestar:: Good evening, Professor. Get you something?

<Kevil> ::snorts:: She meant every word. Not that I did not deserve some of them... ::he glances up at Nacheyla:: Lady Imp. ::he summons a weak smile:: I should thank you for your assistance, I think... And you might as well say whatever you have to say now. No sense dragging it out... But please, I would like a drink first.

* Bluestar glares at Nacheyla as he slides onto a stool. "Rum on the rocks, the Headmaster special."

* Sabrina steps into the Hall and removes her cloak, hanging it on a peg near the door. She turns and her face lighting up seeing Kevil and Loria. She heads quickly to the bar and then her steps slow upon closer examination of Kevil's expression. She slows her steps as she approaches. "Welcome back"

* Nacheyla pours drinks, getting rum for Bluestar and something clear in a shot glass for Kevil. For Loria, she pours a glass of white wine.

<Nacheyla> Ah, Sabrina, dear... ::pouring her a mug of water:: How are you?

<Kevil> ::turns to eye Sabrina, summoning a small smile:: Ah, songbird. How went the studies in my absence?

<Kevil> ::picks up the glass Nacheyla poured for him and sniffs at it tentatively:: Is this a sip or swallow drink, Lady Imp?

* Sabrina smiles at Nach and takes the water. "I am well thank you" she turns back to Kevil and Loria. "They went well"

<Nacheyla> Swallow it... ::puts a plate of orange wedges next to the glass:: Here, cut it after you drink.

* Bluestar drinks the rum in one fluid motion. "Ah, how lovely. Another, please."

* Nacheyla pulls the bottle out from beneath the bar, sitting it next to Bluestar's glass.

<Kevil> ::nods in understanding and picks up an orange wedge, holding it ready. He slams back the contents of the shot glass and immediately, before he can taste the liquor, bites into the orange::

* Bluestar pours himself another. "Ah, all the comforts of home."

* Nacheyla pours herself a glass of grapefruit juice.

* Fosst pushes the door open uncertainly with one hand. The other holds a hooded cloak--thick, worn, and the color of stone--about his form. He looks in.

* Loria absently pats Kevil on the arm, then sits down, looking at Nacheyla calmly.

* Sabrina gives Kevil a worried glance before turning to Nach "How are you doing Nacheyla?"

* Kevil takes a deep breath as he swallows the orange's juice and puts the shot glass down. "Ahh! Another few of those, and I may feel human again."

* Fosst enters, closing the door behind him and stops when he sees the coathooks. He begins wordlessly to undo the elaborate front of his cloak.

* Nacheyla pours him another shot. "Here..."

* Kevil nods at Sabrina. "I have some business to catch up on in the next days, but expect a reckoning before the end of the week." He smiles at her.

<Nacheyla> ::looks over:: Good evening, stranger. I'm Nacheyla, the barkeep... have a seat, please. Can I get you a drink?

* Bluestar has about half of the glass he's poured himself, and looks about the room. "At least this time you're not packed with students who have papers they should be writing or something."

* Kevil turns to eye the newcomer, then picks up another orange wedge and the shot glass.

* Sabrina glances back to Kevil and nods, smiling a bit, but her face still wearing a worried expression. "I will be"

* Fosst looks up at the sound of Nacheyla's voice, and pauses. He looks down for a moment before replying, "Ys... ahm..." He finishes hanging up his cloak--beneath, he is wearing a wrinkled traveler's outfit. His hair is stark black--it would be long, if it were not made in an elaborate knot that rests between his shoulder blades.

<Loria> ::sighing:: She... ::looking helpless:: Kevil-lin...

* Fosst steps up to the bar and sits down, and looks pensive.

<Kevil> ::looks over at Loria, the shot glass halfway to his lips:: Yes, Loria?

* Nacheyla moves over to stand in front of the newcomer. "Just ask what you like, sir. Mostly we stock a little of everything..." She smiles warmly.

* Sabrina glances between Kevil and Loria for a moment and then looks away. She turns to lean back against the bar and her gaze passes over the newcomer.

* Fosst nods, and sees the oranges beside Kevil's glass--he looks briefly entranced by them before looking up. "Those. Ynd... watr."

<Loria> ::laying her hand on his shoulder:: I don't know what to say to make you feel better, my heart.

* Nacheyla nods, fixing Fosst's drink as requested, sliding the plate of orange wedges across the bar at him.

* Sabrina slips off her stool and wanders down the bar, absently humming to herself. She passes by Bluestar without glancing at him.

* Kevil leans over to kiss the top of Loria's head. "It will be all right, n'shava... Zoya and I have fought before - and more violently - over less." He smiles faintly. "I need only some little time to recover, d'va?"

* Fosst takes them graciously, and examines an orange wedge at length, one eyebrow raised, before eating it.

* Loria takes a sip of wine, studying Kevil with a slightly worried look.

<Kevil> ::slams back the contents of the shot glass and bites into his second orange wedge:: Ah... I think, now, I will just have a meade. ::he raises an eyebrow at Nacheyla:: And perhaps I am ready for whatever it is you wish to say.

* Lisl enters, bringing the air of woods with her. Her cheeks are lightly pink, and her blue-grey eyes sparkle. She practically bounces as she crosses the floor to the bar. "*Good* evening, everyone. Good to see you well, Nach. Might I have a mug of 'kick, please? In fact-- drinks on me, this evening."

<Nacheyla> ::pouring him a meade, she looks at him closely:: You don't look so good, if you don't mind my saying so.

* Bluestar has the bottom half of his rum and grins randomly.

* Sabrina glances up as Lisl enters, and half smiles before going back to her thoughts and continuing to hum to herself.

<Nacheyla> ::raising an eyebrow at Lisl, she pours a stone mug about three-quarters full of the clear, slightly oily looking liquid::

* Fosst exhales tiredly and takes a long sip from his water before trying another orange slice, while turning his eyes to look around the establishment.

<Kevil> ::smiles grimly:: Ah, well, a pitched battle with pirates, followed by a night spent keeping this one ::he gestures at Loria:: from succumbing to a concussion, followed by a three-hour raging fight with Zoya - it hardly makes for a restful brace of days...

* Fosst grins for no apparent reason.

* Sabrina returns to the bar with her empty mug and slides to across to Nach.

* Bluestar perks up slightly. "Pirates?"

<Nacheyla> ::refills Sabrina's mug of water::

<Lisl> Three hours? ::accepting the mug from Nacheyla and toasting her with it before drinking, raising an eyebrow at Kevil:: Was that all?

<Sabrina> Thank you ::she smiles brightly and returns to her slow pacing and humming.

* Fosst listens.

<Kevil> ::nods tiredly:: Pirates. Out of your reach by now, I am afraid.

<Kevil> ::grins weakly at Lisl:: She is going soft.

<Kevil> But then, I foiled her on many accounts by agreeing with her.

* Bluestar shrugs. "I suppose I'd hear about it if it mattered."

* Lisl puts her mug down, running a finger around the rim. "Too bad I'd not thought to bring any of this with me... I could have thrown the Serpent quite the little going-away party..."

<Lisl> ::grins at Bluestar:: If you don't hear about it, it doesn't matter? Well, that's a... convenient way of looking at matters.

<Kevil> ::eyes Lisl's mug:: It is just as well, if we wished to survive the trip.

<Nacheyla> ::turning back to Kevil:: First off, you... ::shaking her finger at him::

<Bluestar> Not quite an accurate interpretation of my comments, Lady Ferinsdottir, but it is an appealing point of view.

<Kevil> ::looks back at Nacheyla expectantly::

* Loria bites her lip.

* Fosst finishes his water and the oranges, looking somewhat surprised. "They really -wer- orangys! Some mor, please."

<Lisl> Wait! ::reaches out and grabs Nacheyla's finger gently, studying it::

<Nacheyla> ::absently pushes a fruit basket at Fosst:: Here you go, sir...

<Nacheyla> ::snatching her hand back from Lisl:: What are you doing?

* Bluestar pours himself some more rum.

<Lisl> Just making sure it wasn't loaded. ::takes another swallow of 'kick, hiding a grin::

* Fosst helps himself, picking over the fruit as if seeing the world with a fresh eye.

<Nacheyla> ::sighs:: Lisl! ::glowers indiscriminately at the entire group::

* Sabrina sips her water and frowns a bit as her humming changes tune. She continues to pace.

* Bluestar meets Nacheyla's glower, toasting her with the rum. "To your health."

<Lisl> ::grins wider, putting the stone mug down again:: I can't help it. I'm in a good mood.

* Kevil sips his meade, waiting patiently for Nacheyla to get back to him.

<Nacheyla> ::exasperated:: Kevil! If you... ::looks completely at a loss, as if Lisl's good mood has completely thrown off what she wanted to say::

<Kevil> ::raises an eyebrow:: If I...?

<Lisl> ::grins, watching Nach alertly as if she were a spectator at some sport::

* Bai enters and surveys the room before walking to the bar and taking a seat, leaning his staff against the wall.

* Bluestar looks Lisl up and down. "And who do we have to blame for this?"

<Lisl> ::grins, and gestures expansively:: Thank Aerdrie. Thank Moon Dancer. In a roundabout way, you could even thank *me.*

<Nacheyla> ::hands on her hips, she makes an angry noise:: I. Kevil! Don't scare me like that again!

<Bluestar> I'm not thanking anyone. I was considering carefully planned strangulations, but that's a little too wide ranging a group to take on for one night's entertainment.

* Sabrina glances over at Nach looking a bit surprised. She drinks most of her water and continues her humming.

<Lisl> ::grins at Bluestar unrepentantly:: What, you don't *like* free... ::glances at his glass:: rum?

<Kevil> ::takes another sip of meade:: Like which, Blessed Lady? ::he smiles at her almost mischievously:: There were so many opportunities...

<Nacheyla> Any of it! Raiders! Pirates! Falling off the side of the ship! Kevil! ::looks completely frustrated:: Do you have *any* idea how hard it is to reach across those kinds of distances?

<Bluestar> Yes, rum. And I have no problem paying for it. What has that feathered goddess and that furry lout done to improve your mood?

* Loria blushes furiously and steps behind Kevil.

<Kevil> ::sighs:: First of all, falling off the ship would not have been a danger. ::he takes another sip:: And I certainly had no desire to be caught out by raiders or pirates, Lady.

<Lisl> ::raises an eyebrow at Nacheyla:: I'm not sure anyone else *here* does, Nach. ::eyes Bluestar for a moment, and nods towards him:: Except perhaps Sourpuss there. ::grins:: No offense intended, Master Bluestar.

<Bluestar> None taken, Mistress. Some of my most decorative end tables have called me that.

* Bai shakes his head, "I'm afraid I missed most of the topic of conversation."

<Nacheyla> ::in a very small voice which sounds like a little girl's:: Just be careful, please? Loria is precious to me... ::looks at him with wide eyes::

* Fosst returns a mostly emptied fruit basket.

* Sabrina turns as she reaches the wall and her skirt brushes Bai's staff. It hit the floor and Sabrina jumps and flushes brightly.

<Lisl> And as for what's put me in such a good mood... the trees, the sky, the air-- do I need a reason beyond those? ::eyes dancing::

<Bluestar> I can't see why you wouldn't.

* Bai turns and smiles, "It's alright miss."

* Bai picks his staff back up and leans it against the wall once more.

* Sabrina smiles at Bai "Sorry." She wanders away from the staff.

<Kevil> ::to Nach, abruptly very serious:: She is precious to me also, Lady. I will do what I can to keep her safe.

<Nacheyla> ::nodding:: You'll have plenty of opportunity... ::turning to Bai:: Get you something?

<Kevil> ::eyes Lisl dubiously:: If I had not been on the exact same ship, I would suspect you had been breathing stale air for the last few days, Lisl.

<Bai> Water is fine.

<Lisl> ::shakes her head:: Bluestar, Bluestar... you've spent too much time in the city. But since you ask, yes, I'm delighted to be back, but above that, I'm delighted to welcome two new members to my-- family. I'm a--- ::she pauses a moment, frowning and counting on several of her fingers before finally shrugging:: --an aunt!

<Nacheyla> ::pouring Bai a mug of water:: Here you are.

* Bluestar raises an eyebrow at Lisl. "Tell me your family tree does actually fork, and that wasn't what you were puzzling out."

* Sabrina places her empty mug back on the bar top and slides back onto a stool.

* Bai sips his water, "Congratulations Lisl."

<Kevil> ::blinks:: An aunt? ::he grins widely:: Congratulations! Two - twins?

<Nacheyla> ::absently refills Sabrina's mug before turning to Fosst:: Are you still hungry, sir?

<Lisl> ::coughs:: Yes. My family tree forks quite nicely, thank you. ::scowling for a moment at Bluestar, but unable to hold it for long against the grin::

* Sabrina smiles at Nach and takes a long drink.

<Fosst> "Some more watr, please."

<Nacheyla> ::refills Fosst's glass:: Here you are...

* Loria sips her wine, her face thoughtful.

<Lisl> Yes, twins, one-- one boy, one girl. And blessed early in the season for them, too. I didn't think they'd be looked for for a couple months, yet.

<Bai> So is this your local family Lisl, or your more distant relatives?

<Bluestar> Very well, then. Congratulations on the new... yippersnappers.

* Fosst takes it in hand and stands, walking over to Bai. He nods politely and asks, "Good day, sir--may I hav some conference with you?"

* Bai gestures to a stool, "Certainly. What can I help you with?"

* Kevil sips his meade and swallows slowly, finally relaxing just a little. He puts an arm around Loria's shoulders and smiles at Lisl. "Ah, I see... Felicitations, then."

<Lisl> ::looking at Bai speculatively:: Local as in nearby. More distant in family line. ::shrugging a shoulder:: "Aunt" is the convenient term-- the actual relation is a little more... complicated.

* Bai nods to Lisl, "Geographically was what I meant."

* Fosst takes a seat, and sips tentatively from his glass. "Your staff, by the door--does it mean you travel, sir?"

* Bai shrugs, "I don't travel as a living, but I have travelled a great deal."

* Nacheyla shakes her head, taking a sip of her juice. She presses one hand to her stomach and makes a slight face.

* Lisl takes another swallow of 'kick, leaning back against the bar with a smile and eyeing the newcomer, ear cocked to his odd accent.

<Loria> ::taking another sip of wine, asking Kevil:: Are you feeling better?

* Fosst nods. "Ah--but, you would know the city well? Or perhaps, its people?"

<Kevil> ::nods:: Some. A night's sleep would be a boon.

<Loria> ::mischievously:: Oh, well... if you're sure...

* Sabrina finishes her water and pushes her mug away

* Bai shrugs, "I know it better than some and not as well as others. It would be easier if you simple asked your question rather than attempting to ascertain whether I can answer it."

<Kevil> ::laughs and murmurs into Loria's ear, grinning::

<Nacheyla> ::refills Sabrina's mug::

* Sabrina smiles at Nach and pushes back the mug. "I think I am done thank you"

<Lisl> ::turns on her stool again, studying Nacheyla:: So, aside from worrying yourself grey... how have you been in our absence? You got ahold of Xarroch, didn't you?

<Loria> ::blushing:: You!

* Fosst sips from his glass. "My apologys, sir--it is a stryng question I ask. Befor I ask, I may introduce myself--I am Fosst."

* Bluestar leans toward Lisl, and speaks quietly. "In case you were curious, Tyl'Gainia has reached Waterdeep. She's fine."

<Nacheyla> ::nodding:: He's been taking care of hunting for me, while you've been gone.

* Bai nods to Fosst, "I am Bai."

<Lisl> ::nods to Nacheyla:: There's something in back for you I picked up on my way here, if you like... ::looks at Bluestar with a frown:: Reached Waterdeep? What do you mean?

<Kevil> ::grins and hugs Loria before taking another sip of meade::

* Bluestar looks at Lisl speculatively for a bit. "That's right... you've got a bit of catching up to do, don't you?"

* Fosst smiles. "The day is good that I myt you, sir Bai. My question is that, I am looking for an artisan who ys blind." He sips from his mug and continues hesitantly, "Do yu know of one?"

<Bai> Any artisan or one in particular?

<Lisl> ::frowns at Bluestar:: Are you trying to ruin my-- admittedly rare-- good mood, or has something actually happened?

* Fosst looks blank for a moment before continuing. "Ah--anyone. A--... hmm. Sylvr-worker."

<Bluestar> ::completely serious:: Many things happened, Lisl. You didn't think the world stopped spinning simply because you left, did you?

<Kevil> ::quietly, to Loria:: Have you had a chance to distribute the gifts you brought, yet?

<Loria> ::shaking her head:: No, not yet... ::pulls out her dagger and looks at it again, before sliding the silver blade back into the sheath:: I've been thinking...

<Lisl> ::narrows her eyes:: Something that I might view as important or momentous. Stop bandying words, Bluestar.

* Bai shakes his head, "I'm afraid not. Might I inquire of your business should I hear of one?"

<Bluestar> My sister-in-law left a damned NOTE behind, and absconded for Waterdeep.

* Fosst pauses, and finishes the remaining half of his water in one draw.

<Kevil> ::nods, smiling:: Did you bring that stone?

<Lisl> ::frowns:: Tyl's left? Again? She doesn't have her memory back? Has anyone gone after her? Is Jel alright?

<Loria> ::nodding::

<Bluestar> Yes, yes, sort of, no, and I don't know.

* Fosst inclines his left hand so that Bai can see it--it's covered with nicks, scars, and marks, criss-crossing it like a hash of cobwebs. On his ring finger is a small, thin, dull ring made of silver.

<Lisl> ::blinks and frowns deeper, lips moving in repeat of Bluestar's answers before her brow clears:: Ah. Why not?

<Fosst> "I wysh to have thys article removvd."

* Loria takes the small glassy stone from her pocket, laying it on the table. "Blessed Mother?"

<Bluestar> She had her memories placed back in her, but... it's not as if she lived them, but as if she watched them. She raced off to Waterdeep to try to get a better sense of herself. I've decided to let her have her head for a while, and run the school in her absence. I don't know what Jelarthna's up to, precisely.

<Nacheyla> ::turning to Loria:: Yes, dear?

* Bai looks at the ring, "Is there a reason you need a blind silversmith?"

<Lisl> ::frowns:: So... she's... well, but... still not herself. ::takes another swallow of 'kick, thinking:: Dammit. What did the note say?

* Sabrina watches Loria and Nach, resting her chin in her hand

<Loria> ::shyly:: I... ::studies her hands:: I found this in the desert, after... ::blushing:: After Missa and I were rescued. I... thought you might like to have it.

* Fosst retracts his hand, and looks visibly unsure of how to respond. He takes an apple in the other hand and fidgets with it a moment before replying, "Yes," and biting into it.

* Nacheyla looks strangely touched and picks the rock up off the bar, studying it. As she holds it, the whole stone begins glowing a soft shade of yellow.

<Bluestar> Essentially, she felt she had to go, she promised to return, and that she'd write Glossaria when the mood struck her, to let us all know how she was doing.

<Bai> Well I wish you luck in find one then.

<Lisl> Hm. ::slumps down on her stool a little:: So... we probably shouldn't go after her just yet... ::looking up at Bluestar:: You're keeping an eye on her, you said?

<Kevil> ::turns to the newcomer and Bai:: Is it for their protection, or your own? ::he grins:: My apologies - I am Kevil Talarin, Master Bard, at your service sir. ::he offers a hand::

* Fosst nods. "Many thanks, sir, for your patience."

<Nacheyla> ::leaning over the bar, she kisses Loria on the forehead:: Thank you, Child. It's lovely...

* Fosst nods and smiles to Kevil, and shakes hands. "I am Fosst. The day is good that I myt you. And..."

<Bluestar> I didn't say that. You can assume it, if you think I'd have resources capable of such at my beck and call in Waterdeep.

* Bai shakes his head, "It wasn't a problem, I only regret not being able to assist you more."

* Loria blushes furiously, looking pleased.

<Lisl> ::slow smile:: In that case, I'll assume away. ::musing:: And she said she'd write Gloss... ::nods:: Alright. Thank you for telling me. ::takes another swallow of 'kick::

* Sabrina watches the stone glow "It's very pretty"

* Fosst responds to Bai, saying, "No, good syr--yt is a stryng question. You have byn most kind."

* Bluestar has another drink of rum. "Oh, and that cousin of yours enjoyed the hospitality of Marsember's finest for a while."

<Loria> ::turning to Sabrina:: I found it in the desert... my friend and I got kidnapped by some raiders... ::smiling warmly at Lisl and Kevil:: We were rescued, but I... ::she trails off, uncertainly::

<Fosst> "The ryng poses danger of many kynds--it ys a blind sylvr-smith who would be lyst troubled by its--... consyquence."

<Kevil> ::ponders Fosst's problem:: Must he be truly blind? Or would a blindfold serve as well, once the cutters are in position?

<Lisl> Marsember's-- ::her face turns red, briefly, as she struggles to get the 'kick down the right pipe:: Lini was arrested? How? Why? When? Who sprang her?

<Bai> I'll tell you about it later Lisl. The short of it is that Jaret and I found a way to prove she was innocent.

* Nacheyla blinks at Lisl's cascade of questions. "Slow down, Lisl..."

* Sabrina watches Loria for a moment and smiles "I'm glad you are ok. Did you enjoy your holiday? Aside from the raiders" she grins

<Loria> ::nodding enthusiastically:: Very much so...

<Loria> ::thoughtfully:: Although I could have done without the pirates, too.

<Sabrina> ::Smiles brightly:: I'm glad.

<Fosst> "He would wyr that blyndfold the rest his days were he not blind when the work was done--else his gaze be the dystant of the sightless."

<Lisl> ::whirls to Bai:: You knew? So she's out? She's alright? Gods above and below... ::slumps back on her stool again with a sigh::

<Bluestar> Well, let's see. Arrested in the usual fashion, I imagine. Bunch of Purple Dragons shout "Halt you there," and so on. She killed one of the ladies-in-waiting to the new ambassador... ah, well. He'll handle all the details. ::gesturing over his shoulder to Bai::

<Kevil> Hmm... ::raises his eyebrows and eyes Fosst:: And your own sight? Will you, too, be struck blind?

* Bai nods, "I had hoped to discuss the matter with you later. But yes, she's alright."

* Sabrina frowns slightly and then shakes her head. She glances at Lisl and smiles slightly.

* Fosst wipes his brow. "I... am nyt sure. It ys a dark sorcyry that works."

<Lisl> ::raises an eyebrow at Bluestar:: She's *my* cousin, Bluestar. I strongly doubt she got arrested in "the usual fashion" or I'd have seen the recruiting posters in town for the Dragons to replenish their ranks...

<Bluestar> I think that's most of what you missed, Lady Ferinsdottir. Oh, and Sanriel and that girl of his went home for the holidays, and I think they had a little bit of excitement while they were there, but nothing much.

* Bai looks at Fosst, "Have you considered having a priest or mage attempt to remove it? It sounds like a curse of some form."

* Fosst touches his temple briefly and looks to shake a feeling off before biting again into his apple, looking again complacent.

<Nacheyla> ::giggling, she leans over and whispers something to Lisl::

* Fosst lowers his eyebrows. "Curs...?"

<Kevil> Hmm. ::he bends to examine the ring closely and nods at Bai's suggestion:: I know no blind silversmiths, but a number of powerful and excellent mages.

<Lisl> ::glances sharply in Fosst's direction for a moment at the sound of the word in his accent, shaking her head as she looks away again::

<Kevil> Even if the ring is not truly *cursed*, a mage may undo whatever enchantment lies on your ring.

* Sabrina glances over at Kevil and Fosst for a moment before turning back to Loria

* Fosst begins to sweat. "Yuu knou--... my syr, I mynt not to bothyr yuu--"

* Fosst shakes himself again. "You know of many--sorcerers?"

<Lisl> ::coughs, and turns to boggle at Nacheyla::

* Nacheyla smiles serenely.

<Kevil> ::blinks in confusion:: No, Master Fosst - it was I who interrupted your conversation... but there are after all many mages in this city. It is inevitable that one knows some of them. ::he smiles disarmingly::

* Bluestar shrugs at Lisl. "Well, since she wasn't accused of killing several Dragons into the bargain, I assumed she hadn't indulged herself, but blood knows best, I suppose."

<Lisl> Hm. ::shakes her head at Nach, looking back and forth between her and Bluestar:: Can't leave you lot alone for a *week*, I swear...

* Fosst wipes his brow again. "More watr, please. -- I have no busyness bothering sorcerers. This is a problem tryvial for their likeness."

<Nacheyla> ::pours him another glass of water, a very strange smile on her face::

<Kevil> ::eyes Fosst again, taking in his obvious discomfort:: There are not many sorcerers, where you are from, I take it? And they are not much liked, d'va?

* Fosst shakes his head slowly.

<Lisl> ::snorts at Nacheyla's expression:: And you'd likely say the same of us, I imagine, given what we got into on... holiday. ::glances at Kevil with a hint of a grin::

* Sabrina suddenly smiles absently and glances back at Kevil.

* Bluestar has some more rum. "Don't worry about me. I've been completely idle, innocent of any wrong doings. And I have ten magistrates who will swear to that at the drop of a hat, too." He grins.

* Fosst asks, "Mean you that, there are many -here-?"

* Bai sips his water, "Well not at this moment Fosst, but yes, quite a few."

<Lisl> Ha. I'm sure you do. But I'm equally sure that your students kept *you* out of trouble. Mostly. ::grins back at him::

* Fosst sips his water, looking visibly relaxed. "Clearly, we speak of different sorcerers, then."

<Kevil> ::smiles:: I see. Forgive me, then, good Sir - I had not meant to startle or disturb you. Certainly if you prefer to avoid mages and sorcery, there is no more to be said. But - having already broached the subject, I beg you to allow me to continue a bit: I have good friends who are mages, who are just and good people, who would count it an honor to assist you. One who is also a priestess, if such a thing would be of comfort.

* Bluestar shrugs. "Mostly."

<Lisl> ::grins at Kevil's back, listening in on the conversation:: More than one, come to that...

* Fosst thinks. "This place is, dyfferent than what I thought. If the sorcerers are dyfferent as well, then--I have little to gain by ygnoring them."

<Kevil> ::grins and nods:: A brave soul! ::he grins:: As luck would have it... ::he nods at Bai:: Our friend here is a priest, and ::he glances over his shoulder at Nach:: ...the barkeep enjoys a... special relationship with her goddess. ::his grin turns somewhat lopsided:: Perhaps they might assist?

* Sabrina glances back at Fosst "Some of them are very nice" she smiles

* Lisl stands, bringing her mug over and offering Fosst a casual half-bow in the elven fashion. "Lisl Ferinsdottir. Sorry, couldn't help overhearing-- you have a most unusual accent, Master Fosst. Might I ask where you hail from?"

* Nacheyla laughs. "That's a unique way of putting it, Kevil... "

* Fosst reaches back to scratch his hair, but pauses midway, and wipes his brow again. "I am Fosst--the day ys good that I myt you--you, all."

<Kevil> ::turns to grin at Nach:: I am glad the description pleases you, Lady Imp. Would it please you also to assist Master Fosst?

* Fosst looks briefly between his ring and Nacheyla.

<Nacheyla> ::shrugging:: If you like... ::glances at Fosst:: What exactly is the problem? I'm sorry, sir, I wasn't listening.

* Sabrina glances at Nach and then back to Fosst "She is one of the nice ones" she half whispers to him.

<Lisl> ::grins at Kevil:: She didn't say it pleased her. Just that it was unique. ::Shakes her head with a grin:: Bards.

<Fosst> "I come from Northyrn Lands, miss--Ferinsdottir? Charmyng."

<Lisl> The Wastes? ::raises an eyebrow:: I've been there a time or two... and please, call me Lisl.

<Kevil> ::grins at Lisl:: She laughed, did she not? I believe this is an indication of pleasure...

<Fosst> "Wastes? Yn this language, they are called thy Uthgardt."

* Fosst smiles a little nervously at Sabrina's whisper.

* Sabrina wrinkles her nose a bit "Does not sound very pleasant, as either name"

* Bai sips his water and watches.

* Fosst looks at his ring, and the ghost of a wild expression passes over his face.

<Fosst> "What wyl it cost?"

* Nacheyla turns to Fosst expectantly. "Tell me about it? If you wish? I will see what I can do."

* Sabrina smiles encouragingly at Fosst

<Nacheyla> ::looks startled:: Cost? What on earth do I need more coins for?

<Fosst> "Then--plys, good miss, be sure that first, it costs you none to remov it. I gyv you deep thanks, from the byrds of my bonecage."

* Bai chuckles, "I don't know Nacheyla, but they do seem to be very popular."

<Lisl> ::grins at Kevil:: Jackals laugh, too... Uthgardt... ::rubs her nose thoughtfully:: Ah! Of course! ::grins, and rattles off a series of gutturals with the upward lilt of an interrogative on the end:: {In a fairly passable, if rather growly, accent of Uthgardt toungue, she asks, "Had you good hunting on your path to the Warm Lands?"}

<Nacheyla> ::extends her hand, palm up, to Fosst:: Give me your hand.

* Sabrina watches Nach closely and curiously

* Fosst is, for a moment, wildly distracted by Lisl's sudden ejection of Uthgardt. He chatters something off rapidly, in clear surprise. Replying rapidly and with rolling throaty syllables, in contrast to his awkward Common accent, he replies, {There's--there's a -road- to this place? I had to sail for two weeks on a wretched boat!}

* Kevil listens to the new language intently, then grins at Lisl. "Show-off."

<Lisl> ::grins at Kevil, and looks back at Fosst, rattling off another series of gutturals::{The road passes through the Spine of the World, and the Great Sand Sea, but yes, a road of sorts.}

* Loria ducks under Kevil's arm, snuggling up to his side, looking curiously at what is going on.

* Sabrina glances between Lisl and Fosst

* Fosst rolls of a number of throaty sounds. {I would speak at length with you, Lady,} Lady in a familiar and honorific sense of the word, which would translate poorly into Common, {but I'm afraid that the affair of this ring is pressing.}

* Bluestar rolls his eyes and has some more rum.

<Kevil> ::eyes Lisl suspiciously:: What's ::a handful of word, repeated from Lisl's commentary:: mean? ::he slides his arm around Loria almost absently, concentrating on the speech::

<Lisl> ::grins and nods to Fosst, waving a hand:: Later, then. Nice to chat with someone who knows what good hunting's like...

<Fosst> ::smiles:: "Y wuld trai--" ::he coughs into his right hand:: "I would try to give you good speech, miss. Now, though..."

* Fosst turns to face Nacheyla. "Forgyve me for testing your patience... here, the ryng." ::calmly extends his left hand::

<Kevil> ::cocks his head, and repeats Fosst's last sentences to himself, quietly and slowly, mulling over the sounds::

<Lisl> And never fear, Fosst-- Lady Nacheyla is a priestess of no mean power, and no sorcerer.

<Nacheyla> ::smiling serenely:: No worries... I have oodles of patience... ::touches her stomach lightly:: It comes with the territory. If I wasn't patient, I'd have killed Xarroch by now. ::she beams at him, taking Fosst's hand and studying the ring intently::

<Fosst> "I fyr for her sake more, but--she takes yt willingly."

* Fosst relaxes, and takes a bit of the apple, mumbling something guttural. {What marvelous fruit...}

* Sabrina turns her attention back to Nach, watching her curiously again. After a moment she glances at Fosst

* Lisl chuckles, and takes another swallow of 'kick.

<Nacheyla> ::muttering to herself:: Hang on... ::she closes her eyes briefly. With a strange note of music, a small, star shaped stone pops into existence and starts circling her head, chirbling merrily::

* Sabrina blinks and looks up at the star.

* Bluestar snorts a laugh into his rum.

* Kevil leans back against the bar, gently pulling Loria against him and lifting his meade for a sip as he watches the doings.

<Lisl> ::smiles, muttering:: Well, well... long time no see...

<Nacheyla> ::smiling fondly at the stone:: So, what do you think, Duriel?

* Bai sips his water and watches.

<Nacheyla> ::the small stone bounces around, squeaking enthusiastically::

<Nacheyla> ::wincing:: Oh, that's just *wrong*. ::turning to Fosst:: Who did this to you?

<Fosst> "That ys a story of my own, miss--perhaps one dy, if no yll comes of this, I will tell you at lyngth."

<Nacheyla> ::nodding:: Well, it wasn't very nice... Bluestar, come here, if you would...

* Bluestar drains the rum and stands up. "What is it?"

* Sabrina glances at Fosst giving him an encouraging smile

* Fosst smiles a little back, still looking a bit nervous.

<Nacheyla> There's an anti-psionics on this... ::frowning:: I've never seen a spell like this before... want to have a look-see?

* Sabrina smiles at Fosst "My name is Sabrina."

* Fosst nods. "Good is the day that I myt you. How ys the drynk?"

* Bluestar shrugs. "Oh, sure. It's been too long since I've been blasted by a cursed item, anyway."

<Sabrina> It's very good ::grins:: Have you been in Marsember for long?

<Nacheyla> ::laughing:: I didn't say *do* anything about it. I just thought you might be interested... professional curiosity or something.

<Lisl> ::murmuring:: Or not long enough, for some, I'm sure...

* Bluestar concentrates and looks at the ring. "All right... it's related to what Tyl'Gainia used to do with the torcs, but a magical version of the effect."

<Bluestar> And I *heard* that, Ferinsdottir.

<Fosst> "Today. Actually, I've yt to find a resydence for the nyght--though I plan to stay longer than the nyght only."

* Lisl smiles cheerily at Bluestar. "And some say the ears are the first to go..."

<Sabrina> ::nods:: There are rooms here at the Hall. I understand it's quite nice.

<Nacheyla> ::the small star swoops around Fosst's head, then bounces up and down on the ring a few times, churbling::

<Kevil> ::eyes Sabrina:: I thought you had stayed here, for a time, songbird?

* Bai nods, "It's not extravagant, but it's certainly comfortable

* Fosst smiles congenially, and his expression turns to surprise before he can reply as the star whirls around his hand.

<Nacheyla> ::waving at the star:: Don't mind him... he's just excitable..

<Fosst> "Rylly? Eheh."

* Bluestar stands up straight and looks at Nacheyla. "It's effective enough, but it lacks in elegance. Sort of like a cloak designed by a blind man."

* Sabrina glances over at Kevil and looks thoughtful. "I don't think so. The first few weeks are kind of blurry though."

<Kevil> Ah.. ::he nods, and turns his attention back to Nacheyla and Fosst::

<Nacheyla> ::humming:: Too bad you weren't in town last month... then you could have just slipped it off...

<Lisl> ::grins:: Useful enough, if you don't mind puce?

* Fosst chatters something in Uthgardt. {It's a silver ring, not puce! That'd be an ignoble shade to pick.}

<Nacheyla> All righty... ::takes a deep breath:: Everyone close your eyes, this is likely to be bright...

* Sabrina turns back to Fosst

* Loria closes her eyes immediately and turns her back, just to be sure.

<Bluestar> Or the fact that it drags on the ground behind you, or... like that. ::he plucks his rum bottle and glass off the bar and turns his back on Nacheyla and Fosst.::

* Lisl nods and turns her head away, closing her eyes and covering the mouth of her mug with one hand.

* Kevil closes his eyes tightly, pulling Loria a little closer.

* Sabrina closes her eyes and turns a bit away from Nach.

* Fosst closes his eyes calmly.

* Bai turns his back on Nach and Fosst as well.

* Lisl chuckles, muttering a response in Uthgardt, keeping her eyes closed. {Bluestar [and his name is directly translated] was comparing your curse to a blind man's cloak... if you can't see the color, what's it matter to you?}

<Nacheyla> ::nodding to herself, she looks around the room to make sure no one is peeking, then pulls out her sword-hilt, the blade, as always, in some other plane:: Hold still. ::she raises the sword and brings it down onto the bar, snapping the blade up quickly, just enough to crack the ring::

<Nacheyla> ::a blindingly bright flash of light erupts from the ring as a high ringing sound echoes through the air. The ring falls to the bar top, cracked in two::

* Fosst opens his eyes, and falls backward a bit, trying to regain his balance.

* Bluestar turns around, setting bottle and glass back on the bar. "And now I remember why I come here so infrequently."

<Nacheyla> ::resheathing her sword hilt, she blinks several times, her eyes changing shade from amber to red and back again:: Ow.

<Kevil> ::cracks an eyelid, then opens both eyes with a grin::

* Sabrina peeks back, looking to the broken ring on the bar top and then to Fosst "Are ya ok?"

* Bai turns back around, "You alright Nacheyla?"

<Lisl> Ow. ::cracks open an eye and rubs her ears:: Some things you *forgot* to warn about, Nach...

<Lisl> Ahh, be honest, Bluestar, you just can't stay away from the excitement.

<Nacheyla> ::shaking out her sword hand:: Yeah...

<Bluestar> Got it in one, Ferinsdottir. I just can't seem to tear myself away.

* Fosst rubs his left ring-finger, looking at it with the dark, wide eyes that one uses to look upon a diamond mine.

* Bluestar points at Fosst. "One more thing, you. Are you any good with directions?"

<Kevil> ::grins at Fosst::

* Fosst looks up quickly at Nacheyla. "Are you hurt?"

<Nacheyla> ::still shaking her hand:: Ow... I hate that... my whole hand is numb...

* Loria opens her eyes, looking awed.

* Fosst turns his distant expression toward Bluestar. "Oahhh--yes."

* Sabrina looks over to Nach.

* Nacheyla nods absently. "I'm fine... "

* Lisl sticks a finger in her right ear, wiggling it for a moment and shaking her head.

<Bluestar> Right. Listen to me carefully. From here, go five streets towards the harbor, take a left, follow it to the fountain, and look for the series of the buildings on your right. That's the school. I'd advise you to consider attending, if that ring was put on you for the reasons I think it was.

* Fosst nods.

<Kevil> ::raises an eyebrow at Bluestar's abrupt commentary, then shrugs and takes another sip of his meade::

<Nacheyla> Sorry, Lisl... ::rubbing feeling back into her hand::

<Fosst> "Then--well now..." ::mutters something to himself in Uthgardt as he sits down, and then directs his speech to Lisl:: {An awesomely accepting place--. Then, by school he means a school for the ghost arts.} (The Uthgardt term for psionics.) {It's a societal norm, or simply accepted?}

* Bluestar hammers back one last rum, and drops a small stack of silvers on the bar top. "Well, it's been lovely, everyone. I'll drop back by in a few months, check the foundation for new cracks, that sort of thing. Good night."

<Lisl> S'okay, Nach. ::frowns at Bluestar, puzzled:: You think so?

<Bai> Goodnight Master Bluestar.

* Nacheyla hands the coins back to Bluestar. "I think Lisl's got the tab tonight, Professor."

* Bluestar looks at Lisl. "The ring stifles psionics. I imagine they didn't put on him for the fall fashion extravaganza."

* Sabrina glances up at Bluestar as he goes and then back to the group around the bar.

<Lisl> ::nods:: That I do. It's on me, Bluestar. Just don't take that literally.

* Bluestar repockets his silver. "Quite right. Thanks for the hooch, Ferinsdottir. Congratulations on the new ones."

<Kevil> ::looks curious:: Zoya perhaps would be interested in such an item... Lady Imp, is the magic still within? Would there be anything for her to see?

* Loria turns to Kevil.

<Lisl> ::nods:: And cursed to stay on him. Hm. ::grins and waves at Bluestar:: My pleasure. G'night, Bluestar!

* Bluestar pulls his hood up as he exits, vanishing into the blackness behind the door.

<Nacheyla> ::shrugging:: Perhaps... ::picks the pieces up and hands them to Fosst::

* Fosst nods, and takes them, closing a fist around them.

* Sabrina looks over to Fosst and smiles absently before standing.

<Loria> Shall we? You'll at least walk me home, if you're so tired that you must rush off? :;grinning wryly::

<Fosst> "How can I thank you, miss..."

* Bai finishes his water, "Whenever you're ready Lisl I can fill you in on what's been happening."

<Nacheyla> ::smiling:: My name's Nacheyla... and I don't mind. Nice to be able to help out.

<Lisl> Mmm? ::cocks an ear towards Fosst as he asks a question in Uthgardt:: Ghost--? Oh. Psionics. ::rattles off a response in Uthgardt:: {It is not common here-- anywhere, I believe-- but beginning acceptance. The school is new. ::speculatively:: I have friends there. And the mage the Silvertongue speaks of is also a friend, and a priestess. You may be at ease that she will do nothing to harm you or yours with the pieces.}

<Kevil> ::eyes Fosst hesitantly:: If... you find that you wish to be rid of that - my friend who is a mage studies such things, and would be grateful for the opportunity. She would pay well for the pieces.

<Lisl> ::nods, taking another swallow of 'kick:: Thanks, Bai, I'd appreciate it.

<Kevil> ::turns back to Loria:: I was not planning on "rushing off", but yes, I am tired, and we should go...

<Loria> ::laughing, she links her arm in his::

* Fosst examines the pieces with a glowering expression, and extends them in offering to Kevil. "Freely was I made ryd of it, and freely wyll I give it."

<Kevil> ::grins as he takes the pieces of ring from Fosst:: On behalf of Zoya, I thank you, Master Fosst. I hope to meet you again soon. ::he bows elegantly, then grins and turns to lead Loria out::

<Sabrina> Good night Kevil, Loria

<Loria> ::smiling, Loria curtseys to Nacheyla, and then to the room:: Goodnight!

<Kevil> ::casts a glance over his shoulder at Sabrina:: Be ready, Apprentice!

<Lisl> G'night, Kevil. ::grins:: Good to see she left you some skin.

<Lisl> G'night, Loria, good to see you well again.

* Kevil grins quickly at Lisl before following Loria out.

* Fosst replies to Lisl in Uthgardt, in rolling, almost noble tones. {Tis a good thing to know--many thanks, miss Lisl. It would be best to part with them as quickly as possible, and--learn about the ghost arts, I imagine.}

* Lisl smiles at Fosst, raising an eyebrow as she answers. {Have you skill of them?}

<Fosst> "Miss Nacheyla, are there rooms for the nyght here?"

<Nacheyla> ::nodding:: Several... ::thinks:: Up the stairs, third on the left. Should meet your needs.

* Fosst pauses, and gestures obliquely with one hand as he speaks the guttural tongue. {The many and varied kingdoms of the Uthgardt have a collective hatred for all things and persons associated with the ghost-arts, as I'm sure you know--consequently I have no skill, but as to why is a story I've yet to retell.}

* Sabrina grins and shakes her head lightly as Kevil walks out. She glances between Lisl and Fosst then smiles to Nach "I guess I should be off too. Nice to see you again Nacheyla."

<Lisl> ::smiles:: Good night, sleep sweet, Sabrina. ::glances at Fosst, and back to her:: If you'd like, I can teach you a little. ::grins:: I imagine Kevil'll be pounding down my door for lessons soon enough.

<Nacheyla> ::waving to Sabrina:: Take care, dear.

* Fosst nods, and waves to Sabrina.

<Lisl> ::chuckles richly at Fosst's comment:: Skill no, talent yes, hmm?

* Fosst replies once more in Uthgardt. {Correct--it's complicated. Moreover, it's long. Roughly as long as I am old.}

* Sabrina nods to Lisl "I'd like that Lisl, thank you" she waves a bit to Fosst and then turns to go, wrapping her cloak around her "Goodnight all" she grins and slips out into the night.

<Lisl> ::laughs again, and says another few words back to Fosst:: {I am of elven blood. Believe me, I have time.}

* Fosst finishes his water.

* Fosst speaks thoughtfully in response. {Perhaps then, one day. Barring any ill should come of the removal of my accursed burden.}

<Lisl> ::nods, glancing towards Nacheyla:: Any likelihood he's going to have ill effects from that little bauble, Nach? ::nods to Fosst::

<Nacheyla> ::shaking her head:: I'm not absolutely certain, but I wouldn't think so...

<Fosst> "At what pryce are the rooms here, Miss Nacheyla? Please let me repay your kyndness in some amount."

<Nacheyla> ::studies Fosst thoughtfully:: Usually about three silver a night. We can work something out if you're going to be here long term...

* Fosst nods. "Yn a city as givyng as this, I would wish to stay for quite some tyme. But it ys a far game--the three coins for tonyght?" ::goes to his cloak, and rummages around inside it::

<Nacheyla> ::to Lisl:: Is Loria all right? ::looking concerned:: She seemed really frightened yesterday.

<Lisl> An Uthgardt, liking cities? ::shakes her head with a small smile, finishing off her mug of 'kick:: You certainly don't fit the stereotype, Master Fosst.

* Fosst replies with a sly voice, "Few Uthgardt choose a lyfe of travel, Miss Lisl."

<Lisl> ::turning to Nach, her smile fading:: She took a couple of hits when we were attacked by pirates on the way back... one to the back of the head with a knife-butt, and one to the heart... I think she's recovered of both of them, but it took time.

<Nacheyla> ::nodding:: Keep an eye on her, would you? I would, but you know, it makes her a little uncomfortable if I'm around too much.

* Fosst returns with his coat and the three coins, giving them to Nacheyla.

* Nacheyla sweeps the coins into the lockbox. "Thanks... "

<Lisl> ::grins at Fosst:: Ahh, some Uthgardt would say they do naught but travel... they just don't travel very far afield. ::looks back at Nach with a nod, and pats her hand:: Will do. ::cocks her head:: You can't keep any, um, other eyes on her? ::points upward briefly, shielding the gesture from Fosst with her body::

* Fosst bows to her, and turns to Bai. "Many thanks to you, syr Bai--chance brought me to thys place, and chance led me to conversation wyth you, which has byn most good in consyquence."

* Bai nods to Fosst, "You're quite welcome."

<Nacheyla> ::patting Lisl on the shoulder from over the bar:: You know what I mean... be there, if she needs to talk?

<Lisl> ::nods, looking slightly uncomfortable:: I'm bad at it, you know... but... sure. Well as I can.

<Nacheyla> ::laughing:: Yes, but she likes you...

<Lisl> ::chuckles and rolls her eyes:: Aerdrie only knows why....

* Fosst rubs his eyes, and raises a hand subconsciously. His half-eaten apple on the counter flies into it, and he takes a bite. "Good nyght, most good company."

<Nacheyla> ::raises an eyebrow:: Good night...

<Lisl> ::raises both eyebrows:: Psionics school, indeed.... sleep sweet, Master Fosst.

<Nacheyla> ::starts shooing the mugs into the kitchen::

* Bai nods, "Goodnight Fosst."

<Lisl> ::watching him as he disappears up the stairs:: Now that's an interesting one, alright... ::grins at Bai:: And you, Bai, were playing coy. I'd never have expected it of you...

* Bai shrugs, "I like to think I can be rather good at it when peoples lives may be on the line."

<Bai> And besides, it's not like I was lying. Last time I saw him he wasn't blind.

<Lisl> ::blinks:: ...oh. Heh. Good point. ::rubs a hand over her hair:: Forgot that part...

* Nacheyla looks pointedly at Lisl. "So... you're paying the tab tonight?"

<Bai> So where would you like to hear about Lini's adventure?

<Lisl> ::grins:: Yes. What's the damage?

<Lisl> Mmm... mind walking us back to Ellesmere, Bai? I listen better on my feet.

<Nacheyla> ::considers:: Oh... ::counting on her fingers and muttering:: And oranges at this time of year... ::smiling:: How about five gold?

* Bai stands and picks up his staff, "Not at all. I didn't realize you were staying there."

<Nacheyla> ::sternly admonishes the dishes about some spots, then closes the kitchen door::

<Lisl> Ha! Like the Hall has any problem getting *anything*... ::grins:: low-way robbery, but I'm in a good mood. ::digs into her pouch, and flips a platinum piece to Nach's palm:: Keep the change.

<Lisl> ::nods:: Staying there for Nach's lying-in. ::glances at Nach:: Not that she's doing much of that, mind.

<Nacheyla> ::laughing, she drops the piece into the lockbox:: All right, I'm ready... ::waves her hand, dimming the fires:: Let's go...

* Bai holds the door for Nach and Lisl, "After you, ladies."

* Nacheyla grabs her cloak, wrapping it around her as she exits.

* Lisl smiles, stretching her hands up towards the bright half-moon in a huge yawn as she trails Nacheyla out.

* Bai exits closing the door behind him.
