* Sabrina is sitting on the sofa in the living room, her feet folded up under her. * Tarri comes in, shutting the door against a brisk, chilly breeze, and pulling her cloak off. "Brr! It keeps getting *colder *!" She smiles at Sabrina. "You look cozy." * Sabrina grins at Tarri and hops off the sofa, her music floating to the floor. "It's nice and toasty in here." <Tarri> ::nods as she hangs her cloak on the peg by the fireplace:: It feels nice in here... Well, I'm all registered with the Temple; I'll move over there in a few days. * Sabrina nods and picks up her music. <Tarri> What have you been up to all morning? ::She flops onto the couch:: Practicing? * Sabrina nods and sits next to Tarri. "Since Kevil has been gone I have been slacking off." she grins sheepishly "I have some catching up to do." <Tarri> ::laughs:: When is he coming back? <Sabrina> I dunno. Hopefully not for a few more weeks. I am supposed to learn a new instrument. Val is teaching me the mandolin, but I am afraid I am not picking it up very well. <Tarri> Oh, I'm sure you'll pick it up in no time! Look how well you did with the harp! And mandolins sound so... romantic... ::she grins:: * Sabrina chuckles and nods "Perhaps I can learn something to play at your wedding." <Tarri> Maybe! <Tarri> And the mandolin will be easier to carry around with you when your gypsies come back... When *are* they coming back, anyway? * Sabrina giggles and nods "I got a letter from Robin the other day. He said they are wintered in a town a few days from here, and are planning on coming back in the summer. " <Tarri> Oh good! Oh! I almost forgot! Wait right there! ::She gets up and dashes from the room:: * Sabrina blinks and watches Tarri * Tarri comes back with a small parcel, wrapped in plain brown paper and tied with a yellow ribbon. She offers it to Sabrina as she sits back down again. "I forgot to give you your Midwinter gift before I left." * Sabrina grins and takes the gift "Oh thank you Tarri." she slowly opens it, very much looking like she is enjoying every moment. *Tarri* Inside the package is a carved wooden comb, decorated with at least a dozen ribbons in a multitude of colors. * Sabrina grins and holds the comb up, her fingers lightly running over the ribbons. "Oh Tarri. It's beautiful." <Tarri> ::grins:: I thought of you and your gypsies when I saw it. I'm glad you like it! * Sabrina nods as she tucks the comb in her hair "Raven will love it!" she reaches out and hugs Tarri close. <Tarri> ::returns the hug with a smile:: * Sabrina bounces up and goes to the kitchen. She returns holding a small box with a red bow on top. She hands it to Tarri. "Here is yours" <Tarri> ::looks surprised as she takes the box:: Oh, thank you! You didn't have to get me anything! ::she carefully unties the bow and peers into the box:: * Sabrina grins and sits back down "You didn't have to get me anything either" she laughs * Tarri fishes out a small silver ring and reads the engraved inscription - "Friend" - before trying it on, fitting it on her left pinky. "Oh, this is lovely!" She hugs Sabrina again. * Sabrina returns the hug. "I'm glad you like it." <Tarri> ::grins and bounces once:: Well, what shall we do this afternoon? I'm sure if you've been practicing all morning, you need a break! * Sabrina nods "I have some pictures the children drew for Rhys, to thank him for the wooden figurines he made. I need to take them over to the Hall. I was gonna do that, if you wanna come for a walk." <Sabrina> Maybe we can get lunch in at the market ::she grins:: <Tarri> Oh, that was sweet of him! ::she bounces up and retrieves her cloak:: And a walk and lunch sound nice... Maybe on the way back we can swing by the confectioner's, too. ::she grins:: * Sabrina gets her cloak as well, and grabs the rolled up pieces of paper from the table. "Mmmm let's" she grins and opens the door, stepping out into the afternoon. * Tarri follows Sabrina outside, pulling her cloak close against the breeze. * Sabrina wraps her arm around Tarri's and heads off towards the Hall. "It will be nice to have everyone back. It's been awful quiet around here." she smiles. <Tarri> ::nods:: It's nice to be back! San's parents were really great and all, but... I missed the business of the city. ::she smiles almost sheepishly:: * Sabrina nods "I bet San was super happy to see his parents though." <Tarri> ::nods:: And they were really excited to see him. You should have seen the looks on their faces! <Sabrina> ::nods:: I bet. I can't wait to meet them! ::she grins at Tarri:; Did they press you to set a date? <Tarri> Oh, yes! But we still haven't... I want to see how busy my schedule is at the Temple, first. <Tarri> ::grins:: But we *did* settle that San's dad is going to make my wedding dress. <Sabrina> ::nods:: I heard that last night ::grins:: Spring would be nice, if you can wait that long ::giggles:: <Ardem> ::a glowing silver portal opens near them, about human sized, oval in shape and humming slightly:: <Tarri> ::laughs:: It might even be longer than- ::she breaks off and looks in surprise at the portal:: What the...? * Sabrina blinks as the portal appears and grips Tarri's arm. <Ardem> ::a man falls through it and tumbles to the ground, then lays motionless.:: * Tarri hesitates a moment, then runs toward the man. "Sir?" She kneels by his head and touches his shoulder briefly. "Sir?" * Sabrina gasps and her face turns white. She stays back as Tarri goes forward. * Ardem is bloody and bruised, barely breathing and unconscious. * Tarri gently rolls the stranger onto his back, cataloguing his injuries with a healer's calm. She reaches for a pouch at her side that isn't there. "My kit, blast! Sabrina, would you-" She breaks off as she looks up at Sabrina's white face. "What's wrong?" * Sabrina doesn't move. Her eyes are locked on the man's face. She whispers "It's him" <Tarri> Him? Him, who? ::she frowns down at the man briefly, then looks back up at Sabrina:: * Sabrina blinks and shakes her head, then looks back. "The man who saved me, who sent me here." * Ardem is 5'5" 150lbs, platinum blonde hair, green eyes. <Tarri> ::blinks:: ....Oh... Oh! ::she looks back down at the man and puts a finger at his throat:: He needs some help, 'Brina... Can you run back and grab my kit? Or do you want to help me carry him? * Sabrina nod and steps forward, shaking her head again "I'll go get..." she turns and runs back to the apartment. A few minutes later she returns handing Tarri her kit. * Tarri rummages in her kit for some bandages, and begins cleaning off the man's injuries. * Sabrina stands back and watches Tarri with Ardem, still looking shocked. * Tarri glances up at Sabrina with a smile. "Don't faint on me... Do you know anything about him?" * Sabrina shakes her head "No nothing. I barely got a chance to see his face before he was pushing me through the portal." <Tarri> Hmm. I wonder why... <Sabrina> Why what? * Ardem stirs a bit, trying to get up, but falls back onto his back and looks around and smiles seeing the girl got through okay, then faints again. * Sabrina watches Ardem looking concerned and confused and surprised still. <Tarri> Why- ::she breaks off as he wakes up and looks around, then goes back to cleaning his wounds after he faints again:: Why he rescued you, if he didn't even know you. I mean... ::she flashes a quick smile at Sabrina:: It's not the kind of thing most people would do. It's like something out of a storybook! * Tarri bandages the worst of his injuries, then peers into her kit bag doubtfully. "I don't think I've got enough bandages in here for anything else..." She looks him over. "If I wake him up, do you think we can support him back to the apartment?" * Sabrina flushes and looks away "I'm not sure." she looks down at Tarri "I have asked myself that a million times since I got here." smiles a bit "But I am sure it is not anything so romantic as I am sure you are thinking" * Sabrina nods. "it's not that far back. I think we can" <Tarri> ::grins as she fishes in her bag:: Probably not. But I'm curious all the same. ::she pulls out a bottle of smelling salts and leans back as she pulls out the stopper and waves it gently by his nose:: * Ardem blinks and shakes his head, trying to get away from the smell. * Sabrina kneels down next to Ardem. <Tarri> ::in a soft, calm voice:: Wake up, sir... you're hurt. We need to move you somewhere safe. Wake up, please, sir... * Ardem looks to Tarri and nods, then looks to Sabrina "Are you okay lady? I held the raiders off as long as I could." * Sabrina looks confused and then nods. "Well yes, but that was months ago." * Ardem looks confused. "But I just left the battle." ::looks down at himself:: "Oh dear. this just won't do." * Sabrina shakes her head "but I have been here for......" she shakes her head again and closes her mouth. * Tarri stoppers the smelling salts again and puts them back in her kit bag, rocking back on her heels and watching silently. * Sabrina glances up at Tarri, looking like she is very not sure what to do * Ardem rocks in a circle a bit. "Whoa, I need to lay down. I'm getting lightheaded again." <Tarri> ::offers the man a hand to help him up:: Come, sir... Let's get you out of the street, at least... You can lean on us - our home isn't far. * Sabrina nods and reaches to help Ardem stand up. * Ardem nods and gets helped up smiling to the two. <Ardem> The raiders can't be far, we must get out of here, my teleport wasn't very strong, limited distance. * Sabrina glances over at Tarri as they help him, wondering if she should say anything about just how far he is from home. * Tarri slides one arm carefully around his waist, to help him balance. "Sir..." She pauses, looking at Sabrina, unsure how to explain. Finally, she settles for, "You're safe enough for now, sir; Marsember is well-policed." * Sabrina nods in agreement with Tarri. "And our house is just ahead" * Ardem nods. "I'm in no condition to argue." <Tarri> I should think not. ::she smiles warmly:: I'm Tarisa, a- an apprentice healer. And it seems you've already met Sabrina... * Sabrina nods and offers a wobbly smile to Ardem <Ardem> Sabrina? ::looks to Sabrina and looks at her deeply, then smiles:: You sure you're okay? Those raiders looked pretty rough. <Ardem> I'm Ardem. * Sabrina nods and flushes just a bit "I am fine, thanks to you." * Sabrina pushes open the door as they reach the apartment. * Ardem nods and smiles again, then goes limp a bit, but catches himself, so he doesn't take the ladies down with him. * Tarri leaves Sabrina to get Ardem settled comfortably, and goes back to her room to scrounge up some more bandages. * Sabrina helps Ardem to the sofa and settles him down. She grabs a pillow from the nearby chair and places it behind him. * Tarri comes back and eyes Ardem critically. "Well, it looks like most of the smaller cuts have stopped bleeding... Was there any danger, do you think, of poison?" * Ardem shakes his head. "No, they were only Lord Ryhdon's raiders. He won't let them use poisons." <Tarri> ::nods as if this makes sense:: Good. ::she kneels next to the couch and returns to cleaning and bandaging the remaining wounds.:: * Sabrina goes into the kitchen and returns with a glass of water, which she hands to Ardem. * Ardem takes the glass and smiles. "Thank you dear Lady, I thank you two for your help, I would heal myself, but I have used all my mana, and have to wait for awhile. <Tarri> ::blinks:: You can do that? Are you... a priest, as well as a mage? * Sabrina stays back and quiet. * Ardem shakes his head. "No, I've just learned things from a few different people." <Tarri> Oh. ::she grins:: Glossaria is going to love you. ::she rummages in her bag again, and comes up with a small packet of dried herbs, which she hands to Sabrina:: 'Brina, be a dear and make some tea with this for Master Ardem, please? Two spoonfuls, I think. ::she glances at Ardem with a smile:: It will help with the pain. * Sabrina nods and disappears into the kitchen. <Ardem> I'm alright for now. I think the portal numbed me a bit. I will need it in awhile tho. <Tarri> ::nods:: It will take the tea a while to steep, anyway. And it will help stave off wound-fever. * Ardem nods and begins to relax a little, but still apparently nervous about the raiders. <Tarri> ::she looks uncertain:: I... You should know, you've gone a bit... further than you think you have. Sabrina came here months and months ago - almost a year, I think. And she'd never heard of any of the cities or countries here. * Sabrina returns a few minutes later with a steaming cup of tea. * Ardem looks confused. really confused * Sabrina places the tea on the table near the sofa and nods as she hears Tarri. She looks over at Ardem "It's not the same world as the one that you were in on the other side of the portal." <Tarri> ::bites her lip and looks up at Sabrina before looking back at Ardem:: * Sabrina exchanges concerned glances with Tarri and then looks back to Ardem. <Ardem> Where are we? <Ardem> Year ago? <Ardem> I just pushed you through the portal? <Sabrina> Something must have happened to the time, between then and now. I have lived here for almost a year now. ::she glances at Tarri:: <Tarri> ::nods and takes a deep breath:: We're in the city of Marsember, in the country of Cormyr... ::she makes a face, but continues:: ...on the world Toril. Today is the eighth of Hammer, in the year 1402. * Sabrina smiles, in spite of the situation, at Tarri "You sound like Glossaria" <Tarri> ::grins briefly at Sabrina:: Well... It seemed appropriate. * Sabrina nods and looks back to Ardem. * Ardem looks down unable to grasp the situation. * Sabrina frowns. "Well I guess the best thing to do for now is to let you rest here. Perhaps after you regain some of your strength we can try and piece together what happened." <Tarri> ::sighs and gently pats Ardem's shoulder:: Drink the tea. Don't worry about it just now... Plenty of time to think about it after you've healed up. <Ardem> Lord Rhydon must've had a hand in this. But how could he have known? Azire? No, you were my best friend. <Tarri> ::blinks at the apparent nonsense:: Master Ardem, please, don't worry over it too much just now. I thought you should know, but... We have some very... powerful friends. If you want to get back, we'll find a way. * Sabrina nods in agreement with Tarri. "Perhaps it would be best if you try and get some rest. You will be safe here" * Ardem half nods, already dozing from his injuries. * Sabrina goes into her room and returns with a blanket which she lays over Ardem. * Tarri finishes with the last of the bandaging. "I'll make up some more of that tea, Master Ardem. If you wake up later with pain, it will be just on the counter in the kitchen." She points toward the kitchen. <Ardem> Thank you ::replies drowsily:: * Sabrina goes and picks up the papers that she dropped near the door. "I guess I'll give these to Rhys later," she mumbles, and places them back on the table. <Tarri> ::nods silently at Sabrina's comment, staring at the drowsing Ardem - shocked, now that she has time for it.:: * Sabrina goes to stand next to Tarri and looks down at Ardem. * Ardem is already fast asleep, oblivious of the two. |
