They find the place where the monster was seen, a warehouse riddled with traps. Dawn gets a nice dousing with an acid trap, Bienca takes a dip in the River Lethe, and Mace gets shrunk to seven inches, a not very impressive height. Eventually they get to the end of the traps, discovering a dead gnome and his pet monster. The gnome left a suicide note, explaining that he'd felt himself possessed by demons and killed himself before the possession could be completed. Lacking other options (after all, who else would you bring a monster equipped with gnomish armor too) they take the creature to Zoya, who is also kind enough to unshrink Mace.

Tomas comes and takes Polla with his dreamwalker abilities. Raven, seeing the girl head into the woods, calls out the adventurers and they pursue. Tomas has backup this time, a priestess of Bane and four minotaurs. The battle is joined. After much pain and spluttings of minotaurs - and one very nasty curse on the part of the priestess - most of the enemies are slain. Tomas, not exactly a heroic fellow, you know, takes Polla and 'ports out.

The kittens come to Catreenia for help, to find their mother. Daring Bastian's wrath for not staying where she is supposed to be, Catreenia tracks down Lhynnae. Lhynnae is dying, having slain the rat-queen and closed the way to the Abyss (temporarily at least) for the demons who are already on this plane. Catreenia warns Mace, psionically, and he disappears when the demons attack at Ellesmere (this session runs in tandem with the Battle at Ellesmere). Lhynnae dies and her children come to claim her body.

Nacheyla goes into labor. Lisl gathers the troops. Xarroch shocks the whole world and actually SHOWS UP for the birth (yay!!) [Excerpt from the Book of Nacheyla: The Birth of Cheylon. "And lo, the one-liners were many, and flung about until they fell like rain upon the sea."] There's a small betting pool as to how long the labor will last. As day stretches into evening, Mace gets contacted psionically by Catreenia (see On the Stygian Shore). Just at that moment, the demons show up. Mace is only not immediately eviscerated because he was angry with Catreenia and already had his dagger in hand. The demons pop out of the lawn like daisies and attack. There is much mayhem. Demons are like that. There is more mayhem. Patrons are like that. Zoya misses with a spell and accidentally breaks Michelle up into component pieces. No, that's not actually as bad as it sounds - instead of the gestalt in one body, they split into seven. Eventually all the demons get pulped and Nacheyla's son is born. Mace heads back to the school to yell at Catreenia and Bienca, Dawn and Dusk return with the news of Lhynnae's death. A bittersweet ending.

Loria wakes up, feeling Nacheyla's labor pain. She feels something is wrong and hurries her small group on to Khymrych. Raven fills them in on the adventures of the previous evening, including Kristo's curse. No fun. Curses are bad. Finn and Raven are going to be accompanying the group. Gloss gets to peek in the Book of the Black Hand and finds out about Bane's back up plan (Always have a back up plan, especially if you're an evil god). Loria gets a promotion to High Priestess for the adventuring clergy. Not that that really means much, since there's only two of them.

The small group is almost back to Marsember. They set camp for the night. Vallel talks with Tarri and finds out that she knows what her fate is from Bane's forces. Tomas calls Gloss to him with his dreamwalker abilities. This time he has hell hounds with him (oh, what fun, fire-breathing dogs. groovy). The group deals with the dogs while Tomas expounds on General Villain Speech 43.a "Why I am destined for Greatness." Vallel overtaxes his psionic strength to pull Gloss away from Tomas at the last second, falling nearly dead to the ground as Tomas teleports to safety. Loria has a plague of martyrs to deal with, but heals everyone anyway.

While Loria is doing that, Temire goes to talk with Ilarion. She tells him what they're doing and Ilarion feels obligated to make the usual be-careful speeches.

Sabrina starts her trip. She runs into her friends the gypsies. She accompanies the gypsies on their trip, getting to know the handsome singer, Raven. She meets the whole flock of gypsies and they sing and perform together. They continue on their way. Sabrina buys a new dress and she and Emily talk about matchmaking and men and who likes who. They go to a dance and Sabrina watches as Raven courts Wren. Sabrina and Raven share a dance or two. After a while, Sabrina realizes that it's Fosst she's been missing and wanting. She leaves the gypsies to head home to Marsember. Sabrina immediately goes to see Fosst, who has been working much too hard. They admit their feelings for each other (ack! More CUTE! gah!) and make out for a while on their picnic blanket.

Michelle and Tyl discuss the possibility of Michelle working in the kitchens at the school, since Michelle's currently a little broke. Sabrina and Lisl chat a little about Sabrina's trip. Zoya and Tyl discuss a new technique Tyl's learned. Lisl admits to Lini that she was wrong about the whole situation with Jaret and Bai. Lini, with all the grace and charm that we've all come to expect from the drow, says "Yes, you were." (I wonder if that means Lisl's forgiven?)

Loria is still "seasick" after getting to land and Kevil finally asks her about it. She admits that she is pregnant and instead of being upset or worried, Kevil is, instead, rather enraptured. (Ai! Cuteness galore! Sweet, but still...) After a while, the rest of the camp wakes. Vallel contacts Tarri, who tells him that Polla is with her. Loria and Kevil share her news with them as well. Everyone is congratulatory, except Vallel, who's rather in a state of shock, and Mira, who is more pessimistic than is healthy for any twelve normal people. Kevil is not phased by this whatsoever, being way too thrilled for an entire city's worth of pessimists.

They finally arrive at Mount Tesh and find the Temple of Bane. They decide to take the "back door" and run into several giant crayfish living in the temple's water supply. Glossaria, who can't cast a spell without surging, grows pretty tall and gouges her arm on the ceiling. They finally make it into the temple to get attacked by a few priests and soldiers and a mob of angry worshippers. Kevil gets blinded, Finn gets silenced (if this wasn't a combat situation, I'm sure we'd all be happy about that!). Loria gets pretty badly hurt when she freezes up after killing a person (very messy.) Just as they're starting to recover from that fight, a high priestess and an anti-paladin show up and really make a mess of the party. Finally (whew!) they run out of enemies, heal up, loot the temple, rescue the prisoners, and are disappointed that this is *not* the temple where Tarri is being held. Loria takes everyone outside, then has Kevil collapse the temple so it can never be used again.

Tomas used his dream abilities to "seduce" Tarri and is bringing her back to the prison. Polla, hearing them, decides to ambush Tomas. She hits him with a plate, and he stabs her in the stomach. Tarri keeps her alive as best she can. Vallel, making contact with Tarri a day or so afterwards, is horrified by what he finds in Tarri's mind. The camp does not react well to Vallel's news. Finn attempts to teleport in to bring Polla out for healing and is given another rude surprise. He can't teleport in. They agree to rest for a few hours, then push on.

The small band arrive at the Temple of Bane. Before entering, they are attacked by a small hive of wasps. Glossaria does not like wasps much and has a full blown panic-fear reaction. They defeat the wasps and head into the Temple. Vallel and Finn split off from the party in order to find and heal Polla and Tarri. The rest of the group fights with Tomas and a small group of priests and Banites. The High Priest casts a Babble spell on Loria, but Kevil reverses it. Tomas casts an imprisoning spell on Kevil, trapping him inside a magic bubble. Edmund, a paladin of Bane, beats the living crap out of Loria for a while, before Raven finally kills him with the magical arrow they recovered from the other temple. Vallel and Finn find and heal the girls. Tomas knocks Raven out before taking on Loria, who is badly wounded from her fight with Edmund. Kevil, trapped in the bubble, begins singing a hymn to Nacheyla, bolstering Loria's strength so she can stand to face Tomas. Tomas, realizing that Loria is pregnant, attempts to infuse her child with Bane's spirit, kissing her. Temire, in the ether, cuts the cord that connects Bane to His Sword, and thus, to Tomas. Bane flees, unable to infect the child. Tomas apologizes to Loria, then stabs her when her guard is down. (Bad Guys do that so often - you'd think Good Guys would learn, but nooooooooo, they never do!) She does him a turn better and stabs him in the chest with a dagger she had in her belt, killing him. Vallel calls Zoya in to free Kevil from the magical trap and to bring them home. Nacheyla shows up to heal the people who are hurt, and to beg forgiveness. Half the group - Tarri, Polla, Raven and Finn - head off to Khymrych. The other half return to Marsember. Zoya makes plans to return to the temple and make sure to add it to the list of ruined evil temples (damn, there goes another evil temple. ::sighs::)

Lord and Lady Hooke are spending time at the manor estate, fox hunting. Bastian falls off his horse and breaks his neck, dying instantly (as planned in Last Will & Testament). Catreenia is hysterical with grief and Dawn, Dusk and Bienca show up to comfort her. She is rather inconsolable. Nacheyla is brought in to attempt a resurrection but "fails" because Bastian's soul is elsewhere.

Loria and Kevil cannot wait any longer to go to Alanis. Grieved by the death of Lord Hooke, they go to Zoya, who gives them the gift she had for their wedding - a portal to the Ven. They head to Alanis and run into their friend Missa. Missa fills them in on the latest gossip, including the death of the Heir to the Sultan, Mahir and his circle, who were supposedly murdered by his sister, Samiha. She was executed. Their father, the old Sultan, died of grief, and Rida-Siraj is Sultan now. Kevil and Loria tell Missa of their intention to join circle.

The assorted collection of rogues are helping Jewel attend to some business matters of Lord Hooke's. An assassin shows up with the intention of collecting a reward on Dusk's head. Just after they kill the assassin, Whistle - the boys' old mentor - shows up to yell at everyone for a while. He informs Dusk that he's wanted for killing off members of the Suzail guild. Dusk says he didn't do it.
