* Michelle unlocks the door and announces, "Hall's Open!" * Michelle returns behind the bar. She is wearing a simple white blouse and grey skirt, her hair hanging free for once. * Jelarthna steps jauntily inside, smiling widely as he hangs his hat and cloak by the door. * Vallel walks in, wearing brown trousers and a slightly dusty white shirt, with knee high black boots. <Jelarthna> Good evening, Michelle! Wonderful to see you! * Michelle blinks at Jel, "Honeymoon over already? We've got some rooms upstairs if you'd rather not sleep on the couch." <Jelarthna> ::laughs:: Thanks, but I'm not in trouble. Tyl.. ::sighs happily for a moment:: is over at the school catching up on things. <Jelarthna> Good evening, Vallel! * Kevil enters, wearing black pants, a brilliant yellow shirt, and a red vest. He smiles at everyone as he enters. "Good evening, my friends!" * Vallel smiles. "Hullo, Jelarthna." <Michelle> Ah. Then I'll have to send Temire over tomorrow. <Michelle> So what can I get people to drink? <Jelarthna> Temire? Is she going to see about being tested? <Jelarthna> ::smiles at Kevil:: Good evening, Kevil, nice to see you again! * Meghan walks in. She is wearing a dark green dress her hair tied back with a burgundy tie. The circlet is on her head and she is wearing a silver necklace with a M monogram. <Kevil> ::beams at Jel:: Sir Jelarthna, you have returned! I trust your trip was enjoyable, yes? <Jelarthna> Hello, Meghan! * Vallel moves over to the bar. "Can I get a glass of iced cider?" <Jelarthna> Yes, very enjoyable! The Moonshaes are very lovely indeed! * Tarri enters and looks around shyly. She spots Vallel and makes her way over to him. "Hi. Gloss is coming soon." * Meghan grins at Jel "Welcome back Jel. You had a good honeymoon I hope" <Michelle> Yes. I don't suspect she has any psionics, but she's adamant that she wants to attend the school if only to learn the theory behind psionics. Between her condition, Yohko and I's training, and the things she learned from Aldis she's come up with a theory that she wants to test, but she thinks she needs to know about psionics before she can test it. I won't be surprised if she tries to join a priesthood next. * Kevil bows to Meghan. "Lady Meghan, radiant as always." * Michelle smiles at Meghan, "How are you doing this evening love?" <Jelarthna> Very wonderful, Meghan! * Meghan smiles at Kevil "Good to see you to Lord Kevil" She winks at him * Glossaria enters, frowning at her hands and scraping gold from under her fingernails. <Kevil> ::laughs and holds up a hand:: Bard will do. * Michelle grabs a mug and puts ice in it before filling it from one of the taps and setting it before Vallel. <Jelarthna> ::chuckles:: Interesting... Temire's a bright girl though, and I can certainly understand being curious about a number of things. Good for her. * Jaret walks in, dressed in dark blue pants and jacket over a ruffled white shirt. He hangs a shockingly plain grey cloak on a peg by the door and takes off his plumed hat, careful not to scatter water on anyone. He bows deeply to the room. "Ladies and gentlemen! An honor to see you all again!" * Meghan slips onto a seat at the bar nodding to Jel "Good to hear my friend" * Vallel drains the cider in two long swallows. <Jelarthna> Hello, Glossaria. ::smiles at Gloss:: Young Lady. ::smiles at Tarri:: <Jelarthna> Jaret! Always a pleasure and honor to see you as well! <Vallel> Ah! Gloss ::he reaches into his pocket and pulls out a rumpled, damp piece of parchment:: * Michelle looks at Jaret, "Travelling incognito Jaret, or just not want to ruin your good cloaks?" * Tarri returns Jel's smile shyly. <Glossaria> Jel! good to see you back! How was your honeymoon? ::crossing the floor to take a seat by Vallel, offering him a peck on the cheek:: <Jelarthna> Phenomenal, Glossaria. I only wish we could have stayed longer, but both of us had things we wanted to get back to. ::chuckles:: * Lisl enters, going to stand by the fireplace and bending forward to shake her head like a dog, spraying water from her hair to hiss in the flames. <Jaret> ::shakes his head at Michelle's question:: The rain caught me by surprise while I was visiting... a friend. He kindly loaned me this so I would not be completely drowned. Could I get a snifter of Sembian, please? I find myself still slightly chilled. * Meghan sits at the bar watching Michelle <Vallel> Good evening, dear... ::hands her the parchment:: I got you a present... of course, now I'm broke again... guess I'll need to do some moonlighting. <Jelarthna> ::bows to Tarri:: Jelarthna Quel'Shu, recently married to the lovely Tyl'gainia at your service. * Kevil bows (not flamboyantly) to Lisl. "Huntress, I am glad to see you." * Michelle pulls a snifter from beneath the bar and fills it from a small cask before setting it before Jaret. <Jelarthna> Hello, Lisl! good to see you! <Tarri> ::curtseys:: T-Tarisa Mandeil. I'm glad to meet you, Lord Quel'Shu. I... I work for your lady's sister and her husband. <Lisl> :;straightening and wiping her face:: Ahhh, it's wet out there! Good evening, Master Kevil. ::wiping rain from her face:: Jel! You're back! How was the trip? Did you ever see the outside of the inn? ::grinning:: <Jelarthna> ::smiling at Tarri:: A pleasure to meet you, Tarisa. You work for Cwalli and Bluestar? That's wonderful! If there's every anything you need and don't want to bother them with, don't hesitate to ask. <Glossaria> A gift? For me? ::smiles and accepts the parchment, looking at it:: A... writ of ownership? ::looks puzzled:: * Kevil steps up to the bar with a solemn face. "Lady Michelle - I have a great longing that I can no longer hide. I beg, I plead! I will go down upon bended knee! Please, Lady: For a mug of the house specialty." He grins at her. * Vallel nods, sucking on a piece of ice. <Jelarthna> ::grins at Lisl:: Yes, we're back. And we *did* look around at least a little. The Moonshaes are really quite lovely. <Tarri> ::blushes and curtseys again:: Thank you, Lord. * Meghan chuckles at Kevil <Vallel> She's out in the stable if you want to take a peek at her. * Jaret sips his brandy and smiles appreciatively at Kevil's flamboyance. <Jelarthna> ::waves dismissively and smiles:: Call me Jelarthna, Tarisa. <Lisl> Well, I'm glad you had a good time, Jel. ::shakes her head at Kevil's antics:: 'Chelle, a mug of 'kick, please? * Meghan glances at Jaret and smiles to him * Jelarthna grins at Kevil * Michelle smiles and shakes her head at Kevil, "With a build up that long I'd have been shocked if you hadn't asked for something pedestrian." <Jelarthna> That sounds good... another for me please, Michelle? * Michelle fills a mug for Kevil and sets it on the bar in front of him. <Glossaria> Thank you, Val. ::giving him a hug:: But... why a... horse? * Michelle fills a stone mug and sets it carefully on the bar for Lisl. <Tarri> ::shyly:: Yes, lor- Jelarthna. ::she flushes and looks around for Vallel and Glossaria:: * Jaret walks to Meghan's side. "Lady, I'm sorry I have so far been unable to meet your request for a lunch or dinner to catch up. I hope that I find some free time under a stone, or squirreled away in a drawer that I can spend with you soon." * Michelle fills a mug and hands it to Jel. <Kevil> ::grins at Michelle:: Alas, Lady, you know me too well. ::he takes a long drink of meade:: * Meghan nods to him <Vallel> ::grins:: Because I didn't think you wanted to walk for two weeks, lovie... <Meghan> I would like that Jaret <Jelarthna> Ahh, thank you, Michelle! ::smiles kindly at Tarri:: It's okay, I'm really not a lord or anything. Just listen to Lisl or my wife talk about me a bit. Nothing to be nervous about. <Lisl> Thanks, Michelle. Ach, it's chilly out there for spring. ::grinning:: El is bundled up in front of the biggest indoor bonfire I've ever seen, at home. I'm just glad Mother fire-proofed the place. <Tarri> ::giggles a little at Jel's comment:: Oh, but wives are *allowed*. <Glossaria> Walk... ::blinks for a moment, thinking:: Two weeks on foot... is about two to two and a half leagues... Khymrych? You're taking me to see your family? ::hugging Vallel excitedly:: <Jelarthna> ::laughs:: Too true.. but I've certainly earned the stories. ::winks:: Jaret's seen a lot too, but is too much of a gentleman to tell you how much trouble I've gotten into. <Kevil> ::grins at Lisl:: And you abandoned her? For the comfort of an inn? Perhaps I should go and offer to keep her company. ::his eyes are twinkling with mischief:: <Jelarthna> ::laughs at Lisl's comment about Elgara'a:: Poor woman! I could go 'port her here where it's warmer. ::smiles:: * Vallel smiles. "I got a letter from my mother, asking us to come, and as it's strawberry picking next week, I thought you might like that." <Tarri> ::turns her head:: Khymrych? ::she walks over to join Val and Gloss:: Are you going back? <Vallel> ::nods:: Just for the strawberry picking... we'll be back very soon. <Jaret> If Elgara'a is anything like I remember her, Jelarthna, that might only make her more uncomfortable. ::laughs:: <Lisl> ::raises an eyebrow:: If you like getting your eyebrows scorched, be my guest. ::looking at Jel:: And believe me. There are *smithies* colder than my common room is right now. I came to escape the heat. <Jelarthna> Oh? Why's that? * Meghan smiles glancing at Michelle <Tarri> Oh, that should be nice. ::she smiles at Gloss:: You'll have fun! * Jelarthna laughs <Lisl> She distrusts magic, Jel. A lot. * Lisl takes a swallow of 'kick. <Tarri> ::to Val, a little hesitantly:: I... I hate to ask, but would you stop and see my Papa? Just to let him know I'm doing well? <Jaret> If I remember correctly, Elgara'a is somewhat... yes. Exactly as Lisl stated it. <Lisl> ::grins at Jaret:: <Jelarthna> Oh! Oh my, I didn't know that... ::chuckles:: Thanks for the note, I'll try to remember that. <Vallel> I can... if you're sure he's not going to pound my head in. ::grins a bit to show he's kidding... mostly:: <Kevil> ::chuckles:: How much of a fire can she have laid, indoors? <Glossaria> We'd be happy to, Tarri. He lives nearby, doesn't he? * Meghan leans against the bar resting her chin on her hand <Jelarthna> ::glances over at Tarri:: Are you from Vallel's village, Tarisa? Small world! ::smiles and takes a deep drink:: <Tarri> ::smiles:: I'm sure he'll behave, Val. ::to Gloss:: In town, rather than on a farm, but yes. <Lisl> ::dryly:: You'd be surprised. I have a *very* big fireplace. It's wide enough for a whole roast deer. <Jelarthna> So, how have you all been the past couple of weeks? Did you all enjoy the wedding? Was anyone else nervous? ::grins:: * Vallel grins, shrugging. "It's a small town, Gloss... you can run from one end to the other without getting winded." <Tarri> ::to Jel:: Yes, sir. <Jaret> It was a wonderful wedding, Jelarthna. And I think you were nervous by proxy for everyone in the country of Cormyr. <Lisl> It was great, when I wasn't getting thwapped by flowers. ::mock-glares at Jel:: Remind me to thank your wife for that. <Jelarthna> ::chuckles:: You don't have to call me sir, really. * Michelle smiles at Meghan, "Can I get you anything love?" <Kevil> ::laughs:: And she's fired it up the flue, eh? ::grins:: * Tyl comes in, absolutely drenched. <Tyl> It's a bit wet out there. * Meghan nods "Water would be nice"she smiles softly <Jelarthna> ::grins:: I had nothing to do with that, Lisl, I assure you. And I think I really was, Jaret... though it's all worth it. <Tyl> What was worth it, dear? <Jelarthna> TYL! ::practically jumps across the room to join her:: * Michelle fills a mug and sets it before Meghan. <Tarri> ::covers her mouth and giggles quietly at Jel's show of devotion:: <Meghan> thanks * Meghan sips her water <Jelarthna> ::pulls a towel out of his belt-pouch and puts it around Tyl's shoulders:: Marrying you, love. ::kisses her on the cheek:: <Lisl> ::nods:: And since I usually sleep downstairs, I decided to escape here to cool off a little before heading home to bed. * Jaret makes sure Jelarthna's mug doesn't topple off the counter. * Vallel looks at Gloss. "You do like strawberries, don't you?" * Michelle looks at Tyl, "Can I get you anything Tyl'gainia. Warm cider, maybe a towel?" * Tyl briskly towels off her hair. "Rum and ice is fine, Michelle. It's not cold out, just wet." * Lisl has another swallow of 'kick. * Jelarthna escorts Tyl to the counter * Michelle puts some ice in a glass, the pours a few fingers of rum into the glass and sets it on the bar for Tyl. <Glossaria> I could dry you off, if you like, Tyl. Although...::looks doubtful:: You may wind up somewhat...poofy. <Jelarthna> So did the school hold together in your absence? <Kevil> ::smiles at Meghan and Michelle:: And how is the new house working out? You are all settling in, yes? * Meghan nods to Kevil "It's a wonderful house" <Jelarthna> New house? * Michelle smiles at Kevil, "Slowly, though I think we might have gotten the house for as little as we did because something else is already inhabiting it." * Meghan nods "we moved into a new house a few weeks ago Jel" <Jelarthna> Oh! ::looks a bit embarrassed:: I'm sorry, I've been so busy and distracted, I didn't even realize. <Tyl> ::frowns:: The school is fine... perfect even. I highly suspect my brother-in-law of some chicanery. <Jelarthna> ::laughs:: Bluestar? <Meghan> It's ok ::she grins at him:: we understand <Lisl> You haven't been able to shoo out the gnomes yet? Maybe Gloss can help, she lives with some. * Jelarthna grins back <Kevil> ::raises an eyebrow:: Some...*thing* else? * Sanriel walks in slowly, dressed in his normal clothes and wearing a big smile, tilting his head back for a moment just before stepping in and sighing happily <Tyl> Who else would dump over five thousand in gold into the coffers? ::thumps her fist on the table:: I *asked* him not to do that. <Jelarthna> Asked him not to make donations? * Tarri brightens and waves as San enters. "Sanriel!" * Michelle shrugs, "I haven't seen it yet. It's not a ghost or anything like that and so far it seems to be fairly harmless, if somewhat annoying." <Glossaria> Laundry money? ::frowns:: No, wait, that's not the correct term... money laundering? * Tyl nods. "Not that we don't need the money, but..." ::sighs:: <Sanriel> Ahhh... that feels good! ::beams:: Hi, Tarri!! ::waves excitedly, unaware of the water flying from his arm:: <Lisl> ::shakes her head:: Okay, so the boy is part duck. * Lisl sips her 'kick. * Meghan finished off her water and slips from her stool * Jaret has some more brandy. <Jelarthna> ::puts an arm around Tyl:: I know, love... well, we can perhaps see about doing something constructive with it, like it were actually a donation. Maybe other donations to charities in the school's name or something of the sort? * Michelle nods to Meghan. * Kevil looks concerned. "What does this thing do?" <Sanriel> wow... lots of people here... ::looks around for a minute as he absently sheets the majority of the water from himself:: * Meghan slips quietly from the Hall into the night <Jelarthna> A ghost, Michelle? Maybe you should talk to Nacheyla about it? <Tarri> Sanriel, you're absolutely *soaked*! What have you been doing? <Michelle> So far it's restrained itself to moving things around when no one's looking. I've had to reorganize the kitchen three times. I'm starting to think about adopting Nacheyla's suggestion and just dumping everything into the sink. <Glossaria> ::hesitantly, as if afraid to point out the obvious:: Well... it's raining, Tarri. I would postulate that he's been outside. <Michelle> I said it wasn't a ghost Jelarthna. <Sanriel> oh! ::blushes a little and looks sheepish:: Just enjoying the weather, really. I've always liked the rain, but it's usually colder where I'm from. This is a new experience for me. ::grins:: <Kevil> ::grins:: You are certain it is not your other housemates, Lady? <Jelarthna> oh! Sorry, I misheard. ::smiles and looks around:: Big crowd tonight. <Michelle> Yes I'm certain. * Tarri gets up and pulls Sanriel by the wrist closer to the fire. "How long have you been wandering around in the rain?" <Jelarthna> Perhaps there's a mischievous something at work, there? We could look around if it's all that annoying... ::chuckles a little:: <Michelle> I'm sure we'll figure it out eventually. <Lisl> ::shakes her head:: I took a look. I didn't... ::pauses a moment to pick the right word:: I didn't find anything. <Kevil> ::smiles at Lisl:: You have experience with boggarts and house fairies, Huntress? <Sanriel> ::lets Tarri guide him to the fire:: Ummm... I'm not sure. A couple of hours, at least. mmm... though this feels good, too... ::sighs as the heat begins to soak through:: <Lisl> Well, not a lot. But, well, hunting indoors and hunting outdoors aren't that different, the tracks are just harder to follow. <Kevil> ::looks a little dubious:: As you say, Huntress. I am not much of a tracker. <Lisl> ::shakes her head:: They don't generally stick around very long when I move in. <Jelarthna> hmmm, you didn't find anything, Lisl? It might be magic, then... ::shrugs:: But you'll be better at finding something like that than I probably would, Michelle. * Jelarthna laughs <Sanriel> ::chuckles and speaks quietly to Tarri:: Yeah, Lady Ferinsdottir is pretty scary. ::winks:: * Tyl combs her fingers through her hair, making a terrible mess of it. "So, did I miss anything exciting while we were gone?" <Glossaria> ::returns from the necessary and takes her seat again:: I'm sorry, love... did you ask me something a moment ago? * Tarri grins at Sanriel. "*I* wouldn't stay!" * Jaret coughs while having a sip of brandy, but manages to swallow it. * Vallel nods, laughing. * Sanriel coughs and laughs a little, grinning <Lisl> ::grins at San and Tarri:: Hey, I heard that! <Vallel> Yes, Gloss, I was wondering if you like strawberries... <Sanriel> oops! ::smiles at Lisl:: <Glossaria> Strawberries? ::cocks her head:: I don't believe I've ever had them. I like blueberries, though. <Tarri> ::covers her mouth and blushes, ducking behind San a little:: Oops... <Lisl> ::shakes her head and sighs a little too forcefully for reality:: The arrogance of youth. I swear. <Jelarthna> I asked the same question, dear... apparently very little. ::grins:: You must be the life of the party. <Tyl> You heard it, but do you deny it, Lisl? * Sanriel giggles and mouths "it's okay" to Tarri * Tarri smiles tentatively and whispers even more quietly to him, "Well, she *is* a little scary..." <Jelarthna> Lisl tends to hear *everything*. she can be pretty annoying that way. ::grins over at her:: <Lisl> ::grins at Tyl:: Hey, I'm not the one to ask. But I've had roommates before. Just ask El how scary I am. Or Lini! <Vallel> Ah, well, then this should be interesting... you'll probably be sick of them by the time the harvest is over, but we don't have to stay for all the canning, if you don't want to. <Jelarthna> ::snorts:: As a roommate, I might believe it. ::grins again:: <Lisl> ::takes another sip of kick, speaking over the rim of her mug:: I heard that too, San. <Glossaria> ::shakes her head:: No, I'd love to see it! I've never been to a harvest festival before. <Jelarthna> You were *supposed* to hear it. * Tyl shrugs. "Scary's not the word I'd use for you, Lisl... I can think of several others, but there are minors and students present." <Sanriel> ::laughs and pats Tarri's hand reassuringly, shaking his head slightly:: Would you like anything, Tarri? * Jelarthna snickers <Michelle> Tyl'gainia, would tomorrow be a good time for me to send Temire by to speak with you about entering the school? * Lisl puts down her mug and pulls a dignified face, and spoils it utterly by sticking her tongue out at Tyl. * Tyl blinks. "Temire's a psionic?" <Tarri> ::flushes a little:: Oh, no, I... Well... Maybe a little hot cider? <Jelarthna> What do you think, Jaret? You've known Lisl longer than I have... * Vallel coughs, nervously. "Have you ever done a maypole?" <Sanriel> ::beams:: Sure! I'll be right back. ::walks up to the bar, only dripping a little:: Lady Michelle? Could I have two hot ciders, please? <Kevil> ::glances over at Val and Gloss and giggles:: <Jaret> Lisl? It is a rare person I can say this about, but it Lisl's case, it is utterly true: Words do not suffice. * Michelle shrugs, "I can't tell, but I doubt it. But she's pieced together about the same theory that I came up with at one point and wants to test it, which means learning psionics, though she understands that she may very well have to settle for learning psionic theory." * Lisl laughs. "Thank you, Jaret." She offers him a small bow. * Jelarthna laughs * Michelle fills a mug with a steaming liquid and sets it on the bar for Tarri, "There you go." <Tyl> All right... ::shrugs:: If she hasn't got the talent, theory is all I'm going to be able to teach her. Send her by... ::thinks:: Around noon. I think I'll be back from screaming at Bluestar by then. * Michelle fills another mug for Sanriel. <Jelarthna> ::grins:: How loud, love? Should I go out practicing? <Glossaria> ::frowning thoughtfully:: I've read of villagers *dancing* around a maypole. It's a popular fertility ritual. Is there something else one is supposed to do with it? <Sanriel> Thank you! ::gathers the warm mugs and carries them back to Tarri, offering her the one with slightly more in it with a smile:: Here you go. * Tarri - half-listening to Val and Gloss - blushes slightly at Gloss's definition of a maypole. <Jelarthna> ::chuckles:: <Tarri> ::takes the mug from Sanriel gratefully:: Thank you. <Tyl> ::shrugs:: Oh, probably about half-possible volume. He doesn't always listen when I talk in a normal tone. Of course, I sincerely doubt he's going to listen to me at all, but maybe I can at least get some stress out. <Sanriel> ::blushes slightly:: You're welcome. ::takes a sip of his own and sighs happily:: <Glossaria> ::continuing:: I only ask, because "doing" is often used in slang as a euphemism for intercourse. And... ::frowns a little more and shakes her head:: I think that would be a physical impossibility for someone my size. <Jelarthna> Sounds about right... you should just come practice with me, then. Seems to serve more purpose, anyway. ::grins:: * Kevil raises an eyebrow at Tyl. "Stress? Lady, what could you possibly feel distressed over? Are you not still relaxed into connubial bliss?" He grins slightly into his meade. * Michelle shakes her head. * Sanriel gasps and sputters a little * Vallel blushes. "It's just a dance, with some ribbon weaving..." <Tarri> ::opens her eyes wide:: Glossaria! <Glossaria> ::cocks her head at Tarri:: Yes? <Jelarthna> ::laughs:: Ahh, she was worried something like this would happen. I think we've had enough bliss to start taking a little stress on again anyway. * Sanriel coughs a few times, setting down the mug of cider and thumping his chest a few times * Tyl makes a flustered little gesture with her arms. "Bluestar, much as I adore my brother-in-law and former mentor, has... well... no respect for proprieties, and he doesn't see any problem with dumping some extra cash into my school's coffers." * Tarri is blushing furiously and obviously trying very hard to send a telepathic signal to Gloss. It isn't working. Eventually, she attempts to cover her blushes by drinking from her mug of cider. * Glossaria blinks at Tarri and looks confused. "What?" <Kevil> ::grins at Jel:: A wise man. * Lisl smiles and sips her 'kick. <Jelarthna> ::smiles at Tyl:: I would have done the same if you'd have let me. <Jelarthna> ::grins:: Me? there's something I don't here often, but thanks! <Lisl> ::undertoning:: Yes, but Kevil doesn't know you well... <Tarri> Glossaria, you... ::She glances at San and blushes even harder. She walks over to Gloss and pulls her to the far side of the room, speaking in whispered tones:: Gloss, you can't just *say* things like that! * Sanriel gets his breathing under control and blushes a little * Vallel laughs, still blushing a little. "Tarri, I *told* you she was like that." * Kevil sweeps an elaborate bow in Jel's direction. <Glossaria> ::looking surprised as Tarri pulls her aside, and responding in a normal tone:: Like what? <Jelarthna> ::grins at Lisl:: No, that's true. ::bows as elaborately back, grinning:: <Lisl> ::shakes her head, grinning:: Fops, the lot of you. <Michelle> Glossaria, most women learn a certain amount of modesty as they grow up. It usually means that they don't talk openly about sex. You've been lucky since most people on the Hall are fairly worldly, but your manner of speech can be rather shocking for someone who's not used to it. <Tarri> ::looks at Val with distress:: You didn't say she was like this in *public*, Val! If you're going to take her to Khymrych... ::she glares at Val:: You just can't *do* that to her! <Sanriel> ::laughs a little and waves at Glossaria:: It's okay, it's okay... I should know by now. <Tarri> ::blushes at Michelle's blunt speech, but nods:: You really shouldn't talk about... Um... ::she barely mouths the word "sex":: in mixed company, Gloss. * Vallel looks a bit sheepish. "I was going to talk with her about it before we went. Even by horseback, it's a few days..." <Glossaria> ::listens to Michelle, the light of understanding going on behind her eyes:: Ah! I understand. A taboo subject. I'm sorry, Tarri, I tend to forget. <Jelarthna> And proud of it! ::strikes a pose, managing somehow to get the light to glint off of his teeth:: <Michelle> [Jel's been practicing fop cantrips.] * Sanriel takes a several long sips of his cider <Lisl> ::muttering:: Maybe he wants to get back at his hometown... ::grins:: * Kevil laughs, then confides in a conversational tone to Jel, "I have sworn not to annoy the Huntress Lisl with my... exuberance. Perhaps you would be so good as to convey it to her for me?" He grins at Lisl. <Sanriel> ::blinks and looks at Val and Gloss:: So what's this, then? You two are going back to Val's home? When? For how long? It'll be a bit lonely without my roommate there. <Vallel> Not too long... ::grins:: I don't want to miss too much school, and I'm sure Gloss will miss her library... maybe a week or so? <Lisl> ::makes a face at Kevil:: What's the point of promising not to annoy me if you're going to do it anyway by proxy? <Tarri> ::smiles tremulously at Gloss, the blush only slowly leaving her cheeks:: Just try to remember when you're in Khymrych, okay, Glossaria? It's... They're very... set in their ways. <Jelarthna> ::looks over at Lisl, then back at Kevil, then grins:: I'm not the best person to ask about *not* annoying Lisl. Heck, I do it on *purpose*. * Jaret remains mercifully silent. <Tarri> ::smiles shyly at San:: If your room gets too quiet, you could come and visit me. I'll keep you company. * Jelarthna grins at Jaret <Glossaria> ::nodding:: I wouldn't want to do anything to embarrass Val. ::taking his arm and squeezing it a little:: I will do my best to be discreet. <Sanriel> ::blushes and smiles quickly:: Thank you.. I'd like that. <Sanriel> Maybe if it's okay to take the baby out for fresh air we could go for a walk or something? <Lisl> ::laughs:: Ah, you. But even you two together aren't as bad as *he* can be. ::pointing her thumb at Kevil:: * Kevil smiles beatifically at Jel. "Just the man for the job, then." Very quickly, he grins mischievously before re-assuming a (somewhat tarnished) air of innocence <Tarri> Oh, that would be nice. * Jaret looks at Kevil quizzically. "Really? How awful. I must not be trying hard enough." * Michelle looks that the three men, "I disagree Lisl. I think Jaret's the best at it." <Jelarthna> ::blinks and looks impressed:: Wow. My hat's off to you then, sir! ::waves at his hat on the hook across the room:: <Jelarthna> If you want forgiveness, one way is to accept abuse. It makes her feel better. ::winks at Kevil:: * Vallel goes over to the other side of the room and recovers his girlfriend. "I'm sure she'll be fine, Tarri." <Lisl> ::nods:: Exactly what I said. Jaret's probably the best at it. But Kevil's the worst of them. <Kevil> ::puts on a mournful countenance:: Maligned, I am sure. * Michelle shakes her head, "No, I believe Kevil sometimes, but I can never take Jelarthna seriously." <Sanriel> ::nods a little:: I think Glossaria will be fine. ::smiles at her:: <Kevil> ::bows to Michelle:: My undying gratitude, Lady Michelle! * Jelarthna sticks his tongue out at Michelle <Glossaria> ::smiles back at San:: Thank you for the vote of confidence, San. <Tarri> ::smiles at Gloss worriedly:: I'm sure you will be. Just... Try to remember. * Tyl raises an eyebrow at Michelle. <Jelarthna> So now we have a fop-rating system? I'm in the middle of one and at the bottom of the other? ::looks mock-dejected:: <Jaret> Well, in any case... ::raises his snifter:: I feel I am in excellent company. ::drinks:: * Vallel looks a bit impish. "Of course, it might be fun to watch most of Khymrych have a collective apoplexy." <Lisl> ::snorts and lifts her glass:: A company of what, is the question. ::drinks:: <Sanriel> ::snickers at Val's comment:: You'd have time to run while everyone was stunned and trying to catch their breath. <Jaret> Gentlemen? Gallants? Perhaps even... heroes? * Kevil toasts Jaret with his meade. "You could not fail to be with excellent company, Lord Malkier, so long as yourself were present." <Glossaria> ::looking impish:: It *would* be a way of strengthening Mistress Nacheyla's bloodline.... <Jelarthna> ::raises his mug:: I'll toast to pretty much all of that. ::grins and takes a deep swallow:: * Tyl hangs off of Jelarthna's elbow, looking up at him with adoration. "Heroes is good." * Jelarthna blushes a little and looks lovingly down at Tyl before giving her a tender kiss * Tarri giggles at Gloss's comment. * Lisl chuckles and shakes her head, draining her mug. "Another, Michelle. I think I need it tonight." * Michelle refills Lisl's mug and carefully returns it to her. <Jelarthna> Thank you, love. ::starry eyes:: * Tyl straightens up. She laughs, elbowing Jelarthna in the ribs. <Sanriel> ::looks over at Michelle caution with the mug:: What's that? <Lisl> Thank you, Michelle. ::takes a deep swallow:: * Jelarthna grins and winces a little. <Michelle> Mule Kick. No I won't serve you any. The last thing I need is for patrons to start spontaneously combusting. <Sanriel> ::blinks:: Mule... kick? Spontaneously combusting? ::trips slightly over the larger words:: What's that? * Vallel turns a dark red. "Catching on fire." * Lisl has another sip. "Blowing up." <Sanriel> Oh! A drink could do that? ::shudders:: I definitely wouldn't want something like *that*. <Michelle> It's called mule kick because that's what it feels like to drink it...If you're strong enough to drink it that is. * Glossaria slips a comforting arm around Vallel's waist, giving him a reassuring squeeze. <Tarri> ::frowns slightly:: Spontanus... ::glances at Val, blushes suddenly, then looks worriedly at Lisl's drink:: <Jelarthna> ::laughs:: It's not *that* bad, don't let them scare you. But it's very very strong stuff. Lisl's special.. she can drink it. ::grins:: <Kevil> ::raises an eyebrow at Lisl:: Might I suggest, Huntress, that if you will drink such a volatile beverage, that you allow it to wear off well before you go home to the illa'azim's bonfire? ::he grins:: <Lisl> May I demonstrate, Michelle? ::grins:: I promise to sand the bar down, after. <Lisl> ::grins:: I planned to, Master Kevil. A good long jog in the rain, before I go home, to work it out of my system. * Michelle shakes her head at Lisl, "You enjoy this part of your drink, don't you Lisl? Go ahead." * Tarri glances at Lisl apprehensively and backs away from the bar a few steps. <Sanriel> ::pats Tarri comfortingly:: She's really tough, Tarri. ::smiles:: * Jelarthna laughs <Lisl> ::grins at Michelle:: Call it part of the zest. <Jelarthna> Don't worry, Lisl's done this before. No one will get hurt. ::grinning:: and it *is* pretty flashy. <Tarri> ::glances at San, then looks nervously back at the bar:: W- what's she going to do? <Tyl> Oh, I don't know... I usually call it "showing off", myself. * Kevil leans forward on his barstool, interested. <Sanriel> ::shakes his head:: I don't know... that "sanding down the bar" part sounded a bit ominous, though... <Michelle> I'd be inclined to agree Tyl'gainia, but since neither of us can drink the stuff I suppose we'll have to let her have her fun. * Sanriel moves slightly in front of Tarri, just in case <Tarri> ::looks a little frightened and half-hides behind San, one hand resting lightly on his arm:: * Jelarthna chuckles again * Lisl puts her mug down and dips a finger into it, making a circle of finger and thumb and flicking a drop onto the counter. Where it impacts, there's a blue flash of flame, a poof of smoke and a small crackling noise. When the smoke clears, there are three small but deep scorch marks on the bar. * Sanriel jumps a little * Tarri jumps with the small explosion. * Jelarthna grins * Lisl puts her finger in her mouth and licks off the remaining liquid. "Weapon and comestible, all in one. Mulekick." She grins. * Jaret raises his glass again, this time to Lisl, "It seems appropriate to say... To your health!" * Kevil leans further forward and rubs one of the scorch marks with one finger. "Amazing stuff." He looks back up at Lisl. "You *drink* such a thing?" <Lisl> ::grins and lifts her mug in a toast to Jaret, and then to Kevil:: Yup. <Jelarthna> ::grins:: Well put, Jaret! ::raises his mug again:: <Lisl> Someone has to. ::grins and takes a swallow:: * Kevil shakes his head, then lifts his mug to Jaret's toast. * Sanriel blinks and looks at Lisl with amazement * Tyl shakes her head. "Definitely a show off." <Jelarthna> Has to? Ha! You would feel that way, wouldn't you? ::shakes his head and grins:: Absolutely a show off... look at that grin. <Lisl> ::grins at Tyl:: Hey, the boys have their way of showing off, I have mine. <Tarri> ::whispers to no-one in particular:: That's... * Vallel comes up behind Tarri. "Disgusting?" he suggests. <Tarri> ::glances at Val, surprised:: I was going to say "amazing." ::she frowns slightly at him:: Are you all right? * Sanriel jumps again at Val's voice <Lisl> ::giving Vallel a look of mock-asperity:: It's an acquired taste. <Sanriel> ::nods quickly:: Very amazing... <Vallel> Oh, I'm fine... ::he smiles:: <Jelarthna> Acquired and quickly lost, usually. One way or another. ::grins:: <Tarri> ::smiles slightly:: I wonder how she can drink it without it catching fire when it splashes in her mouth? <Lisl> ::chuckles:: So I was born with a cast-iron stomach. Hey, it's the only thing I could drink Drach under the table with. And Iworo and Xarroch both can put *me* to shame with this stuff. <Sanriel> maybe it does... ::looks over at Lisl again in awe:: * Kevil touches the scorch marks on the bar again and rubs the char between his fingers thoughtfully. <Lisl> ::opens her mouth and shows San her tongue:: Nope. It's warm going down, but so's any good alcohol. <Jelarthna> ::snort:: That's not a surprise... you should see some of the things I've seen Xarroch drink. Who's Iworo? One of the old guard? <Tarri> ::looks at Lisl wide-eyed, then asks timidly:: Why doesn't it... catch fire in your mouth? <Sanriel> ::blushes a little:: Oh... so it just does that when it splashed hard? <Jaret> He was Sealgair's... um... relation. it's complicated. <Lisl> ::nodding:: 'Kick's from his world, originally. Same place Cean came from. <Jelarthna> Oh really? ::grins:: Neat! <Lisl> ::nodding to San and Tarri:: Like saltpeter. <Jelarthna> ::eyes Lisl:: Someone here must know how to make it though, right? <Tyl> No, Jelarthna. <Lisl> :;shrugs:: The Hall knows how. <Sanriel> ::shakes his head a little:: Saltpeter? <Tarri> ::frowns:: Salt...? :;she flashes a quick smile at San:: <Jelarthna> Ah! That sort of counts. ::grins at the taps:: * Sanriel grins back <Glossaria> ::piping up:: The explosive material formed by heat and pressure as manure ages without the presence of air. <Tarri> ::frowns slightly at Gloss:: That doesn't explain why she can drink it without it exploding. <Sanriel> ::smiles at Glossaria:: Always there with an answer.. thank you. ::nods in agreement with Tarri:: And how do you get manure out of the air? Put it in a jar or something? <Glossaria> Well, the food you eat doesn't simply drop into your stomach. Peristalsis eases it by degrees down the throat as you swallow. * Sanriel blinks a few times and looks confused at Glossaria, then at Tarri <Sanriel> Huh? <Glossaria> ::looking at San:: And if you have a large enough manure pile, the manure at the bottom, in the center, is... suffocated, if you will. It has no access to air as it consumes it in the process of fermentation. <Tarri> ::blinks at Glossaria, then shakes her head:: I'll... just take your word for it, Glossaria. <Sanriel> How large...? We didn't have all that many animals.. ::speaking slowly and still looking slightly dazed:: <Glossaria> ::bites her lip, and pulls out her notebook, sketching a quick diagram of the digestive system:: See these? These are rings of muscle around the throat, called sphincters. As they open and close in turn, the food slides down slowly. See? ::demonstrating with her hand:: <Jelarthna> ::grins slightly:: Just accept that Lisl's weird and everything's easier to take. <Lisl> ::sticks her tongue out at Jel:: * Jelarthna grins and sticks his tongue out in answer <Tarri> ::looks at Gloss's diagram, oddly fascinated.:: * Lisl shrugs and has another swallow of 'kick. * Sanriel stifles a giggles, then looks back at Glossaria's explanation * Tarri looks at Gloss's picture again, then slowly swallows a sip of her cider. She frowns, then closes her eyes and sips again. "Yes!" She looks excitedly at Sanriel. "I can feel it! Try it!" <Sanriel> Umm.. okay... ::cautiously takes a sip of his cider, then another:: * Tarri curiously watches San's adam's apple move as he swallows. * Michelle giggles and shakes her head, "You realize Tarri that that's how most of the muscles that pass things through your body work?" <Lisl> ::pats her stomach with a frown, and belches, covering her mouth quickly as a whisper of blue flame escapes her lips:: Excuse me. * Tarri looks at Michelle. "Really?" She frowns in thought. "I guess so." <Sanriel> strange... ::looks a bit started at Lisl's burp and stares for a moment:: * Jaret quietly rolls his eyes. * Michelle quirks an eyebrow at Lisl, "Maybe I should cut you off for the evening." * Kevil eyes Lisl's little jet of flame dubiously. <Jelarthna> tsk! You might burn the bar again, Lisl. <Lisl> ::nodding:: Probably a good idea. One and a half is generally enough when I'm not trying to get hammered. Could I have a meade, please, Michelle? <Kevil> ::laughs and lifts his own mug:: At last! She displays some taste! * Sanriel blinks a few times and looks down at his cider, then smiles * Jelarthna snickers <Michelle> If you're interested I'm sure Gloss as some books on anatomy. And once Temire's enrolled in Tyl'gainia's school I'll have some free time. I can teach you what I know of physiology. <Jelarthna> No wonder you keep annoying her, Kevil. <Kevil> ::grins at Jel:: How's that, Sir Jelarthna? <Lisl> ::raises her eyebrow at Kevil a touch coldly:: Don't knock it 'til you've tried it, Master Kevil. ::pushing her half-empty mug towards him:: You're welcome to try a sip... if you like. ::grins wickedly:: * Michelle takes the stone mug from Lisl and fills a regular mug with meade, "Here you go." <Sanriel> anatomy? phys.. physiology? Like the stuff Glossaria just showed us with how the throat works? <Jelarthna> I advise against it, Kevil. Seriously. * Tyl puts her hand lightly on Kevil's shoulder. "I wouldn't try that, if I were you." <Glossaria> ::nodding:: Physiology. Like PHYSical labor. Having to do with how the body works. * Michelle nods. "Physiology is the study of how the body works. Anatomy is the study of where things are located in the body." * Kevil looks dubiously into the stoneware mug. He picks it up and sniffs even more dubiously, then makes a face and pushes it back across the bar. "I hope for your sake, Huntress, it tastes better than it smells. <Jelarthna> And you just insulted her favorite drink... ::chuckles and shakes his head:: * Jelarthna moves behind Kevil and prepares to catch him <Jaret> Kevil, pushing that away was a very, very wise choice. Just to echo Jelarthna on this issue. * Tarri smiles at Michelle. "Maybe when I have some free time, too. That would be very nice of you, Mistress." <Lisl> ::chuckles:: No, it tastes about the same. Like I said, acquired taste. ::sips her meade:: <Sanriel> Oh... that sounds pretty neat! Like the sort of thing a doctor would know? Or Glossaria. ::grins:: * Jelarthna nods in agreement with Jaret * Vallel finishes eating the ice-cubes in his drink. "So, when would you like to get started on our trip, Gloss?" <Kevil> ::grins at Jel, Tyl, and Jaret:: I am not truly so foolish. <Jelarthna> Good man. ::smiles:: <Lisl> ::undertoning:: Often. <Jelarthna> ::laughs a little:: Kevil, I do feel I have to thank you. <Tyl> Just trying to make sure... I had three drops one time-diluted in water-and I still ended up on the floor. * Michelle nods to Sanriel, "That's how I learned a lot of it, the rest was just picked up as I was growing up." <Kevil> ::grins at Lisl and nods:: Of course, Huntress. ::he looks like he's about to say something else, then stops himself and turns to Jel:: Thank me, my friend? For what? <Glossaria> ::smiling:: When *can* we start? I have a few projects I should finish up in the Library first... I could leave in...::thinks:: Three days? <Sanriel> Wow... you all know such amazing things. ::smiles and shakes his head a little:: I never imagined there was so *much* to learn... <Jelarthna> ::grins and raises his mug to Kevil:: For being the new target. ::winks:: <Tarri> ::smiles at San sympathetically:: It's amazing, isn't it? * Vallel smiles. "Sounds good. I can get some supplies... we'll be on the road a few days or so... I wouldn't want to push you on your first trip." <Sanriel> ::nods:: It really is... ::smiles back:: <Kevil> ::laughs, then bows to Jel:: Kevil Talarin, Target, at your service, Sir. <Michelle> Depends on what you want to do with your life Sanriel. I've known lots of people who didn't want to do anything more then tend their animals or their crops and didn't know a thing outside of that, and they were perfectly happy with their lives. <Glossaria> ::nodding and grinning excitedly:: I very much look forward to practicing with a real horse. <Jelarthna> ::bows in return:: Not that it doesn't have a certain element of fun, but... ::laughs:: <Tarri> ::nods:: Most of my village is like that. <Sanriel> ::smiles at Michelle:: I.. I think I was like that, too. I don't think I could go back now, though. <Lisl> ::grinning at Jel:: Oh, don't feel neglected, Jel. I'm certain I'll still have plenty of ammunition left over for you. <Kevil> ::grins at Jel:: I have always been one to... walk the dangerous path, d'va? * Michelle nods, "Most small villages are." <Glossaria> Besides, Learning is so much *fun*! <Vallel> ::laughs a bit ruefully:: You might feel differently after a day in the saddle." <Jelarthna> ::chuckles:: Oh, I'm *sure* you will, Lisl! But perhaps a bit less, which could be a welcome change for a while. * Jaret finishes off his brandy. "It's been wonderful to see everyone, but I had really best be going." * Michelle shrugs, "A lot of people say that, and a lot of people curse having their happy little world destroyed by outside knowledge." <Jelarthna> Who knows, maybe I'll do something else stupid enough to earn your full attention, though hopefully Tyl can help me avoid that. ::winks at Tyl:: * Kevil raises his mug to Jaret. "Good night, Lord Malkier!" * Tyl glowers at Jelarthna. "You aren't allowed to do anymore stupid things, you know." <Glossaria> ::narrowing her eyes at Michelle:: More people have been killed by ignorance, Michelle, than by knowledge. <Sanriel> ::blushes a little, looking around at everyone, then shakes his head:: I.. think I like it. Rather a lot. ::smiles at Tarri:: <Lisl> Good night, Jaret, sleep sweet. <Michelle> Goodnight Jaret. <Tarri> ::smiles shyly at San:: Me, too. * Jaret swirls his cloak around his shoulders, and gracefully bows to the room before putting his hat back on his head. "Good night, everyone!" <Jelarthna> Good night, Jaret. It was very nice to see you! * Jelarthna returns the bow with a smile * Jaret leaves the Hall. <Lisl> ::laughing:: If you think that's something he can give up by getting married, Tyl, you married for the wrong reasons. <Michelle> Alright, last call everyone. <Tyl> ::shakes her head:: No... I married him because I love him. Keeping him from doing stupid things is the challenge... <Jelarthna> Oh.. I think I can manage to do better now. I have a lot more reason to. * Kevil drinks the rest of his cider with a long swallow and pushes the mug across the bar toward Michelle. <Lisl> ::raising her eyebrow:: Just make sure he doesn't put anything strange on his arm. <Jelarthna> I didn't *put* anything on it, it was *broken*. ::shudders a little:: * Lisl takes a long swallow of cider. "Or goes vacationing in the Hells. * Tarri starts and takes several swallows of cider. * Sanriel blushes slightly and finishes off his cider, looking around curiously at the banter * Michelle picks up Kevil's mug and sets it on the floor so it can waddle into the kitchen. <Lisl> It wasn't just broken, it was *cursed.* ::shakes her head:: Only you, Jel. * Tyl shrugs, smiling slightly. "We'll see what I can manage... on the other hand, stupid things can be a lot of fun, as long as I get to go along..." <Tarri> ::listens to the chat a bit, then leans toward San and whispers:: It's like a storybook, only real! * Vallel offers his arm to Glossaria. "Shall we go? We have a great deal of planning and packing to do." <Jelarthna> ::smiles at Tyl:: I'll be sure to include you in anything stupid I do, love. If only to save my rear again. <Tyl> And a very cute rear it is... ::winks:: <Glossaria> ::nodding and standing, shaking more gold dust from her skirts as she does so:: Oh, dear. It seems to be everywhere. Pernicious stuff. <Sanriel> ::giggles a little and nods:: Pretty incredible, isn't it? * Vallel starts picking up the gold dust, looking at it curiously. "Why are you shedding gold all over the place?" ::starts sweeping it into his handkerchief:: <Michelle> Accident in the tower Glossaria? * Tarri nods, then takes her empty mug up to the bar. "Thank you, Mistress. How much do I owe?" <Lisl> ::rolls her eyes:: Well, just remember you two. You may have deserted bachelorhood, but your single friends are still here. You do something stupid, you can still feel free to call on me. <Jelarthna> ::grins:: Thank you, dear! ::sets a small jingling pouch on the bar:: <Tyl> You're just the person I would call for stupid things... ::she grins evilly at Lisl:: <Sanriel> ::puts a hand on Tarri's arm:: It's okay, I'll get it... Mistress Michelle, how much for the ciders? <Glossaria> Well, I was limning a text, and I thought to try a new method... but I'm afraid I wound up limning myself, too. <Michelle> Don't worry about it. I suspect Glossaria is going to leave behind enough for everyone. And if not, I know Jelarthna will. * Kevil laughs at Tyl's comment. <Jelarthna> You just want to be along for the fun, Lisl... don't worry, I'm sure we can include you once in a while. ::grins:: <Lisl> ::laughs:: Rhys said he still had leftovers from *before* the wedding. <Tarri> ::blushes:: Oh. Thank you. <Lisl> ::grins:: But of course. Have to get my jollies somewhere. <Sanriel> ::blinks and looks at Gloss's dusting and at Jelarthna, hand still near his purse:: Really? <Michelle> Really Sanriel. <Glossaria> ::sighs:: Cup your hands, San. <Sanriel> Okay, thank you, Mistress Michelle, Master Jelarthna... * Sanriel smiles at Gloss curiously and does as instructed * Glossaria bends over his cupped hands and scrubs her fingers vigorously through her hair. Gold dust showers from her hair into his hands, onto his clothes, onto the floor.... She straightens. "There. Enough?" * Kevil stands and stretches. "Ah, well. To work." He smiles and sweeps a bow toward the room in general. "Good night, my friends." * Michelle shakes her head, "Do I even want to know what work you're up to this late in the evening?" * Tarri watches Gloss's shower of gold with wide eyes, slightly pale. <Sanriel> ::blinks a few times:: Is this *real*? ::looks very surprised:: I just.. thought... Don't you want it back?? <Lisl> ::grins at Michelle:: Do you REALLY want to know? * Vallel uses his handkerchief to clean a large swath of gold dust from the floor. * Michelle looks at Lisl, "Probably not." <Glossaria> Of course it's real. And no, I don't need it back. It's too fine to melt and reuse. ::dryly:: Besides, I got the desk, too. <Kevil> ::blinks at Michelle:: Have you forgotten, Lady Michelle? My contract with the Dragon's Den includes providing entertainment for the late crowd. ::he glances out the window:: <Michelle> I had forgotten Kevil. Well get along then, we wouldn't want you without a home. ::Michelle smiles at Kevil:: <Lisl> ::coughs into her fist:: And here I thought they only did arrangements like that down on Pleasure Island... * Sanriel looks amazed and carefully carries the gold dust up to the counter * Jelarthna coughs and laughs <Kevil> ::grins at Michelle:: Your generosity, Lady, knows no bounds. ::he nods at everyone and sweeps out the door:: * Michelle giggles. <Jelarthna> Shall we get going, love? ::offers Tyl his arm:: <Lisl> ::stands:: I should be taking off, too, if I want to get my run in before bed. Mind if I use the back door, Michelle? <Tarri> ::quietly:: Uhm... Thank you, Glossaria. Enjoy your trip, if I don't see you before you leave... <Michelle> Go ahead Lisl. * Tyl nods, a slightly avaricious glitter to her eyes as she looks at the gold dust. <Glossaria> ::smiles:: I will. And I won't forget, we'll be sure to visit your father. * Vallel carefully folds his handkerchief and nods to Tarri. <Michelle> [Tyl, the one person in the room most likely to be able to not only recover the gold, but reuse it] <Vallel> Let's go, Gloss... <Tarri> Thank you. <Sanriel> ::offers the gold dust to Michelle, speaking quietly:: Would you take this, Mistress Michelle? Maybe somehow use it for Glossaria? <Glossaria> ::nods and takes Val's arm:: <Tyl> Hold up a moment... ::walks over to sanriel:: Turn around, Master Tailorson. * Vallel leaves the Hall. * Michelle smiles at Sanriel, "Just clap your hands over the bar a couple of times, I'm going to have to clean the floor and bar up anyway." <Jelarthna> Hmm. okay.. ::waits a moment:: <Sanriel> Good night, Val, Glossaria! * Glossaria leaves on Vallel's arm. <Tyl> Hang on, Michelle... let me try something... <Glossaria> Goodnight! <Tarri> ::waves to Val and Gloss:: * Lisl finishes her meade and waves to the room, slipping out the back door quietly. <Sanriel> okay... ::turns around to face Tyl:: Yes, Lady Nightstorm? <Jelarthna> night, Lisl! * Tyl holds one hand over the gold dust, her face tensing in concentration. <Sanriel> Good night, Lady Ferinsdottir! <Michelle> Goodnight Lisl. <Tyl> :: a few seconds pass and nothing seems to happen, then suddenly, with a metallic ringing noise, the gold dust accumulates from the floor, the bar, Sanriel's clothing, and his hand, forming into a large lump in Sanriel's hand:: * Sanriel gasps and drops the lump of gold, blowing on his hands * Tarri watches Tyl's performance with wide eyes. <Sanriel> wh.. you put it together? * Tyl opens her eyes. "Oh, I'm sorry... I shouldn't have done that right over your skin like that... are you all right?" <Tarri> Oh! Sanriel, are you hurt? <Michelle> Let me see Sanriel. <Sanriel> ::opens his slightly burned hands:: it's okay, it just took me by surprise... ::blushes at all of the sudden attention:: * Jelarthna picks up the gold nugget and sets it in front of Sanriel <Jelarthna> Nice work, dear. ::smiles:: * Michelle covers Sanriel's hands with her own, a faint white glow encompassing them. When she removes her hands the burns are gone. <Tyl> Thanks, Michelle... ::flushes:: I hate injuring my students... it's bad form. <Sanriel> ::sighs softly, then smiles at Michelle:: ohh.. that felt nice... Thank you, Mistress Michelle. * Tarri watches Michelle's healing with awe. * Michelle smiles at Tyl, "Don't worry about it. You're a lot easier on them than Yohko, and she won't let me heal Temire." * Sanriel looks at his hands, flexing them a few times and looking amazed <Michelle> You're welcome Sanriel. <Tyl> Anyway... ::eyes the gold nugget:: Here, Sanriel ::hands him three platinum coins from her pocket:: That should cover your half. <Sanriel> I've never seen anything like that before.... <Sanriel> ::blinks:: what are these? <Michelle> The healing or the gold. <Tyl> Platinum... worth five gold each... ::eyes the gold lump:: I think that's about fair. <Sanriel> ::blushes a little:: Both! <Sanriel> worth five... ::trails off and looks shocked:: <Tarri> ::Tarri gasps and backs toward the door a few steps:: <Tyl> ::shrugs:: Gloss gave it to you, I just made it spendable... and, took a small commission, of course. <Sanriel> but I can't accept this.... it's Glossaria's... or at least should be yours, Lady Nightstorm, you fixed it... <Michelle> Something wrong Tarri? <Jelarthna> ::chuckles:: I don't think this is an argument you can win, Sanriel. Just accept it. Maybe buy something nice for yourself and Tarisa. ::grins:: * Tyl pockets the lump of gold, looking smug and satisfied with herself... <Sanriel> but... <Tarri> ::looks at Michelle and shakes her head, breathless:: Oh, no, Mistress... <Jelarthna> ::laughs and puts the coins in the young man's hand, then folds his fingers over them:: It's alright, really. * Sanriel looks hesitant, then nods slowly. <Sanriel> alright... * Tyl takes Jelarthna's arm and leads him out of the Hall... <Tyl> Come along, dear... <Jelarthna> ::waves jauntily as he gathers his hat and cloak:: Good night, all! <Sanriel> ::still looking a little stunned:: umm.. could I walk you home, Tarri? ::looks up and smiles at her shyly:: <Tarri> Oh, I... Please. ::she smiles back at San:: <Sanriel> ::smiles up at Michelle again:: Thank you again, Lady Michelle. ::opens the door for Tarri:: <Michelle> Goodnight you two. * Tarri slips through the door and into the dark night with a sigh of almost relief. <Sanriel> Goodnight! * Sanriel follows Tarri quickly, engaging her in hushed and more than a little awed conversation * Michelle shoos the last of the dished into the kitchen, dims the lamps and locks the door. |
