* Rhys walks in from the back room, humming quietly to himself. He unlocks the front door. "Hall's open!" * Rhys returns behind the bar. * Sanriel strolls in almost instantly on the door being unlocked and gives Rhys a smile <Sanriel> Hello! * Sanriel is carrying a small pail with some water and a fish, and cuffs of his pants are slightly damp * Nacheyla comes in, skipping rope and chanting "Birdie Birdie in the sky/Why's you do that in my eye?/Birdie Birdie in the sky/I'm sure glad that cows don't fly!" * Sabrina walks in a minute after Sanriel. She looks around a bit and goes to sit at the bar. She smiles and nods to Rhys and smiles at Sanriel as she slips onto the seat next to him. <Rhys> Evening. I'm Rhys Altain, barkeep this evening. What can I get you? <Rhys> Evening Nacheyla, that's disgusting. Water, Sabrina? * Lisl bumps open the back door and heads directly for the kitchen carrying a string of ducks over her shoulder and something else very carefully in her bundled-up cloak. <Sanriel> Nice to meet you, Master Altain. I'm Sanriel Tailorson. ::smiles and offers Rhys his hand:: * Sabrina nods to Rhys "Yes thank you" * Rhys shakes Sanriel's hand. "Nice to meet you, too." <Lisl> ::calling:: 'Evening, Rhys, where do you want the eggs? * Nacheyla tucks her jump rope into her belt and climbs up onto a stool. <Nacheyla> Hiya Rhys! <Sanriel> I'd like a beer please, Rhys. ::smiles at Nacheyla, Sabrina, and Lisl:: Good evening, Ladies! * Sabrina smiles at Nach "Hello Nacheyla" <Sanriel> ::offers Sabrina the pail with a grin:: Here's your fish! <Rhys> ::talking over his shoulder, to Lisl:: "I think there's a basket with pine needles that they're usually kept in, back in that oak set of cabinets. * Glossaria enters and turns to hold open the door for Tarri. * Rhys gets Sabrina some water and Sanriel some beer. * Tarri enters somewhat timidly, seemingly carried along in Glossaria's wake. <Nacheyla> Eggs? ::jumps off her stool:: What kind of eggs? * Sabrina takes the pail and looks down in it. She wrinkles her nose and looks back up grinning at Sanriel "I thought you were gonna cook it?" <Sanriel> Hi, Glossaria! Hi, Lady Mandeil! ::waves happily:: <Lisl> ::from the depths of the kitchen:: Right... oops! ::there's a loud scraping/bumping sound and a quick scrabbling, but no resultant crash. "Never mind, everything's okay!" * Rhys closes his eyes and waits for the sound of the crash, but says nothing. <Glossaria> Oh, come now, you've been here before! We don't bite! Well, not most of us. <Sanriel> ::grins at Sabrina:: I'm sorry, it took me forever to just get the one, and I didn't have time. We could ask Master Altain to cook it, though. Val said he was *really* good. <Glossaria> Good evening, Sanriel. <Rhys> Eggs, Nacheyla. I don't know. Ask Lisl when she rejoins us. * Sabrina nods and holds the pail out to Rhys. "Rhys do you think you could cook this fish for us? Please" <Tarri> ::brightens slightly when she sees San:: Master Tailorson, it's good to see you! <Rhys> Val.. Vallel? You know Vallel? How nice. Yes, I suppose I can fry them up for you if you'd like, as soon as things calm down a bit. * Lisl re-enters the main room and slides onto a stool. "Nothing harmed, nothing broken." She grins. "'Kick, please, Rhys?" <Rhys> Glossaria, Tarri, can I get you anything? <Nacheyla> ::jumping up and down impatiently:: What sort of eggs?? <Sanriel> That would be great! ::smiles at Sabrina again:: See, there you go! So yours will probably taste lots better than mine did. * Rhys pours Lisl a mug of mulekick. <Sanriel> ::to Tarri:: Nice to see you again, too! Did you enjoy your time in the library? ::grins at Gloss:: <Glossaria> ::with a studied frown:: I'm up to... ::consults her notebook:: L. Suggestions? <Nacheyla> Rhys? Can I get a chocolate milk? <Tarri> ::jumps somewhat at Rhys' question:: Oh! Oh, no, thank you. <Sabrina> ::Smiles:: I'm sure you're was just fine <Lisl> ::grins:: Calm down, Nach. Duck eggs. <Tarri> ::to San:: Oh, yes! It's just wonderful! <Lisl> Thanks, Rhys. ::accepts the mug and takes a swallow:: <Nacheyla> Oh... well, those are still good... but I was hoping for wyvern eggs or something. * Glossaria beams at Tarri's enthusiasm. <Sanriel> ::laughs:: I think I'd be scared to see so many books.. I'd probably try to picture all the *words* that must be there and get a headache thinking about trying to figure them out. * Rhys finds a mug, fiddles around with the taps for a while, and eventually pours Nacheyla a mug of chocolate milk. "Here you are." <Tarri> ::eyes Nach somewhat dubiously, looking around surreptitiously for her parent, then shrugs:: * Sabrina takes a sip of her water <Rhys> ::frowns near Glossaria:: Hm... Lange Island Iced Tea? Or a Lemon Drop, if you're doing shots. <Lisl> ::raises an eyebrow at Nach:: You want to raise a wyvern? 'Cause the eggs aren't particularly tasty, I can tell you that right now. ::shudders:: Like lizard eggs. Ick. <Nacheyla> Thank you! ::slurps some milk, leaving a milk mustache on her upper lip:: <Tarri> ::lightly touches San's arm, smiling:: I said I would help. <Sanriel> ::smiles back:: Thanks, I really feel like I need it. <Glossaria> ::cocking her head:: Lange Island Iced Tea? I wasn't aware that tea could be alcoholic. <Glossaria> ::smiles at Tarri:: You're tutoring him? Wonderful! * Sanriel grins at Nacheyla's antics <Tarri> ::looks interested:: Oh, our village herbwoman used to put a little brandy in tea, to help you sleep, when you had a cold. <Nacheyla> I never had a wyvern as a pet... do they make good pets? <Glossaria> ::hastily:: Not that I dislike giving you extra time, San. I just... it hurts to see you so struggle so. <Tarri> ::smiles shyly at Gloss:: Well... I know you're teaching him, but I thought a reader closer to his level might help... <Tarri> I hope you don't mind. <Glossaria> ::shakes her head:: I don't mind at all. The more the merrier, as the saying goes. * Sabrina looks between Tarri Sanriel and Gloss curiously but says nothing <Sanriel> ::blushes slightly:: Well, she's nice enough to have offered to help a little. I think I need all the practice I can get. And from someone from a village like I am, it might help. ::grins:: * Rhys gets out a glass, adds multiple alcoholic bits, and finally a touch of a dark brown beverage, until the result is tea colored. "Here you are, Glossaria. It's stronger than it tastes, usually." <Sanriel> Oh, I'm sorry! Lady Sabrina, this is Lady Glossaria Anobium and Lady Tarri Mandeil, two of my friends. And this is Lady Sabrina, who I met out by the river, and who helped me catch a fish on her first try! * Nacheyla looks over at Tarri suddenly, her brow furrowing. * Sabrina flushes slightly and smiles at both the women "Nice to meet you" <Lisl> Wyverns? As pets? ::dryly:: Well, they're stupid, aggressive, and evil in nature. They've got a scorpion tail, and they eat at least two hundred pounds of flesh a day. Sure. Sounds like a great pet, Nach. <Tarri> ::blushes:: I'm not a great lady, Master Tailorson. "Miss" will do. ::she blushes a little:: Or just Tarri. ::she smiles at Sabrina:: It's nice to meet you, Lady Sabrina. * Sabrina laughs softly at Tarri "Nor am I a Lady. Sabrina is fine" <Sanriel> ::shudders:: Lady Ferinsdottir? What is that beast you're talking about, it sounds frightening? <Glossaria> ::smiles and offers a hand to Sabrina:: And you can call me Gloss. Pleased to meet you, Sabrina. <Tarri> ::smiles a little wider:: Sabrina, then. <Nacheyla> Sounds like fun... I wonder if I could ride it? * Sabrina shakes Gloss's hand "Nice to meet you as well Gloss" <Glossaria> Thank you, Master Rhys. ::peering at the glass curiously, sniffing:: What's in it? * Sanriel beams at his new friends meeting * Rhys begins ticking off on his fingers, "Tequila, rum, gin, vodka, sweet and sour, and some sweet fizzy thing for color and flavor." <Lisl> ::to Sanriel:: A wyvern. Don't worry, the only one's you'll see around this area are heraldic. Nach, you're saying that just to drive me insane, aren't you? * Nacheyla grins. <Glossaria> Tequila? ::frowns and peers into the depths of the glass:: It doesn't have a worm in it, does it? <Rhys> Heavens, no. * Lisl tousles Nach's hair. "Scamp." * Rhys holds his hand out to Sanriel. "Now, if you want, I'll get to that fish before it spoils on you." <Sanriel> Heraldic? You mean like on Lords' flags and such? <Nacheyla> Spoilsport... I bet I could ride a wyvern, if I wanted to. <Sanriel> Oh! Yes, please, thank you! Would you like me to clean it for you? I didn't have time before I came here... ::offers the pail to Rhys:: <Tarri> ::glances at the fishbucket as it changes hands, and smiles at San:: I see your fishing trip was successful. <Glossaria> Oh. Alright. ::takes another sniff before taking a sip:: Oh my! It *is* similar in flavor to sweetened iced tea with lemon. Though... ::frowning:: I can't taste the alcohol. * Rhys blinks at Nacheyla. "Nacheyla, dear, it has a scorpion tail. It has an instinctive reaction to repeatedly sting anything on its back." <Sabrina> ::looks past Sanriel to Tarri:: Are you going to the school that Sanriel goes to? * Lisl nods to Sanriel. <Sanriel> ::chuckles:: Only barely, but I at least got the one I promised to La.. Sabrina. ::smiles:: <Nacheyla> Well, you just have to teach it to be nice... ::grins:: <Rhys> That would be quite nice, Sanriel. ::pulls a stool out from the kitchen:: You can sit here and clean it, so you can talk with your friends. <Sanriel> What's a scorpion? <Sabrina> I'm looking forward to tasting it too ::smiles:: <Rhys> ::looks at Sanriel:: Which school do you go to? <Tarri> ::blinks at Sabrina's question, then laughs:: Oh, no! I'm not special at all. I'm just a nanny. Master Tailorson happened to know my mistress, and she introduced us. He was kind enough to show me around Marsember a little. ::she flushes a little as she smiles at him:: <Sanriel> Thanks, Master Altain! ::moves around to perch on the stool and pulls out his knife, checking the edge before pulling the fish from the pail: <Lisl> ::looking at Nacheyla:: You fight undead, you don't age... well, don't age *much*, and you've got a sword that cuts through anything. You probably *could* ride one. But I doubt it would be a pleasant experience for either of you. * Rhys comes out with a metal bucket, which he places by Sanriel. "For the innards." <Sanriel> School? Oh, Lady Nightstorm's school. I just was admitted a couple of weeks ago, so I'm just getting started. <Sanriel> ::smiles at Tarri:: I think you're pretty special! <Tarri> ::swivels her head around, catching part of Lisl's comment to Nach. She looks at Nach again, her eyes widening and one hand lifting to cover her mouth:: <Sabrina> ::nods to Tarri:: Oh. Ok ::she smiles and turns her attention to watching Sanriel:: <Glossaria> ::piping up:: A scorpion is a desert-dwelling creature of the family Arachnida. Pincers and a stinger in the tail are characteristic of the species. ::thoughtfully:: It's also what the zodical sign Scorpio is named for. <Nacheyla> ::notices Tarri looking at her:: Well, damn. ::smiles:: Hi, Miss Mandeil. Nice to see you again. <Rhys> Oh... just so you know, Tyl has in the past asked that the beginning students abstain from alcohol, to help their concentration. Do you know if you're under any such restriction? <Sanriel> Thank you again, Master Altain! ::sets about cleaning the fish, a bit slowly, but carefully and doing a good job:: <Tarri> ::whispers, still staring at Nach:: B-blessed Mother? * Sabrina looks between Sanriel and Tarri then continues to watch him clean the fish <Rhys> And please, just Rhys. <Sanriel> ::grins at Gloss:: It's nice to have you around to answer all those questions! <Nacheyla> ::sigh:: You can just call me Nach, if you want... <Sanriel> Umm.. not that I know of, Master Altain... but I'm not actually doing much yet. I'll be sure to ask.. I didn't realize it would be a problem. <Lisl> ::grins:: Yeah, I know. "I spoil all your fun." <Tarri> N-Na- ::she can't quite manage it:: Lady Nacheyla... Is that really you? <Sanriel> ::blinks at Tarri and Nach curiously:: Blessed Mother? <Nacheyla> ::nods:: It is really me... <Tarri> ::glances at San:: Didn't Val tell you about his ancestor? The Blessed Mother Nacheyla? <Lisl> ::glances at Sanriel:: Long story, San. ::grins:: <Rhys> ::to Sanriel:: Just checking. * Nacheyla moves over and sits at the table with Gloss, Tarri and Sanriel. * Sanriel looks confused and shakes his head <Sanriel> Val told me that Lady du'Rosten was his aunt... <Lisl> ::eyes moving to Tarri:: Tho' I didn't realize we had another of your offspring in-house. Sorry, Nach. * Tarri doesn't seem afraid of Nacheyla so much as in awe. "I didn't know you were here, Lady." <Nacheyla> ::turning to Lisl:: She's not related... I encourage outside people to move into Khymrych. <Sanriel> ::finishes cleaning the fish and offers the results to Rhys:: What would you like me to do with the nasty parts? <Tarri> ::nods:: But I grew up with... ::she blushes:: I- I'm sorry. You must get tired of that. * Rhys gestures at the metal bucket he brought out. "Dump them in there. I'll dispose of them later." * Rhys takes the fillets and heads back into the kitchen. <Lisl> ::grins:: Oh? Expanding your worship base? <Sanriel> Okay, thank you again, Master Altain. ::cleans the nasty bits into the bucket and puts it beside the bar:: <Sabrina> ::looks up at Sanriel:: Will you teach me to do that to...sometime? <Nacheyla> No! ::looking vaguely offended:: Trying to expand the bloodlines. <Sanriel> ::blinks:: Worship base? * Lisl wrinkles her nose, snorting a little as the scent of fish innards wafts her way:: <Rhys> ::quiet sizzling sound start in the kitchen, along with the rattle of pots being moved around:: <Nacheyla> ::takes a deep breath:: To make a very long story excessively short, I'm three hundred years old and have hundreds of descendants... most of them live in Khymrych, where I'm a bit... well... ::trails off:: <Lisl> ::still grinning:: Oh, a bre-- ::glances at Tarri again and falls silent:: Well, never mind, then. * Sanriel looks at Nacheyla with wide eyes <Tarri> ::blushes crimson at what Lisl almost said and looks away:: * Temire enter through the side/front door. She's dressed in her usual plain shirt and breeches, with her conch shell handled rapier at her side. <Glossaria> ::suggests:: The word for those who are not yet deities is "venerated," I believe, Mistress Nacheyla. <Nacheyla> Sure... that's a lovely word, Gloss.... <Temire> Good evening all. I see we've got some new customers since the last time I was here. <Sanriel> yet? ::slightly more surprised:: <Lisl> 'evening, Temire, good to see you again. How's Mother holding up? <Sanriel> ::smiles at Sabrina:: I'd be happy to show you how to clean a fish. If you're gonna catch 'em you should know how to get 'em ready. * Nacheyla groans, covering her head with her hands. * Sabrina smiles at Temire as she enters "Hello Temire" * Temire walks up and hugs Nacheyla, "How are you Nacheyla?" * Nacheyla hugs Temire back. "Hey Mira!" * Sabrina nods to Sanriel "Thank you. I would like to learn how" * Temire grins at Lisl and releases Nach, "Your mother's fine, though she does wish you'd visit more. Went on about it to the point that I almost visited my mother." <Sanriel> ::jumps up smiles at Temire:: Hi! I'm new, I guess, yes. Sanriel Tailorson. <Lisl> ::grins at Temire:: Nach will probably say that I'm bullying her terribly. Don't believe a word of it. * Sanriel snickers quietly for a moment <Nacheyla> *You* are making fun of me! ::sticks her tongue out at Lisl:: * Sanriel laughs <Lisl> ::chuckles:: Well, I visit when I can. If I don't, she'd come visit *me.* ::looking mildly distressed at this prospect:: <Rhys> ::the sizzling from the kitchen gets louder, and the smells of cooking fish, along with some lemon and pepper waft out into the Hall:: * Tarri looks back up, though she's still blushing. When no one is looking, she hastily wipes the corners of her eyes before smiling tentatively at the latecomer. * Lisl 's nose twitches. * Temire curtsies to Sanriel despite not wearing a skirt, "Temire. I'm afraid I have no family name at the moment." <Sanriel> ::smiles encouragingly at Tarri:: Everything okay? Things do seem to be pretty odd here, but usually good... <Sanriel> ::smiles at Temire:: You don't? Why no.. ::blushes:: I'm sorry, I don't mean to pry. Umm, nice to meet you! * Sanriel offers Temire his hand * Temire turns to Tarri, "And you are?" * Temire shakes Sanriel's hand. <Nacheyla> ::mutters to Sanriel:: If she's anything like most of the rest of the villagers at Khymrych, she's probably in a bit of religious shock... ::turns to Tarri:: It really is okay... <Tarri> ::smiles somewhat at San:: I'm glad you're here to help me. <Tarri> ::she looks at Temire with faint surprise, then smiles and offers her hand:: Tarri Mandeil. * Rhys comes out of the kitchen with the fillets on a platter, and a short stack of plates in his other hand. "Here you are, Sanriel." <Sanriel> ::smiles back:: That's what friends are for, right? * Temire shakes Tarri's hand, "So are you a student at the academy?" <Sanriel> Mmmm.. that smells *wonderful*, Master Altain, thank you!! * Glossaria smiles happily, taking another swallow of 'Tea. * Sanriel takes the platter and sets it in front of Sabrina in a clumsy mock-ceremonial fashion. <Sanriel> Your fish, Lady! ::grins and fetches his beer:: <Tarri> ::looks a little distressed:: Why does everyone ask me that? I didn't know it was such an enormous school! ::she recovers her smile:: No, no, I'm just a nanny. Nothing really special about me - Master Tailorson just happened to be acquainted with my mistress. * Sabrina grins at Sanriel and takes a fork smelling the fish for a moment before taking a bite of it <Rhys> You're welcome, Master Tailorson. <Sanriel> ::chuckles and grins at Tarri:: I'm starting to feel like the only people our age that come here go to Lady Nightstorm's school. <Tarri> ::shivers slightly:: I certainly *hope* I don't have to! * Temire blinks at Tarri and pulls up a chair, "Are you helping to support your family, or is being a nanny what you want to do with your life?" <Sanriel> ::shakes his head:: No, you have a pretty important job! <Lisl> "Just a nanny." She molds the lives of small children, and yet... ::shakes her head, grinning:: <Sanriel> ::grins at Lisl:: That's what the rest of us keep saying. <Tarri> ::looks at Temire somewhat nervously:: No, I'm a nanny because... I... Because I couldn't get married. ::she glances at Gloss briefly:: And the Lady-Priestess Natovna was good enough to find a position here for me. <Glossaria> ::looking affronted:: *I* don't go to the School. ::thoughtfully:: Well, I don't attend it as a student, at any rate. * Sabrina grins at Sanriel "It's wonderful" * Temire pats Tarri's hand, "No. In fact I didn't go there till just recently. Or at least I will once Mistress Tyl is back from her honeymoon. But I'm going because I want to, not because we're worried that I'll burn the house down." * Temire cocks her head at Tarri, "Did you want to get married?" <Sanriel> ::grins at Sabrina:: Thank Master Altain for the wonderful part... he's the one that cooked it. <Rhys> Now, since I've been away in the kitchen neglecting my duties here, does anyone need a refill? <Tarri> ::blushes and puts her hand over her mouth again:: Has *everyone* heard...? * Sabrina nods and smiles at Rhys "It's really very good Rhys" <Tarri> ::recovering slightly:: Well... Getting married was pretty much the only thing a girl could do in my village. * Lisl frowns at Tarri, and shakes her head as she takes another swallow of 'kick, muttering something about "marrying 'em off younger and younger..." <Sanriel> ::pats Tarri's shoulder:: I'm sure not *everyone*... <Tarri> ::smiles somewhat weakly at San:: <Sanriel> ::nods:: It was the same where I was from, too. <Lisl> ::grins at Rhys:: Well, I could use a little something else from the kitchen. Think you could find me a bit of venison? * Temire blinks at Tarri, "Sounds like your village and my family would have gotten along splendidly. But you're not in your village anymore. What do you want to do with your life?" <Sanriel> ::offers his beer to Tarri:: Would you like some? * Sabrina pushes the plate towards Sanriel "you should try some" * Temire perks up, "If you're getting venison for Lisl I'd like some as well Rhys. And...Oh, surprise me, but no fey wine, I got enough of that while I was with Grandmother Aldis." <Sanriel> ::shakes his head and smiles:: That's okay, it's yours. And I was snacking while I was fishing, so I'm really not hungry. <Tarri> ::blinks at Temire again:: I don't really know... It's not like I have that many choices, even here. I'll probably graduate from nanny to governess eventually. Unless I... I meet someone here. ::she blushes again:: * Lisl chokes mid-swallow, and with masterful effort manages to swallow. "GRANDMOTHER Aldis?? Gods, girl, don't let Mother hear you say that!" * Sabrina offers Tarri the plate of fish "would you like to try some Tarri?" <Rhys> How do you like your venison, Temire? <Glossaria> ::looking at San, concerned:: You were eating worms? I thought those were for the *fish* to snack on. At least, that's what Vallel said. <Tarri> ::looks surprised, then smiles:: Oh! I... ::she glances around hesitantly:: Maybe just one bite....? * Nacheyla looks at Tarri, frowning. <Nacheyla> Maybe I ought to go home for a while... * Temire blinks at Lisl, "Why not? She is a grandmother. Certainly she treats me better than my own grandparents do. Besides, I don't think you really want me calling you Sister Lisl do you?" <Sanriel> ::blinks and looks slightly confused:: Worms? Oh no, I took some jerky and dried fruit with me <Temire> Medium rare Rhys. <Tarri> ::glances at Nach:: Lady Nacheyla? * Sabrina smiles and pushes the plate closer to Tarri "please do" <Nacheyla> Oh steak? Can I have some too? <Sanriel> ::smiles at Tarri with a slight blush:: Well maybe you'll find something else you'd like to do... it seems like there are a lot more possibilities in a place like this. * Rhys starts to head back into the kitchen turns around, and comes back out. "How would you like it, Nacheyla? Anyone else want some venison?" <Lisl> ::coughs, pounding her chest:: Well... *technically* she's a grandmother, yes. But last I checked, I hadn't adopted you. <Tarri> ::carefully tries a bite of Sabrina's fish:: Oh, that's wonderful! ::she looks around at Rhys:: This is wonderful, Master Altain! <Nacheyla> Very very rare! ::turns back to Tarri:: Yes? * Temire nods in agreement. "If you want I can show you around town sometime and all the various things I thought about doing before Yohko-sensei took me in." <Tarri> I just was wondering... You said you had to go home. * Sabrina nods and takes a few more bites <Tarri> ::flushes:: Well, it would be rude of me to leave my post with the Bluestars so quickly, anyway. And I don't... ::she looks down at her lap, flustered:: * Temire smiles at Lisl, "Of course you haven't Aunt Lisl. I didn't think you'd be so literal about this." <Sanriel> It's okay, Tarri. There's still a lot to get used to here, too. <Tarri> ::smiles at San gratefully:: I... Yes. <Nacheyla> ::nods:: I... don't like it when people start acting closed minded... there are more things in the world for a woman to do aside from get married. <Lisl> ::scowls at Temire:: No woman likes to be reminded of her age. ::shoots a glace at Nach, and grins:: Some of them even cheat. * Sanriel beams * Sabrina looks at Tarri and smiles softly at the girl * Rhys goes into the kitchen, and emerges several minutes later with three steaks on plates. Two of them are quite red and steaming, and the other looks like it has actually seen the inside of an oven. "Here you are, venison for all." He distributes forks and knives to the meat eaters, even those who look like they'd rather not use utensils. * Sanriel glances at Nacheyla and Lisl and hides a little smile <Nacheyla> Thank you! ::starts slicing her steak into small pieces:: * Sabrina offers the last bit of the fish to Tarri * Temire begins cutting her venison, "Oh come on Aunt Lisl. YOU'RE old enough to be my grandmother. Probably my grandmother's grandmother even." <Lisl> ::grins and picks up a napkin from a pile on the bar, carefully tucking it into the front of her shirt and grinning at Rhys before wielding knife and fork on the steak with the skill of a surgeon. <Tarri> ::to Nach:: Well there's *more*, I just didn't want to *do* any of it. And I'm not... I couldn't be a hero, like you... ::she smiles tentatively:: * Tarri starts to refuse Sabrina's fish, then an audible growl from her midsection reminds her she hasn't eaten since lunch, and she gratefully accepts the few bites. <Lisl> ::to the air somewhere above her head:: Did I not just say that women don't like to be reminded of their age? I can't *wait* until this one starts having kids. <Sanriel> ::grins at Nacheyla:: I guess there's a lot Val didn't tell me, Lady du'Rosten. <Nacheyla> Hero? ::grins:: Thanks... * Sabrina smiles at Tarri and then turns to Sanriel "Thank you so much for the fish. It was wonderful. Thank you to Rhys" <Rhys> You're welcome, Sabrina. More water? * Temire smiles at Lisl, "Unless you've got some cute guys hidden away some where it's not likely to happen soon." Looks around the room, "All of these have been taken." <Nacheyla> ::frowns:: I think Val's upset with me, to be honest. <Lisl> ::grins sidelong at Nach and has another bite of steak. * Sabrina nods to Rhys "Yes please" <Tarri> ::blinks at Nach:: He's... upset? With *you*? Why? <Sanriel> ::to Tarri:: Would you like something to eat? Since Master Altain seems to have a supply of venison back there... ::glances with a smile at Lisl:: <Lisl> ::points at San:: I didn't think *he* was taken. Tho' he's could be a little young for you, granted. <Lisl> And *you* caught the bouquet! * Rhys refills Sabrina's water. <Tarri> ::blushes and puts a hand over her stomach:: Oh, no, I couldn't possibly... <Glossaria> ::stubbornly:: She's *not* getting married before I am. That's merely a superstition. <Sanriel> ::blinks at Lisl:: Huh? * Sabrina grins at Tarri "You should eat something else if you are hungry. Trust me I have had experience in that area here " grins at Rhys * Temire looks between Sanriel, Sabrina and Tarri, "Doesn't look that way from where I'm sitting." <Nacheyla> It's a long story... <Sanriel> Master Altain? Could you get a bit of venison for Tarri, too? ::turns to Tarri and grins:: How do you like it? * Sanriel looks a bit confused by Lisl and Temire's banter * Nacheyla stuffs several pieces of venison into her mouth and chews them up, grinning contentedly. <Tarri> ::blushes darker:: No, I can't... ::she fishes in her sleeve for a tied handkerchief. Untied, it reveals a small handful of coppers:: I don't have enough. * Temire grins at Gloss, "You mean you're not trying to find someone for me to marry, just in case?" * Lisl takes another bite and then leans over to survey Sanriel, Sabrina, and Tarri from Temire's vantage, before frowning at her. "They're friends. Aren't they?" <Rhys> Of course. ::to Tarri:: How would you like your venison? * Sabrina shakes her head "He'll make you eat anyways" <Sanriel> ::grins:: I have a little too, Tarri. <Sanriel> since I'm being pushy, I'll buy it for you. <Tarri> ::looks like a deer caught in the searchlight, herself:: Oh, no. I couldn't... I can eat when I get back to the Bluestar's. <Glossaria> ::raising her eyebrow:: *I* had to find my own. And I did quite well, for being born yesterday. Well, almost. ::grinning:: * Rhys shrugs. "Eat now, eat later, whatever you like best. Would you like something to drink at least? Water?" * Sabrina smiles at Tarri understanding all too well how she feels <Sanriel> ::smiles at Tarri:: It's okay, really. At the very least you need to taste Master Altain's cooking. <Tarri> I... ::she glances at Rhys:: Yes, I'd like some water, please. * Temire shrugs, "Then I guess you better hope it is just a superstition." <Lisl> ::raising her eyebrows:: My venison's going to be fresher than anything Bluestar can get, believe me. Try some. Unless you're a vegetarian? * Rhys pours Tarri a mug of water. "Here you are." * Nacheyla smiles at Tarri... "You should let Rhys cook for you... he likes to feed people..." <Tarri> Thank you. ::she takes the water and drinks thirstily:: <Glossaria> ::stubbornly:: It *is* a superstition. Why do you need someone else to matchmake for you? I thought that had gone out of fashion a generation ago. At least...::sipping her Tea:: ... except in some regions of Kara Tur. * Temire works on her venison then grins at Nach, "Nach, think we should ask for ice cream sundaes when we're done with this." <Nacheyla> Ice Cream? ::bounces in her chair:: I love ice cream. And so does Auntie Lisl. <Lisl> ::gives Nach a dirty look:: Not you, too. <Tarri> ::wilts under the scrutiny, then looks distinctly relieved as attention turns away toward the ice cream discussion:: * Temire smiles at Glossaria, "I was joking Gloss. I'm not in a hurry to get married. Besides, any one who would marry me on short notice would expect me to stay home, clean the house, cook the meals, wash the laundry. And that would be if I was lucky." * Sabrina sips her water <Nacheyla> ::grinning at Lisl:: Well, you *could* be my mom, if you wanted to... <Sanriel> ::blushes slightly and says quietly to Tarri:: Sorry, I'll stop... <Sanriel> What's ice cream? <Nacheyla> Oh! ::turns to Sanriel:: You haven't ever had any? We'll have to fix that! ::drops a gold coin on the table:: When I'm done with my dinner, could you bring us all some ice-cream, Rhys? <Tarri> ::touches San's arm briefly:: It's... I appreciate your concern. ::she smiles a little:: I have no idea. Ice... and cream? * Temire smiles at Sanriel, "I'll bet NO ONE has introduced either of you" Looks at Tarri, "To ice cream. It's one of the greatest things in the world. And as far as I know you can only get it here." <Rhys> Flavors? <Glossaria> ::looking thoughtful:: You could marry a pirate. There was that nice large man about a year ago... I wonder what came of him? He was sweet. <Temire> Vanilla with hot fudge. <Tarri> ::to Temire:: I've never heard of ice cream, no. <Sanriel> ::shakes his head, grinning:: Never heard of it before. But you're certainly making is sound very good! * Temire looks at Tarri, Sanriel and then Nach, "Sound like a good choice already Nach?" <Nacheyla> ::nods, bouncing again:: With cherries and nuts and whipped cream! <Lisl> ::looking scandalized at Nach:: I was barely out of my boy-cooties stage at that age! Your MOTHER? I don't think so! * Sanriel laughs and grins at Nacheyla * Glossaria sips her Tea. <Temire> Aunt Lisl it is then. ::grins at Lisl:: <Sanriel> Boy cooties? <Tarri> ::looks at Nach curiously:: L..ady Nacheyla? Why *are* you... a child? * Rhys watches Nacheyla bounce. "I'm not sure if you need any more sugar, young lady." <Lisl> ::scowls:: Aerdrie give me strength. <Nacheyla> ::turning to Tarri:: Because I *want* to be one. <Rhys> Lisl? Preferred flavor of ice cream and toppings? <Tarri> ::blinks, surprised, then smiles:: That must be nice. <Lisl> ::dryly:: Her physical form has reverted to her mental age. * Temire waves her hand at Rhys, "Let her have it, sooner or later she'll go back to being older and prettier than I am and won't be nearly as much fun." * Sanriel chokes on his sip of beer <Tarri> ::Lisl's comment startles a laugh out of Tarri:: <Sabrina> ::smiles:: she's lots of fun when she is young <Nacheyla> :;sticks her tongue out at Lisl again:: * Temire has some more venison. * Sanriel coughs and laughs, his hand over his mouth. * Nacheyla stuffs some more venison into her mouth. <Lisl> ::blinking:: Ice cream? Ummm.... ::blushing a little and saying in a small voice:: Doublefudgechocolateandblackcherrywithwhippedcream, please:: * Nacheyla grins. "Thee? I..." finishes chewing. "Sorry... see I told you she likes ice cream!" * Sanriel thumps on his chest a few times and coughs some more, then straightens up and takes a few deep breaths, smiling again. * Sabrina laughs softly * Lisl takes a huge bite of venison to keep from having to talk. <Tarri> ::looks at San, amused:: Are you all right, Master Tailorson? * Rhys heads into the kitchen, bangs and clatters about for a bit, and comes out with four ice cream sundaes. Tarri gets a duplicate of Nacheyla's sundae. "And... there. Spoons all about." <Sanriel> What was that, Lady Ferinsdottir? You spoke pretty fast.. * Glossaria sits absorbed in a small book she's pulled out of a pocket. <Sanriel> ::nods to Tarri:: I'm okay, just laughed while I was trying to drink, there. ::grins:: * Nacheyla takes the last few bites of her steak, then rinses her mouth out with milk. <Nacheyla> I scream, you scream we all scream for ice cream! ::takes a huge spoonful of fudge and whipped cream:: * Sabrina sips her water * Lisl gives San a dark look and finishes her venison quickly, wolfing it down. * Temire finishes off her venison and sighs contented. "Think I could get a glass of milk before I partake of this divine glory." Eyes her sundae. <Rhys> ::Sanriel also gets a duplicate of Nacheyla's sundae:: * Tarri looks about to protest the ice cream, but is overcome with curiosity. She picks up the spoon and cautiously tries a bite. "Oh! Oh, it's *cold*!" She laughs. * Sanriel grins at Lisl. * Rhys gets a pint glass of cold milk for Temire. <Rhys> Anyone else want some milk? * Sabrina finishes off her water and pushes her glass away <Sanriel> Cold? ::holds the dish up close to his face, accidentally getting a small dollop of whipped cream on his nose:: It is! ::eyes wide:: <Temire> Thank you Rhys. ::Washes the taste of venison from her mouth with the milk, then digs into her sundae...with a little less enthusiasm than Nach.:: * Lisl picks up her spoon and attacks the sundae, getting a whipped-cream moustache. * Sanriel takes a small bite and smiles around at everyone. * Nacheyla licks her spoon, managing to get chocolate sauce all over her mouth and nose:: <Sanriel> It *is* good! * Sabrina smiles wiping Sanriel's nose lightly wither her finger and popping the whipped cream into her mouth "mmm" <Tarri> ::takes another bite:: And sweet! ::she grins:: This is wonderful! * Sanriel blushes and nods quickly in agreement, taking a larger bite and closing his eyes in enjoyment <Lisl> ::grins:: And horribly addictive. ::taking another large spoonful:: * Temire smiles at Tarri, "Still think all there's left to you in life is getting married or becoming a governess?" <Tarri> ::looks up and offers her spoon to Sabrina:: Do you want some? I ate some of your fish - it's only fair. * Sabrina smiles and nods taking a bite of Tarri's ice cream and giving her the spoon back "Very good" * Nacheyla snarfs her ice cream, managing to get most of it in her mouth instead of all over her face and hands. * Temire manages to eat her ice cream without making a mess. * Sanriel observes at Nacheyla's speed with more that a little surprise * Nacheyla stops suddenly with about half an inch of melted ice-cream and sauce in the bottom of her bowl. "Ow!" She puts her hand to her head. <Tarri> ::blinks at Temire:: Ice cream makes a difference? ::she sighs softly and looks away a moment, then looks back at Temire:: I know there are women who do differently. It seems you are one of them. But I couldn't bear... being alone. ::she flushes a little:: I'm just an ordinary girl, really. * Rhys brings out water in a bowl and a towel, and places them near Nacheyla. * Temire looks at Nach and giggles, "You better wash your face or change forms or else I'm going to get yelled at for letting you make a mess of yourself." * Lisl finishes the bowlful, picking it up and extending her tongue before putting it back down quickly with a flush of embarrassment. "Sorry, Rhys. Carried away." * Tarri continues to eat ice cream, occasionally offering the spoon back to Sabrina. <Sanriel> Lady du'Rosten? Are you okay? <Glossaria> ::looks at Nach:: Cold headache? <Rhys> It's okay, Lisl. I could get you seconds if you wanted. * Sabrina takes bites as she is offered them sitting quiet and listening to the conversations <Nacheyla> ::nods to Gloss:: Give me a minute... <Lisl> ::looks hungrily longing, but shakes her head:: <Sanriel> ::smiles at Tarri:: I don't think there's anything wrong with ordinary. <Sanriel> ::nudges Lisl:: Go ahead... ::grins:: * Nacheyla washes her face, a little less than enthusiastically. * Glossaria slides off her stool and trots over to Nacheyla, picking up the glass of ice water on the counter and pressing it to the inside of Nach's wrist. <Tarri> ::blushes and smiles at San:: Thank you. <Nacheyla> That's the only thing I hate about being a child... everyone wants me to be clean all the time... being dirty is at least half the fun! <Glossaria> Hold it there a moment, and it will go away. :;smiling brightly:: Master Marten taught me. <Tarri> ::looks up at Glossaria curiously:: Mater Marten? Is he a healer? <Sanriel> ::laughs:: I remember when I was younger being scolded to clean up a lot. I was pretty good at hiding, though. <Lisl> ::glares at Sanriel:: I'm practicing self-control. cent fellow. I hate to die. * Temire smiles at Tarri, "Don't get me wrong, I don't plan on spending my life alone. But I do intend to wait till I've found someone I want to share it with. Ask Lisl. Her parents were adventures together. And Mistress Tyl and Jelarthna found each other. Just because you're not pursuing a woman role doesn't mean you can't find someone. And from what I've seen the ones who don't follow a woman's role are usually the ones who wind up happiest." <Sanriel> ::to Lisl:: Why? It's *good*! <Glossaria> Master Marten? No... well... not exactly. * Sanriel finishes off his ice cream and lets out a deep sigh of contentment. <Glossaria> He does know some healing techniques, though. <Lisl> ::primly:: I'm fighting the addiction. * Sabrina grins at Sanriel "Good?" <Sanriel> ::looks thoughtful:: Well.. I admit I haven't really seen a whole lot, but I know almost everyone at home was happy. ::smiles slightly:: Mom and dad have always loved each other a lot. <Sanriel> ::grins at Sabrina:: Very good! * Temire finishes off her ice cream and pushes it away contentedly. "Now that's something I missed." <Tarri> ::to Temire:: I... I'm sure it can be done. I'm just not certain *I* can do it. ::she half-smiles:: <Glossaria> ::frowning at Temire:: While those are excellent examples, Temire, you're working from an awfully small data pool... isn't that a bit of an over-generalization? * Rhys cleans up empty ice cream bowls. <Tarri> Besides, I don't know what else I could *do*. <Lisl> Thank you, Rhys. And thank you, Nach. ::grinning and mussing her hair again:: * Nacheyla smiles at Temire... "Thank, Mira, ice cream was a lovely idea..." <Sanriel> Yes, thank you very much, Lady du'Rosten! <Tarri> ::finishes her ice cream:: Thank you. It was wonderful. <Sabrina> Rhys could I get one last glass of water please? * Temire shrugs, "I'm not a god, so I can't know everything. And life's too short to spend it sitting around watching others enjoy it. I intend to enjoy my life as much as possible, and that means going out and doing things, not sitting around trying to collect data so I can answer life's questions." <Rhys> Of course. ::gets Sabrina another glass of water:: * Lisl smiles and takes a swallow of 'kick. <Nacheyla> You're welcome... gold is for spending. ::grins:: <Sabrina> Thanks you ::smiles to him:: * Glossaria frowns at Temire. * Temire looks at Tarri, "What do you want to do?" <Sanriel> ::laughs:: Not something I normally see, so I'll take your word for it. * Temire smiles at Nach, "You're welcome Nachan. I'm just glad I found an excuse rather than looking like a pig in front of everyone." <Lisl> ::grins:: So instead, we oinked in company? <Nacheyla> Nope, that would be me ::pushes her nose up with one finger:: Whoink Whoink! <Tarri> ::looks confusedly at Temire:: I want to be happy. I want to not be alone. I want... ::suddenly she almost looks exasperated:: What difference does it make what I *want*, if I can't have it? Isn't it better to decide what options I actually *have*, and pick from them? * Lisl shakes her head and laughs. <Sanriel> ::furrows his brow:: Well we're all pretty young, and at least a couple of us ::smiles at Tarri:: have only just gotten to the city. We still have a lot to learn about how things work here. And I still think being a nanny is a pretty important job. * Lisl taking another swallow of 'kick. "If nothing else, Tarri, it's good experience to help you decide if you want to be a mother or not." * Sabrina nods agreeing with Sanriel "You never know what options might pop up a year from now...or even five years" <Sanriel> And personally, I love that Glossaria can answer all of my questions. It makes it easy to know who to ask. ::smiles at Gloss:: <Tarri> ::smiles at San and then at Lisl:: I enjoy it. * Glossaria beams at Sanriel. "Experience is important, but if no one ever writes it down, the experience won't last past one person's life. * Sanriel smiles and takes a sip of his beer, then makes a face. <Sanriel> Gah.. ice cream and beer don't go together too well, do they? <Nacheyla> ::laughs:: * Sanriel blushes <Glossaria> ::cocking her head:: Well... of course, there IS oral tradition, but... <Tarri> ::giggles a little and offers San her mug of water:: <Lisl> ::chuckles and takes another swallow of 'kick. "Can't be the alcohol. Must be the flavor." <Sanriel> ::smiles gratefully to Tarri and takes a sip:: Thank you, Tarri. * Sanriel nods in agreement with Sabrina, Glossaria, and Lisl <Nacheyla> Maybe it's the bubbles... sugar makes beer foam more... <Sanriel> ::looks at his beer:: It does? <Lisl> ::grins at San:: We'll know if he starts to belch like a cow. <Nacheyla> ::blinks:: Cows belch? <Sanriel> ::blushes:: I hope I don't! <Lisl> Heh. You *do* need to get out in the country more, Nach. That's one of cows' three favorite pastimes. <Lisl> Belching, chewing cud, and leaving nasty things for the unwary to step in. <Nacheyla> I'll pass, thanks... ::makes a face:: * Sanriel laughs <Tarri> ::giggles a little at Lisl's comment:: It sounds like sheep! * Sanriel laughs again * Temire looks at Tarri, "I'm serious, let me know the next time you have some free time and I'll show you some of the things I thought about doing." <Lisl> ::grins wider:: Well, you could add a few things for sheep... ::looks around at the average apparent age level of the room:: ...but I won't. <Sanriel> ::looks puzzled:: Why not? The rest was pretty funny. <Tarri> ::looks at Temire for a long moment, then nods:: All right. I'm free on Mondays. <Sabrina> ::looks surprised and pulls a small book from her pocket offering it to Sanriel:: Meghan asked me to give this to you to keep until you can read it. I think she said it was a book about having visions ::she glances at the title:: yep that's what it's about <Temire> Where are you staying? <Tarri> At the Bluestar estate. <Temire> Okay, I'll swing by next week after breakfast and we can make a day of it. * Nacheyla pulls out a loop of string and starts doing a very complicated cats-cradle. <Sanriel> ::takes the book, looking a little surprised:: Meghan? Oh, Val's friend? ::smiles:: She could have left it when she came to see him next... thank you. I'll keep it safe until I can handle it. ::looks at the book curiously, then sets it on the table beside him:: <Tarri> ::smiles shyly:: Maybe just half a day? Monday is the only day I have to go to the Library and read... <Sabrina> I don't thinks she ::pauses and shrugs:: well I think she thought I might see you sooner than that * Temire smiles at Nacheyla, "That was one of the few toys my mother and I agreed upon. She said it would come in handy when she started teaching me to sew and knit." <Lisl> ::moves over to Nacheyla and watches interestedly. After a moment, she reaches out and picks out a pair of crossings, looping them over her fingers and under the rest of the pattern, holding out the result for Nach. * Sanriel looks at Temire and Tarri and sighs a little, taking a deep swallow of his beer. <Tarri> ::looks at San:: What's wrong? * Glossaria looks up from her book and smiles at Tarri. * Sanriel watches Nacheyla and Lisl's string-play with interest. * Nacheyla picks a few strands from Lisl's hand, pulling the cradle back to her own hands. * Lisl grins, shifting forward in her chair. Crossing her hands at the wrists, she reaches inside the pattern and reverses her hands, appearing to turn the whole thing inside-out. She holds it out to Nach. * Temire nods to Tarri, "I can understand that. My parents where shocked when they found out my brother had taught me to read. Probably would have kicked him out if it wasn't for the fact that they would have had to explain why." <Sanriel> Hmm, wrong? ::blushes slightly:: oh, no, nothing. I was just hoping you would be able to help me a little with the reading next week, but it sounds like you'll have some more interesting things to do. ::smiles:: * Nacheyla crosses her own wrists, turning the pattern right side out again, making a six pointed star <Sanriel> ohh, I haven't seen that one before... <Tarri> ::smiles to Temire:: Oh, I didn't have it *that* bad! Most everyone else thought I was a little strange for reading, but my mama taught me herself, so she didn't mind, as long as I did my chores! <Lisl> Very neat! ::studies the pattern for a moment, rubbing her chin:: <Sabrina> Sanriel I could help you if you'd like. Don't know how good I would be but I could try. IF you want that is <Sanriel> ::chuckles:: I'm wishing now we'd had someone to teach me how, too... Who would have thought I'd need it, though? <Glossaria> ::looking up again:: If you need a place to study, San, you two are welcome to meet in the Library. ::unaccountably, she blushes, and dives back into her book:: <Tarri> ::to San:: Oh, no, I said I'd help you! You could come maybe in an evening? Once Corri goes down for the night, I'm really not very busy. If you don't mind an occasional interruption...? * Temire shakes her head, "Since I met Yohko-sensei I've discovered that my parents had a lot of strange ideas." Temire sighs, "It's taking a while to get over some of them." * Nacheyla looks envious. "The elf-baby sleeps through the night? Wow... wish I could have managed that..." * Sabrina shrugs and shakes her head "Well never mind. It seems you have enough help" smiles a bit * Lisl reaches out and takes opposite corners of the pattern, using her pinkies to hook four of the six corners. She pulls, and the pattern becomes an intricate suspension bridge in her hands. <Sanriel> ::grins at Sabrina:: That would be nice.. despite what Glossaria says, I feel like I need all the help I can get. <Tarri> ::she smiles at Nach:: No, not *through* the night. But he's usually down for several hours in the early evening and doesn't fuss again until close to midnight. I'm sure Master Tailorson would be gone again by then. ::she blushes again:: <Nacheyla> ::grins, pulling a few more strings, making a small keep with a tower at either end:: <Sanriel> ::to Tarri:: Oh really? That would be great. If it's okay with Master and Lady Bluestar, of course. When do you put Corri to bed? <Lisl> ::muttering under her breath as she studies the new pattern:: He'd better be... * Sabrina nods to Sanriel "If you want. I'd be more than happy to try and help" <Lisl> Ack. You're cheating somehow, I *know* you are. How do you cheat at cat's cradle? <Sanriel> ::blushes furiously:: Of course I would! <Nacheyla> I am *not* ::indignantly:: * Sanriel stifles a giggle <Tarri> ::glances at Sabrina:: I.. I'd invite you, too, but I don't know if I can. Lady Bluestar already knows Master Tailorson, but... ::she smiles a little helplessly:: I'll ask. * Temire looks at the cat's cradle and shakes her head, "If anyone could cheat at cat's cradle it would be Nachan...and if anyone would be upset at losing it would be Lisl." <Nacheyla> ::looks extremely offended:: I'm not cheating! <Lisl> Hmmm. ::studies the pattern intently, squeezing her fingers inside of the towers and pulling them out by spreading her fingers wide, making a snowflake pattern:: <Tarri> ::to San:: After dinner, usually. He goes to sleep usually between seven and eight. <Nacheyla> Oh, that's a nice one... ::studies it for a moment:: * Sabrina grins at Tarri "I don't know hoe much we would actually get done all three of us together. but as long as it is ok with Lady Bluestar I'd love to come along" <Lisl> Usually took me about twelve passes to get to this one, though. <Tarri> ::smiles at Sabrina:: I will ask. * Glossaria opens her mouth, and closes it again, subsiding into her book. <Nacheyla> Let's see... ::pulls a few strands, then juts her chin forward, biting one string, and pulls back, making a ship with a sail, the tip of the mast caught in her teeth. * Sabrina glances over at Gloss "Glossaria?" <Sanriel> ::smiles:: I'll look forward to it. <Glossaria> ::looks up from her book again:: Mm? * Glossaria takes another swallow of Tea. <Sabrina> I was just wondering what you were reading. It seems that you find it very interesting <Sanriel> ::grins at Tarri:: And you can call me just Sanriel. <Tarri> Oh! ::she smiles shyly:: Thank you, Sanriel. <Glossaria> Hm? Oh. ::looks at the spine:: Ragnak Deathlord's On The Soul. <Sanriel> ::blinks:: that actually sounds a little scary, Glossaria... <Lisl> Oh, *very* nice. ::frowning:: I need more hands. ::licks her lips and kicks off her boot, inserting her big toe up under the keel of the "ship" with the slow care of a contortionist before picking up the rest of the pattern with her hands. The cat's cradle changes into a canopied merry-go-round. * Sabrina nods "oh" * Sanriel looks at Lisl's antics with surprise, mouth slightly open <Nacheyla> Oh, that's very good... ::looks at the pattern:: I think I'm stuck... * Tarri looks at Lisl's cats-cradle with surprise, then laughs and applauds. <Sanriel> ::looks at everyone else:: Remind me never to play with either of them...? * Sabrina laughs softly <Glossaria> ::looks at the cover again:: Well, he's a lich. It's a *very* interesting viewpoint. <Nacheyla> Oh... hang on... ::grabs a few strands, then twists her hands, pulling it into a long sword with an intricate hilt:: <Sanriel> A.. Lich? ::shakes his head:: Is that like a Lord? <Lisl> Hm. ::pointing with her nose:: If you go THERE and... THERE... you can... ah! there we go. <Nacheyla> ::looks over at Gloss:: You're reading a book by a LICH?? <Tarri> ::glances back at Gloss:: He's a.... a what? <Glossaria> No, not precisely. It's like an undead mage. <Glossaria> ::looking up at Nach:: Yes, why not? <Sanriel> ::blinks and looks a bit uncomfortable:: un..undead? Mage? <Tarri> ::whispers:: Undead? And you're *reading*...? ::she shivers:: Glossaria, I don't think I want to read that book. Would you try to remember not to give it to me? * Sanriel nods quickly in agreement <Nacheyla> I don't like Liches ::glowers briefly:: <Glossaria> ::blinking:: Certainly. Tho' honestly, though the author is rather terrifying, the book itself isn't. He's quite a philosopher. After all, he's had over 500 years to work on it. <Sanriel> some of the guys had stories about... *things*... that snuck into the town once, that they couldn't hurt without magic. Thankfully a very long time ago... <Tarri> ::blinks and shakes her head at Gloss's matter-of-fact commentary:: I just... No, I don't think I'd like that book. * Sabrina stands from her seat <Sabrina> Well I think I need to be getting home. <Sanriel> Do you have lots of books like that...? In your library? * Nacheyla clenches her fist, somewhat disturbed. <Glossaria> ::shakes her head:: I don't like liches either, Mistress Nacheyla. But it's important to be aware of their viewpoint on certain matters. Leaving aside the propaganda, he raises some very interesting points which the priests of Good would do well to answer. <Nacheyla> ::looks down at the tangle of string:: Oh, I'm sorry, Lisl... I botched our game. <Sanriel> ::looks up at Sabrina and smiles:: Already? <Rhys> Last call, everyone. <Lisl> ::shakes her head, waving a hand:: It's alright. ::grinning:: That was my last trick, anyway. <Sanriel> ::grins:: ah, guess so... <Glossaria> Good night, Sabrina. It was nice to have met you. * Sabrina smiles and nods "I'm a bit sleepy and I know Meghan is probably waiting up for me <Sabrina> " <Sanriel> You both seemed to have plenty of tricks with that little piece of string! <Tarri> ::looks curiously at Gloss:: Aren't.. Aren't you a priestess of good? ::she blushes:: I mean, I'd never heard of Er-dun before we got your Mistress' letter, but... <Sabrina> Good night Glossaria, very nice to meet you to <Glossaria> ::to Tarri:: There are some works like this in the library, yes. But I assure you, I've made sure we have a very balanced collection. <Sanriel> Good night, Sabrina. It was nice to see you again. Glad you liked the fish! <Tarri> ::smiles at Sabrina:: It was nice to meet you. I hope to see you again soon. <Glossaria> ::correcting offhandedly:: Erdian. And yes, I will be. I'm an apprentice now. <Glossaria> ::smiling brightly:: Which is why it's important for me to read works of this nature. <Sabrina> ::smiles at Tarri:: It was nice to meet you to. I hope we get another chance to talk soon <Tarri> ::repeats:: Er-dian. I'm sorry. But then maybe *you* could answer these... these questions? <Nacheyla> Well ::looks dubious:: I guess, maybe... I guess I don't like thinking of them making converts through the printed page. * Nacheyla pulls out a few coins and drops them on the table. <Sanriel> ::shakes his head a little, then goes to the bar and smiles at Rhys:: How much do I owe you, Master Altain? <Rhys> Nothing, Sanriel. If you see Jelarthna, tell him thank you. <Sanriel> ::looks confused:: Pardon? <Tarri> ::glances over at San, then fishes her handkerchief out of her sleeve again, a little reluctantly:: Yes. The... the ice cream? ::she counts out a few coppers and looks up at him hopefully:: <Glossaria> ::looking at Nach and responding firmly:: They won't. Not if I write a proper apologia. <Rhys> Same goes for you, Tarri. Jelarthna's credit here has to get whittled away somehow. I know he won't mind. <Lisl> ::laughing:: Rhys, you're sneaky. <Nacheyla> ::waves a hand at Tarri:: I'll cover it... I like ice-cream. <Nacheyla> ANd it's more fun to share... <Sanriel> ::still a trifle confused:: Okay... I won't complain. ::smiles:: <Tarri> But.. But I don't even *know* Lord Jelarthna... ::looks at Nach almost gratefully:: If... If you're sure, Lady Nacheyla...? <Sabrina> Nach, Temire are you walking back to the house? <Sanriel> True.. sharing is always more fun! ::laughs happily:: <Sanriel> I think he's Lady Nightstorm's fiancee.. that's what Val told me. <Sanriel> So he's probably pretty nice, too. ::smiles:: <Tarri> ::nods:: Her husband, now. ::she giggles:: I worked last Monday so Lord and Lady Bluestar could go to the wedding. But I've never met him. <Lisl> Jel? Don't worry about him, Tarri. If I'm any judge, he'll be in an even more generous mood now than he was *before* the wedding! <Sanriel> Oh! They're married now? <Sanriel> ::smiles at Tarri:: That was nice of you. <Nacheyla> ::nods:: You're coming home too? We can all walk together... ::pulls out her jump rope, standing up:: <Tarri> ::smiles:: Well, of *course* Lady Bluestar had to go - it was her sister! And they gave me a little time later in the week to go and... ::she glances at Gloss and blushes a little:: To go and pay my respects to Lady Natovna. * Lisl finishing her 'kick and dropping a few silvers on the bar. "For the venison, Rhys." <Sanriel> Would you like me to walk you home, Tarri? Most everyone else seems to be heading out together. * Sabrina nods to Nach "I would like that <Sabrina> " <Rhys> ::blinks:: It's your venison, Lisl. <Sanriel> ::grins:: Then that was nice of them, too. <Tarri> ::smiles at San:: That would be very nice of you. We should walk Glossaria home, too, though - we came in together." <Lisl> ::grins:: Yes, but you cooked it. <Sanriel> Oh, sure! ::smiles at Glossaria:: If you'd like? <Glossaria> ::making shooing motions:: Oh, that's alright, you walk her home. I know my way alright. * Rhys shrugs and scoops Lisl's silver into the lockbox. "If it makes you happy." <Tarri> Oh, but Glossaria, it's *dangerous* to walk alone after dark! It's not so far! <Lisl> It makes me happy. <Sanriel> ::smiles and nods:: I don't mind at all.. in fact, I rather enjoy walking when it's darker out! <Glossaria> It's just through the city, and I have my wards. Don't worry about me. ::standing and taking Lisl's elbow:: If you're worried, I can ask Mistress Lisl to walk me. It would be out of your way, after all. <Tarri> Oh, but... ::she looks at Lisl:: If... if that's all right with you. I wouldn't want to leave her to walk alone! * Nacheyla skips rope in place. "Oh say my playmate/come out and play with me/and bring your dollies three/climb up my apple tree/slide down my rainbow/Into my cellar door/and we'll be jolly friends forevermore/one two three four!" * Lisl looks rather surprised as she looks down at Gloss, but shrugs and nods. "I was headed that way anyway." She grins. "Tho' even *I'd* hesitate to attack this one. I've seen those wards in action." * Sabrina smiles at Nach and motions her towards the door waving to everyone as she walks out. * Nacheyla takes Temire's hand and pulls her out the door. <Nacheyla> Come on Mira! * Temire rises and walks out the door with Nach. <Sanriel> ::grins and appraises Glossaria:: Really? I can't imagine anyone wanting to bother someone so nice. * Nacheyla leaves the hall, swinging her rope in one hand. <Tarri> ::smiles shyly at Lisl:: But rogues are hesitant to even try to attack those in numbers, I know. I'd feel terrible if she were forced to defend herself. <Glossaria> Oh, well, I had assassins-- well, that's for another time. You go on, I'll be fine with Mistress Lisl. <Sanriel> ::grinning:: I would feel sorry for anyone that tried to attack Lady Ferinsdottir. <Lisl> ::raising an eyebrow at Tarri:: If you'd rather have a larger escort, Tarri, we can walk with you. <Tarri> ::nods:: All right. ::she smiles at San:: I guess we can go, then. * Glossaria gives the oblivious Lisl a quick glare. <Sanriel> Okay! Good night, Lady Ferinsdottir, Lady Anobium. ::grins and opens the door for the ladies:: <Tarri> ::looks at Lisl:: Oh, I'm sure I'll be save with M- Sanriel! I just wanted to be sure Glossaria got home safely! <Sanriel> Oh, and good night, Master Altain! It was nice to meet you! <Glossaria> Good night, San, good night, Tarri! <Rhys> Good night, Sanriel. And call me Rhys. <Lisl> ::chuckles and gets up, putting on her cloak:: Alright, so what was that all about? <Sanriel> Okay, Rhys! <Tarri> ::waves at Rhys:: Good night! ::smiles at Gloss:: I'll see you next week! * Glossaria waves a hand at Lisl. "Never mind. Ready to go? You don't mind walking me, do you?" <Tarri> ::peers nervously out the door, then steps past Sanriel into the street.:: * Sanriel escorts Tarri outside and pats her shoulder comfortingly <Lisl> ::shakes her head:: As I said, I *am* going that way. Shall we, Lady Librarian? ::offering a rather ridiculous curtsey-- in leggings-- along with her arm:: <Glossaria> ::laughs and puts her hand on Lisl's elbow, leaving the Hall with her. <Lisl> G'night, Rhys! <Rhys> Night! * Rhys follows the gaggle to the door, and after they leave, closes and locks it. |
