* Tarri re-reads the note, then nods. She closes it with a plain seal, then calls one of the other servants and asks them to deliver it. As the servant leaves the Bluestar home, Tarri realizes that her hands are suddenly shaking. She occupies herself with fussing over straightening her room. <Tarri> ::The note is delivered to the Tower, addressed to Glossaria. It reads, "Lady Anobium, I understand Lady Natovna has returned from her journey. Since my father instructed me in the strongest terms to pay my respects to your Mistress as soon as possible, I should undertake to call upon the Tower of Erdian. I beg your assistance, as I find the Tower somewhat daunting. --T. Mandeil" * Glossaria goes to the door at the messenger's knock, and unfolds the letter to read it on the doorstep. "Mm. A neat hand, if a trifle stiff." She squints a little at the parchment. "Poor thing, she must be horribly nervous." * Glossaria looks up at the messenger. "I'll accompany you back. Please, wait just a moment while I fetch my cloak." * Vallel wanders up carrying a wicker creel tucked under one arm, his fishing pole over his arm. * Glossaria comes back to the door, in the act of settling her cloak around her shoulders. "Oh-- Vallel! Hello, love! I was just on my way out for a moment. Would you like to escort me?" She gives him a winning smile. <Vallel> Hey Gloss... I brought you some dinner... ::hands her the creel:: <Glossaria> Oh! You and San went fishing again? ::peering into the bucket:: Oh, my! So many! I hope Mistress Zoya likes fish, too... or... perhaps the four of us could have dinner, that would be nice! <Glossaria> Um... ::giving the messenger an apologetic smile:: I'll just... let me give these to the Kitchen. Just a moment, please... * Vallel absently hands her his fishing pole. <Vallel> Where are we going? <Glossaria> ::sets the fishing pole inside the door, in the umbrella rack, and delivers the creel to the Kitchen, returning quickly:: Mistress Mandeil's. She wants... I think the term is "moral support" for her formal call on Mistress Zoya. <Glossaria> ::looking at Vallel a little anxiously:: You don't mind coming along, do you? <Vallel> Moral support? ::blank look:: What for? <Glossaria> Well... ::hands the note she received to Vallel:: There are quite a few emendations-- if you look closely, you can see the scrapings. I think she's quite nervous about meeting Mistress Zoya, though I can't quite see why. ::frowning a little:: I think magic makes her a little uncomfortable. <Vallel> Oh... yeah, I forgot about that... ::looks slightly embarrassed:: I guess I'm just used to everything... <Glossaria> ::smiles and kisses him lightly:: Are you saying, sir, that you're turning into a city boy? <Vallel> Well... ::grins:: Anywhere you are is where I belong. <Glossaria> ::wrinkles her nose:: Flatterer! You're sweet. ::kisses him again, and then blushes a little as she realizes the waiting messenger is staring at them:: Um... perhaps we should get started, then? <Vallel> Sure... <Vallel> ::offers her his arm:: She's at Master Bluestar's house, isn't she? <Glossaria> ::nods:: Yes. ::takes Val's arm and starts off behind the grinning messenger:: * Glossaria walks with Vallel, following the messenger to a house in the city that is not quite as large as Tyl'gainia's mansion but well-appointed. <Glossaria> ::The pair follow the messenger into the foyer, and wait there for Tarri.:: <Vallel> ::looks at the house:: I always forget how much I hate this style of architecture... <Glossaria> ::cocks her head:: Really? For what reason? ::looking around:: It was quite popular at the end of the previous century. <Vallel> It's gaudy... I mean, look at all this excessive trim... <Glossaria> ::looking around:: Is it excessive? It seems to be a standard example of the style... <Glossaria> Or-- oh! You mean, in comparison to other buildings. <Vallel> Yeah... I like nice straight lines... none of this curlicue stuff around the door... I mean, honestly... * Tarri dashes out into the foyer only moments after the messenger leaves them. "Glossaria! Thank you so m-" She pulls short as she sees Vallel. "Oh! Hello, Val..." <Glossaria> I'm sorry, Vallel had just come to visit when I got your note, and I didn't think you would mind... <Tarri> ::recovers:: Oh! Oh, no, that's fine. I just wasn't... ::she sighs:: Oh, Glossaria, I feel like such a *child*. I tried to go earlier today, I really did! But as soon as I saw the door, I... I couldn't go any further. <Vallel> ::laughs:: I know exactly how you feel... and some days it's on sidewise, which is even worse. <Glossaria> ::grinning:: Or upside-down. <Glossaria> ::soothingly:: It's alright. The Tower *is* bespelled to ward off casual thrillseekers. ::smiling a little:: It makes many people nervous. Lord Erdian was fond of his privacy, too. <Tarri> ::fidgets:: I'm not a thrillseeker, Glossaria! I really have to talk to Lady Natovna! <Glossaria> ::putting her head to one side, pensively:: Although I think the worst was when the Tower decided it preferred a subterranean entrance. It was lucky the gnomes were at home. <Tarri> ::listens to the recital of Tower perversities with wide eyes and shudders:: Oh.... *Please* help me! <Glossaria> Oh, no, I *know* you're not. But-- you have to be very *firm* with some spells. If it senses a wavering in your will, it will tend to try to frighten you away. ::shaking her head:: And it can *loom* so. <Glossaria> ::putting a hand on Tarri's arm:: It's alright, that's why we came. ::looks at Vallel:: Moral support! Right? Perhaps you'd like to stay for dinner? Vallel caught a fine kettle of fish! ::frowns, her lips moving as she repeats her last line to herself:: Um... I didn't intend to imply that he was in a difficult situation. I just meant the fish are very nice, and there are a lot of them. * Tarri laughs nervously. "Maybe... If I could just get inside!" <Glossaria> ::firmly:: Come on. I'll take you. I *live* there, and Vallel almost does! We'll get you in the door! ::taking Tarri's hand:: <Tarri> ::follows obediently behind Glossaria:: * Vallel tags along behind the women, looking back over his shoulder at Bluestar's house with a mild expression of disgust. * Glossaria backtracks her steps of a few minutes earlier, party in tow. * Tarri starts to drag her feet as the Tower comes into view. * Glossaria presses her lips together and keeps a firm grip on Tarri's hand. "It's not going to hurt you, really! Think of it like... like.... a fun-house at All Hallow's! It likes to scare strangers, but it's harmless. Well... ::forced by inherent honesty:: ...as long as *you* intend no harm, that is. <Tarri> ::shakes her head quickly:: Oh, no! I wouldn't try to... But... ::she looks uneasily up at the shifting shapes on the highest tower:: It's so... ::she shivers:: <Vallel> Silly... weird... has a weird sense of humor. <Tarri> ::glances at Val:: Sense of *humor*? <Vallel> Well... yeah... it moves things around, like the bathroom, especially when you really need to use it. <Tarri> ::eyes grow wider, and her voice acquires a quaver:: Oh, I don't know if I can *do* this... * Glossaria releases Tarri's hand, trusting to Vallel to keep her from bolting, and puts her hands on her hips, facing the Tower. She raises one hand and shakes her finger like a scolding parent. "Now, you STOP that! Tarri is an invited guest and you're scaring her!!" <Tarri> ::takes a step backwards...:: <Vallel> I'm not *trying* to... I think the tower is a lot of fun, personally. <Glossaria> ::looking over her shoulder:: I meant HIM, not you, love. ::pointing at the Tower:: <Vallel> Oh. <Tarri> ::blinks:: Him? It's... ::she takes another couple of quick backwards steps:: <Glossaria> ::as abruptly as someone flipping a light switch, the Tower suddenly looks far less threatening. The deep shadows disappear from its walls, and the "things" moving in the upper towers reveal themselves as nothing more than birds. If anything, the general air of the building now could best be described as... sheepish:: * Tarri looks at the Tower, then at Glossaria, then back at the Tower, then at Val, then back at the Tower... <Glossaria> ::nods firmly:: That's better. Honestly. Some people get *far* too in love with their work. <Glossaria> ::turns back to Tarri with a bright smile:: See? Nothing to be scared of. Ready to meet my Mistress? <Tarri> P- *People*? <Glossaria> Oh-- umm... ::it finally dawning on her that Tarri seems rather nervous with the concept of the Tower as a "he":: Figure of speech? * Tarri glances at the Tower again. "What if it doesn't... like me?" <Vallel> ::looks completely surprised:: Why wouldn't it? What's not to like? <Glossaria> ::smiles at Vallel:: <Tarri> ::laughs, slightly hysterically:: Oh! Val, you... ::she giggles again:: Thank you. <Glossaria> If it doesn't like you, I'd advise you to stay clear of the Kitchen. But *I* like you! <Tarri> ::she looks at Gloss:: Okay. I- I think... ::she takes a deep breath:: I have to go, anyway. <Glossaria> ::nods eagerly:: That's the spirit! ::taking Tarri's hand again, and tugging on it:: C'mon, I can't wait for you to meet Mistress Zoya! * Tarri stumbles forward, holding Gloss's hand like a lifeline. * Vallel wanders along behind them. * Glossaria smiles as the front door, square to the ground for once, swings open at their approach with a little squeaky fanfare like a mouse on trumpet. "See? I *told* you he'd like you!" <Tarri> ::giggles nervously:: * Glossaria hauls Tarri through the front door and up the stairs. "Mistress Zoya! Miss Mandeil is here!" * Vallel notices with a bit of a start that his fishing pole seems to have somehow sprouted roses. <Vallel> Not funny... ::pulls the roses off, then hands them to Gloss:: For you? <Zoya> ::voice echoes from nowhere:: I'm in the library, Glossaria! <Vallel> ::as soon as his back is turned, the pole sprouts new roses:: <Glossaria> ::smiling, blushing a little:: Why Master du'Nache... are you offering me roses? ::giving him a coy look:: <Tarri> ::starts at the disembodied voice and backs toward the door:: <Vallel> ::blinks a moment, looking confused:: Um, sure, why not? <Glossaria> ::smiles, accepting the roses and kissing him on the cheek:: Thank you. ::grinning:: I'll explain later, love. * Glossaria grabs Tarri's hand again, snagging her back from the door, and carries the roses with her as she leads the pair to the Library. * Tarri manages to look both terrified and resigned as Glossaria drags her toward the library. <Glossaria> ::babbling excitedly:: You'll love the Library! It's absolutely huge, and it smells so *wonderful* inside! * Tarri smiles weakly. "I'm sure it's very nice..." <Vallel> What do you suppose the kitchen is doing with my fish? <Glossaria> Well, it's been in a haute cuisine mood lately... I think it missed Mistress Zoya. So I expect great things. <Tarri> ::obviously trying to distract herself:: Do you.. do you fish much these days, Val? * Glossaria leads them down a flight of winding stairs, through a hallway that on one side seems to open into a garden courtyard (though the Tower didn't look THAT big from the outside) and up another flight of stairs. <Vallel> Fishing? Oh, yes, quite a bit... it's very relaxing. * Glossaria heads down another corridor, tugging Tarri along in her wake, turns a corner, and pauses at a HUGE and very impressive carved wooden door. * Tarri looks at the door, then grins somewhat nervously at Gloss. <Glossaria> ::looks at Tarri with a grin:: Ready? <Tarri> I... I hope so. <Glossaria> Okay. ::knocks on the door, and then pushes it open. At her light touch, the ponderous wood swings wide:: Mistress Zoya, may I present Miss Tarisa Mandeil, late of Khymrych? * Zoya is poring over an old tome, but looks up as the girls and Val enter. She nods at Glossaria's introduction. "Miss Mandeil." * Tarri curtseys. "Lady Natovna, I am glad to finally meet you." Her voice quavers slightly. * Glossaria stands by, grinning like an idiot. <Zoya> ::raises an eyebrow, looking amused:: Are you, indeed? * Vallel bows slightly in Zoya's direction. "It's good to see you back, Mistress Zoya... " * Tarri flushes as her eyes widen slightly. "I... That is..." <Zoya> ::smiles at Val:: I'm glad to be back, Vallel. It's nice to see you, too. <Zoya> ::looks at Tarri with a wry grin:: Relax, child, I don't bite. <Tarri> ::blushes deeper:: Oh, no, lady, of course... I mean... * Glossaria opens her mouth to say something and closes it just as quickly. * Zoya sighs slightly and points to the chair across the table from her. "Have a seat, Miss Mandeil." * Tarri glances at Glossaria quickly before gingerly taking the indicated seat. * Glossaria gives Tarri a reassuring look and a small shooing motion to the chair. * Zoya notices the interaction and grins at Glossaria. "Playing bodyguard, are we?" * Vallel reads the titles of some of the books, stopping to flip a particularly large, pink-bound book open and page through it. <Glossaria> ::grins:: I already had to scold the Tower for being mean. <Zoya> ::laughs:: Don't forget to re-set the wards, then. <Glossaria> I won't. Though to turn away an invited guest... * Tarri manages not to fidget nervously, but she obviously wants to. <Zoya> ::raises an eyebrow:: That persistent? Well, take a look at the set-spell. It may need refreshing. <Zoya> ::turns to Tarri:: Now. You wished to see me? <Glossaria> ::nods:: Yes, Mistress. * Glossaria wanders over to peer around Vallel's arm. <Tarri> Y-yes, lady. I wanted to thank you for... for bringing me to Marsember. <Zoya> ::nods:: You are welcome. How are you settling in with the Bluestars? <Tarri> I... Lady Bluestar is very kind. She is teaching me a little elven. <Glossaria> ::turning her head and grinning:: Well, you have to take care of one, after all... <Zoya> ::grins:: A very politic answer. I trust they are meeting your needs adequately? * Vallel says something in elvish that translates roughly as "And yes, I like roasted umbrellas in my salad." <Tarri> ::nods:: Oh yes, lady, very well. <Glossaria> ::peers at Vallel:: You like roasted umbrellas in your salad? But... love, I thought humans didn't eat wood? <Vallel> Oh... wrong word I guess... what's crouton again? <Zoya> ::nods again:: I'm glad to hear it. Are you homesick yet? <Glossaria> Crouton? ::frowns:: One moment. ::disappears into the stacks, returning a moment later flipping through a thick book bound in green leather:: Ah. Here it is. No "crouton." But there is "bread crumb." ::hands Vallel the dictionary:: <Vallel> Oh... *aurialle* not *uarral* easy to make the mistake... <Glossaria> ::cocking her head, looking at Vallel:: Why? <Tarri> Oh, no, lady! That is, I... ::she flushes a little:: I miss my father, of course. But there... there wasn't much for me there, really. <Vallel> Well, they sound an awful lot alike, don't you think? <Zoya> ::raises an eyebrow at Tarri:: Ah, I see. Well. You'll let me know, I hope, if there is anything I can do to help you? <Tarri> ::nods a little nervously:: Of course, Lady Natovna. Gl- Lady Anobium has already been a great help to me... ::she looks over at Gloss and Val consulting, then looks down shyly:: I... I hope you don't mind if I... associate with her? And Vallel? <Zoya> ::looks surprised:: Why should I mind? <Vallel> ::looks over with a raised eyebrow:: <Glossaria> ::repeats the two words to herself:: They are similar in sound. But... ::pointing:: Aurialle comes from the root aure, bread. Now look here... the "ua" of uarral is the vestigial phonemic indicator of the letter "w", which fell out of use in Elvish two thousand years ago. * Glossaria looks up and blinks. "Did someone say my name?" <Glossaria> ::shaking her head:: So uarral comes from the ancient "waru", water. See? Completely different! <Vallel> If you say so, love. <Tarri> ::blushes again:: I... My da' told me not to bother Val or his lady. But we met by accident already a couple of weeks ago, and... ::she glances up at Zoya:: I don't... I don't want to go back. <Glossaria> Well... but... ::looking back at Vallel, faintly troubled:: That doesn't help you understand it better? <Vallel> I've never worried too much about the root words... although sometimes it's interesting... <Zoya> ::looks a little upset:: I'm not going to send you back, child. Not unless Cwalindia tells me you're not doing your job. Who you associate with-- as far as I'm concerned, anyhow-- is entirely none of my business. <Tarri> ::looks vastly relieved:: Thank you, lady. <Glossaria> ::excitedly:: Oh, but once you know the roots, it's so much easier! You can see the patterns, what words relate to which others, shadings of meaning... and it makes it easier to pick up a broader vocabulary quickly! <Zoya> ::frowns slightly:: Should I write your father, Tarisa? <Vallel> Do you think so? ::looks puzzled:: I always thought it was just something *else* to try and remember. <Tarri> ::starts:: Oh, no! I mean... Don't trouble yourself, lady. I... I'm to write him twice a month anyhow. I'll... ::she flushes:: I'll tell him myself. <Zoya> ::eyes her:: If you're certain. But if he starts ordering you around too much, let me know, all right? <Vallel> ::mutters something under his breath:: <Tarri> ::glances at Zoya, then looks away again:: I... All right, lady. Thank you. <Glossaria> Really? Oh, but look! ::holds up a finger:: Remember "waru" and that "ua" sound. ::flips to the back of the dictionary:: Now look at this. Here's uarral, umbrella... to *repel* water. And siluar, a glass-- a water-cup. And just plain ua-- ocean, water's home. See? All from knowing the root word! <Zoya> ::nods:: Good. Is there anything else I can do for you, then? * Tarri starts to shake her head, then slowly nods. "Lady, I..." She looks around at the book-filled room. "Would it be possible for me to come here sometimes? To... to read?" Her eyes are suddenly pleading. "I'll be very careful, I promise!" <Vallel> ::blinks:: But what about druandil, which means horse? * Zoya blinks and then nods. "You're welcome to come any time. But Glossaria is in charge of the library - you'll have to ask her about the rules." Zoya smiles. "Welcome to Marsember, Tarisa." <Tarri> ::smiles tentatively:: I.. Thank you, lady. * Tarri gets up, curtseys again, and then runs over to where Glossaria and Vallel are talking. <Glossaria> ::blinks a moment:: That one gets a little more complicated. Elven legend states that horses were first created from the foam of the waves by the god of the sea elves. So druandil actually breaks down into "swift water-spume animal." <Vallel> You're joking... * Zoya watches Tarri go, shaking her head and smiling, before turning back to her own book. <Glossaria> ::shaking her head:: No, really. I can show you the tale, if you like. It's very romantic. <Glossaria> ::blinking and smiling as Tarri approaches:: I'm sorry I sort of deserted you, there. Did it go well? Isn't Mistress Zoya NICE? * Tarri catches up with Gloss and Val, a little breathless. "She said I could come and read!" <Glossaria> ::smiles:: Wonderful! ::shaking her finger mock-sternly:: Food and drink must be kept out of the stacks, remember. * Vallel grins and mutters something under his breath. <Tarri> ::smiles at Gloss:: She was a little scary, but she seemed nice. <Glossaria> ::waves a hand:: Scary is in the eye of the beholder. And actually, to a beholder, she'd be pretty scary! ::grins:: <Tarri> ::nods:: I promise. ::she looks around excitedly:: I don't even know where to *start*? How am I ever going to last until Mondays??!? <Vallel> Great... another avid reader... I'm never going to see my fiancee again. <Tarri> ::grins a little tentatively at Val:: You knew I liked books! * Glossaria grabs Val's head and pulls him down to kiss him soundly on the mouth. "You'll just have to come *here* to study." She grins, a flirty look in her eye. "And there are *other* things I allow in the stacks...." <Vallel> I know... I'm only teasing. Gloss loves to show off her library... she gets very excited about it. <Tarri> ::blushes and covers her mouth with both hands:: Oh... Maybe I should go... ::she giggles softly:: <Glossaria> Oh! ::ducking her head:: I'm sorry, I didn't mean... no, please don't go! <Tarri> ::giggles:: I'm just teasing, Glossaria. I can't *possibly* leave until I've at least figured out where to start! * Vallel runs a finger down the shelves, checking spines. <Vallel> Ah, here it is ::hands Tarri a blue silk bound book:: I liked this one. <Tarri> Oh? ::she smiles almost teasingly at Val as she takes the book:: I was only after you for your books in the first place, you know. <Vallel> Really? <Tarri> ::glances at Gloss, then laughs:: Well, not *entirely*... <Glossaria> ::grins at Tarri's teasing:: It would be turnabout-fair play, after all. ::looking at Vallel sidelong, with a teasing smile of her own:: Vallel was after *me* for my books too, initially. <Glossaria> If you like, I can familiarize you with the Library's organization. There are some areas I'll need to point out, anyway, that are off-limits. <Vallel> ::touches Tarri's cheek lightly:: You were the only friend I had at home... I'm glad we can be friends again. <Tarri> ::looks at Gloss and nods solemnly:: Oh, yes. ::she glances around nervously:: I wouldn't want to... to stumble into any magical books. <Vallel> ::blushes:: Those were different sorts of books. <Vallel> And you dropped it on purpose. * Tarri takes Val's hand and squeezes it lightly. "I'm glad, too. It's much nicer than being afraid." <Glossaria> ::grins, affecting an innocent look:: Oh, did I? ::blinking her eyes:: <Tarri> ::eyes widen again at the conversation:: Oh, this sounds like something else I shouldn't listen to! <Vallel> I'm so sorry you were ever afraid of me... <Glossaria> You certainly *seemed* interested in the material. <Vallel> Oh, don't you mind her... she has a... certain passion for practical application of knowledge. <Tarri> ::quietly:: I'm sorry too, Val. ::she laughs at his description of Gloss:: I'm sure I don't want to know what *that* means! <Glossaria> ::firmly:: Well, to set your mind at ease, Tarri, you shouldn't be able to read the magical texts anyway, without instruction. And the really dangerous texts I keep locked up in the vault. ::points to an even more imposing door to the left side of the room-- heavy, dark metal:: And the particularly valuable texts are also locked. ::points to the display cases:: <Tarri> ::turns back to Gloss, paying close attention to the rules:: <Glossaria> It means that around me, at least, you certainly don't need to be embarrassed for anything you might have done in the past! <Tarri> ::blushes furiously:: Oh, dear... <Vallel> And don't get too flustered, since she's fairly blunt, direct, and insatiably curious about things that sometimes she shouldn't ask questions about. <Glossaria> *Or* embarrassed for me. I'm not, after all. ::smiles at Vallel:: And look at what it won me. <Glossaria> ::sticks her tongue out at Vallel:: But I *do* try to be considerate, so if I fluster you, please tell me and I'll stop. <Tarri> ::puts her hands to her flaming cheeks:: Oh.. I don't know if I can *not* be a little embarrassed, but I'll try and remember. <Glossaria> As I told San, it gets easier with experience. <Tarri> You were talking to him about...? ::flushes even harder:: Oh, my... <Vallel> ::eyes Gloss, suddenly a little worried:: What *exactly* gets a little easier with experience? <Glossaria> ::cocking her head, looking at Vallel:: Why, sex, of course. Both talking about it and having it. <Glossaria> But... let's see... what else do you need to know? Oh! Anything you can't find, please feel free to ask me. If you want a book from my desk, you're welcome to it, but please let me know first. And...::points:: that's the reshelving cart, you needn't put the books back on the shelves when you're done with them. <Tarri> ::nods, looking around slowly:: Where... what do I do with books I'm not done reading yet? When it's time to go home? <Vallel> ::coughs:: Are you practicing with him? ::his voice sort of ranges up several registers near the end of that sentence:: <Glossaria> Oh, I can assign you a reading desk. You can leave them there. Just-- please use bookmarks. Don't dogear or turn them upside-down to hold your page. <Tarri> Oh, no, I wouldn't do that! <Glossaria> ::peering at Vallel, looking concerned:: We had a brief and, for him, somewhat embarrassing conversation on puberty as it may relate to the onset of psionic powers. He indicated his inexperience, I instructed him in where he might *obtain* experience safely, if he so desired. ::her tone a little hurt:: I would never be unfaithful to you, love, without your permission. <Vallel> ::laughs, looking relieved:: Well, I just like to be sure of these things, you know... ::kisses her on the forehead:: Only because I don't know what I'd do without you. * Tarri decides to retreat from the conversation before she can burst with the effort of blushing harder. She takes the slim book to a small desk not too far away and begins paging through it. <Glossaria> Likewise. ::leaning her forehead on his chest briefly:: Y'know, you're *awfully* cute when you're jealous. <Vallel> And you, light of my life, are awfully cute all the time... ::sniffs at the air:: I think the fish might be ready. <Vallel> ::amends:: Well, except for first thing in the morning when your hair is doing that poof thing ::grins, then ducks, as if he expects to be thwapped:: <Glossaria> ::lifting her head:: Mmm, I think you're right. Tarri, are you hungr-- oooh, Val-LEL! ::makes a face, and gooses him instead of thwapping him:: *You* sleep with your mouth open sometimes! <Vallel> ::laughs, jumping away from her hand:: Only kidding, my dear... <Glossaria> ::chuckles:: Well... I'll forgive you. *This* time. So, Tarri, as I was going to say... are you hungry? <Tarri> ::looks up reluctantly from the book:: Maybe a little. <Vallel> You *always* forgive me... I think I'm safe joking with you once in a while... <Glossaria> ::smiles:: We'll have dinner, and then you can come back and read awhile, if you like. Alright? <Glossaria> Hm. If I *always* forgive you, then perhaps my sample is unbalanced. Perhaps I should try not forgiving you, once, for the experience. <Tarri> ::stands, leaving the book with obvious reluctance - but smiling:: All right. <Vallel> I hope not, my dear... "for day would turn as black as night, were you to take away my shining light." * Tarri giggles. "You're such a cute couple." <Glossaria> Here-- we can take the shortcut to the dining room. Ohh... Lorian, "The Knight's Lay"! ::smiles meltily:: You're forgiven! <Vallel> ::offers an arm to each lady:: Shall we go have some dinner? * Tarri laughs softly, then almost gingerly takes Val's arm. <Glossaria> ::nods, taking Vallel's arm, holding out her other hand to turn a book entitled "Joie d'Gastronomie" upside-down before opening the Library door. <Glossaria> ::Though it looks like the same door they entered through, this time the door opens directly onto a broad, well-appointed hall filled with delicious smells. A long linen-covered table is set with four places near one end, and covered dishes cover its surface:: Dinner is served! |
