<Tarri> ::The market is slowly closing up for the end of day. Even as the crowds become more sparse, the bargaining and haggling becomes more frenetic. Tarri is wandering through the marketplace, a bemused look on her face.:: * Tarri is an extremely pretty girl of about 18, with very short blonde hair that offsets her enormous green eyes. She is wearing a simple homespun wool dress. * Cwalindia is lagging slightly behind Tarri, her baby son in her arms. * Sanriel walks through the bustling people, looking slightly tense at even the sparser crowds. He gawks at the people and the merchants openly, not watching where he's going but easily walking any and all obstacles. * Tarri pauses to gape at a display of gnomish gadgets. She points a clockwork toy out to Cwal, laughing shyly. <Cwalindia> ::tapping Tarri on the shoulder:: Was there anything you wanted, while we're out? Some extra clothes maybe? I noticed your trunk was a little on the empty side. <Tarri> Oh! Oh, no, Lady. Unless the things I brought aren't suitable, of course. I don't... I don't want to be a burden. * Cwalindia leans forward, looking at the toy. "How very clever... but not quite yet. I think Corri would just put it in his mouth..." <Cwalindia> Child, you're not a burden at all... and you should have something nice. You do plan on leaving the house on your days off, don't you? These wools are going to get awfully warm in the summer. <Sanriel> ::notices Cwalindia and grins at seeing a familiar face, changing direction suddenly and waving:: Lady Bluestar, hello! ::he immediately smacks into a post and trips, regaining his balance and almost stumbling into Tarri, clapping a hand over his face and blushing:: <Tarri> Well, if you think- ::she breaks off in confusion at Sanriel's entrance:: * Cwalindia absently reaches out with her off-hand, balancing the young man. <Cwalindia> And good evening to you as well, Young Master Tailorson. <Sanriel> ::stands up straight, favoring one leg slightly and rubbing his forehead, cheeks burning but smiling:: Thank you, lady Bluestar.. I'm sorry for almost tripping into you and your friend. ::offers his hand to Tarri:: I'm Sanriel Tailorson. <Cwalindia> ::soothes her fussy baby:: This is Miss Mandeil, my new nurse-maid. Tarri, Sanriel is one of my fellow students. * Sanriel grins foolishly at Tarri and the baby * Tarri looks at Sanriel's hand for a moment, then glances briefly at Cwal before lightly placing her hand in his. "I... I'm pleased to meet you, Master Tailorson." <Sanriel> ::shakes Tarri's hand lightly, still blushing a bit:: A pleasure to meet you too, Lady Mandeil. * Cwalindia looks around, waving her hand in front of her face. "I always forget how much warmer it is here... shall we find a nice shady place and get something cool to drink?" She gestures towards a stall with several tables and umbrellas around it. <Tarri> ::blushes:: Oh, please, no, I'm not a great Lady... ::she meekly follows Cwal toward the tables:: <Sanriel> Oh, certainly! ::without looking, he starts moving towards a slightly further table than the closest, pulling out chairs for the ladies:: * Cwalindia moves over to the server and gets a pitcher of lemonade and three glasses. <Cwalindia> Here we go... ::the server lays the glasses down and fills them from the pitcher:: <Sanriel> ::grins a little, looking slightly away:: umm.. I'm sorry if I offended. I'm not really used to being in a city like this.. I tend to see everyone as ladies and lords.. ::looks a little embarrassed:: * Tarri blushes slightly as Sanriel holds her chair. "Oh, no! I just didn't want you to think... I've only been in the city a few days, really..." She smiles shyly at him. <Sanriel> ::smiles:: Thank you, Lady Bluestar. ::takes a sip of lemonade:: mmm, good. * Cwalindia takes a sip of her lemonade and begins fussing over her baby. <Sanriel> ::blinks and looks at Tarri:: Oh, you too? I've only been here for a couple of weeks myself! <Tarri> Really? ::she looks relieved:: It's all so overwhelming! <Cwalindia> ::laughs, looking at the two:: I certainly can relate... I've been here for a few years now, but when I first got here... I'd never seen a human before. <Sanriel> :: a pair of noisy pedestrians stroll by, arguing.. one of them pushes the other into the table that had been closest to Cwalindia, Tarri, and Sanriel, and he then runs. The fallen man knocks the table and one of the chairs over, then gets up and angrily chases the one that pushed him:: * Sanriel looks over at the scene in surprise <Tarri> OH! * Cwalindia looks over, frowning. <Sanriel> ::blinks and shakes his head, then blushes slightly looking back at Tarri and Cwal and nods quickly:: Oh it is, I know. I was really lucky to find someone nice outside of town that showed me around a bit. * Cwalindia watches the two men chase each other down the street. "Very sloppy... really." <Sanriel> ::glances back over at the men:: sloppy? <Sanriel> ::back to Tarri:: I'm.. well, I'm sort of learning my way around still, but I know some nice places in town, and several more just outside. If.. if you'd like to see them I'd be happy to show you around a bit, Lady Mandeil. <Cwalindia> ::colors slightly:: Never mind... just an observation. * Tarri blushes again and sips her lemonade. "That sounds very nice, Master Tailorson. If..." She glances at Cwal. "If you approve, Lady..." <Cwalindia> ::nodding:: Certainly, child. You do get some time off, you know... if you and Master Tailorson would help me carry the shopping back to the mansion, before you run off, I'd appreciate it. * Sanriel blinks again and looks curious at Cwalindia's comment, but remains silent * Cwalindia finishes off her lemonade, then lays a few silver coins on the table. <Tarri> Oh, of course! I only... I've only been here a couple of days. I didn't know if I got a day off yet. ::she smiles happily:: <Sanriel> ::smiles:: I'd be more than happy to! You've got your adorable baby there, and I wouldn't think of letting Lady Mandeil carry anything I could. <Tarri> ::smiles shyly again:: Oh, but that's what I'm supposed to be doing! Lady Bluestar hired me to help out! <Cwalindia> Well, then... ::grins:: I think the grocer will have gotten my order together by now... ::turns to Tarri:: Are you sure we shouldn't stop by the dry goods store and pick you out some material? <Tarri> ::recalls the subject of clothing:: Oh! Well, if you think it's for the best, Lady Bluestar... * Sanriel finishes off his lemonade and smiles at the ladies * Tarri starts and drinks some of her lemonade. <Cwalindia> I saw a lovely shade of dark blue damask the other day that I think you'd look just lovely in. <Sanriel> And you have me along now to help be a porter. Mom always took me along shopping for that, too. ::smiles:: <Tarri> Whatever you think best, Lady. <Tarri> ::to San:: I'd... Your help would be welcome, of course. <Sanriel> ::smiles brightly at Tarri:: So where are you from, if you don't mind my asking? <Cwalindia> ::looks at Tarri, her eyes warm:: I think lots of things are best. So, stop fussing and let me spend some money. I always love to have an excuse. ::she smiles:: * Sanriel stifles a giggle <Tarri> ::giggles a little at Cwal's comment:: Yes, Lady. <Tarri> ::to San:: Oh, it's a very small village, south of here a few days. Mostly farmers, though my da' was a moneylender. * Tarri gets up and carries the empty glasses and pitcher back to the server. "Are you sure I can't take the baby, Lady? At least until we get to the grocer's?" <Sanriel> A moneylender? ::grins:: Sounds bigger than my home, then. My pop was a tailor... ::blushes:: well, obviously. I just never could get the hang of it, myself. <Cwalindia> Oh... ::looks at her baby:: I sort of forgot... here... ::hands Corrigan off to Tarri:: I'm not used to you being around just yet... * Sanriel grins and makes funny faces at the baby <Tarri> ::smiles at San as she takes the baby from Cwal:: Well, I'm sure it was very brave of you to come here. Tell me about your home? <Sanriel> Brave? ::blushes and shakes his head:: Oh no, it just... seemed necessary. <Tarri> ::flushes a bit herself:: I know how that is. * Cwalindia stands up, leading the way to the grocers. <Sanriel> ::smiles suddenly:: Just a bunch of families. The sort of place where everyone knows everyone else. I joined out little militia.. we called it that, but it was really just scouts and hunters. There used to be some orcs or something out that way a while back. * Tarri follows Cwal obediently, pointing bright colors and street jesters out to the baby as they walk. She looks at San wide-eyed. "Did you ever have to fight one?" <Sanriel> ::looks curiously and sympathetically at Tarri:: Mind if I ask what brought you here..? I'm sorry if I'm being too nosy! ::last said quickly:: <Sanriel> ::shakes his head:: No, thankfully! We had some kobolds get within ten miles of our village once, but they left us alone, so we left them alone. <Tarri> I... ::she glances at him and blushes:: I got in a little trouble, back home, and so when I was offered the position with Lady Bluestar, my da' thought it would be good for me. <Sanriel> ::furrows his brow:: I'm sorry, I don't mean to pry, or bring up anything bad... ::smiles brightly again:: But I hope things work out for you here. Lady Bluestar is really nice, and her sister Lady Nightstorm is also really nice, if you haven't met her yet. She got me into her school. * Cwalindia waves at the air. "Flatterer... " She grins, to indicate that she is joking. <Tarri> ::she looks away for a minute, then looks back and smiles:: I think I'll like it here. Everything is so *different*! And Lady Bluestar's been very good to me... Is that how you know her? I haven't met anyone, really except her and m'lord, and some of the other staff... And Corrigan, of course! ::she grins and bounces the baby to make him laugh:: * Sanriel blushes and grins big <Sanriel> ::nods:: Yes, I met Lady Bluestar because she studies there, too. I only just am getting started.. learning to read and write. ::laughs:: It's *really* strange. <Cwalindia> Well, come along you two... I need to get home soon, or Jalavier will be at home alone, wondering where I went off to... ::she grins, leading them into the grocers, who has several packages waiting:: <Sanriel> Yes, ma'am! ::follows along quickly, grinning at Tarri:: * Tarri returns the baby to Cwal and helps with the grocer's packages. * Sanriel insists on taking most of the packages, straining but trying to look like he isn't. <Tarri> ::to San:: I can read, a little. The other village boys used to tease me about it. * Cwalindia smiles, leading them next door to the dry goods dealer. She eyes Tarri, then purchases a bolt of blue damask, a bolt of white linen and a bolt of dark red silk. <Sanriel> ::shakes his head:: Yeah, I know I'd get a lot of ribbing from my friends back home. But it's apparently pretty important... ::laughs:: I never imagined it for me, though. * Sanriel follows Cwalindia into the dry goods shop and watches * Tarri grins at him shyly. "I'd be happy to help you, if you need it." <Sanriel> wow... such fabric... my pop would love to be able to work with things like that, I bet. * Tarri looks wide-eyed at Cwal's purchases, but doesn't say anything. <Sanriel> ::grins back at Tarri:: Really? That would be great! I kinda have trouble making myself practice it all.. I'd rather be out in the woods sometimes, and all the little words start looking like leaves. ::chuckles:: * Cwalindia speaks quietly with the dry goods shopkeeper for a while. <Sanriel> ::blushes, looking at the fabric and speaking quietly to Tarri:: Those are for you? <Tarri> ::whispers:: I hope not *all* of them! I'd never be able to relax in something so fine! <Cwalindia> All right, you two... I'm having those fabrics delivered over to Mistress Cossette's shop. She's a very good seamstress, you know. We'll go by and get you fitted in a day or so, all right? * Sanriel stifles a giggle <Tarri> ::eyes get bigger, but she only says:: Yes, Lady. Thank you, Lady. <Sanriel> Wow.. that's really generous, Lady Bluestar. ::smiles widely:: <Cwalindia> Pish-tosh... <Sanriel> ::quietly, to no one in particular:: I hope one day I'll be able to do something to repay all this kindness <Tarri> ::nods to San:: I hope so, too... Everyone's been so good to me, since I came. <Cwalindia> Well, come along, children... ::she sweeps out of the store, her nose in the air, but a broad grin across her face:: <Sanriel> ::smiles to Tarri:: I'm glad. Sounds like you deserve it. ::blushes suddenly and looks away:: oh, sorry! Coming, Lady Bluestar! * Tarri follows Cwal, grinning. * Sanriel hurries after Cwalindia and Tarri <Sanriel> umm... Lady Mandeil? ::blushing and not quite looking at her:: If you're free this evening, I'm going to a very interesting place called Sealgair's Meade Hall... there are some very nice, but *strange* ::grins:: people there. It.. it's a good landmark, if.. you'd like to come along and see it after we take these things back for Lady Bluestar...? <Tarri> Oh, well... ::she looks at Cwal:: As long as it's all right with Lady Bluestar...? <Cwalindia> Certainly... certainly... have fun. I always enjoyed my evenings there. <Sanriel> ::beams:: Thank you, Lady Bluestar, Lady Mandeil. <Tarri> Oh! ::she looks suddenly more at ease:: If you've been there, then surely Da' couldn't object. <Sanriel> ::grins foolishly and nods:: An' my roommate goes there, too. And Lady Nightstorm. <Cwalindia> ::laughs easily:: My sister is there most of the time, although she's out of town right now. 'Tis a nice place... |
