* Rhys walks in from the back room, polishing a mug. He opens the windows to let a breeze in, and then unlocks the door. "Hall's open." * Kevil enters with Meghan on his arm, laughing and chatting. His lute is slung over his shoulder, and he's limping very slightly. He is dressed in deep blues and reds. <Rhys> Well met, Kevil. Have a seat. Can I get you anything? * Kevil sits on a barstool. "Meade, if you'd be so kind, Sir Rhys." * Meghan is wearing a dark green dress her hair tied back with the same color tie. She has a silver circlet resting on her head a small purple stone set in it rests on the top of her forehead * Rhys pours Kevil a mug of meade. "Here you go. How are things?" <Kevil> ::takes a deep drink of meade, sighing happily:: Quite well, now. * Meghan smiles softly to Rhys "Good evening Rhys" * Vallel walks in, wearing a loose-fitting white cotton shirt and brown trousers. He is carrying a leather-bound book under one arm. <Rhys> Evening, Meghan. Can I get you anything? <Meghan> Ummm fruit juice? <Rhys> Vallel, nice to see you. What would you like? <Rhys> Any specific type, Meghan? <Meghan> ::smiles:: surprise me * Vallel sits down at the bar. "Evening, Rhys. How about an ale?" * Meghan smiles at Val "Hey Val" * Rhys shrugs, picks a mug off the racks, considers the taps for a moment, and finally pours Meghan a mug of juice that is a cloudy white, with the faintest green tinge to it. "Here you go." <Vallel> ::smiles:: Hello Meghan. * Rhys pours vallel a nut-brown ale and sets it down in front of him. * Nacheyla limps in, a wooden crutch under her left arm. * Kevil half-bows to Val. "Friend Vallel. How are you this eve?" <Meghan> Thanks Rhys ::sips at the juice:: * Rhys raises a hand in greeting to Nacheyla. "Hey, boss. Can I get you anything?" * Meghan turns sliding onto a seat her eyes go wide when she sees Nach <Vallel> ::nods to Kevil:: I'm doing well. How'd the lithis thing go? <Nacheyla> Hey Rhys... ::sits down on a stool:: * Elgara'a enters dressed in sand-colored robes, cinched by a deep blue sash at the ribs and covered overall by a wide-cut, floor-length, red-brown wool coat. A pale blue headcloth covers her hair. <Meghan> Nacheyla are you ok? <Kevil> ::grins and nods toward Nach:: There were complications. Of course. * Nacheyla snorts, looking disgusted. "I broke my ankle. I'll be fine in a few weeks." * Rhys bows, acknowledging the stranger. "Evening, miss. I am Rhys Altain, barkeep tonight. Can I get you anything?" * Kevil bows to El as she enters. "Illa'azim. Your presence is an honor, as always." * Meghan nods to Nach and glances at Elgara'a as she enters the Hall * Vallel looks at his aunt, sighs, and has a sip of his beer. He opens the book he brought in and starts reading. <Elgara'a> Mise el'kheer, my friends. ::she turns to the bar:: A cup of mint tea, please, Master Altain? * Meghan sips at her juice again looking between Kev and Elgara'a once * Rhys picks a cup out from under the bar, fills it with steaming hot water, selects a gauze packet from under the bar, and sets it to steep in the cup. "It'll be just a moment." <Elgara'a> ::she bows to Kevil in return with a small smile:: I trust your leg is better, sahim? <Kevil> ::nods:: It is a bit stiff, yet, but I expect it to be well in some few days. * Xarroch opens the door hard, not quite slamming it this time, and squeezes through. He nods to Elgara'a and Kevil, then to Meghan with a bit of smile, which widens when he sees Nacheyla. He walks to the bar and nods Vallel and Rhys as well. <Kevil> ::smiles blandly:: Had you use for it, Illa'azim? <Xarroch> Good evening, everyone! <Meghan> Xarroch ::she grins and hugs him tightly:: * Nacheyla looks over at Kevil. "I just wanted to comment, while I was thinking about it, if you immortalize our adventures in song, you'd better leave out the bit about falling down, okay?" <Rhys> Evening Xarroch. You're getting better with the door. <Elgara'a> ::she nods:: I still have the headache, but I count it as a reminder that I am fortunate yet to have a head. ::she raises her eyebrows:: Use? Of your leg? ::she grins:: I should hate to deprive you, when I have two of my own that work quite well indeed. * Rhys lifts the gauze bag out of the mug and hands the mug on a saucer to Elgara'a. "Here you go." <Xarroch> ::hugs Meghan gently:: Welcome back, little Meghan. I trust your quest went well? ::notes the circlet with a bit of a grin:: <Kevil> ::laughs:: I think that particular adventure should remain a mystery, do you not? It was fraught with terribly un-heroic acts. Tripping, stumbling, falling... ::he grins at Nach:: * Meghan nods smiling up at him. "Sometime soon we should get together and I can tell you everything" <Rhys> Can I get you anything, Xarroch? Mulekick? <Kevil> ::grins at El:: Well, should you find you have need for... more legs, by all means, call me. <Elgara'a> ::she retrieves her cup from the bar:: Many thanks, effendi. <Xarroch> I would very much like to hear about it. ::to Rhys:: Please, Rhys. <Nacheyla> Getting shot in the leg... getting mired in a mud-puddle. Very inglorious... Probably one of the worst fights of my career. ::laughs:: <Kevil> ::grins:: Indeed. I should be a laughingstock, if it were learned back home that I'd leapt *into* the path of fire... * Rhys carefully pours Xarroch a mug of mulekick, using one of the more courageous of the mugs. <Xarroch> ::grins at Nacheyla:: I begin to regret charging into the cave... it sounds as if I missed some amusing things. * Meghan smiles at him once more before siting back at the bar next to Val and sipping at her juice * Nacheyla sticks her tongue out at Xarroch. "Actually, I'm just as glad you weren't there." <Elgara'a> ::she takes a seat at Kevil's table, and, unaccountably, blushes:: Master Kevil, I must protest. I think it is not good for me to have so much blood going to my head just now. <Xarroch> ::grins wider back at Nacheyla and Kevil:: Ah, but I think I would have gotten a good laugh. * Meghan glances at the book over Val's shoulder "Anything interesting?" <Nacheyla> Exactly. <Elgara'a> ::looking over at Xarroch, all jesting gone:: I am glad you did. Of the two tasks, yours was by far the more vital. If they had survived, and bred... ::she breaks off with a shudder:: <Vallel> ::looks up:: Oh... no, not really. Just some research. <Xarroch> ::nods solemnly:: True. They were the greater threat to the area, for certain. <Kevil> ::chuckles:: You cry peace so soon, Illa'azim? Ah, but of course my only desire is to obey your whim... ::he grins, and begins to take his lute from its case:: * Meghan smiles at him "Research about?" <Elgara'a> ::she shakes her head, but smiles again as she sips her tea:: I think, el'azim, that you flatter me again. * Kevil looks at Elgara'a more seriously - or at least with less mischief. "I have a question, if I may... Who is Kazah?" * Meghan glances back to Kev and Elgara'a quickly before returning her gaze to Val <Vallel> Research about the effects on the mind of severe stress... I'm ::he sighs:: leading a group of students in recovery discussion at the school. <Xarroch> ::looks questioningly at Meghan:: So your new adornment is part of the result from your quest? It fits you well. * Meghan nods to him "Yes it is and thank you" * Xarroch smiles <Elgara'a> ::at the name, she touches two fingers of her right hand to forehead and lips:: Kazah? ::she raises her eyebrows:: He is At'ar's husband... protector of the People against the burning eye of his wife. It is Kazah who brings the waters. * Meghan smiles at Xarroch and sips her juice again <Xarroch> ::crouches down to look at Nacheyla's ankle, then looks up at her:: I can mend the broken bone now if you wish it, Nacheyla. <Elgara'a> ::cocking her head, curiously:: How did you come to hear of Kazah? * Vallel blinks suddenly, then looks at Meghan. <Nacheyla> Oh, you mean and give up all the fun of limping around, getting a callus under my arm? Of course not! ::laughs:: * Meghan smiles at Val brushing a bit of hair off his face before looking back to Xarroch and Nach <Kevil> ::smiles:: Ah, thank you. ::he eyes El, then grins:: You swore by his name after the fight. I could... sense from your use that it was a force of good or healing, but no more. <Xarroch> ::chuckles and stands smoothly:: As you wish then, Huntress. ::downs his mug of mulekick and sets the mug carefully back on the counter:: <Rhys> More, Xarroch? <Elgara'a> ::looking over and smiling slyly at Nach:: But it would be an honorable scar to bear... <Xarroch> ::nods to Rhys:: Please, I would like another. * Meghan tuns to Val "So can I help with your research?" <Nacheyla> Sarcasm, Xarroch... sarcasm. I was jesting. Certainly, if you can spare the energy, I would love to be able to get around without so much difficulty * Rhys pours Xarroch another mug of mulekick. <Elgara'a> ::looking back to Kevil and raising her eyebrows again:: In all of that... and with your wound... you *noted* that? ::she shakes your head:: Truly, Singer, you are devoted to your craft. <Vallel> ::looks at Meghan, closing the book after marking his place:: I don't know. Can you help? <Xarroch> Ah! Merely jesting with me, then. ::tone laden with repressed humor, he crouches down again and begins a low chant, circling his hands around Nacheyla's ankle and slowly moving them up and down:: <Meghan> ::drinks the rest of her juice:: I'd like to try <Kevil> ::laughs:: I could no more ignore a new word than the sun in the sky. <Elgara'a> ::she chuckles:: In this rainy land, it is very easy to miss the sun. <Xarroch> ::there is an almost audible click as the bones knit together, and after a few moment longer, Xarroch moves her foot around testingly, then stand again:: There! Good as new. * Meghan smiles at Xarroch <Kevil> ::chuckles:: I'd have chosen a more apt analogy, but you have forbidden me to compliment you further until you are healed. <Xarroch> ::returns Meghan's smile:: It is good to see you so happy, little Meghan. <Elgara'a> ::she laughs, and sips her tea again:: Truly, I think there is no stopping you. <Meghan> ::nods to him:: It is nice to be back among such good friends <Elgara'a> I could as well try to sweep the desert out from beneath my tent! <Nacheyla> ::gets up and walks around her table a few times:: Much better, thanks. <Kevil> ::laughs and looks at Elgara'a slyly:: Does that mean I have your permission once more, Illa'azim? <Xarroch> ::smiles at Nacheyla:: Good! Now we just need to find something else to hunt. <Vallel> ::takes a sip of beer:: I don't know, Meghan. There are things at group... I don't know... I suppose you could go to group with me, if you wanted. <Elgara'a> ::she shakes her finger at him mock-sternly:: If the pressure of blood in my cheeks breaks open my head wound again, it is you, not I, who will answer to Master Xarroch! <Xarroch> ::laughs:: And to Rhys, who will need to clean it up. <Meghan> ::looks at Val curiously:: Well maybe we could talk more about it later and then decide. But I would like to help if I can <Kevil> ::turns to Xarroch:: Friend Xarroch, do you think your work will withstand the lady's blush? I seek but to bring a rosy glow to her cheek... * Rhys rolls his eyes. "Please. I just got that atrocious gouge out of the floor last week." <Xarroch> ::chuckles:: I think it will not do any physical harm. <Vallel> I know ::looks at the floor thoughtfully:: And I appreciate it. <Xarroch> ::nods back to Meghan:: It *is* nice to have friends, yes. ::looks around the room with a pleased expression:: <Kevil> ::turns back to El, grinning:: His word upon it! * Meghan watches him for a moment and then nods sliding off her seat "Well you know where I am when you want to come talk about it" She walks over to where Kevil and Elgara'a are and smiles at Elgara'a extending her hand "I don't believe we have had the pleasure of meeting. My name is Meghan" <Elgara'a> ::she grins, and shakes her head in mock-despair:: I am doomed. * Vallel blinks a few more times, then turns back to his book and his beer, shaking his head slightly. <Xarroch> ::chuckling:: There are worse dooms. * Kevil strums his lute and begins putting it into tune. "Would it be overly presumptuous if I begged the honor of singing for you, Illa'azim? <Elgara'a> ::she takes Meghan's hand, clasping it at the wrist firmly:: Elgara'a ibn Al Shudhyr of the Raz'hadi Bedine... I am honored in your acquaintance. <Meghan> ::smiles at the woman:: The pleasure is all mine. I have been looking forward to meeting the woman who Kevil finds worthy to write such beautiful music for * Nacheyla walks over and leans on the bar. "Hey, Rhys, can I get some meade, please?" <Rhys> Sure, Nacheyla. ::he pours her some meade:: * Xarroch offers Nacheyla some of his mule kick <Nacheyla> Thanks... nice work you did on the floor. Sorry about that. You should have seen the half-wit who did it. Came in dragging this HUGE warhammer called Bash. <Elgara'a> ::she turns to Kevil, her face lighting:: I am the one who would be honored, effendi! Please. ::she turns back to Meghan with a smile:: Ah, so you are the other of Kevil's companions on that journey. It went well for you, then? * Nacheyla turns to Xarroch. "Not in this form, hon. I want to be awake for the rest of the week, if that's okay with you." * Meghan nods to her "I am and yes although difficult it went very well" <Kevil> ::bows briefly toward Elgara'a, then speaks a formula in his native tongue, translating:: My thanks, Illa'azim. My song is a poor, tattered thing, not fit for the touch of your foot. Pray, tread lightly upon it. * Vallel puts his book down again, turning to listen to Kevil. * Kevil begins playing the lute, a soft ballad with just a hint of something exotic and dangerous in it. <Xarroch> ::grins:: Ahh well. It would be interesting to see how this affects a human... * Meghan smiles and pats the woman on the shoulder before going back to sit next to Val leaning back against the bar * Nacheyla drinks her meade, eyeing Xarroch over the rim of her mug. <Nacheyla> As I've told Zoya several times, I am not a subject for experimentation. <Kevil> ::singing:: El Mara's sands run red with blood / Just one survivor of the raid. / The bards should praise the warrior's stand, / But 'twas a woman held the blade. <Xarroch> At least I know you could take it, Nacheyla. You have an admirable constitution for your kind. * Elgara'a sits again, listening raptly as her tea cools, forgotten. <Kevil> Foul magic slew the watchful guard, / The Black Robes from the night did fade / Planned murder foul with none to tell - / But a hidden woman held one blade. <Nacheyla> ::puts her mug down:: You would know, I guess. <Kevil> New husband slain by dreadful guile, / With grief her poor heart overlaid - / But between the foe and new-joined clan / Was only her and her woman's blade. * Xarroch chuckles and rests a hand on one of Nacheyla's fondly. <Kevil> The Black Robes rose, a dreadful tide. / With a lion's courage, in did she wade. / The sands ran red with honorless blood, / Spilled by the miserable woman's blade. * Vallel flickers a look over at Xarroch and his aunt, his eyes narrowing slightly. <Kevil> No warrior could have done as much / To turn the tide of death arrayed. / No tribesman would have stood so tall / As stood the woman with her blade. <Kevil> The black so deep it drowned the moon, / And though each life was dearly paid, / El Mara's blood ran through the sands, / Despite the woman with her blade. * Meghan glances over at Xarroch and Nach at the same moment as Val and then looks at him she rests a hand on his squeezing gently <Kevil> The huntress, too, might well have died, / Left none to sing her tribe-kin's shades / But to her honor's rescue sprang / Four Grey Sisters - and their blades. * Elgara'a sits unmoving, as tears begin to run down her cheeks. <Kevil> El Mara's sands run red with blood / Of all, but one survived the raid. / And bards will sing now, of her stand: / One brave woman, and her blade. * Kevil bows deeply as his song finishes. <Kevil> ::softly:: I thank you, Illa'azim, for the gift of your story. * Nacheyla wipes her eyes, then applauds. "Very good!" * Meghan smiles at Kevil and claps softly "It was beautiful Kevil" <Xarroch> ::looks around curiously at the clapping, then nods to Kevil:: That was very nice, Kevil. * Elgara'a sits in stunned silence for a moment more, before whispering. "Truly... you honor me beyond all measure, Singer." <Xarroch> What is this custom of banging your hands together? * Vallel claps. "That was wonderful." * Kevil watches Elgara'a without moving until she speaks. Then he sighs audibly, smiles, and straightens. "It is less than your dessert, Illa'azim." He finally turns and bows his thanks to the other compliments. <Meghan> ::grins:: Clapping Xarroch. After someone performs it shows them that you enjoyed their performance <Xarroch> Ah. I think I see. ::claps his hands together hard, making a very loud *boom*:: Like so? * Nacheyla winces. "Not quite so... boisterous." <Kevil> ::winces slightly at the noise, but smiles:: <Meghan> ::laughs gently nodding to him:: * Rhys rolls his eyes at Xarroch's thunder-clap. * Meghan turns back to the bar "Rhys could I get some water please?" she pushes her empty juice glass back * Rhys pours Meghan a new mug of water, and sends her juice glass to the kitchen. * Xarroch tries again, the noise loud, but bearable <Meghan> Thanks ::takes the mug and drinks most of it down:: <Kevil> Thank you, friends. ::he seats himself again and pulls the lute into his lap. He begins playing again, more quietly - a wandering instrumental background music - as he looks at Elgara'a.:: I did not place your wound in danger, I hope? ::he smiles:: * Meghan smiles at Elgara'a * Elgara'a sits for a moment, head bowed. "In my land, we reward a Singer in other ways as well." She reaches up her arm, and strips several gold bangle-bracelets from her wrist, putting them on the table.] * Elgara'a then reaches deep beneath her robes and pulls out a pale green, somewhat tattered length of fine silk. With almost ritual movements, she wipes her tears with it, and places it on top on the bangles. "And this was from El Mara. For you, Singer."] * Nacheyla wipes her eyes again, then finishes off her meade. * Kevil looks like he's about to protest, but stops himself and bows again. "Th.. Thank you." He reaches out, but pauses just before he touches the silk. "I do not know what the proper answer is." He smiles slightly, wryly. * Xarroch knocks back his mulekick, and again carefully sets the mug back down on the bar. * Meghan drinks the rest of her water <Elgara'a> ::she returns his smile, warmly:: They are my thanks to you. Accept them as your due... you have already said-- or sung-- all that was needed. <Xarroch> So this is what you do, Kevil? Aside from the adventuring, that is... write and sing songs? * Vallel sighs. "Gee, no one ever pays me in gold bracelets." <Kevil> ::nods, and carefully lifts the silk, folding it carefully. He looks at Xarroch, and laughs:: Certain... purists, from my home, would say that it is a Bard's place to write and sing, and not to meddle in the adventuring at all. <Elgara'a> ::chuckling:: Mine would say a bard must adventure, or how will he know what's worthy of singing about? And where else would he learn his tales? <Kevil> ::grins as he places the silk into a belt pouch:: This is why the purists are dying out. The tradition is that a bard will travel with a party, but not participate, only record. ::he picks up one of the bracelets:: But a bard must eat, must he not? And few adventurers are so... generous as this. <Elgara'a> My people are wanderers, nomads. Very little of our history is written down, for who wishes to carry it in that fashion? Instead, we have Singers, who remember our history and sing it to our children, and who mark brave deeds and noble women. <Xarroch> And where's the fun in not participating? * Xarroch chuckles <Kevil> ::chuckles:: Indeed! * Meghan finishes her water and pushes her mug back * Vallel goes back to reading his book. * Elgara'a sips her tea, and makes a face as she realizes she's let it go cold. Master... Rhys, is it? Might I have a glass of pear juice? <Rhys> Yes, of course. ::pours Elgara'a a mug of pear juice.:: And, please, just Rhys will do fine. * Meghan watches Val a moment before looking down to her empty water mug * Kevil pulls the bracelets over his hand and half way up his forearm, where they rest comfortably without jangling. He admires their glint in the light. "Beautiful." <Elgara'a> Ah, but is the responsibility and honor of our tribe to keep our Singers well. ::she grins:: And besides, it's fun. ::she looks at Kevil slyly:: Indeed, I think this is the first time I have made a Singer speechless in his thanks. <Elgara'a> ::she nods as she gets up to trade in her teacup for the mug:: Rhys. My thanks. <Rhys> You're quite welcome. <Kevil> ::shrugs and grins somewhat sheepishly:: I am not so shy when I am commissioned for the song, I assure you. But in this case, I had asked your tuition to even use the story. I expected no return at all - much less such a generous one. <Meghan> ::glances sidelong at Val and says quietly:: So do you want to have lunch tomorrow and talk about this group and how i can help? <Vallel> We can, if you want to. Meghan... ::looks at the bottom of his mug:: I... you know why I'm in a recovery group, yes? <Elgara'a> ::grins wider:: And that is the *best* sort to reward. ::she flips her hand at him:: Chieftain's privilege. <Meghan> Well I don't know that you have told me specifically no. <Kevil> ::he laughs as he bows yet again:: As I said before, Illa'azim, your whim is my only desire. <Elgara'a> ::she chuckles:: Be careful, effendi. If the blood does not go to my head, the power could. <Vallel> ::glances at Meghan, then back at the floor:: Because of what happened... ::takes a deep breath:: With you, with Gloss, with Charoli. I... <Kevil> ::laughs:: Well, the Lady Meghan flatters my ego outrageously, and so we will be well-matched, d'va? * Meghan nods and places her hand gently on Val's arm "I thought as much. I want to do what I can to help you Val, and the others if I can" <Elgara'a> ::she grins at him sidelong, under lowered lashes:: I was not aware that your ego required flattery, el'azim. * Xarroch chuckles <Kevil> ::he sighs mournfully, though his eyes twinkle:: Alas, do you not know? Only one who requires constant approval and acclaim would seek such a life... <Vallel> I know that you do. I know. ::glances at her again:: I'm just... ::swallows hard:: I might not be able to talk about it, in group, if you're there. I... don't... ::trails off, looking uncertain:: * Elgara'a snorts, and drinks her juice. * Meghan looks surprised for a moment and nods "I had not thought of it....well I'll not go then" <Vallel> I know that you want to help, and believe me, it means a lot to me. But I don't know that I can... talk about it with them, if I am spending most of my time worrying about you. I am sorry. <Kevil> ::grins and drinks from his mug of meade:: <Meghan> ::nods:: that makes sense. I just want to help you Vallel. I long to see you happy again, and I'll do anything I can to help you get there <Vallel> ::nods:: I'm trying... you just take care of you ::glances at her slightly mischievously:: and yours, and I'll work on getting myself back together. * Nacheyla leans back in her chair, humming the refrain from Kevil's song under her breath. <Meghan> ::nods and runs her hand gently over her belly a gesture become the norm for her:: You have to promise to help me pick out a name ok. * Elgara'a frowns slightly, and leans across the table to ask something of Kevil in a low voice. <Vallel> A boy name or a girl name? <Meghan> well one of both. Won't know what it is until it gets here <Vallel> Hmmmm.... <Meghan> ::grins:: didn't mean right this moment. we have about 7 and a half months left * Kevil responds to Elgara'a's question soberly. <Vallel> Amineh? It means "Faith". * Elgara'a starts back. "Ya'salem! Indeed?" * Nacheyla glances over at Elgara'a, raising an eyebrow. <Meghan> ::Smiles:: oh I love it <Elgara'a> ::shakes her head in response to Nacheyla's glance, taking another swallow of juice:: <Kevil> ::nods:: I do not lie. <Xarroch> ::watches thoughtfully, then turns to Rhys:: One last mulekick please, Rhys. * Elgara'a frowns, and whispers something furiously to Kevil. * Rhys pours Xarroch another mug. * Meghan yawns and stands from her seat * Kevil makes a calming gesture to Elgara'a and whispers back. <Xarroch> ::turns to Nacheyla from watching the whisperers:: Is this a courting ritual? * Nacheyla glances at Elgara'a and Kevil, then shrugs. "I'd say yes, but they probably aren't admitting it yet." * Xarroch grins and drinks the mule kick <Meghan> Well I think I'm off for the night ::squeezes Val's arm lightly:: Night Rhys <Kevil> ::glances up at Nach and Xarroch, grinning, but doesn't say anything.:: <Rhys> Good night, Meghan. <Elgara'a> ::nodding reluctantly and leaning back:: Truly... as my elders say, berrani ways are not our ways. But they do not know, I think, how rightly they speak. <Vallel> Good night, Meghan. Are we having lunch tomorrow? <Xarroch> ::smiles at Meghan:: good night, little Meghan. Would you like me to walk you home? <Elgara'a> ::looking up:: Good night, Meghan. Go in peace. <Meghan> ::nods to Val:: Yes let's. It will be nice to chat with you <Kevil> ::nods in agreement with Elgara'a:: <Vallel> ::nods:: * Meghan nods to Xarroch "I would love that Xarroch" <Meghan> Good night Elgara'a. It was very nice to meet you, I hope we get a chance to get to know each other better soon * Nacheyla gets up and brings her mug over to the bar. * Xarroch fishes out a large gold coins with Myth Drannor markings and sets it on the counter, giving Rhys a nod <Xarroch> Good night, Nacheyla, I will come to visit again soon. ::he smiles and waves to everyone else as he walks to the door:: Good night, everyone. <Elgara'a> ::nodding:: Perhaps. * Meghan stops on her way out and kisses Kevil lightly on the cheek and whispers "Beautiful song." * Kevil smiles at Meghan. "Thank you, bright star." <Elgara'a> Good night, Xarroch. And my thanks to you, for last week. * Meghan walks out of the Hall behind Xarroch <Xarroch> And to you, Elgara'a, for helping make sure everyone came through that alive. ::smiles and departs behind Meghan:: * Rhys scoops up Xarroch's coin and flips it into the lockbox. * Vallel shoos his mug over to Rhys, tucking his finger in his book. * Rhys nudges Vallel's mug towards the kitchen. <Vallel> Good night, all. ::leaves a small tarnished silver coin on the bar:: * Vallel nods to his aunt on his way out the door. * Rhys looks at Vallel's coin. ::to Nacheyla:: D'you think he'd mind if this found his way back to him? <Nacheyla> ::sighs:: Honestly, Rhys, I don't think he'd notice. He's got a lot on his mind. <Rhys> Well, then, it certainly can't hurt. ::rolls the coin down the bar, and it rolls down off the bar, across the floor, and out the door:: <Elgara'a> ::rising:: I should go, as well. I have slept much, this past week, but I do not begrudge it. ::putting a handful of bright silver on the bar:: * Kevil rises. "May I escort you home, Illa'azim?" <Elgara'a> I would be honored. ::she grins a little:: I do not believe Lisl has returned home yet. * Rhys scoops the silver into the lockbox and mutters quietly to himself, "Another surplus account to keep track of..." * Kevil mimes exaggerated relief before putting his lute back in its case. * Nacheyla leans against the bar, looking glum. <Elgara'a> ::grinning at Rhys:: I will know, effendi, if my generosity finds its way back to me as anything but drink and goodwill. <Rhys> What's on your mind, Nacheyla? Vallel? * Rhys spreads his hands in a display of innocence. <Nacheyla> Just not being able to decide between my duty and just being interfering. * Elgara'a laughs. <Rhys> Your duty? <Nacheyla> As his relation, and someone who cares for him... <Rhys> Is there anything you can really do? This looks like something he'll have to work through himself. * Kevil slings his lute over his shoulder, bows farewell to Rhys, Nach, and Xarroch, and moves to the door, opening it for Elgara'a. <Nacheyla> Just because there's nothing I can do, does not mean that I am not highly tempted to go try and fix things. * Elgara'a puts up her hood and heads to the door, pausing in the opening. "Ma'a salemma, friends. And... I am glad to see you whole and healthy, Nacheyla." <Rhys> He's of the age where it's best where he be left to fix things if it's reasonably possible for him to do so. No reason to make him dependent on someone else, instead of being self-reliant. <Nacheyla> Good evening, El. <Rhys> Good night, Lady Elgara'a. * Elgara'a passes through the door and holds it open from the outside, bowing Kevil through with a grin. * Kevil offers his arm to Elgara'a as they walk out into the night... <Nacheyla> They do grow up fast, don't they? ::she sighs:: <Rhys> One day at a time... <Nacheyla> Ah well. ::drops a few coins on the bar:: And you'd better put those in the lockbox. ::winks at Rhys:: <Nacheyla> Good night, Rhys.... <Rhys> Good night, Nacheyla. Have a good walk home. * Rhys shoves the coins into the lockbox. * Nacheyla picks up her crutch, looks at it, then tosses it into the woodbox near the fire. * Nacheyla leaves the Hall. * Rhys trails Nacheyla to the door and locks it behind her. He looks longingly at the kitchen, sighs, and trudges into the office, where he begins working on the books. |
