* Tyl pokes her head into the Hall... * Rhys throws open the doors. "The Meade Hall is open!" <Rhys> Tyl, evening. Rum and ice, I suppose? <Tyl> ::walks in:: Good evening, yes please... ::sits down:: * Meghan walks into the Hall and takes a seat on one of the stools * Jelarthna strides in right after Tyl and sits down next to her <Jelarthna> Good evening, Rhys! Haven't seen you for a while. <Meghan> Evening Rhys, Tyl, Jelarthna * Bai walks through the front/side door, dressed in his usual blue robes, with his red katana in his sash and carrying his bone white staff. <Bai> Good evening all. * Rhys fixes Tyl her rum on de rocks. "Evening Meghan, Bai, Jelarthna. What can I get everyone?" * Bai walks to the bar, leans his staff against the wall and sits on one of the stools. <Jelarthna> ::smiles at Meghan:: Hello, Meghan. Good to see you returned. * Meghan smiles at Jel <Bai> Water please. <Jelarthna> Bai! It's been too long! How are you doing? <Meghan> Glass of wine please Rhys * Bai shrugs, "As well as can be expected." * Rhys pours Meghan a glass of wine, and Bai a mug of water. * Tyl looks over at Jelarthna * Glossaria enters, looking over her shoulder and studying the quiet street before stepping inside, apparently bookless for a change. <Tyl> Good evening, dear... how was your day? <Rhys> Glossaria, welcome. Where are we in the alphabet of spirits? <Meghan> Thanks Rhys * Jelarthna smiles and hugs Tyl for a moment * Meghan takes a sip of her glass of wine <Jelarthna> Doing fine! I came in right behind you. ::grins:: <Tyl> oh... ::blinks a few times:: I was thinking. <Jelarthna> Oh, Hello Glossaria, good evening. <Jelarthna> Thinking about what? * Meghan smiles at Gloss <Glossaria> Mm? ::glancing out the window again before taking a seat at the bar and pulling her notebook from an inside pocket:: F. <Meghan> Evening Gloss <Codex> ::A halfling with chalk white hair walks through the door. He carries a war hammer and is wearing Mystra's holy symbol.:: <Meghan> Is everything ok? <Glossaria> ::smiles a trifle hesitantly at Meghan:: Good evening, Meghan. <Jelarthna> No books tonight? ::raises an eyebrow:: * Tyl turns to look at the people trailing into the Hall, then gasps. <Tyl> Codex? <Jelarthna> who? * Codex looks at Tyl, "Tyl'gainia? What in all the damned planes are you doing here?" * Tyl rushes over to the halfling, drops to one knee and squashes her old friend in a fierce hug. <Glossaria> No, no books. I needed to be observant. <Rhys> Hmmm... there's not a lot of choice in the Fs. Drink or ingredient? <Tyl> It's wonderful to see you again... * Codex returns the hug. * Meghan smiles at Tyl <Tyl> Come, old friend, let me buy you a drink... how about several? <Meghan> What are you observing Gloss? * Codex smiles at Tyl and heads towards the bar, "Sure. The Mage's guild will probably be buying me drinks tomorrow after all." * Tyl turns to Jelarthna. * Jelarthna watches Tyl and Codex curiously <Jelarthna> A friend I take it? ::smiles:: <Tyl> This is Codex, my oldest friend... Codex, this is Jelarthna... my... close friend. <Tyl> ::turns to him:: What's the damned Mage's guild want with you? ::snorts:: <Jelarthna> ::laughs lightly and offers a hand to Codex:: A pleasure to meet you! * Codex looks back and forth between Tyl and Jel, then holds a hand out to Jel, "Glad to meet you." <Glossaria> Hmmm... ::flipping to a page and running her finger down a closely-written list:: Is it too cold for a Frozen Daquiri? <Rhys> Definitely not too cold for me to make it, but I don't know if it's too cold for you to drink it or not. How do you feel about ice? * Talarin enters, and stops just inside the door to see and be seen. Talarin is apparently the man they had in mind when they coined the phrase "tall, dark, handsome stranger." He has flawless burnished-copper skin, flashing black eyes, and shoulder-length black hair held back by a leather cord. His costume, mostly in dark red with black and gold trim, is obviously foreign, but shows off his trim figure to wonderful advantage. He carries no obvious weapons, and wears only a single gold chain for jewelry. * Codex climbs up a stool so that his head is actually higher than the bar, "Oh, apparently someone opened a school to teach the child of Marsember demonic arts, claiming they were psionics or some such tripe. Eventually someone decided to try and get Mystra on their side and I got sent here to try and sort things out before the high priest has to make a statement of position." <Glossaria> ::wrinkling her eyebrows:: Feel about ice? I have no emotional attachments one way or another to ice. * Tyl chokes on her rum. <Glossaria> ::looking at Meghan:: I'm sorry, did you ask me something? <Meghan> Just wondering what you were observing <Codex> So what do you recommend Tyl? * Tyl coughs, pounding herself in the sternum with her fist. <Tyl> You're investigating me? <Glossaria> Oh. I was watching out for the people plotting to kill me. * Jelarthna raises an eyebrow * Codex smiles at Tyl, "Amusing isn't it." <Meghan> oh I see <Jelarthna> ::looks at Codex oddly for a moment then turns to Glossaria:: Someone's plotting to *kill* you?? * Talarin looks around slowly, then approaches the bar and bows briefly to Rhys. "I am to have your house drink the best, please?" He places a silver coin on the bar. * Meghan glances at Talarin and then back to Gloss <Meghan> Do you have some idea of what specifically to look for Gloss? * Rhys pours the stranger a mug of the house meade. "Here you are, the house meade. I'm Rhys. Let me know if I can get anything for you." <Tyl> Amusing isn't the word I'd have picked... ::finishes off her rum quickly:: * Bai turns to Glossaria, "Why are people trying to kill you?" <Jelarthna> ::to Glossaria:: I know you don't have anything to worry about here... but who would be trying to kill you? And why? And how did you find out? * Rhys nudges Talarin's coin back to him. "First meade is on the house, by the way." <Glossaria> ::nodding, glancing sidelong at Talarin and frowning faintly for a moment as if trying to recall something, turning back to Jel and Meghan:: Apparently so, yes. We decided to let them, so we could get some proof on them to take to the Dragons. * Talarin bows again before accepting the mug. "I am called Talarin. Your kindness is to thank." He drinks tentatively from his mug, then with greater enthusiasm. <Jelarthna> ::to Codex:: So what exactly are you supposed to do? Investigate, or act? * Rhys fiddles around and puts a frosty red concoction in front of Glossaria. "Here you go. Strawberry Daiquiri." <Codex> Oh, have you started practicing demonic arts since last we met? * Tyl takes a quick look at Talarin... * Meghan points at Gloss's glass "They are very good in the summertime" <Tyl> No... * Talarin notices Tyl's glance and smiles warmly. "I am to be ap... apologizing for my speech poor. I am learning yet your language." <Glossaria> ::giving Talarin a second, longer glance, looking back to her friends again:: The group of young nobles Vallel has been fighting? Thank you, Rhys. ::taking a small sip and lighting up with delight at the taste:: This is wonderful! <Jelarthna> *let them* kill you? ::shakes his head:: Or do you mean let them try? <Codex> Investigate. I'm supposed to interview her and her students, observe her classes for a few weeks, examine some of the ::gestures with his hands:: victims. That sort of thing. Then go and give my report. <Tyl> ::nods:: Nice to meet you, sir. I am called Tyl'gainia Nightstorm. <Glossaria> I'm sorry... I was saying... well, yes, let them try. Vallel caught a whiff of it... apparently, I'm an evil, inhuman creature with strange and unpredictable powers and so I must be destroyed. ::this said in a dry, rather businesslike tone:: <Talarin> ::bows very deeply:: Honored I am to be learning your name. Beautiful it is to the lady gracing, yes? ::he frowns:: I think I am not saying correctly. <Jelarthna> ::nods at Codex:: I see. ::smiles:: You're not going to find anything demonic there. Just different. Funny how mages with all their power are even more afraid than normal folk. ::chuckles:: <Tyl> ::grins, flattered:: Thank you... you said it just fine... * Meghan is wearing a dark green dress and her stone necklace is nestled within the folds of the dress. She is also wearing a shorter silver necklace with a fancy M pendant <Jelarthna> ::bows to Talarin:: Nice to meet you, you're speaking just fine. ::smiles warmly and offers his hand:: I am Jelarthna. <Talarin> ::smiles, then turns to Bai:: Pleased I am to be learning your name, sir. ::he bows briefly:: <Meghan> It's a very good idea. Hopefully will bring all this to an end. LEt me know if there is anything I can do to help you Gloss <Talarin> ::looks at Jel's outstretched hand quizzically for a moment, then hesitantly places his own in it:: It is done here this, yes? <Jelarthna> ::smiles and shakes the newcomer's hand:: That is the custom, yes. It's not mine originally, but I've adopted it. <Talarin> ::smiles, somewhat relieved:: Not offense I am giving wish. I am... far from home, yes? <Jelarthna> ::to Glossaria:: Have the dragons provided a bodyguard or something? Or several? I can't say I like that idea... <Jelarthna> Where are you from? And don't worry here... we meet people from very far away indeed. * Bai sips his water. <Meghan> takes another sip of her wine <Glossaria> ::frowning as she cocks an ear towards Talarin:: That speech pattern is familiar, somehow.... <Glossaria> ::shaking her head again:: No, they haven't. But. ::turning her back to Jelarthna:: Got a knife? Stab me in the back. Go ahead. ::smiling:: <Tyl> Well... it's nice to know I'm not going to have a biased observer... but will they accept your word for it, since you and I've known each other for years... ::counts on her fingers:: Altho I haven't seen you in about seven... <Jelarthna> ::nods thoughtfully:: It sounds vaguely familiar to me as well... <Jelarthna> ::grins at Glossaria:: I don't think so. I assume you have some sort of magical defense up? <Talarin> ::bows deeply to Glossaria:: I am honored. To be the subject of study by a lady the scholar *and* so beautiful is befar... no.. beyond? Beyond, yes? * Codex winks at Tyl, "I won't tell if you won't." <Tyl> ::eyes him suspiciously:: Did you volunteer for this? * Jelarthna grins at Codex <Glossaria> ::smiling and blushing a little:: Beyond, yes. Where did you say you were from? <Talarin> ::smiles:: Away and a... afar? ::puzzling:: Why is it "beyond" but "afar". Silly language. Afar, I am from. <Glossaria> ::turning back to Jel, sipping her drink:: Yes, I do. Actually, I have ever since I was kidnapped last time, but I've improved on them somewhat in light of the new danger. * Meghan sighs softly and finished her glass of wine * Codex shakes his head, "Nope." Gestures to his hair, "After this I've found I get picked for a lot of these policy issues." <Tyl> Anyway ::indicates Meghan:: This is Meghan, the newest of my students... <Glossaria> Common is merely complicated by the vast number of differently-rooted parent languages that feed it, which gives us a wider variety of synonyms and shadings of meaning to choose from than purer tongues generally have at their disposal. Simple, really. * Meghan looks up on hearing her name and smiles at Talarin <Meghan> Very nice to meet you <Talarin> ::blinks, then laughs:: Lady, your words dazzle as ears cannot eyes meet for understanding, yes! * Codex nods his head at Meghan, "A pleasure." <Jelarthna> ::grins at Talarin:: Do you know Jaret? <Talarin> ::turns to Meghan and bows:: Ah, beauty surrounds and abounds! To be dying tonight my pleasure complete! <Tyl> I've only got fourteen students... I really don't know what all this fuss is about. <Talarin> ::to Jel:: I am knowing not a Jhar-het, my sorrow. <Jelarthna> ::to Glossaria:: We should talk about your magical defenses a bit at some point... I'm not very good at making them, but I know quite a bit about taking them down. Perhaps I'll be able to help a bit... And usually there's only so much you can set up against mundane weaponry, much less magical... <Tyl> ::raises an eyebrow at Tal:: Very... poetic, friend... * Glossaria frowns and thinks, rubbing her nose with one finger as she flips through her notebook. * Codex shrugs, "I have no idea. But you have to admit, some of the things you do can be pretty scary." <Jelarthna> ::grins at Talarin again:: Just thought I'd ask. You remind me just a little of him <Tyl> ::snorts:: Oh, and fireballs are nice tame things... really... <Glossaria> ::nods to Jel:: I would appreciate that. My assailants aren't magical, as far as we can ascertain, but they may hire some help. But I do have a few sure-fire wards for physical attack. <Talarin> ::grins triumphantly at Tyl:: Ah, lovely Tyl'Gah-nia! But to be a poet in language unlearned is to not dream! <Jelarthna> ::laughs:: But fireballs are things mages know how to do, and to control. They're known... <Tyl> ::grins openly at the enthusiastic man:: <Codex> looks at Tyl, "Have you forgotten when that warehouse caught fire with us inside it. You did that ghost number of yours, walked through the flaming walls and scared off all the pedestrians." <Talarin> In words of home, the sentences fair, yes? To be making the lovely women swoon, so revive to pleasure, yes? <Tyl> ::back to Codex:: Yeah, I remember... of course, I saved all of our lives... <Codex> Never argued that point. <Jelarthna> ::to Gloss:: If they're the rich-boys that have been bothering Vallel, then they're definitely going to have the money to get access to some magical help. You can't stop everything. The idea is just to delay long enough to get away, or get help. <Glossaria> Aha! ::pulling her omnipresent pencil from behind her ear, she studies her notes for a moment longer before jotting a few phrases down onto a fresh page, ripping it from her notebook, and rolling it into a little ball:: <Glossaria> Actually, my idea was to delay long enough for them to be caught in the act of attempted murder. <Tyl> ::sighs:: Do you think they'll listen to you? <Jelarthna> ::grins down at Tyl:: Do a lot of life saving, do you dear? <Meghan> Rhys could I get another glass of wine please <Rhys> Of course, Meghan. ::refills Meghan's glass:: <Rhys> Would anyone else care for more? * Glossaria takes a sip of daiquiri and pops the paper ball into her mouth, chewing thoughtfully. * Tyl taps her empty rum glass. "Please..." * Rhys refills Tyl's glass. * Codex shrugs, "The temple of Mystra probably will. The Mage's Guild...I have no idea." <Tyl> ::to Jel:: You know I try... <Glossaria> Thank you, Rhys, but I think this will hold me all night. Is they always this large? <Jelarthna> No offense Glossaria, but I'd put your life first and catching the miscreants second. ::winks:: <Codex> I'll have the house specialty. <Jelarthna> more? ::looks down:: oops, how about some? Ale, please? <Rhys> Usually. It's a warm weather drink, and the larger it is, the longer it stays cold. Sorry I didn't serve it smaller, considering current weather conditions. <Rhys> Coming right up, Jelarthna. <Jelarthna> ::hugs Tyl's shoulders fondly:: The mage guild here are pretty bad, even for their sort. <Talarin> ::eyes Glossaria curiously for a moment, then raises his mug:: I am to a pledge... no... toast! I am to a toast offer! To toast the beauty and wit of ladies this night, yes? * Rhys pulls a mug of ale for Jelarthna from the taps, and sets the mug in front of him. <Glossaria> That's alright, it's wonderful. ::swallowing her wad of paper, washing it down with another swallow of daiquiri:: <Tyl> ::raises her glass:: To the sweet words of a charming stranger. Your very good health, sir. * Meghan takes a sip of her wine seeming lost in her own thoughts <Jelarthna> Thank you, Rhys. ::smiles and raises the mug, looking around and smiling at Meghan, Glossaria, and Tyl:: I'll drink to that! <Glossaria> ::cocks her head to one side, studying Talarin for a moment, and says something in a foreign tongue:: * Talarin smiles widely and bows elegantly toward each of the ladies present, then drinks deeply from his meade. * Glossaria lifts her glass and takes another sip, smiling. * Jelarthna takes a deep drink of the ale, then gasps and sputters a little and grins sheepishly <Jelarthna> Been too long, I think. ::chuckles at himself and takes a smaller sip:: * Talarin stares at Glossaria for a long moment, his eyes open wide. Hesitantly, he approaches her and falls (gracefully, of course) to one knee, replying to her in the same tongue in which she spoke. His face bears an attitude of almost desperate hope. <Tyl> So, *exactly* what are you looking for? Because we might need to discuss some of the stranger things going on in my life... * Jelarthna watches the newcomer and Glossaria with interest for a moment, then turns to Meghan. "So how are you holding up, Meghan? * Meghan takes her glass of wine and slowly walks to the windows looking out and then back to the bar watching Talarin and Gloss curiously as she walks back towards the bar * Meghan smiles softly st Jel "I'm doing ok Jelarthna thanks" <Jelarthna> ::nods a little at Meghan:: Looking for someone? * Meghan shakes her head <Meghan> No not really <Codex> Evidence of association with infernals or similar great evils. <Jelarthna> ::grins at Tyl:: Stranger things? What counts? <Tyl> What doesn't? <Tyl> Define... association. * Jelarthna raises an eyebrow at Meghan and sips his ale.. the mug imitates the expression comically * Glossaria looks rather taken aback, and stammers a response in the same tongue. <Jelarthna> ::gives Tyl's hand a squeeze:: As long as I don't count as normal. ::chuckle:: * Meghan winks at Jel and puts a more cheerful expression on her face * Codex frowns, "I'm not really certain. Learning their arts, helping them sow evil, participating in their revels, that sort of thing." <Tyl> Ah... so, just being friends with one doesn't count? ::grins sardonically:: <Jelarthna> back at Meghan <Jelarthna> Infernal revels? ::snickers a little:: <Talarin> ::The look that crosses Talarin's face at Gloss's answer races from hope to shock to joy to shock and back again.:: It is to not be that the search finished! Please, to be, beautiful angel, your mistress found, yes? * Codex gets a shocked expression on his face, "Friends with one?!? What in Mystra's name has happened to you?" <Jelarthna> ::watches Talarin with interest, glancing at Glossaria:: Search? <Tyl> It's not really as bad as it sounds... <Codex> Not as bad as it sounds!?! <Glossaria> ::shrugging helplessly and exchanging a look with Jel:: Ummm... ::saying something else in the same language:: <Jelarthna> ::squeezes Tyl's hand and half-smiles at Codex:: Err.. I happened, actually. <Tyl> I was just going to say it's all your fault... ::smiles at Jel:: * Jelarthna smiles back * Codex tries to scoot away from Jel, falls off his stool, hits his head on the bar, then falls to the floor. <Talarin> ::stands up again, but responds to Gloss more calmly:: <Jelarthna> Whoa! ::moves quickly to the fallen Codex:: Are you alright? <Tyl> Well, you haven't gotten any less clumsy ::reaches down to help him up:: He's not evil... just... a little different. <Jelarthna> ::shakes his head:: Definitely not evil. <Codex> ACK! ::Codex scoots as far away from Jel and the bar, wall, stools, and patrons permit, making warding gestures and casting protective spells the entire time.:: <Rhys> Codex! Relax, please. * Meghan watches Codex a bit curiously <Jelarthna> ::looks puzzles, then laughs:: Oh no, not *me*. * Jelarthna holds up his hands in a placating gesture <Codex> You all are friends with demons and you want me to RELAX!!! * Rhys leans over the bar. "I said relax, *please*. And cease with the spellcasting. It's moderately insulting." <Glossaria> But he's a *nice* demon. He hunts other demons! <Jelarthna> I've never met a halfling priest of Mystra, and you've never met a good demon. That doesn't mean they don't exist. ::chuckles:: <Tyl> Reactionary... * Xarroch slams open the door and squeezes inside, looking around at the number of people in mild interest <Glossaria> ::looking at Talarin somewhat cautiously:: Close? Um... maybe. <Rhys> Evening, Xarroch. Mind the furniture and the panicking halfling. <Codex> I need a drink. With my luck Merryvale's going to walk through that door any minute now, and then some god I've never even heard of will force me to get something from some other god, who'll want something from some other god....::Codex goes into a tirade, obviously oblivious to the rest of the world.:: * Meghan looks up as Xarroch enters an expression of joy crossing her face and she hops down from her stool and runs over to him hugging him <Tyl> Come here... sit down. Have some rum... * Rhys tops off Tyl's glass. * Xarroch grins at Rhys and the panicked halfling, then looks a little shocked and hugs Meghan <Xarroch> Hello, little Meg! ::pauses for a moment then looks around:: Good evening, everyone. * Bai glances between Codex, Xarroch, and Meghan, then picks up his staff. * Tyl looks over at Xarroch... "Ears burning?" * Jelarthna picks up Codex's stool and rights it for him with a smile * Codex stops in mid-tirade, "Drink, yes, drink." * Talarin sits near Glossaria. "Of course, you are right to be protecting... But... she names not to her devoted my name? You are not hearing it?" <Tyl> Here. ::hands him her rum:: <Xarroch> ::looks oddly at Tyl:: No. I could do that but it would set my hair on fire. <Meghan> Evening Xarroch ::smiling up at him:: * Xarroch smiles back down at Meghan <Glossaria> Um... actually, sir, you haven't given your name. * Codex unsteadily climbs the stool, takes Tyl's glass and downs the whole thing, "More." <Tyl> It's an expression. It sort of means we were just talking about you... * Rhys refills Tyl's glass, and watches the halfling with amusement. * Codex downs the second glass, "More." <Tyl> ::glances at Rhys:: This would be where I learned to drink... ::grins:: * Meghan glances over at Codex curiously and then looks to Tyl <Xarroch> Ahhh! Ears burning. How odd. ::chuckles a little:: No, actually I came mainly to check on Meghan. ::looks down at her again:: * Rhys fills Tyl's glass a third time. <Glossaria> ::getting a bright idea... one almost can see the candle going on over her head:: Rhys... would you allow Master Codex here to cast one simple cleric spell on Xarroch? With your permission, Xarroch. <Talarin> ::stands, aghast:: Not to be...! Most humble sorry, I am certain you hearing when I to the keeper... But my own foolish... ::he bows even lower, astonishingly graceful:: Kevil Talarin, master to singing. <Xarroch> ::shrugs:: I do not mind. ::grins:: <Rhys> It depends what that spell is, Glossaria. "Invert", for example, would be right out. <Xarroch> ::laughs:: And I might take offense at that, as well. Why do you want the halfling to try to spell me? More research? <Glossaria> Kevil! ::smiling:: Kevil the bard, of *course*!! * Codex slams back the drink, "More." <Jelarthna> ::sips his ale and watches Codex down the rum:: Maybe you need a glass of your own now, dear. ::grins at Tyl:: <Talarin> ::Talarin's face lights with joy:: She is to be speaking my name, yes? <Glossaria> ::shaking her head at Rhys:: No, much simpler than that. Know Alignment. * Rhys reaches under the bar and pulls out a stone mug, which he fills halfway with dwarven spirits. "If you're not going to taste what you're drinking, you might as well not bother with taste to begin with." <Tyl> I'm fine... we used to drink together, but I don't think I could keep up any more. <Glossaria> ::smiling, blushing a little again:: Yes, definitely. <Rhys> If Xarroch has no objections. * Codex takes the mug and takes a deep drink. * Meghan slides back onto her stool and finishes her wine <Glossaria> Xarroch? Would you mind if Master Codex here cast a know alignment spell on you? I think it would solve this difficulty. <Jelarthna> ::grins at Tyl:: Just as well... as nice as carrying you can be, I don't want to do it all the way home. <Xarroch> I would not mind. ::grins a little:: * Xarroch walks Meghan back over to her seat and sets her there and stands nearby <Talarin> And so you take your mistress I to, yes? My quest to resolve her, yes? <Tyl> ::mock swoons into Jel's arms:: Oh, why not? <Glossaria> Well, let me ask her first, but yes. ::smiling at Talarin:: <Jelarthna> ::catches Tyl with a smile:: well.. as long as you're awake when we get there. ::winks:: <Glossaria> But, if you'll give me a moment.... Master Codex? ::wiggling her fingers in front of him to get his attention:: <Talarin> ::sinks back onto a barstool:: Of course but her dearest to see! * Xarroch puts a comforting hand on Meghan's shoulder <Jelarthna> ::looks oddly at Talarin:: Are you talking about Zoya? <Glossaria> Well... ::biting her lip for a moment, thinking of Marten:: Yes, of course. <Glossaria> Yes, Jel, he is. <Glossaria> Excuse me... Master Codex? ::peering anxiously at him:: * Codex looks at Glossaria in a daze, "Yes?" <Jelarthna> ::smiles at Talarin:: Goodness, a distant friend of Zoya's! Even nicer to meet you, then. <Glossaria> Would you do me the honor of casting a Know Alignment spell on Xarroch, here, please? ::creasing her forehead:: You *are* a cleric, are you not? <Glossaria> ::nudging Jel, speaking out of the side of her mouth:: Not so distant, Jel. * Codex turns to Xarroch and casts the spell. * Codex blinks and casts the spell again. <Talarin> ::beams at Jel:: You are also to be friend, yes? To the... ::he spins back to Glossaria:: You are to saying she is *BOUND*? <Jelarthna> oh? ::looking at Gloss curiously:: * Codex grabs his mug and downs the rest of it, "MORE!" * Rhys refills Codex's mug with spirits. <Glossaria> ::nodding to Talarin:: Yes, she is. <Tyl> ::shakes her head:: Is this working? * Codex takes another deep drink. <Glossaria> ::looking crestfallen as Codex goes back to the bottle:: I thought it would help.... <Jelarthna> ::nods at Talarin:: I am a good friend of Zoya's yes. I was even her student for a while. <Talarin> But... But Antonov is *dead*. * Xarroch watches Codex go back to drinking and laughs * Codex looks at Tyl, "This is going to be like Merrivale, or the skeletons, or that time we had to run all over the planes isn't it." <Jelarthna> Antonov? * Meghan looks between Codex and Xarroch <Glossaria> ::nodding:: Yes, he is. That was what made the ceremony particularly difficult. <Tyl> He's actually quite... he's been very helpful... <Glossaria> Mistress Zoya's old master. <Jelarthna> Oh... ::trails off, looking thoughtful:: * Talarin's jaw drops. "She is to... from death? To Bind her? She lives yet?" <Tyl> Well, I hope it's not as bad as the time we had to run all over the planes. ::shudders:: I still have nightmares about that. <Xarroch> ::smiles down at Meghan:: See? nothing to worry over. <Glossaria> ::nodding:: She-- ::sighs:: It's a long story, and it's not entirely mine to tell. One moment, let me tell her you're here. <Jelarthna> ::squeezes Tyl's hand:: If you want to go planes hopping, I can take you. There are plenty of safe places. * Meghan glances up and smiles slightly nodding <Glossaria> Rhys? One tiny little communications spell? Do you mind? * Codex lets go of his mug and takes Tyl's hand, "Where can I buy beer? By the barrel I mean." <Rhys> Go right ahead. <Tyl> Don't worry... the Hall doesn't run out of beer. <Talarin> ::to himself:: The need... And I not to be here and stand her back... ::his head drops for a moment as he contemplates worlds within the bartop:: <Jelarthna> ::Looks a little worried at Codex:: Do you think that's a good idea? It's not going to help much. <Xarroch> So how are you holding up, little Meg? ::looks slightly more serious:: Have you made a decision yet? <Codex> Well being sober certainly did help any. <Tyl> You know, the last time he was this upset, he crawled into a barrel and nailed the lid on after himself... <Glossaria> Thank you. ::pulls a paper napkin to her, jotting a quick note on it before rolling it up and chowing down:: * Jelarthna stifles a laugh * Meghan nods slightly <Jelarthna> And did *that* help? <Meghan> I have some ideas, but I need to talk to Tyl about them first <Tyl> ::looks over at Meghan:: <Xarroch> ::nods and looks over at Tyl:: Alright. Just let me know what, and when you are ready. <Codex> Yes, she couldn't steal my holy symbol, there weren't any skeletons thinking that I'd be just the thing to fatten them up, no strange gods making demands on me.... <Glossaria> ::making a face:: Ew. Bleach. ::coughing a moment before lifting a finger, tracing an oval in the air, and reciting words that float silver from her lips to scroll and curlicue around the edge of the oval. A mist forms and clears in its center, showing rough stone walls:: Mistress? <Jelarthna> ::laughs again:: In that case I'll help you find a barrel of beer. ::grins at Codex:: <Tyl> ::turns back to Jel:: He forgets to mention that he ruined a very nice carpet in the process... <Jelarthna> ::looks over at Tyl and grins:: Did you really steal his holy symbol? <Tyl> I didn't... Merrivale did. <Codex> It wasn't our carpet, besides, it's not as if Yaddah didn't cause problems as well. <Jelarthna> oh, okay. What kind of carpet? <Tyl> Moonshae, I think. <Xarroch> What sort of thing did you have in mind, Meghan? Perhaps I could help as well? * Jelarthna chuckles <Jelarthna> I'd like to hear some more about your adventures with Tyl when you crawl out of your barrel, Codex. ::grins:: <Codex> If it was Moonshae then it was hardly ruined. You know how Eljorin drank. * Glossaria cocks her head at a tinkling, tinny sound originating from the floating oval, comprehensible, apparently, only to her own ears. "Yes, I know you wanted to rest, but I thought you might like to know... Master Kevil? He's here." * Jelarthna watches Glossaria curiously * Xarroch looks over at Glossaria's communication with a little interest. <Tyl> ::nods:: Yeah. I spent most of my time with Codex and Eljorin. And I drink the least of the three of us. <Meghan> Well it is mostly Jaret's idea. He suggested that we use psionics to alter the man so that he can't harm anyone anymore <Jelarthna> ::looks at the barrel-obsession halfling and grins:: Sounds like that could still be quite a lot! <Codex> Don't tell me you didn't need a drink or two after some of the place we went, and some of the people we met. <Tyl> I'm not criticizing... ::smiles:: I still drink rather a good deal more than I probably should. <Bai> If I may ask, why are you seeking to punish this man? And for that matter why are you consulting a demon rather than the authorities? <Glossaria> ::winces a little at a louder explanation, like the tolling of bells to a nearby listener:: Yes, Master Kevil. Here at the Hall. Yes, now. Would it be alright if-- yes. Yes, I thought you'd say that. ::smiling a little:: Yes, of course." <Xarroch> Hmmm. An interesting idea. ::chuckles deeply:: Not the sort of thing I would do, though. I'm assuming you don't want me to kill him, then? * Meghan looks down at the floor closing her eyes after a moment a tear rolls down her cheek and falls onto the floor <Glossaria> ::listening for a moment more:: Yes. Yes, really. Of course, Mistress. Mistress, my silver's about to run out, I really must go. Yes, yes I will. See you later, Mistress." * Talarin leans over to see if he can see anything in Glossaria's oval just as it closes. <Xarroch> ::puts his hands on Meghan's shoulders:: It's alright, little Meg. * Meghan runs her hand across her cheek wiping away the tear and forces a smile <Xarroch> ::looks at Bai:: This being's crimes are against Meghan. I don't care about your authorities. As far as I am concerned it is for her to decide. * Glossaria waves a hand over the oval, causing it to vanish from view, holding a last, quick, fuzzy image of Zoya's face. A silver coin, much corroded and on the point of crumbling, drops from the air into her hand and crumbles into black powder. <Jelarthna> ::grins:: Interesting. It's like paying for talking over a distance. <Glossaria> Well, that's the material component for that particular spell, yes. <Tyl> So... ::grins at Codex:: Do I count as evil and consulting with foul demons? * Talarin sighs at his glimpse of Zoya. "Her hair... how long to be white?" <Glossaria> ::turning to Talarin:: Mistress Zoya was understandably a bit shocked, but she says she would be quite pleased to see you again. I'll take you home with me. * Talarin looks quite happy at this news. <Jelarthna> Usually it's something more esoteric.. I like that you can pay directly. ::grins:: <Glossaria> Her hair? Oh, that changed with... ::sighing:: Well, that's another long story, I'm afraid. <Codex> You know Tyl, stuff like this didn't happen to me when I gave up adventuring. Is it always like this outside of the Temple, or just when I'm around you? <Talarin> ::smiles:: We long to be talking, yes? <Talarin> We are going when? <Tyl> ::shakes her head:: Probably just when you are around me... especially here... ::indicates the Hall:: <Glossaria> ::puzzling this out:: Do you mean you want to talk, or that you'll talk a long time? <Jelarthna> ::looks at Tyl and Codex, then over at Talarin and Gloss:: Mind if I come along? <Xarroch> ::looks around and smiles widely:: This place does seem to attract... oddities. ::laughs:: <Glossaria> ::glancing out the window at the height of the moon:: Um... may I finish my drink? then we can go. <Talarin> ::frowns:: Ah, my foolishness... To be talking well deep into the night, yes? Talk... a long time? * Meghan yawns <Talarin> Ah, but of course, beautiful angel. I to be making my farewells to the new friends, yes? <Glossaria> ::nodding:: Ah, I understand, yes. * Tyl nudges Jelarthna. * Codex shakes his head, "No, I don't think that counts against you. Though how I'm going to explain it to anyone is beyond me." <Tyl> Zoya might like to have some time alone with her friend. <Tyl> ::to Codex:: I won't say anything if you won't. ::winks:: <Glossaria> ::nods:: Jel, of course you'd be welcome, if you want to come. You know the Tower door is always open to you. Well, when there *is* a door, I mean. * Jelarthna whispers something to Tyl, then grins at Glossaria <Jelarthna> I actually like when there isn't one. More challenging! <Glossaria> ::taking a large gulp of her daiquiri, getting a pained look on her face as the freeze goes straight to her head, and continuing to drink at a more sedate pace:: * Meghan finishes her wine <Rhys> Can I get you more wine, Meghan? * Meghan shakes her head * Tyl nods to Jel. "You're probably right." * Talarin steps over to Meghan and bows. "To understand - hearing talk, yes? - you are recently hurt. Most terrible is, such loveliness to mar. I am yours commanding, if required, yes? Else, my deep honor to have... met, yes?" * Codex frowns, "I'm afraid I'm probably going to have to. If you get any bright ideas, let me know. You were always the one who talked us out of trouble. As opposed to Eljorin talking us into it." <Meghan> No thank you <Glossaria> Oh! True, Tyl, I'm sorry. Jel, she's probably right. <Jelarthna> I'm sure I won't stay long, love. * Meghan smiles warmly at Talarin <Meghan> So nice to have met you too <Glossaria> ::sighs, as she watches the exchange between Meghan and Talarin:: How does she do it? <Xarroch> Do what, worm-girl? <Tyl> ::turns to Xarroch:: Are you actually an infernal? <Glossaria> ::looking from Meghan to Xarroch:: Um... never mind, Xarroch. <Talarin> ::smiles at Meghan, then turns to Tyl:: Beautiful lady, my honor to have known your name. Please to be my name remembering now, yes? <Xarroch> ::looks at Tyl with interest:: What exactly do you mean? * Xarroch raises an eyebrow curiously at Glossaria * Jelarthna finishes off his ale <Glossaria> ::sliding down in her seat a little, paying close attention to her daiquiri:: * Bai sips his water. * Meghan walks over to Gloss and gently lays a hand on her shoulder <Tyl> Well, I hate to... ::shakes her head:: Ug. this is hard to explain. My friendship with you is bringing down some bad... people think you're helping me do evil things. Or I'm helping you do evil things. <Meghan> If you have a chance sometime this week we should have a chat <Glossaria> ::starting a little guiltily, before straightening up and smiling:: Whenever you like, Meghan. ::glancing over to where Talarin is saying his goodbyes:: I think Mistress Zoya will be rather busy this week, so I should have a good deal of free time. <Tyl> Good evening, Master Kevil... it was my pleasure making your acquaintance... <Talarin> ::bows to Tyl, then turns to Jel:: Friend to dearest friend, yes? I am happy to you. More to talk later, yes? ::he almost bows, then remembers and offers his hand:: <Meghan> ::smiles warmly:: I will come by the tower then <Xarroch> ::nods at Tyl:: I understand. My origins are among the infernals, but I am not truly one of them. * Jelarthna smiles and bows back to Talarin, then shakes his hand * Meghan pulls her cloak around herself and goes to stand by Xarroch patiently <Jelarthna> I actually want to walk with you and Glossaria to the Tower, at least. I wanted to talk to her about something. ::smiles at Gloss:: * Talarin bows in good humor to Bai and Codex, then offers a somewhat more tentative bow to Xarroch before turning to the bar. "Most excellent drink is, good sir. Pay my fill drunk, yes?" <Glossaria> ::finishing her drink with a loud slurp, and licking away the strawberry moustache as she stands:: Brrr... did it suddenly get cold in here? <Rhys> You're paid in full. Consider it a welcome to Marsember present. <Xarroch> ::grins down at Meghan, then looks around the Hall, smirking just little at Bai:: Good night, my friends. * Bai returns Talarin's bow and speaks in the language Talarin and Glossaria were using earlier. * Talarin bows to Rhys. "My gratitude, then, sir. Again you will see me, yes!" <Rhys> I have no doubt of that, sir. <Tyl> Well, come on Codex. I'll show you around the school. If it helps any, Xarroch's just my friend. He doesn't teach at the school or anything. * Talarin looks at Bai with astonishment, then answers in kind, bowing again. <Glossaria> ::raises her eyebrows at Bai:: M'lord Bai! I never knew you were a linguist! <Bai> It was given to me as a gift to assist in my priestly duties. * Xarroch opens the door with slightly more care (not slamming it as much) and exits <Glossaria> Gift--? Ah. Tongues? * Meghan follows Xarroch out waving goodnight to all <Glossaria> Goodnight, Meghan, see you later this week! * Bai replies to Talarin. <Talarin> ::to Glossaria:: Fairest of angels, you are taking me home this, yes? And friend Jelarthna to join? * Jelarthna digs out a small pouch and places it on the counter, then pats the mug gently and shoos it over to Rhys * Rhys practically zings the pouch back at Jelarthna. "You, sir, have a healthy credit here you still have to drink your way through." * Codex nods and hops off the stool. "Good idea, but we probably shouldn't take too long. After all I have to look busy for weeks, and it sounds like you and Jelarthna already have plans for the evening." <Jelarthna> ::catches the pouch and grins:: Oh, alright. ::laughs:: <Glossaria> ::nodding:: As soon as you're ready, Master Kevil. Coming, Jel? <Tyl> Well, since Meghan is just starting, you can follow her through everything... registration, testing, placement... <Codex> Knocking the visiting priest unconscious? <Jelarthna> Sure am! ::gives Tyl a quick kiss and a smile:: I won't be long, love. ::bounces over to the door with Glossaria and Talarin:: <Glossaria> ::grinning at Tyl:: That's for higher-level students. Ask my fiance for that one. <Tyl> I don't think she will... she's a very nice girl. * Talarin is at the door, only innate grace saving him from dancing with anticipation. "We to going as soon as you, angel of light. <Tyl> ::looks at Talarin:: Well, doesn't Zoya get the cute ones? <Glossaria> :blushing:: You really don't have to call me that, you know. Glossaria is fine. Or just Gloss. * Jelarthna opens the door for Talarin and Glossaria, sweeping into an elegant bow * Codex looks at Tyl, "You KNOW it's going to happen. If it's not one of your student by accident, then it's going to be someone from the Mage's Guild aiming for you, or a blue and silver dragon familiar of a chaos god, or something." <Jelarthna> Oh I don't know, I think "angel of light" sounds pretty nice. <Glossaria> ::blushing deeper at Tyl's comment:: Shall we go, gentleman? * Talarin grins at Tyl and winks. "You are to wishing me, lovely lady? But command me, and yours I am... But tomorrow." He smiles and leaves with Glossaria and Jelarthna. <Tyl> We'll make sure you don't run into Yb while you're visiting... <Jelarthna> ::blows A kiss to Tyl:: Not *all*. ::grins and follows them outside:: * Tyl catches the kiss. * Codex gestures towards the door, "After you Tyl." <Rhys> Good night, everyone. <Glossaria> ::shaking her head:: Scoundrels. The lot of them. Romantic scoundrels. <Tyl> ::puts a few small gold coins on the bar:: Send some beer over to the mansion, will you? * Glossaria sighs as she follows the men out. <Rhys> Of course, Tyl. <Tyl> Thanks. This way, Codex. ::walks out the door:: * Codex follows Tyl out. * Bai finishes his water and shakes his head, "I don't know if I need to be spending more or less time here. Goodnight Rhys." <Rhys> Good night, Bai. * Bai heads out the door. * Rhys follows Bai to the door and locks it behind him, clears the bar and tables of glasses, and heads into the kitchen. |
