* Nacheyla walks in, talking quietly with the gold star which constantly rotates around her head.

<Nacheyla> ::lights the candles with a quick wave of her hand:: Hall's Open

* Nacheyla sits down behind the bar and pours herself an ale

* Lisl enters and hangs a dew-heavy cloak on a peg by the fire to steam.

<Nacheyla> Good evening, Lisl... 'kick?

<Lisl> Evening, Nacheyla! How goes it?

<Lisl> Thank you, but I think I'd prefer a snifter of Sembian, tonight.

<Nacheyla> It goes quite well... ::grins::

<Nacheyla> ::pours a small glass of brandy:: Here you go.

<Lisl> It's getting chilly out there. My thanks. ::accepting the glass, rolling it around in her palm, and taking a tiny sip:: Ah. The perfect thing.

* Jelarthna glides in, smoothly hanging his cloak, sketching a quick bow to Lisl and Nacheyla

<Jelarthna> Good evening, ladies! ::smiles and approaches the bar::

* Lisl gives Jel an idle "Yeah, yeah, same to you" gesture.

* Meghan walks into the hall her arms wrapped around her

<Nacheyla> Good evening, Master Jelarthna... fey wine? I have some just in... it's only about two hundred years old, but it should be okay...

* Jelarthna grins at Lisl

<Meghan> Wow it's gettin' cold out there ::takes a seat at the bar::

<Jelarthna> only two hundred? Older than I am, at least... ::smiles:: Please.

<Jelarthna> ::looks around:: Good evening, Lady Meghan. ::smiles and bows his head::

<Nacheyla> ::pours him a glass:: Well, now don't I feel old? I'm older than an elf... how strange...

<Meghan> Evening Nacheyla ::glances over at Lisl:: Hey Lisl

* Meghan grins at Jel

<Meghan> Good evening Jelarthna

* Jelarthna chuckles at Nacheyla

<Lisl> 'Evening, Meghan. Chilly? Have a glass of this, it'll warm you up in a hurry. ::gesturing to her snifter of Sembian brandy:: Or... Nach, do we have any of that cinnamon liqueur left?

<Lisl> ::grinning:: Yeah, but he's just a *baby* elf, Nach.

<Nacheyla> ::pokes around:: I think so... ah! Here it is... I think. ::pours a glass of something red::

<Jelarthna> ::Looks suspiciously at Lisl's drink:: Go with the cinnamon, Meghan... ::chuckle::

* Meghan nods smiling

<Meghan> Cinnamon sounds good Nach

<Jelarthna> ::winks at Lisl:: goo-goo! ::sips his wine::

<Lisl> ::making a face at Jel:: I'm not drinking 'kick, Jel. This is a perfectly acceptable drink in the highest of social circles. So nyah.

<Jelarthna> ::bows deeply to Lisl with a bit of a smirk:: Apologies, Lady. I forgot how refined you are.

* Meghan chuckles

* Jelarthna winks at Meghan

<Lisl> ::snorts:: Well, it's easy to make the mistake when you compare me to the company I keep, I suppose. No offense, Meghan, Nach.

<Meghan> Gee Lisl I seem to notice that the men seem to get extra pleasure out of bowing to you

* Lisl grins wickedly at Jel.

* Jelarthna grins good-naturedly

<Meghan> Oh non taken. I would hardly call myself refined

* Nacheyla hands Meghan a glass full of dark red liquor

<Lisl> ::mildly:: That's because they know I won't let it go to my head. ::sipping her brandy::

<Jelarthna> And partly because the lady occasionally threatens us bowers with physical violence. ::winks::

* Meghan grins and takes a sip of her drink

<Meghan> mmm... not to bad

<Lisl> ::even more mildly:: Who says I only threaten?

<Jelarthna> ::looks at the red drink:: A bit strong for my taste, if I recall...

<Nacheyla> ::gives Lisl a mock glare:: No fighting inside... I just had the floor mopped today.

<Jelarthna> ::grins at Lisl:: You haven't attacked me yet, at least...

<Lisl> I wouldn't *dream* of getting blood on your floor, Nacheyla. Well, not if I could avoid it. ::grinning::

* Meghan smiles at Nach

<Jelarthna> No fighting, Nacheyla. ::grins back::

<Lisl> Besides, this lad loses enough of it without my help. ::mock-scowling at Jel::

* Jelarthna tries to look sheepish and fails

<Jelarthna> I'm actually remarkably well healed just now... maybe it's time to go looking again? ::looks thoughtful::

<Nacheyla> Please don't... I don't think I could stand another two months of Mistress Tyl sulking all the time...

<Lisl> Mention that to Tyl, and she'll fix that little problem for you, I'm sure....

* Jelarthna laughs

<Jelarthna> Two good reasons not to go traipsing off just now, actually... ::smiles::

<Lisl> Tyl, and Tyl?

* Meghan laughs

<Jelarthna> ::nods:: Yes!

<Lisl> ::frowns and puts down her drink, moving over to Jel:: That's odd... Jelarthna, what *have* you got on your tongue?

* Jelarthna raises an eyebrow and considers Lisl suspiciously

<Nacheyla> ::peers over at Jelarthna:: He *what*?

* Lisl looks completely serious, and slightly concerned.

* Meghan watches Lisl a slight grin on her face

<Lisl> He's got something on his tongue, look... open your mouth, Jel.

* Jelarthna looks thoughtful, obviously feeling his tongue in his mouth

* Meghan looks more curiously at Jel

* Jelarthna opens his mouth cautiously

* Lisl darts her hand out snake-fast and grabs his tongue firmly between her fingers, heedless of teeth or drool.

<Lisl> See, I *told* you you had something on your tongue. ::grinning:: Remember when you stuck your tongue out at me last month? And I promised I'd take care of you later?

<Lisl> It's later.

* Jelarthna chuckles

* Meghan laughs

* Nacheyla spits a mouthful of beer into her cupped hand and looks around anxiously for a dishrag.

<Nacheyla> Thanks, Lisl... really.. ::wipes her hand and chin::

<Jelarthna> 'ell? ::looks at Lisl expectantly::

<Lisl> Sorry, Nach. Yes, Jel?

* Lisl grins, still holding Jel's tongue.

* Tyl walks in, looks around...

<Tyl> Um, don't mind me, Lisl, but what *exactly* are you doing?

<Jelarthna> erll ow at?

* Jelarthna waves to Tyl brightly and smiles

<Jelarthna> 'ees ot y ongue.

<Meghan> Hey Tyl ::giggling slightly::

<Lisl> ::still grinning:: What does it look like I'm doing? Nach, would you hand me the pepper shaker, please?

<Meghan> Oh my

* Jelarthna waits patiently

* Tyl sits down on a stool...

<Tyl> If you don't mind, Lisl... I might have a use for that later that does not, even in the slightest bit, involve pepper...

* Jelarthna blushes slightly

<Lisl> Don't worry, Tyl, it's not anything kinky. Oh. Hm. ::thinks a moment:: Perhaps the salt would be better, then? ::solicitously:: It's not going numb yet, is it, Jel?

* Nacheyla hands Lisl a small ceramic container

<Jelarthna> 'o. ::winks::

<Lisl> Thank you, Nacheyla. ::peeking inside first to make sure it's the salt, not the pepper:: I always *did* enjoy a bit of pickled tongue....

<Nacheyla> oh, well, I think I have some vinegar around here too...

* Tyl looks over at Lisl with a raised eyebrow...

* Lisl scoops out a generous spoonful and sprinkles it on Jel's out-pulled tongue, thoughtfully rubbing it in a little.

<Tyl> I'm sure there's a long story here that I'm not sure I want to know about...

<Lisl> No, salt-curing's always better. Tyl can soak it in vinegar later, if she prefers the taste. ::grinning::

* Lisl releases Jel's tongue and darts back quickly out of arm's reach. "THERE we are."

<Lisl> ::glancing at Tyl:: It was while you were kidnapped. Jel stuck out his tongue once too often for my taste. Now, that I wouldn't mind so much, but then he said that I'd never get back at him.

<Nacheyla> Ah... I see...

* Jelarthna carefully scrapes off most of the salt and cleans it off into his hands, then carefully swirls it around in his mouth for several moments

<Tyl> ::shakes her head::

* Jelarthna chuckles

<Jelarthna> Happy now, Lisl? ::smiles::

<Lisl> Quite satisfied, yes. ::grinning::

<Lisl> And besides, now we've proved you're not a zombie.

<Nacheyla> That's a very good thing...

* Meghan shakes her head

<Tyl> How does what prove anything about anyone's zombieness?

* Jelarthna chuckles and puts the salt into a small pouch

<Lisl> Salt unmakes a zombie, somehow. Don't ask me why, but it works. Of course, with a zombie, you have to stitch their lips closed to keep them from spitting it all out... but after that, they go back to their graves and rest there like proper dead people.

<Jelarthna> Interesting.. I didn't know that.

* Meghan glances to the door and then back to the bar

<Lisl> It's amazing what one can pick up in one's travels. ::grinning::

<Jelarthna> ::grins:: True!

* Jelarthna turns and hugs Tyl

<Meghan> Well ::stands:: I think I'm off. Gonna try to get to bed early tonight

<Tyl> Good evening, dear...

<Jelarthna> Good to see you, love! ::smiles warmly::

<Lisl> Sleep sweet, Meghan!

<Meghan> Night guys ::smiles and wraps her cloak around her as she walks out into the night::

<Jelarthna> Leaving already...? Good night then, Meghan... hope to see you again soon. ::waves farewell::

<Nacheyla> Good night, Meghan

<Tyl> And how has your day been?

<Jelarthna> It's gone well enough. I managed a bit of practice out in the forests for much of the day.

<Nacheyla> Practice doing what? ::takes a sip of beer::

* Lisl sits and reclaims her brandy glass, taking another sip.

<Jelarthna> mmm.. some new moves and combinations against groups.

<Tyl> You've been out fighting again? ::rolls her eyes::

<Jelarthna> no dear, just practice.

* Jelarthna considers his feywine

<Jelarthna> Might I have a glass of water please, Nacheyla?

<Lisl> Practice? Where do you find groups, out in the forest?

<Nacheyla> ::Jel's glass peers at him::

<Lisl> ::grins a little::

<Nacheyla> Surely... ::pours a glass of water::

<Jelarthna> ::sips some water:: Illusory targets... an interesting little trick I learned somewhat recently from a gnome. It's not how he was using it, but I figured out how to adapt it somewhat.

<Lisl> Ahhh. But... if you cast it, don't you know where they're going to be? Isn't that cheating?

<Jelarthna> actually, that's the trick I learned; how to randomize their movements.

<Jelarthna> One of the nice side effects of that is that it takes less concentration, so I can keep more of them going at one time.

<Lisl> Ah! ::raising her eyebrows and nodding:: Interesting. Is it just visual, or is it a full-sensory illusion?

<Tyl> Seems to me that you'd have illusory bandits attacking trees or something, but magic was never my forte

<Jelarthna> Just visual so far.. I don't want to devote *too* much concentration to them, and illusions have never been my forte.

<Lisl> Right... ::grinning:: Too much like defensive magic.

<Jelarthna> ::smiles at Tyl:: they're actually literally just targets.. mostly fairly small. It is for training, after all.

<Lisl> Although... ::thinking a moment:: Philister did some incredible things with his illusions. ::shaking her head:: Phil... I haven't thought of him in years. I wonder whatever came of him?

<Jelarthna> ::chuckles:: I'm making some effort to learn a little more defensive and utility magic, although I haven't had much time to try to hunt down such spells.

<Jelarthna> Philister? He's actually shown his face here a few times relatively recently, though it has been a while...

<Lisl> ::perking up her ears:: Really? Shame that I missed him...

<Jelarthna> ::nods:: One of the few people I've seen from the old days...

* Jelarthna takes a big mouthful of water and swishes it around a bit before swallowing

<Tyl> Still somewhat salted, dear?

<Jelarthna> ::grins:: I think that did it.

<Lisl> Few? Hunh... there's been Moon Dancer... well, Marten now. And BrightEyes...who goes by Sylith. Hm, lots of name changes... Let's see... S'ay visited briefly, and my cousin, and Bai and I are old-timers. Heck, even Sealgair came back from the dead to visit, I hear. ::grin:: And the way Zoya tells it, Erdian never quite left.

<Jelarthna> ::sips his feywine, winking at the glass:: ahhh, yes, it did.

<Jelarthna> I did see Moon Dancer a few times... where is he now, anyway? And Sealgair only once when he visited...

<Nacheyla> ::snert:: Master Marten? He's Zoya's live-in boyfriend these days

<Jelarthna> Oh wait... that whole memory-spirit thing, right? ::shakes head:: I still don't understand what happened...

<Lisl> Moon Dancer is Marten, now. And yes, ::grin:: he stays at the Tower... although I think he's done a bit of a wander a few times. He's... not quite the person he was. People he was. ::correcting herself with an odd look on her face::

* Jelarthna nods a little somberly

<Jelarthna> I think S'ay has been around from time to time, though again, not for some time... she was here when the Hall reopened, I recall. And of course Bai. ::grins::

* Tyl sneezes several times in a row, groans, and digs out a handkerchief

<Jelarthna> but... ::smiles brightly at Tyl and Nach:: I can't say I'm unhappy with the more recent patrons I've met.

* Jelarthna offers her one quickly

<Tyl> sank 'oo

<Lisl> ::frowning in thought:: S'ay visited again in the middle of all that Nilgarthor mess... she said she'd stop again sometime, but I haven't seen her. Have you ever heard her sing? She's a wonder.

<Lisl> ::grinning:: I'm an old-timer, too.

<Jelarthna> ::nods:: I've danced to her singing... it's an easy thing to get lost in...

<Jelarthna> ::grins back:: very! ::wink::

<Lisl> And then, of course, so is Yb... but there are some people it's perhaps better not to see too often. ::grinning:: Ha! Go ahead, rub it in, you whippersnapper. Tell all your friends you got a-salted by an old lady.

* Jelarthna bows extravagantly

<Jelarthna> Anything to add a little spice to life, milady.

* Jelarthna shivers slightly at the mention of Yb, though..

<Tyl> ::blows her nose:: I hate winter

<Lisl> ::shakes her head:: There's no curing him. I should've used the pepper.

<Jelarthna> ::puts an arm around Tyl:: Maybe next time I annoy you too much? ::grin::

<Lisl> ::scratching her temple:: Come to think... Jaret's been about for ages, as well. And Drach... ::shakes his head:: I wouldn't be surprised if you run into him in your travels with Xarroch, Jel. He always *did* say he was going to retire to the Nine Hells. Make it hard to drop in for a visit, though....

<Jelarthna> hmmm, good point... you and Jaret are around often enough that I don't really think of you as missing. ::chuckles::

<Jelarthna> I have wondered where Drach is... I wouldn't mind seeing Xarroch and he meet, though... ::laughs:: I can just imagine the drinking contest!

<Lisl> Ha! Assuming, of course, that Drach doesn't slay Xarroch out of hand with that great bloody axe of his... ::shakes her head:: I can't tell you how terrifying it was to see that thing swinging at you....

<Lisl> ::dryly:: True, Jaret and I are hard to overlook.

<Jelarthna> ::grins:: No kidding! You know... ::looks thoughtful:: I don't think I've had hiccups at all since then...

<Lisl> HA!

<Jelarthna> ::laugh:: That's the truth!

<Lisl> I believe it. I just think it's funny.

<Jelarthna> ::grins:: So do I.

<Lisl> Hm... now that I think on it... y'know, I don't think Felis has been back to visit since he reached his captaincy. ::grinning:: Maybe he's ashamed of us.

<Jelarthna> heh... perhaps he just doesn't want to have to arrest any of us?

<Lisl> Heh. ::grinning ferally:: Maybe he doesn't want to have to *try.*

<Jelarthna> ::grins::

<Nacheyla> ::makes a face:: I had enough trouble convincing the Dragons to go away when they wanted you for questioning about that Baron whatshisname you... scared to death several months ago

<Jelarthna> I'd prefer if he didn't! I've been through it once, and I suspect I'd end up being the one he'd have to come after, anyway. ::winks::

<Jelarthna> errr... like that, yes.

<Lisl> Heh. Jel, you hellraiser, you.

* Jelarthna looks innocent

<Lisl> ::taking another sip of brandy:: I wonder what ever happened to Sealgair's girl... all I can remember is that she *didn't* die, despite what that demon did to her...

<Jelarthna> Sealgair's girl? ::blinks:: Who's that?

<Lisl> Lhynnae.

<Jelarthna> oh! I think I've met her... I didn't realize they were related.

<Nacheyla> ::her mouth twitches:: How sweet...

* Jelarthna raises an eyebrow at Nacheyla and sips his wine

<Nacheyla> ::gestures at the kitchen:: There's a gold tabby cat living out in the alley named Lhynnae... I guess someone named the alley cat after Sealgair's daughter...

<Lisl> Sweet? Lhynnae? :;raising her eyebrows:: I can think of a number of adjectives, but "sweet" wouldn't be at the top of the list. "Stubborn" or maybe "determined"..."hot-tempered"... "brave"...

* Jelarthna laughs and looks at Lisl pointedly

<Jelarthna> takes one to know one? ::grin::

<Lisl> There is? ::drawing her brows together:: Did I mention she could shape-change?

<Lisl> ::raising her eyebrows again:: What?

<Lisl> I'm not hot-tempered! I'm not, am I?

<Nacheyla> Um, no... ::looks at the kitchen:: Hmmm... I feed her and a few others from time to time... wouldn't seem like... ::stops, puzzled::

<Jelarthna> ::turns to Nacheyla:: Really? Perhaps I should visit her at some point, then... at least to say hi, either way.

<Lisl> Seem like what?

* Jelarthna smirks slightly, not quite facing Lisl

<Nacheyla> On the other hand... ::stops again::

<Lisl> Don't *think* I can't see you smirking, Jel... your ears twitch when you smirk, you know.

<Tyl> ::blinks a few times:: That could explain some things... ::also looks thoughtful::

* Jelarthna twitches his ears again

<Jelarthna> ::looks between Nach and Tyl:: Like what?

<Tyl> Cwallie's got a cat that she got from the back alley... damned smart, for a feline...

<Lisl> ::under her breath:: Felines are smart?

<Nacheyla> ::talking at the same time:: I always said if I was going to be reincarnated, I'd want to be a cat, but still, that seems a little...

<Jelarthna> I remember when she adopted that cat, actually...

<Tyl> That one is... saved me from a vampire one time...

<Jelarthna> Oh?

<Jelarthna> ::looks at Nacheyla puzzled:: You can't have been reincarnated yet, Nacheyla...

<Jelarthna> At least, not how I understand it..

<Nacheyla> I'm not, yet... ::grins:: or at least, I don't remember a past life... but I meant that it's sort of weird. I mean, she's a human, right? Why would she want to live as an alley cat?

<Lisl> I think she means later, Jel. ::stage-whispering to Tyl:: Elves. ::grinning unrepentantly::

<Tyl> ::grins at Lisl:: Half-elves

* Jelarthna grins

<Lisl> Maybe she didn't want to. Maybe she got stuck. ::thinking:: But then again... her life as a human wasn't all that great. I imagine feeling guilty for your father's death and being raped by a demon would do that to a person...

<Jelarthna> I don't know, Nacheyla... seems a simpler life, though, doesn't it? Steady food supply, no real responsibilities...

* Jelarthna shudders

<Nacheyla> ::blinks:: No real responsibilities? She's got at least five or six kittens every four months!

<Jelarthna> ::chuckles:: Kittens grow up quickly, though...

<Lisl> Yup, that sounds like Lhynnae, too. ::said without rancor::

<Jelarthna> The kittens, or the process of making them? ::grins::

<Lisl> Well, she always liked children, I think. ::grinning:: But I got the impression that she liked the process even more. And I don't think cats have birth control. ::thoughtfully:: Tho' I suppose if it *was* Lhynnae, she could always browse on the right herbs...

<Jelarthna> Well then... if it's her, at least she's probably happy and content then. Or if she is just a cat, then she's still happy and content.

* Jelarthna smiles

<Lisl> I *still* say cats are happiest when they're clawing furniture into kindling...

* Jelarthna laughs

<Tyl> ::nods:: or the curtains...

<Tyl> Do not own a kitten and velvet curtains at the same time... that's my advice

<Lisl> Curtains count as furniture, to me.

<Jelarthna> ::grins::

<Lisl> ::chuckles::

* Nacheyla smiles

<Nacheyla> Last call

* Jelarthna finishes the Feywine and carefully sets the glass back down and gives it a little pat

<Lisl> I'm fine with this, thanks, Nach. ::touching her brandy glass, and then picking it up for another sip::

<Lisl> Quiet, tonight.

<Jelarthna> ::looks around:: I suppose it has been... An interesting change of pace, for me. ::chuckles::

<Nacheyla> ::shrugs:: It's easier on the furniture when it's quiet...

<Lisl> Heh. That, indeed. ::grinning:: It's not every day you get your tongue salted. ::grinning wider:: And they say revenge is *sweet*.

<Jelarthna> ::grins and squeezes Tyl:: I have my sweet right here... ::smiles::

<Tyl> ::grins::

<Lisl> Gack. ::smiling slightly::

* Jelarthna sets a small pouch on the counter and grins

<Nacheyla> Um... ::shakes the pouch:: What, do you have a gold mine somewhere that I don't know about?

* Lisl finishes off her brandy and digs around in her jerkin.

<Jelarthna> ::grins broadly:: Maybe.

<Lisl> Heh. Fey gold for fey wine.

<Jelarthna> Hey.. you can pick up lots of interesting things in your travels... ::winks::

<Tyl> ::stands up:: Come along, dear... Hey, Lisl, want to come and look menacing over my shoulder? I have some people I need to intimidate...

* Lisl pulls out a handful of coins or carrying denominations and origins, dropping them on the bar without really looking at them.

* Nacheyla puts the coins and bag in the lockbox...

<Lisl> Always happy to menace. ::setting her glass down and standing up:: Who are we bullying?

<Jelarthna> You need menacing, love? Nacheyla, can we borrow the saltshaker for her? ::grin::

<Nacheyla> No wonder it's so hard to do the books around here...

<Tyl> I'm going to go bully the Guildmaster... he needs to keep a better eye on unlicensed thievery.

<Jelarthna> tsk!

<Lisl> Nah, I don't need props to look menacing. ::grins at Jel for a moment before going serious and death-still, her eyes glowing a pale wolf-yellow, danger standing off her like an aura::

<Lisl> ::relaxing and grinning:: See?

<Tyl> That's good... when he offers me the job, you can do that... ::laughs::

<Jelarthna> ::considers Lisl seriously for a moment:: No... much worse with the saltshaker... ::grins and makes a dash for the door, dragging Tyl with him::

* Jelarthna grabs his cloak on the way out

* Lisl laughs and shakes her head, grabbing her cloak from by the fire and walking out after Tyl.

<Nacheyla> ::shaking her head:: Children.

* Nacheyla shoos the dishes into the kitchen and blows out the lights.
