* Rhys walks in from the back room, unlocks the front door, and returns behind the counter. "Hall's open."

* Tyl slips in through the door on silent feet, keeping to the shadows. When inside, she relaxes and pushes back her hood.

<Tyl> Think I lost him... meddlesome coward

<Rhys> Evening Tyl. Rum and ice? And who's pestering you tonight?

* Bai walks in through the door and heads towards the bar.

* Bai sits at the bar and leans his staff against the wall. "Water Rhys."

<Tyl> Nilgarthor's henchman...

* Rhys gets Bai a mug of the Hall's finest water.

<Rhys> Nilgarthor? Doesn't ring a bell. Should it?

<Tyl> He hasn't actually introduced himself to me, but he's been dogging my steps for about a week now

* Lisl breezes in as Rhys serves Bai his water. "Gesundheit, Rhys. Mug of 'kick, please?"

* Rhys fixes Lisl a mug of mulekick. "I didn't sneeze. It's the name of Tyl's newest beau."

<Tyl> At least I hope the wretch is a henchling of Nilgarthor's... I don't need more than one enemy at a time, really. ::sits at the bar, wearily::

* Bai sips his water.

* Marten walks into the bar, and glances around the Hall before settling his eyes on Lisl. He smiles, and walks over to where Lisl is sitting. "Good! I'm glad to see you. Are you planning on heading back to the Tower soon, Lisl?"

<Rhys> Well met, Marten. Can I get you anything?

<Lisl> Beau? ::raises her eyebrows as she accepts the mug, and turns to look at Tyl:: Somehow I get the impression that Rhys is being sarcastic. Problems?

<Tyl> Oh, gods and goddesses and devils and demons, yes, I've got problems.

<Bai> Moon Dancer! Where have you been this year past?

<Tyl> Extremely annoying and wearisome ones

<Lisl> ::looking up at Marten:: Not immediately, Marten...I wanted to take a bit of a break first. It's been a...sleepless week.

* Bai looks quizzically at Marten and Lisl.

* Marten looks at Rhys, and smiles. "Please. A glass of wine; something from..." He stops and lowers his head, before speaking. "Someone want to field this one?" He glances at Bai, resignedly.

<Rhys> Bai, allow me to do the introductions. This is Marten. Marten, this is Bai. Bai is an old friend of Moon Dancers. Bai, Marten, though he looks like and has some similarities to him, is not Moon Dancer.

<Marten> ::nods at Lisl:: I understand. I was hoping to get some things to Zoya, but they're not a complete rush.

<Marten> ::looks at Bai:: Does that explain things?

<Lisl> ::raising an eyebrow, a bit of a teasing smile playing over her lips as she takes a drink:: What, you're not sleeping there anymore, Marten?

<Marten> ::shakes his head:: Not at all, Lisl. I was just planning on running some more errands in Marsember before returning to the Tower. I found some analgesic herbal remedies while I was in the market, and thought she could use any help she could get. ::frowns slightly::

<Marten> ::looks at Bai:: Milord Bai, it is a pleasure to meet you. I'm sorry if I put you ill at ease...

* Tyl gets up and peers cautiously out the window.

<Tyl> Damn. well, he probably guessed it.

<Tyl> After all, where else am I going to go?

<Rhys> ::quietly:: I hear Pago Pago is lovely this time of year.

<Lisl> Indeed. ::Lisl's gaze follows Tyl over to the window:: What is it, Tyl? Your secret admirer, again? Why's he trailing you?

<Marten> ::looks at Rhys, smirking:: 'Pago Pago'?

<Tyl> ::growls deep in her throat:: Probably hoping to catch me doing something incriminating. Lisl, do you mind if I 'speak you? I have something I want to ask

<Lisl> ::taking a swig of 'kick and frowning at Rhys:: Isn't that some kind of dance?

* Bai inclines his head to Marten, "Forgive me for my mistake. If I had not been absent nearly as much as Moon Dancer I would no doubt have known."

<Rhys> ::to Lisl:: Something like that.

<Lisl> "speak"? As in "mindspeak"? Go right ahead. Excuse the mess in there, I've been thinking more than usual of late.

* Tyl smiles.

<Tyl> Don't worry. I don't snoop...

<Lisl> ::grins:: It wouldn't matter. Everything I have to hide, you know already.

<Marten> ::nods to Bai:: Of course. I understand that Moon Dancer was also quite frequently absent. Were the two of you close?

* Tyl looks at Lisl with a half-lidded, almost sleepy sort of gaze...

* Lisl Lisl frowns, shakes her head, and looks thoughtful as she takes a sip of 'kick.

<Rhys> Marten? Can I get you something?

<Bai> ::To Marten:: It was a rather unique relationship.

<Marten> ::looks at Rhys:: Oh! Yes, please. A glass of wine. Perhaps something from Sembia... white, red, whatever.

<Rhys> Blush, if you can't make up your mind. ::hunts around and produces a light pink wine with a Sembian trading house mark on the side, uncorks it, and pours Marten a glass:: Here you are.

<Marten> ::takes the glass, and sips from it:: Thank you, Rhys. A good choice, especially for the undecided.

<Lisl> ::sounding distracted, as if she's got something else on her mind:: Unique relationship, Bai? As in, my cousin has, at one time or other, tried to kill both of you?

<Tyl> Rhys, I think I'll take you up on that drink, if you don't mind

<Rhys> Of course, Tyl. ::fixes Tyl a rum on the rocks and places it before her::

* Tyl knocks back the entire drink and swallows hard

* Bai chuckles, "Among other things, yes Lisl. Though I seem to have done a better job of keeping my hide intact than Moon Dancer did."

<Marten> ::looks at Tyl, and sips some more wine:: Something bothering you?

<Tyl> oh, you betcha.

<Lisl> ::smiles distantly and takes another swallow:: Lini just took more of a shine to him... your good luck.

<Marten> ::smiles at Tyl, as he lifts his glass:: Well then, here's hoping you shake whatever ghosts are haunting you. ::he drinks from his glass, and sets it back down on the bar::

<Tyl> Ghost? ::thinks for a minute:: Well... well well well... I hadn't thought about that... I suppose *that* could explain some things

<Rhys> Another drink, Tyl?

<Tyl> please

<Marten> ::laughs:: Well, I'm glad I could help you see things from a different angle.

* Rhys pours Tyl another drink.

<Lisl> A ghost? Inside the Hall wards? Wouldn't the HallMasters know, somehow?

<Tyl> well, I wasn't thinking that... I was thinking about Count whastzisname, and thinking maybe someone might have cast a necromancy spell on him. There's a lot of tales some dead men can tell....

<Marten> ::shrugs:: I would suppose so, Lisl. The wards are pretty effective at keeping all but the most insistent beings out.

* Rhys looks at Marten with a raised eyebrow. "Are they?"

<Lisl> ::shakes her head:: Only if the soul can be recovered...Marta gave me to the impression that his had gone rather quickly to somewhere very unpleasant.

<Lisl> ::raises an eyebrow of her own to look at Marten::

<Marten> ::nods:: They are, though there are ways around them. It seems that Sealgair or Erdian one left some obvious holes in the whole warding mesh. They're hard to find unless you know what to look for.

<Rhys> I hope you don't mind me prying, Master Tenbones, but how, precisely, do you know all this?

<Marten> ::sips his wine, and looks at Rhys:: Well, I... ::he stops, and stares at Rhys::

<Rhys> More wine, Master Tenbones?

<Marten> I don't know, honestly. ::he shrugs, and laughs slightly:: Seems I'm saying that more than I want to recently.

<Lisl> ::smiles slightly and puts her mug down, pushing it in Marten's direction:: Maybe he'd better have a sip of this, he'd feel better.

* Bai sips his water as he contemplates Marten.

* Rhys looks through his bushy eyebrows. "I doubt that, Lisl."

<Marten> ::picks up Lisl's mug, and lifts it to his mouth. He stops, wrinkling his nose:: What's in here? Grout remover?

<Rhys> Yes.

<Lisl> ::chuckles:: It can be used for that, among other things. Don't take too strong a whiff, you don't want to pass out and drop the mug. ::Lisl grins, but watches him tensely::

* Marten puts the mug down, and hands it back to Lisl. "If I had your constitution, perhaps. Thank you anyway." He smiles. "It doesn't bother me much, really. I'll remember eventually, and if I don't..."

<Lisl> Suit yourself, Marten. ::picks up the mug with a smile and takes another swig from it::

* Bai sips his water, "What exactly is it you've forgotten Marten?"

<Marten> ::looks at Bai:: Quite a bit. I remember back about... six months? Seven, at the most. Beyond that... I have glimpses, every once in awhile. But they often are disjointed and brief, and more often than not don't even feel like my memories.

* Bai meets Marten's gaze and Bai's blue eyes shine the same hue as his robes.

* Rhys glares briefly at Bai.

<Lisl> ::chuckles:: You certainly don't fight like a 6-month old recruit.

<Bai> ::After a few moments Bai's eyes return to normal and he shakes his head muttering under his breath.::

<Marten> ::smiles at Lisl:: And you don't fight like a lady well over a century old, either.

<Tyl> ::gives Marten a quick look:: And exactly what's wrong with being over a century old?

<Lisl> Heh. More'n that, pup. ::chuckles:: I keep these old bones limber, that's the secret. ::mimicking an old lady voice::

<Marten> ::laughs:: I'm sure you do, milady. And, I won't bother to ask your age, Lisl. It wouldn't be proper...

* Tyl slumps her head down in her hands, staring thoughtfully at the polished bar top

<Lisl> ::grinning:: Spoken like a true gentleman, Marten.

<Rhys> Something the matter, Tyl'gainia?

<Marten> ::sips some wine, and looks at Lisl coyly:: Indeed.

<Tyl> Frustrated. Confused. Worried. Miss my boyfriend. that sort of thing...

* Bai sips his water.

<Rhys> Ah. I'm sorry, Tyl.

<Tyl> S'allright... ::waves her hand sort of nevermindingly::

<Rhys> Bai, what brings you back to Marsember? Watching Yb?

<Bai> Watching Yb, hoping Lini'leah would finally have found her way back here, needing to stop some place where I might be able to feel useful to someone.

<Tyl> I can relate to that.... after promising that he wouldn't go off and do anything stupid again, Jel went off to "have lunch" with Xarroch and hasn't been seen since...

<Rhys> So Xarroch's missing as well? I thought the front door was holding up remarkably well lately.

<Lisl> ::shakes her head:: Sorry, Bai, I've not seen Lini in...hm....nearly a year, I believe. She said something about traveling south, last time, I think. Mother checks in on her every once in a while, but some of the things Lini does in her free time make even Mother feel faint....

<Tyl> Who knows what the two of them are up to. I only hope Xarroch remembers that he's *supposed* to be keeping an eye on Jel

* Bai sips his water, "It's alright Lisl. I should know by now that Lini will be found when she wants to be found, and not a moment sooner."

<Lisl> ::shrugs and takes another hit of 'kick:: Xarroch's a pretty responsible sort, considering.

* Marten sips some wine, and shifts in his seat.

<Tyl> heh...

<Lisl> Oh, Marten, in all that's been going on, I keep forgetting to ask you...::sipping again:: How do your people feel about the Golden Horde?

<Marten> ::looks at Lisl as he sets his glass down:: How do we feel about them? ::he shrugs:: They're useful for a purpose, but not to be trusted. Why?

<Lisl> Useful for a purpose? What purpose would that be? ::smiling faintly::

<Marten> Hired mercenaries, mostly. They're best kept at arm's length, if you ask me.

<Lisl> Bloody barbarians, good for nothing but what they're told to do, hmm?

* Bai sips his water, while he watches Lisl and Marten.

<Marten> No, not at all. Ambitious, cunning and deceptive. If you're not careful, they'll take your lands from underneath you while your head is turned.

<Lisl> ::chuckles:: I can tell you've been dealing with Eastern Hordelands folk...

<Marten> Oh? How so? Do you have experience with them?

<Lisl> A little. ::grinning, and taking a sip from her mug:: I spent close to five years in Tuigan lands, not too long ago.

<Marten> ::raises an eyebrow:: Really? You constantly surprise me, Lisl. Sometime, we need to talk about your travels West... ::he smiles:: East, rather. There is much about the Hordelands that I do not know.

<Lisl> Heh. There is much about the Hordelands that *lots* of people don't know.

<Marten> ::nods:: Yes there is. The Tuigan are not very forthcoming with outsiders, sometimes to their detriment.

<Lisl> ::raising an eyebrow:: To their detriment? They value their privacy...and to be truthful, most people do not *bother* to learn about them.

<Tyl> Hey, Rhys... mind if I grab a room here tonight? I don't feel like playing bump in the dark with that damn spying wretch again tonight.

<Rhys> Of course Tyl. I believe all the rooms are available, but check before you bed down for the night.

<Marten> ::looks at Lisl, and finishes his wine:: That's possible too, I guess. Either way, it's a conversation for another evening. ::Marten turns to Rhys, placing two gold on the bar:: Rhys, if you have a bottle of Sembian White I could take with me?

<Rhys> Yes, Marten. Let me see... the 1375 is quite pleasurable, I understand. Here you are. ::hands Marten a wine bottle::

<Marten> ::smiles:: Many thanks, Rhys. I'll let you know if it passes inspection.

* Marten stands, and smiles. "On that note, gentles, I think I need to return to the Tower. Glossaria could use the relief and the company, I think."

* Tyl smiles wanly and walks up the stairs...

<Rhys> Well met, Marten. Good night.

<Lisl> ::nodding, with a small smile:: I'm not entirely convinced she sleeps, Marten, but I'll walk you back. I'd like to see how Zoya is getting on, now.

* Lisl stands, and tilts her mug up, draining the last of it and putting it down on the floor with a nudge in the direction of the kitchen.

<Rhys> Anything I can get you before you go, Lisl?

* Bai finishes his water, "Goodnight all."

<Rhys> Good night, Bai.

<Marten> Well met, Bai.

<Lisl> Thirty hours of sleep? ::she grins and shakes her head:: I'm fine, Rhys. If anyone comes here looking for me, send them on to the Tower, would you please?

<Rhys> I think I can manage that. Good night.

* Bai sets his mug on the floor and heads up the steps.

* Marten opens the door, and looks back at Lisl. "Following, milady?"

<Lisl> Thanks. G'night, all. Sleep sweet. On my way, Marten.

* Lisl turns and follows Marten out into the night.

* Rhys follows Marten to the door, and locks it behind him. "Obvious holes indeed..." He dims the lamps and heads back into the kitchen.
