<Nacheyla> They couldn't resurrect him? <Michelle> Didn't try. Too expensive to resurrect public servants without a really important reason. <Nacheyla> I can spot her, if need be... I hate seeing anyone go before their time... <Michelle> Am I understanding you correctly. You can resurrect people? <Nacheyla> Yeah, I can. It costs a little, takes some off my own life, but I know how to do it. ::indicates her black and grey hair:: I've done it a few times... <Nacheyla> As long as he wasn't life-drained by an undead, that is... ::looks pained for a moment:: <Michelle> Are you sure you want to do this? I mean, you didn't even know him. You hardly know Temire. <Nacheyla> ::gives Michelle a hard look:: Do you know how old I am? <Michelle> Not a clue. But you're talking about giving up part of your life. That's precious even if you're immortal. <Nacheyla> I'm a human, and I'm nearly four hundred years old. I've seen a LOT of people die in my life... my husband. My children. My children's children. Temire reminds me of my great-granddaughter Elise, who died almost two hundred years ago. <Michelle> If you're sure then we'll do it. What do you need and how long does it take. They're taking him out to sea tomorrow, so I'd very much like to get things done before then. <Nacheyla> It takes about three or four hours... and I'll need a day to prepare. <Michelle> I don't know if it's possible then. *I* certainly can't retrieve a body from the bottom of the sea, and they're not likely to delay the service for our sake. Hell, Temire and I aren't even allowed to attend the service. <Nacheyla> Why not? <Michelle> Because Temire was disowned for defying her parents will, and they think I'm the one who made her do it. <Nacheyla> ::makes a rude noise:: <Nacheyla> How ridiculous. I hate shortsighted people. Of course, all things considered, I have no choice but to take the long view... <Michelle> Could you retrieve a body that was thrown into the Sea of Fallen Stars? * Zoya limps into the kitchen, leaning heavily on her staff. She looks around for something to sit on, and settles for leaning against a counter. She looks up with surprise at Michelle's request. <Zoya> Retrieve a body from where? <Michelle> The bottom of the sea. ::points towards the docks.:: <Zoya> Ah... Possibly. Depends on what happened to it when it got dumped in the ocean. What do you need it for? ::looks very dubious:: <Michelle> Nacheyla says she can resurrect Temire's brother. Unfortunately she needs a day to prepare, and the service is tomorrow. <Zoya> ::looks confused:: What does that have to do with it? <Nacheyla> ::the lert wanders into the kitchen and gathers up some bread rolls, cheese slices and meats.:: <Michelle> Lucius was a Purple Dragon, so he'll be getting a full military funeral. Complete with being thrown into the sea when it's over. Meaning no body for Nacheyla to resurrect. <Zoya> ::looks at the lert, muttering:: Interesting. I thought it was only here when Rhys was. Did you borrow it from him, Nacheyla? <Nacheyla> ::looks at the lert:: It seems to be here whenever I need it, and not here when there's a mess to clean up... <Zoya> Ah.... ::frowns:: If the body is in a state for resurrection, why not just go to the Dragons and ask them for permission to attempt it? <Nacheyla> I'd like to know who beat the poor child to death... a city guardsman? <Michelle> Because Temire parents have made arrangement so that Temire and I can't even see the body...Or attend the service. * Michelle shakes her head, "I don't really know. Given that he was a Dragon it was probably some ruffians from the docks." <Nacheyla> Beating him *up* is one thing, Michelle... beating him to death is quite different <Zoya> ::raises an eyebrow:: Well, so Nacheyla and I can go to the parents. They don't need to know that we're connected with Temire. <Zoya> ::nods to Nach's last comment:: And the Dragons are trained well, and more than well enough to handle themselves even on the docks. <Nacheyla> ::fingers her amulet and looks at Michelle:: The whole thing stinks on ice, and I think the only way we're going to get some answers is from the source... <Michelle> I know that. That's why I don't want Lisl encouraging Temire to go out and seek revenge. Lisl can get away with being impulsive like that. Temire can't. * Michelle smacks herself on the forehead. "How could I forget." <Nacheyla> Eh? <Zoya> ::sighs:: Well then, rather than attempt grave-robbing - you *did* realize that we could be arrested for retrieving the body, didn't you? - I suggest we go down to the Dragon's headquarters and talk to the captain. Doesn't Jaret have a friend among them? * Michelle sticks her head out of the kitchen again, "Oh Jaret...I've got one more little favor to ask you." <Nacheyla> ::looks at Zoya:: This is turning into a party... here, want a pretzel? <Zoya> :;grins:: All good parties wind up in the kitchen. ::takes the pretzel and munches thoughtfully:: * Nacheyla hands Jaret a pretzel. * Jaret looks at the pretzel with a small amount of confusion. "What am I supposed to do with this?" <Zoya> ::smiles somewhat ruefully at Jaret as he enters:: I think this is my fault. Don't you have a friend - or at least, an acquaintance - among the Purple Dragons? <Jaret> Yes, I know Lieutenant Adiethian. Why? * Michelle takes a deep breath, "Jaret. Nacheyla says she can resurrect Temire's brother, but she needs a day to prepare. Unfortunately the service is tomorrow which makes things rather difficult. Do you think you could get them to push the service back a day or so?" <Jaret> If I tell them that a family member has contracted for a resurrection, then I can't see any reason why they'd be any rush to conduct a service. I'd be happy to. * Michelle sighs, "Temire isn't family anymore. At least not legally." <Zoya> ::frowns:: No, I think Temire's parents can disown her, but they can't disavow her relationship to her siblings. But at any rate - legalities aside - if the Dragons hear that someone is willing to attempt to resurrect one of their members - for whatever reason - I think they'd let the attempt go through. <Jaret> That is true. Her parents can legally disown her, but they cannot remove the blood ties she has to her brother. <Michelle> Still, I think it best if Jaret approaches the Dragons. Though I'm happy to hear that it sounds like things will work out for the best now. * Michelle looks at Nacheyla, "Should I tell her now, or would it be better to wait in case it doesn't work?" <Nacheyla> ::makes a face:: I shouldn't meddle, perhaps, but I hate to see people grieving for lost loved ones... <Jaret> I'd be happy to do so. Do you know when the service is scheduled for tomorrow? <Nacheyla> Better wait. It doesn't always work. And sometimes they come back and die right away again. <Zoya> I think we should attempt the resurrection without dragging the girl into it, no matter what her family thinks, actually. No sense getting her hopes up - depending on the damage he sustained, he might not survive anyway. <Michelle> The ships are supposed to leave port at high sun. <Jaret> I'd tell her. It would be even more disconcerting to show up for her brother's funeral and find the church completely vacant. <Zoya> ::sighs:: She's been barred from the services, apparently, anyway. <Jaret> Very well. I'll contact Lieutenant Adiethian first thing in the morning, and secure Lady Nacheyla's access to the remains. <Michelle> Unless Nacheyla will be needing my assistance I'll be with her, so she shouldn't run into anything terrible in the mean time. <Zoya> ::nods and stands again:: Thank you, Jaret. ::limps back into the main room:: * Nacheyla smiles at Michelle <Jaret> Michelle, do you have any advice should young Miss Temire still be out for blood at that hour of the morning? <Michelle> Thank you Jaret, Nacheyla. ::Michelle curtseys to both of them.:: <Nacheyla> Well, that settles that... |
