* Rhys unlocks the door, and settles on a stool behind the bar. "Hall's Open!" * Marta looks up from a desk and peers through the office door. "Ah! Company!" * Zoya strides through the door, beaming widely. She looks for the bartender and spots him quickly. "Ah, Rhys! What do you recommend for a victory drink?" * Lisl strides into the Hall, her cheeks pink with the exertion of a recent run. * Rhys walks over to the office. "Good evening, Marta. Put the books aside for a moment and come out into the main room. We're sure to have some company tonight." <Marta> ::smiling softly:: My thanks, Rhys. Just one...more...::scribbles down a few numbers in her ledger::...There. * Lion walks in through the front/side door and walks across to the bar, taking a seat. <Rhys> Good evening Zoya, Lisl. A victory drink? Depends on the temperament of the drinker, mostly. A fine wine, maybe? * Marta stands and paces silently to a table near the window, smiling at the newcomers. <Rhys> Good evening, Lion. Can I get you anything? And you, Lisl? A mug of mulekick? <Zoya> As you suggest - a fine wine it shall be! <Lion> ::to Rhys:: A glass of cold water, please? <Lisl> What are we celebrating, Zoya? If it's a victory, I should drink something special....::thinks for a moment:: <Zoya> Oh, I finally worked out a problem Tyl had posed... Has anyone seen her this evening? <Lisl> A snifter of Sembian brandy for me, I think. ::smiling:: * Rhys fetches a bottle of Arabellan Red from underneath the bar, uncorks it, and pours Zoya a goblet. "Here you are." He gets a mug and fills it with clear, cold water and hands it to Lion. <Rhys> Of course. ::pours Lisl a snifter of Sembian brandy:: * Zoya takes a sip of the wine, smiles widely, and takes a somewhat bigger drink. "Very good!" <Lisl> ::shooting a grin at Lion:: 'Evening, Lion. Drinking water instead of swimming in it tonight, are you? <Lion> Thank you. ::to Rhys. Takes a long sip.:: Ah, that's good. ::turns to Lisl:: Hm? Swimming? ::looks puzzled:: <JovialGuy> ::A pleasant looking, well dressed man walks into the bar. He's a bit on the chubby side, and seems to have a near permanent smile on his face. He's carrying a couple of scroll cases and a short stack of parchments.:: <Lisl> Last week? The three-story dive? <Rhys> ::to the stranger:: Good evening, sir. Welcome to the Meade Hall. My name is Rhys, and I'm tending bar tonight. Can I get you anything? <Lisl> ::looking up at the newcomer, watching:: <JovialGuy> ::he walks to the bar, and looks at Rhys, smiling even more widely, if that's possible:: Good evening! ::he beams:: Could you tell me where I could find a Mr. Moon Dancer? <Lion> ::to Lisl, still a little puzzled:: I told you about that? <Lisl> ::snaps her fingers to her snifter of brandy, causing it to grow legs and waltz over to her:: <Rhys> I'm afraid he's out, and I don't know when he'll return. If you'd like to leave a writing, I'll make sure it gets to him. <Lisl> You only mentioned it in passing. When you spoke of getting too old. ::with an impish grin:: * Lion chuckles, then clutches his side. <Lion> Oh, don't remind me. * Rhys shoots a look of concern at Lion. <Marta> ::drifting [no, not literally] over to the bar, leaning forward to quietly request a cup of tea:: <JovialGuy> Ah, yes, of course, of course. I'm sure he's a very busy man. Please, if you could see that this gets to him, I would be very grateful to you. ::hands one of the scroll cases to Rhys:: <Lisl> ::raising an eyebrow:: Hurt to laugh, *old* friend? * Rhys takes the scroll casing from the man and puts it under the bar. "I'll make sure it gets to him. Is it a matter of urgency?" <Zoya> ::looks after the stranger curiously:: <Lion> Mm, yes, ::to Lisl:: A cracked rib or two will do that. * Rhys fixes Marta a steaming cup of tea while he waits for the stranger's response. <JovialGuy> Oh, no no no. Not *urgent*, no. Just a matter of business, is all. Thank you ever so much. And please pass along that a prompt reply would also be appreciated. <Lisl> ::winces in sympathy:: Aye. You *do* recall what i said about asking for aid if you need it? <Rhys> Of course. Good evening, sir. <Lisl> ::narrowing her eyes as she watches the jovial man deliver his package:: <Lion> I recall--at the time, I didn't think I need it. ::sips his water:: The group of thugs who jumped were glad I hadn't. <Rhys> Can I get you anything to drink, while you're here? <JovialGuy> ::bobs to Rhys:: Thank you again, sir. Have a nice evening, everyone! ::makes his way our of the Hall:: * Marta accepts her cup of tea and resumes her seat by the window, looking out on occasion. <Lisl> Jumped were you? And you allowed them to crack your ribs? You must be getting old. ::a look of concern lurking under the teasing smile:: * Michelle enters wearing a yellow turtle neck and brown skirt. She heads towards the bar tiredly. * Lion turns to Lisl. <Rhys> Good evening, Michelle. Can I get you anything? <Lion> These were no ordinary street thugs. And a dozen, to boot. Not that I didn't give a good account for myself. * Zoya sips her wine thoughtfully. <Michelle> Hi Rhys. ::shakes her head:: I'm not sure what I want. Something for frazzled nerves. <Lisl> ::nods her head, eyes thoughtful:: I suspected as much. More companions from the distant east? <Rhys> Chamomile tea could suit. or something stronger? <Lion> ::grimaces, then to Lisl:: Aye. My informant was more cunning than I gave him credit--sent me into an ambush, it seems. <Lisl> ::glancing up at Michelle's comment:: give her some mulekick, Rhys...guaranteed to make a body forget its worries. ::evil grin:: * Jelarthna walks into the bar, limping slightly on his right leg. He hangs up his hat and cloak, and is wearing more sturdy adventurer's garb instead of his normal one-year-out-of-style stylish garb. <Lion> ::chuckles:: Aye, and its lunch... <Michelle> Should probably stay away from liquor. Don't need to be anymore depressed than I already am. <Jelarthna> ::limps to the bar:: Good evening, everyone! * Lion waves at Jel. <Rhys> Tea it is then. ::begins fixing Michelle her tea:: Good evening, Jelarthna. Care for anything? <Michelle> Hi Jel. <Marta> ::looking up from her place by the window:: Good evening, milord Jelarthna! ::rising to curtsey:: Oh! You're hurt! <Lisl> Depressed? ::squinting at Michelle:: What's wrong? <Jelarthna> ::to Rhys:: Some tea would be nice, I've had some other drinks today, and it probably wouldn't be a good idea to overdo it. <Jelarthna> ::bows to Marta:: Good evening, milady. Don't worry, it's a minor wound, I'm fine. * Rhys pauses in the middle of making Michelle's brew to get another cup & saucer, and fill the cup with hot water. * Rhys passes Michelle's tea over to here. "Here you are." * Lion sips his water. <Marta> ::moving to his side, but drawing back from touching him:: You're certain? I know how like a man it is to make little of a hurt in front of a woman. <Zoya> ::raises an eyebrow at Jel:: What happened to you? <Jelarthna> ::smiles:: There are some people I know better than to do that around, and several of them are right here. No, it really is just a trifle. <Michelle> Lets see. I've got a girl from Jaret's classes following me around like a lost puppy wanting to be a great adventurer, I've got her parents screaming at me, the guard, and any wizard or priest within earshot that I'm a witch and I've put some kind of demonic spell on the girl, and I've got some unresolved personal issues that are managing to keep me awake at night. <Jelarthna> ::to Zoya:: I was attacked by one of Tyl's Vampire friends on the way to her place after we set the wards last week. * Rhys finishes fixing Jelarthna's chamomile tea, and sets it down in front of him. * Lisl dips her nose into the snifter for the scent of the brandy, and then takes a long swallow:: Ahhhhh, Sembian. <Zoya> ::frowns:: And you didn't bother to mention it until *today*? <Jelarthna> ::shakes head:: I was caught a little off-guard by his initial attacks. It was *much* faster than I would have though, and my sword was less than useless against it. <Lisl> ::looking up again:: Yipe. Quite the puzzleknot. <Lion> Personally, I always find a sword too slow. ::winks:: <Jelarthna> Well, the others were caught in the fire at Tyl's house, so we're probably okay for a while. <Zoya> Good gods, it didn't bite you, did it? * Michelle sips her tea. <Zoya> A FIRE at TYL'S HOUSE??!? <Jelarthna> No bite, and yes, a fire. * Zoya indelicately slugs back the rest of her wine. "Rhys, I think I'm going to need something a little stronger." <Zoya> Why don't you just tell me what happened now. <Rhys> Of course, Zoya. ::pours her a few fingers of Moonshaen whisky into a short, squat glass:: This should suffice. <Marta> ::her hand hovering over Jel's shoulder:: A vampire? ::small shudder:: How horrible for you...even those such as I do our best to stay out of a vampire's way. <Jelarthna> It seems Bai wasn't kidding about his sword being made from a piece of a sun. When he was using it on them, they completely panicked as they were dying. One of them managed to touch Bai's sword and somehow survived just long enough to get hit by the <Jelarthna> lantern another one flung on the floor in it's flailings. * Zoya picks up the glass and sniffs once before slugging it back like a sailor. She coughs once before turning back to Jelarthna. <Jelarthna> ::looks at Michelle:: And no, this wasn't my fault, because I got there *after* the fire started! ::grins:: * Michelle sips her tea and half-heartedly replies, "I didn't say a word." <Jelarthna> ::smiles up at Marta:: They are very nasty creatures. I was able to gather my wits and kill it, though. <Jelarthna> ::grins at Michelle again:: * Lion grimaces, coughs, and takes another sip of water. * Michelle ignores Jel and sips her tea. <Jelarthna> The one I ran into did manage to score my leg. Fortunately, my armor stopped it from getting it's claws into my back. <Jelarthna> We spent some time putting out the fire. It didn't spread to far, but that oil splattered all over that room. * Jelarthna shakes his head and drinks some tea. * Lion finishes his water and pushes it across the bar. He fishes around in his pouch and pulls out a small, paper packet. <Zoya> ::watches Jel, sternly waiting:: <Lion> ::to Rhys:: Could I get a mug of steaming water, please? ::looking a little ashen:: <Jelarthna> ::looks at Zoya:: What? * Rhys collects Lion's mug. "Anything else? Hot water? Just a moment" In a few moments, Lion has a cup of steaming hot water in front of him. <Lion> ::to Rhys:: Thank you. <Jelarthna> ::looks at Lion in concern:: you don't look so good, Lion, are you okay? * Lion opens the packet and empties it into the glass, revealing a fine white powder that instantly dissolves. * Lisl recovers from a brief coughing fit after inhaling her brandy the wrong way. <Lion> ::to Jel:: As well as I can be. ::waves a dismissive hand:: * Marta sighs and sips her tea. * Lion takes a cautious sip of the steaming concoction then visibly relaxes. * Lisl clears her throat, apologizing to Lion for spluttering on him. <Jelarthna> ::smiles at Marta:: Moon Dancer isn't working you too hard, is he? <Marta> [chuckle] Moon Dancer? Oh, no, not at all. <Marta> ::smiling:: Actually, he's constantly urging me to take breaks. I'm not sure he realizes that I really don't need them. * Lion takes a deeper sip and sighs heavily, then winces and clutches his side. <Lisl> ::shakes her head:: I wish I could offer you healing like Moon Dancer does, my friend, but I'm afraid my skills in that department are only for the very desperate. <Michelle> Lion, what happened to you and if it hurts that much, why haven't you seen a healer? * Lisl smiling slightly. <Jelarthna> ::to Marta:: He can be a big softy like that. I suppose the activity is a nice change of pace. <Jelarthna> ::looks at Lion in concern:: <Marta> ::nodding:: Oh, it's wonderful to be doing something positive again. I think even ghosts may go mad, with no one to talk to. But you know, the taxes you people stand for today are simply ruinous! <Lion> ::waves off Lisl's and Michelle's concern:: It's not serious enough to warrant a healer. Really, I'll be fine. * Zoya blinks somewhat sleepily as a result of the whiskey hitting her system. <Jelarthna> ::chuckles:: It is interesting how quickly things change in human cities. * Lisl putting a hand to Lion's shoulder. "You'll be fine as soon as you accept the help of your friends in this little project of yours. What's been happening of late? * Marta smiles. * Lion frowns. <Marta> That has changed, and the clothing has changed, ::indicating her outmoded dress:: but little else has. Human nature is much the same. * Lisl looks up and nods agreement with Jel. "Aye, always bustle, bustle, bustle." <Lion> ::to Lisl:: Not much, I'm afraid. My informant appears to have been a dead end. ::grimaces:: Correction, a blind alley populated with vicious thugs. <Jelarthna> ::nods:: I'd agree with you if I could figure human nature out... ::grins:: <Lisl> [for the record, Lisl's a half-elf...she looks about 22 in human years] <Michelle> Trust me, human nature is one of the few constants in this or any world. <Lisl> ::grinning:: Well, if anyone's going to get something out of a blind lead, it'd be you, Lion.... * Lion chuckles, then hisses, clutching his side again. <Lion> ::to Lisl, with a weak smile:: Please don't make me laugh. <Jelarthna> ::to Lion:: That sounds like broken ribs. Have you had anyone wrap them? <Lisl> ::tender smile:: Aye, I'll try not. I suppose it's as lucky Erdian's here no longer, or you'd be spilling blood from your guts ere now. * Marta sips her tea. * Lion smiles at Lisl's comment. * Jelarthna looks around the Hall and at Zoya after Lisl's comment. * Zoya smiles. <Lion> ::to Jel:: Aye, ::pulls open his robe slightly to reveal a very professional looking dressing around his lower torso:: Took care of it myself almost immediately after. * Michelle sips her tea. * Lion closes his robe and finishes his drink, grimacing slightly at the taste. <Jelarthna> ::smiles at Lion:: You wrapped your own ribs? Impressive... * Lion shrugs, carefully. <Lisl> ::eyes his bandages critically:: good work. I always recognize the hand of long practice. ::puts a hand to her mouth:: Oops, sorry...I've got to watch that, haven't I? <Lion> I learned the hard way how to look after myself. * Lion raises an eyebrow at Lisl's comment. <Jelarthna> ::nods:: I understand that. Just keep in mind that you don't as much have to now. * Lisl smiles ruefully and shrugs her innocence. <Lion> ::to Jel:: Force of habit, from a creature of habit. <Lisl> Ahhh, he was always stubborn like this, when I knew him before. You should have heard how long it took me to talk him into coming in through the door, instead of sneaking in the window. * Lion smiles at the recollection. <Lisl> ::making a face:: Come to think of it, I never *did* break Lini of that habit... <Jelarthna> ::smiles a little ruefully:: It can be hard to break long habits like that... <Lion> The more so for the close and personal nature of my current undertaking. <Lisl> ::raises her eyebrow at Jel:: Oh, you climb in second story windows, too? <Jelarthna> ::shakes head:: No I did... ::grins:: and do other things. * Michelle sips her tea. <Lisl> ::grins archly:: Oh? DO tell...::leaning forward on her elbows, looking at Jel with a predatory smile:: I love hearing good dirt. * Marta sips her tea. <Jelarthna> ::looks long and thoughtfully at Lion, before looking at Lisl and grinning:: I'm sure there are plenty of others that would be happy to share their stories of me. But somehow I think it would be prudent to not expound on my own faults to a lady. ::bows with a slight grin:: * Lion snorts. <Lisl> ::shakes her head:: Oh, there you go again, calling me a lady. Am I going to have to do something highly unladylike to break you of that habit? <Jelarthna> ::wide grin now:: Probably. <Lisl> ::grinning:: I had to challenge Jaret to a duel, come to think of it... <Lion> The wiser of us took less convincing. ::winks:: <Lisl> Ah, what only the blind can see....::grinning broadly:: <Jelarthna> ::laughs:: I doubt anyone here would accuse me of *that* trait. * Marta looks a trifle dismayed. "But...why would you wish to be thought unladylike? The gentleman only seeks to complement you. <Michelle> [Okay, I thought I was the only one allowed to have arguments with themselves? :) ] <Lisl> ::turns her smile to Marta:: It's safer *off* the pedestal for me. [:P Michelle] * Lisl sips her brandy with a smile. <Lisl> Hmmmm.....maybe I *should* challenge you to a duel, Jel. After all, I feel as though I'm the only one here who's not yet had the pleasure of seeing you fight for your life...::smiling to take the edge off it:: <Zoya> He's injured. You want to see him fighting, I can show you a memory. * Michelle sips her tea. <Jelarthna> If you'd like to spar sometime, I'll be happy to. Right now I'm a bit busy with other things. Perhaps after I'm finished and have healed a bit? <Lisl> Ahhh, good point. ::scratches her head:: I'll just have to think of some other way to disgrace myself...hmm. <Jelarthna> ::looks at Zoya:: A memory? You mean using an illusion? That would be neat, actually. <Zoya> ::shrugs, and glances at Rhys:: If I may..? <Rhys> ::nods to Zoya:: <Michelle> Um...Actually, which fight are you going to show? <Jelarthna> ::grins:: Interesting question. Although I suppose if we wait long enough, I'll be fighting for my life again... <Lisl> ::nods to herself, losing her smile for a moment:: Then again...perhaps I should know you a bit better before we spar... * Zoya mutters under her breath and begins gesturing with one hand. A thin spray of brandy sprays up from Lisl's cup and hangs in the air. In the fan of droplets, and image begins to form... * Marta sips her tea. * Lisl carefully sets her glass down and leans back to watch. <Zoya> ::Jelarthna seems to be doing battle with.. a demon? No, two demons - no. Many. Though he is using only one arm, his blade is moving faster than the eye can follow, and he seems to dance more than dodge their vicious attacks. Several of them fall to his deadly grace before the illusion fades and the brandy droplets rain back into Lisl's mug:: * Michelle sighs gratefully and sips her tea. * Lisl watches the play of figures in the mist, her eyes narrowed as she studies the tiny images. As the droplets rain down, her gaze slides from Jel to Zoya. <Zoya> Yes? <Lisl> Marvelous control, Zoya...I never quite realized what one could accomplish with wi-- chaos magic. <Jelarthna> ::looks up as the image fades:: Ugh. Sloppy. I saw at least a dozen openings there. ::to Lisl:: I was a bit out of control in that fight. <Jelarthna> ::to Zoya:: Fantastic detail, though! <Lion> ::to Rhys:: Can I get another glass of cold water, please? <Rhys> Of course, Lion. ::pours a mug full of cold water for Lion and hands it to him:: * Zoya stands and sweeps into a deep bow toward Lisl. "Thank you." <Lisl> ::nods, not attempting to disagree out of false politeness:: Aye, but a good fight, nonetheless. <Zoya> ::to Jel:: Well, it's as I remember it. There may have been moves you made that I didn't pick up on, you know. <Lion> Thank you. ::takes a deep sip:: <Jelarthna> ::to Zoya:: No, you're memory from then is probably better than mine. <Zoya> ::smiles somewhat secretively:: Up to a point. <Jelarthna> ::returns the smile:: * Michelle sips her tea. <Lisl> ::raises an eyebrow at Zoya:: To a point? ::turning to Jel:: Where those the demons you mentioned last week? <Zoya> ::blinks innocently at Lisl:: Yes, to a point. After a certain point, I remember none of the battle. <Jelarthna> ::nods:: A few of them. I was... not quite in control of myself there. <Lisl> ::chuckles:: Aye, I've had fights like that, a few times, myself...::shooting a look at Lion:: * Lion raises an eyebrow at Lisl but remains silent. * Lisl turns her head back to Lion and gives him a yellow-eyed wink. * Lion starts, as if surprised, but quickly recovers. * Lion raises both eyebrows at Lisl, wonderingly, and scratches his chin. * Lisl widens her eyes at Lion's reaction and then puts her hand to her mouth, covering a small smile. "Whoops...hard to remember now what you *didn't* see in the past... <Jelarthna> ::turns to Marta:: Other than the books, how are you enjoying things here? * Marta looks from Lion to Lisl and back, her brow furrowed in puzzlement. <Marta> ::looking at Jel:: Ah, well enough. It *is* good to be able to be among people again. <Marta> It's just....::biting her lip:: I'm loath to seem forward, but... <Marta> ::puts a hand to her breast:: You've not had any sign of my Yousef, yet, have you? <Jelarthna> I have seen him, yes. * Lisl smiles reassuringly at Marta. <Marta> ::eyes widening in hope and joy:: You've seen him? Is he well? Does he think of me, ever? Please, tell me! ::forgetting herself and catching up Jel's hands in her own:: * Lion sips his water. * Michelle sips her tea. * Jelarthna gently disengages his hand from Marta's * Lisl not to be outdone, Lisl sips her brandy. <Jelarthna> He seems to be doing reasonably well... I'm afraid I haven't really had a chance to talk to him yet. I've only just found where he was. <Marta> ::releases his hands and smiles an embarrassed apology:: <Jelarthna> :smiles reassuringly:: It's okay. <Marta> The he is still in the city? And alive, and hale, yet? ::eyes full of hope:: <Jelarthna> It seems he's still fishing here. Again, I haven't really had a chance to see him yet. I've only heard that he does get by, and I would assume that means he's still healthy. <Marta> Oh, Yousef...::a look of pain crossing her features like a cloud over the sun:: Still a fisherman. We had such hopes together.... <Lisl> ::picks up her glass and moves over to Lion, putting her head down to his:: <Jelarthna> Fishing can be a good life. I've known a couple of fine fishermen that loved their work. <Marta> Aye, it's good and honorable work, and he always was good at it. But it was all he'd known, in the past, and it was a life he wanted to reach beyond, with me... <Marta> ::shaking her head:: That he's not done more tells me that he may be bitter about my lapse.... <Jelarthna> I hope not. I'll try to speak with him soon. Do you want me to try and bring him here? <Marta> ::clenching her hands into fists:: Oh, surely he must know I would never have betrayed his trust...but...::trailing off:: Aye, please, if you can, bring him to me. I will not be able to rest until we've had our meeting at last. <Jelarthna> Is there anything you could have me pass along to him that might draw him here? That only you would know? * Michelle sips her tea, a light coming on in her eyes. <Marta> ::stroking a finger over her lips, pensively:: Something only we two would know? I'd have to think... * Jelarthna idly reaches down and rubs his thigh <Zoya> ::frowns slightly at Jel's injury:: * Jelarthna winces a bit as he does so. <Marta> ::looks up:: The charm... He gave me a charm he'd made...I doubt it's survived the years, but my memory of it does. * Lion sips his water. <Jelarthna> ::looks over a the warehouse:: What does it look like? * Lisl takes another swig of her brandy and speaks to Lion in a low voice. * Lion nods. <Lion> ::to Lisl, in a low voice:: I figured as much. ::smiles slightly:: <Marta> It was a little wooden carp...all jointed, yet in one piece...it was marvelous. But as I said, it's been fifty years... <Jelarthna> ::looks over at Lion and Lisl quizzically for a moment:: * Michelle sips her tea clearly thinking about something. * Lion lifts his head up and looks over at Marta. <Lisl> ::nodding back:: You "saw" enough as it was...it's easy to forget. ::shrugging an apology:: <Jelarthna> It can't hurt to look. <Lion> I could fashion you a new one if the old has moldered away. <Marta> Nay, though....an' it please you, I'd rather not go with you...I spent enough time avoiding the sight of my bones. <Jelarthna> Oh no, I wasn't going to ask that! * Marta smiles warmly...well, warm for a ghost...at Lion. <Jelarthna> I just meant for myself... <Marta> Many thanks...but it was most precious to me for its giver... * Marta nods. <Lion> I understand--but he might appreciate, or at least recognize, the new for _its_ giver. * Michelle rises, "Mind if I go with you Jelarthna?" * Lisl notices Jel's glance and looks back at him, smiling sweetly. <Jelarthna> In the mean time, is there anything you can tell me about the Viscount that you mentioned wanted to marry you? * Marta widens her eyes in understanding. "Ah, I take your meaning, now." <Jelarthna> ::to Michelle:: By all means. <Marta> The Viscount? What do you wish to know? We were not that well acquainted, he and I. ::grimacing:: Such things were left 'til after marriage. <Michelle> Anyone who believes that is a fool. <Jelarthna> ::blinks at Michelle before turning back to Marta:: What sort of man was he? And was there any reason other than your beauty that he wished your hand? <Marta> ::blushing slightly at the implied compliment:: Well, I'm sure my looks would not hurt his aims, but I think he was most interested in my dowry. <Marta> As I said, my father was quite wealthy, though untitled. * Zoya notices the lamplighters out the window and sighs, standing. <Rhys> Last call, gentles. <Zoya> I suppose I should get back to the Tower... If any see Tyl, tell her for me that I've got some results she'll be interested in. <Jelarthna> If you don't mind my asking, what was your dowry? And do you know if his estate was in jeopardy? <Jelarthna> ::nods to Zoya:: I'll be sure to let her know if I see her. * Zoya stretches slowly and waves goodbye to everyone before heading out the door. <Marta> ::shaking her head:: It was large, though not by today's standards. And his estate was not in jeopardy, but titles don't put meat on the table. * Lion stands and stretches. <Jelarthna> ::nods:: I was just curious. I had the chance to visit him, and he had me thrown out as soon as I mentioned you. ::shakes head:: Not a very friendly man. * Lisl downs the last of her brandy, savoring the final sip. * Michelle finishes her tea. <Lion> I think I best be getting home. ::to Marta:: I hope to have a moquette or some such by later in the week, if you would like me to bring it by? <Marta> ::grimacing:: He's very touchy about matters of his own honor, that I recall. And if he had aught to do with my death, I'm nor surprised that you'd have left him right quickly. <Jelarthna> ::soberly:: Take care of yourself, Lion. I don't want to find your body in an alley somewhere, no matter how many you take down with you. * Marta smiles at Lion. "Aye, that would be wonderful! I'll be here." <Lion> ::nods to Jel:: Thanks for the concern, I'm sure I'll be fine. They've at least taught me to tread with more care. * Lisl stands and puts a hand on Lion's arm, leaning forward to whisper once more, a concerned look on her face. <Jelarthna> ::nods to Lion, then to Lisl:: <Rhys> Good night, Lion. Take care. <Jelarthna> ::to Marta:: Well, I thank you for the insight, milady. I think it's time for me to try and find that charm of yours, if it's still there. <Jelarthna> ::takes his cup to the bar and leaves a small pouch as well:: Shall we go, Michelle? * Lion whispers back to Lisl, placing a hand briefly on hers. * Rhys starts collecting empty cups, mugs, and snifters. * Michelle nods to Jel, "Certainly." * Lion nods to Lisl and starts for the door. * Michelle heads out the door. * Lisl smiles and waves to Lion. <Jelarthna> Goodnight, Rhys. <Lisl> ::places her snifter on the bar, and a pair of coins next to it. <Rhys> Good night, Jelarthna. * Jelarthna leaves with Michelle. * Lion tosses a coin back onto the bar and slips out the door. * Rhys sweeps the various coins into the strongbox under the bar. * Lisl smiles and bows at all and sundry with a flourish worthy of Jaret. <Lisl> Good night, all...sleep sweet. * Lisl departs. <Rhys> Good night, Lisl. * Rhys collects the scroll from under the bar and carries it into the office. He locks the front door. "Good night, Marta." * Marta I'll go back to the books for a few hours more, Rhys, unless you'd like help cleaning up? <Marta> good night. ::returns to the office and closes the door:: <Rhys> I can clean things up just fine, thank you. Feel free to take a rest, if you'd like. You've helped out tremendously already. * Rhys begins to clean up the remains of the night's revels. |
