Meghan walked to the edge of the grassy cliff and stopped looking out over the River Starwater. She sighed softly enjoying the peacefulness of being alone. After a few minutes she turned and walked back a bit before sinking down into the grass. She let her thoughts wander as she gazed out over the river. Her fingers idly moved to surround the stone hanging from her neck. It gently warmed at her touch. She looked down into the deep purple, her reflection gazing back at her. After a moment the stone grew cloudy. Meghan held her breath as the clouds swirled within the stone. Then they quickly escaped from the stone and swirled in front of her. They slowed and began to form. After another moment there was a woman sitting across from Meghan. Her form was not solid and every few seconds she shimmered. She smirked at Meghan's look of amazement. She had long golden hair that hung around her shoulders. Her face was oval shaped and her neck long and elegant. Meghan had never seen anyone so beautiful. A wispy laugh came from the woman and she nodded slightly at Meghan. "Yes Meghan I am Sissra," she said her voice a wisp of wind. Meghan's fingers lightly touched the stone and at stayed cold to her touch. Sissra smiled to her. "It will only warm to you if I am inside it," she said softly. Meghan looked back to her. "Why have you..." Her voice trailed of not being sure how to ask the question in her mind. "I thought you needed a bit of a distraction. That and I need you to help me with something." Meghan nodded and she felt herself beginning to relax a bit. Sissra began, "I know that you have been having a tough time of things lately," her gaze softened as she continued. "I knew though when I found you that you had the strength to come through it. Trust in yourself and your strength Meghan. It will take you through anything. I must say I was pleasantly surprised to find your psionic abilities were empathic. I think you will use it well." Meghan looked intensely at Sissra. "You brought me here." Her sentence more of a statement than a question. Sissra nodded. "I knew you would be happier here than you were in your old life. Also I knew they needed you," her hand waving off in the direction of the city. "Neither they nor you realize how much they do need you, but that will come in time." Meghan nodded not being sure how to respond. Sissra smiled at her. "Lets talk about Vallel for a moment." Meghan looked up quickly then let here gaze fall back to the grass. Sissra spoke softly. "Such love is not an easy thing I know. You don't think he is ready for the kind of love you can give him do you?" Meghan shook her head. "No I don't think he is," she replied softly. "You are even more afraid that when he is ready for that love it will not be with you, right?" Meghan nodded a tear slipping from her eye and down her cheek. "I want so much to be the one that makes him happy. To be the one that shares that love with him." Sissra nodded. "All I can tell you Meghan is that one day you'll find that one person. I know you want it to be Vallel, and maybe it will be him. But be sure to keep an open mind. If not you will miss him, whoever he is." Meghan nodded at Sissra taking a deep breath. "I will," she promised. Sissra smiled at her. "Now for my request. There is a castle to the north of here. It will take you about three weeks to travel there. I need you to go there and get a bit of magic for me. It is magic you will soon need. For now that is all I can tell you." Meghan looked curiously at her, and Sissra held up her hand. "I know you have many questions, but for now I just need you to go. Your questions will be answered in time." Meghan nodded at her. "I will, it will be good for me to get away for a while I think." Sissra nodded. "I agree. You need to not go alone though. I think you should ask Kevil to go with you. I trust him and think he will make a good companion for you." Meghan nodded, "I will ask him and see what he says." Sissra smiled at her. "Things will work out Meghan. You'll see. Don't limit yourself to what you know now. Thinks happen in the most unlikely times and spaces." She winked at Meghan as her form began to shimmer once more. "Remember I'm always with you," Her form dissolved into a cloud and disappeared back into the stone. Meghan gently touched it and it warmed gently. She smiled softly and pushed herself up. The afternoon was gone and twilight had descended on the river. Meghan looked out once more before heading back to the city. |
