HM Notes

Vital Statistics

Human
Height:: 7' 0" Weight: : 333 lbs.
Sex: Male Hair / Eye Color: Black / Black

Xarroch's human form is huge, tall and very bulky, but still seeming too small somehow. It's difficult for him to squeeze his large frame down do such a size, and it shows in many subtle ways. His eyes are piercing and a deep, disturbing black, bringing to mind a void rather than the more poetic "window to the soul". His hair is unrelentingly black, untinted by any more softly colored hair. Xarroch tends to walk a little oddly as a human, as if still not entirely used to how his legs work. His voice is very deep and carries quite well when he raises it. His clothes are generally very crude, and sometimes fit a bit too tightly. They are sometimes fastened improperly, though if it is because of unfamiliarity or impatience or some combination of both is a bit unclear. Xarroch leaks a bit of magic while in this form, and those with the ability to sense such things will easily notice that this is not a true form, and although penetrating to the true form underneath is much more difficult undertaking, it is very possible to the skilled.

Demon
Height:: Almost 9' Weight: : Approximately half a ton
Sex: Male Hair / Eye Color: Black / Black

Xarroch's demon (and true) form is very much a classical demon archetype. He towers nearly nine feet tall, and horns about six inches long sprout from the top of his forehead. He is well muscled, with a broad, powerful looking arms and chest tapering to a thinner waist which goes down to strong goat-like legs, slightly hairy and with cloven hooves for feet. He has talons on his fingers that are not very long, and do not appear to be retractable. He has no trouble avoiding scratching things with them, and is clearly used to using them offensively, they've been seen to rend flesh and stone with little trouble. His skin is a dark, deep reddish hue, and his features are actually quite handsome, though exotic. His ears are slightly pointed, but a bit more rounded than an elf's. Xarroch's eyes in his true form are much the same as his human one, though with more of a reddish sheen which is especially noticeable when he's angry. His mouth is full of very sharp teeth, he is clearly primarily a carnivore, and it tends to make even his friendly smiles seem a tad frightening. Xarroch also has leathery wings, with a full wingspan about twice as wide as he is tall. They fold up quite compactly and tightly to his back. His tail is about four feet long, gradually tapering down to the tip. It is not prehensile, but it is quite strong and moves around little. His expression can be very imposing, his anger and directed menace summoning up primal fear-reactions in most intelligent creatures, but tends more towards an impassive look that reveals very little. With his friends, he can be quite jovial and friendly, laughing and chuckling with a disturbingly deep rumble that has been known to rattle windows and furniture.

History / Background:

Xarroch is a demon. Unlike the rest of his kind, he is not only not evil, but good! It is unlikely that even he knows how old he is, but he has spent several centuries as a demon horde leader in the Blood Wars. The Blood Wars is a name for a ongoing battle that rages over the upper layer of several of the outer planes, the primary forces and struggle between the demons (tanar'i) and the creatures of the Hells, devils (baatezu). Beings of all alignments end up here for various reasons... to hire themselves out, to attempt to punish evil, seeking something, or sometimes they just stumble in accidentally. Xarroch has only been clear on one thing, that being his true purpose in the Blood Wars, the one hidden from all other creatures there. He rescued good beings from the ravages of the Blood Wars. Not all were able to accept Xarroch's aid, thinking him evil and the situation trickery, and some of those rescued Xarroch was forced to kill when they could not accept his intentions and tried to kill their savior. But the majority were usually too weak or too stunned to put up any kind of fight, and Xarroch was able to smuggle them away to a safe place eventually.

It was here in the Blood Wars that Xarroch met the bladesinging elf, Jelarthna, saving him and his friends from an accidental appearance in the midst of a battle that Xarroch's demon forces were winning. Xarroch let his forces wear themselves down on the baatezu they fought, and then finished off all of the infernal survivors. Jelarthna managed to persuade his friends of the savior demon's good intentions, and while Xarroch hid them for a while to regain their strength, the two of them became friends.

It was a few years later that Xarroch came to learn that Jelarthna was in dire peril. In his efforts to find the elf (who was slowly succumbing to a supernatural soul eating/corrupting curse, powered by powerful, twisted wild magic and the blessing of the evil deity Cyric), he learned that each and every one of the band that Xarroch had saved with Jelarthna had been hunted and killed. Eventually Xarroch found Jelarthna's whereabouts at the Meadehall, just after the epic battle between several of the patrons and the evil wizard who had instigated the curse on Jelarthna. This first meeting was a very tense one, as Xarroch's arrogance and forcefulness were quite threatening against the protective patrons.

Xarroch's concern and frantic search revealed his true nature to his kind and he became an outcast. Left without a home and hunted by not only old enemies, but literally all of his own kind, he took to baiting the over-eager hunters into traps and destruction. He also began to visit the Meadehall occasionally, slowly making friends and recruiting help in his counter-hunting. Xarroch began to reveal more hidden things about himself to these newfound friends and allies, such as his clerical abilities. He also started to make the pocket plane created by the evil mage that had cursed Jelarthna into a home of his own and started to settle down as the attacks on him seemed to vanish and he grew less certain of his impending doom.

Many things have happened since the demon settled, and he helped save Jelarthna at least two more times, as well as lending his aid and advice from his rather unique perspective on occasion. He still very much enjoys hunting, and has developed a taste for the dangerous mulekick, which reminds him of the blood of an old enemy (though much more volatile). With the passing of time and his separation from the constant strain and struggle of the Blood Wars and others of his own kind, Xarroch has changed (and is changing) in many ways. He has grown very fond and even more protective of his friends, and is forming closer bonds with some of them, notably Meghan, Glossaria, and Nacheyla.

Abilities: Xarroch is clearly quite powerful, his strength is immense, and the full extent of it has not been seen. He is also extremely fast and dextrous, with an acute awareness of his position and those around him. His hide is very tough, and his arsenal of personal weaponry is impressive. He can fly very quickly, and has demonstrated several clerical abilities including healing, poison cures, and potent blessings. He also is fairly adept with gates and planar travel, both through the use of demon magic and inherent abilities. He also has shown some ability to track via magical scrying and has been called upon to use this twice recently. Xarroch's senses are keener than a human's, smell and sight most notably. The true extent of his abilities and power are unknown.. he is clearly adept with demon magic and is familiar with other forms of arcane magic as well.
