Dawn and Dusk are partners, only seldom seen apart even in their private lives. Dawn grew up as a street-rat, and still carries himself with the graceless bravado of a street tough - an image which makes his occasional lapse into thoughtful and intelligent conversation that much more startling. Dusk has more polish, but rarely puts himself forward, preferring to let his partner do the speaking. Dawn is a mage with a focus on transportation, communication, and fire-based spells. He is also an engineer - a superb trapsmith with deadly cunning. If forced into physical combat, he prefers daggers or a short sword, but he much prefers to use magic whenever possible. His shoulder-length blonde hair generally hangs loose, though he keeps it neat and clean. He sometimes goes clean-shaven, but more often wears a close-cropped beard, and he generally dresses in earthy tones of browns and reds. He usually wears a cloak, even in the warmest weather - its interior pockets are where he keeps his spell components and weapons, and rumor has it the cloak itself is magical in nature. Anyone dealing with him in the open will notice almost immediately that his right hand and the lower half of his forearm are badly scarred, as if from a burn. Dusk's magic focuses on illusions - though he isn't a specialist, his illusions have often been praised for their realism and attention to detail. He has a smattering of herbalism, alchemy, and healing; the three combined have made him an expert in the creation and use of poisons. He doesn't have much in the way of combat-offensive spells, but always carries at least a half-dozen poison-tipped darts with him. If he has time to prepare, he also uses a crossbow with specially-designed poison-injecting bolts. He keeps his long dark hair tied back in a tail, and goes clean-shaven. He usually dresses in charcoal black or dark blue, and always wears a vest which contains his weapons and spell components. The two have lived in Marsember since about 1396, when they moved here from Suzail. |
