Vital Statistics

Height:: 6' 6" Weight: : 350 lbs.
Sex: Male Hair / Eye Color: Coarse black / Black

Dagred is a 6'6" tall massive Half-Orc War Priest weighing-in at over 350 pounds. He has coarse black hair, thick, bushy eyebrows, a wide, flat nose (slightly crooked from having been broken), thick lips over yellowish Orcish fanged teeth, a heavy jaw, and enormous neck and shoulder muscles.

He wears scale mail armor that covers his torso and upper arms and has flaps that extend past his waist over the leather pantaloons he wears beneath. His boots are made of heavy leather.

On his side hangs a massive broad sword (peace-tied when required, though it troubles him to no end) and in his belt are tucked two daggers (also peace-tied against his wishes). One of these daggers has a rather elaborate handle.

When expecting battle he adds a chain mesh head covering to his armor that hangs down over his neck to his shoulders.

He carries several small pouches on his belt where he stores his money and small valuables, and has a pack with larger gear that he carries with him when needed or leaves in his room when not needed.

History:

Dagred's Orc father (Brog) took a human female captured in a raid as a bed slave. When she conceived and bore a son, since it was his only son, he took it as his own in spite of it being a 'mongrel'.

Dagred's mother (Mona) managed to survive several years as a slave. Brog was unusually gentle and kind to her (for an Orc to his "cow" at least). Though she would have escaped if the opportunity had ever presented itself, she would not leave her son, in spite of him being half-Orc. Mona always tried to teach Dagred that while he had to learn to be an Orc Warrior to survive amongst his father's kind, that it was not the only way.

Eventually Mona was killed by a different Orc who was displeased that she did not show the proper subservience to him as he passed. Brog in turn killed this Orc for daring to touch one of Brog's "cows", and the matter was settled, at least among the Orcs. Dagred was seven years old at the time (about 10 in Human years).

Dagred's childhood was filled with abuse and mistreatment. As a half-breed in the Orc society he was less than a "true warrior" but not as worthless as a Human. Every day he had to "prove himself" to his peers. This made him quick to anger, cold of emotion, and strong of arm.

Finally, he could take the abuse no longer and ran away from his father's clan at age 12 (about 18 Human years). He wandered the wild lands near his former home for several weeks until a blunder caused him to be almost killed by a wild boar. He managed to slay the beast, but the wound became infected and he grew very ill and delirious.

By chance he stumbled near to a shrine of Tempus, and there was saved by a Human priest and taken to the Temple as an orphan. There he learned to control his temper (somewhat at least) and focus his skills.

After a couple of years in the temple, Dagred heard the voice of Tempus telling him he was to dedicate himself to the Red Knight, the Lady of Strategy. At first Dagred resisted this suggestion. How could an Orc serve a female god, females were inferior, especially in the ways of war!

Nevertheless, he bowed to the will of his god and explored this goddess, the Lady of Strategy, and the more he learned of the Red Knight the more he knew this was his calling. Putting aside the mindless violence of his Orcish upbringing he refined himself, gathering strength from the rule of Law, and garnering victories through planning and strategy.

Finally the goddess told him he should take her message out into the world. He left the Temple and began adventuring across the lands. For a couple of years now he has traveled across Cormyr from north to south and taught the ways of his goddess and the strength of his sword, trying to fit in to Human society in spite of his Orcish childhood and tendencies.

Personality:

Dagred tries to live according to Human standards, but often falls short of the mark. His Orcish temper and rough childhood shaped him early on as a hard person, though the priests tried to teach him the temperance of their gods. He is quick to anger, but shrewd enough to know when to hold his sword and when to draw it.

He despises prejudice because he sees it every day, as many people pre-judge his Orcish features as being an evil brute in spite of his cultured training and intelligence. He himself had to overcome his prejudice against females in accepting the Lady of Strategy, the Red Knight, as his matron goddess.

Powers/Skills/Abilities:

Dagred prefers to fight with a massive broad sword, but is also well trained in hand-to-hand combat (both from life as an abused Orc mongrel and from the Priests at the Temple of Tempus). He is also capable with a crossbow, but prefers to get up close and personal with his sword.

He wears scale-mail armor and a chain-mesh head covering and heavy leather boots.

Dagred's main flaw is his Orcish heritage. He is quick to anger and as quick to be violent. He suffers from bloodlust (so that once engaged in battle and the blood is flowing he doesn't want to stop). He also has difficulties with Human concepts of right and wrong, often doing something Humans would deem 'evil' when to him it seems perfectly acceptable. While not stupid, he does seem a bit slow in his thinking, and more often than not does not consider the full consequences of his actions.

Dagred loves the thrill of battle, and is often overpowered by his bloodlust. He hates prejudice as he is often subjected to it due to his Orcish heritage.
