Characters

The characters are the heart and soul of the Meade Hall. Look at this section to learn who the regular denizens of the Meade Hall are, and to see how to write a Patron post for your own character!

Contacts

We can only put so much information on the Internet. The best way to learn more about the Meade Hall is to join in on one of our weekly sessions. However, if you're not ready to take that step, or if you just want to ask some questions, you need someone to turn to.

Fiction

Writers and aspiring writers, we've got them all. When the regular Hall sessions just aren't enough, the Patrons's players write some short fiction to move their story arcs along. Go read!

The Internet

Traditionally, role-playing games brought groups of friends and parties of adventurers together in one place, where they would interact with each other and go through scenarios created by a Dungeon Master. With the growing popularity of the Internet, it is entirely possible to bring together groups of friends and adventurers from any corner of the globe.

In the Internet section of this site, we tell you how to join in on a session of the Meade Hall, and discuss the technology we use to bring our characters and the city of Marsember to life.

Rules

Advanced Dungeons and Dragons is a role-playing game which relies heavily upon dice-rolling for conflict resolution. On the other hand, the Meade Hall is primarily a free-form, open-ended collective story, and the traditional AD&D rules do not translate well to the Internet.

The Rules section of this site contains more information about the rules that have been brought over from Advanced Dungeons and Dragons, and what rules have been created to adapt the Forgotten Realms world to the Internet.

Search

With the large number of transcripts on the Hall, as well as all the other information that is housed here, sometimes it's hard to find what you're looking for. To that end, we offer you a search page that you can search all of the bounty contained herein, to find that lost treasure.

Setting

The Meade Hall is a tavern located in the city of Marsember. Marsember is a port city in the kingdom of Cormyr, which is set in the Advanced Dungeons and Dragons world of Faerun. Loosely based on TSR's Forgotten Realms world setting, the Meade Hall is open to characters from any genre, and players of any experience level.

The records of what has come before! This stores the transcripts of the last 10 Hall sessions. By Crikey, it's always a-changing!

Writings

Sometimes, a written work doesn't quite qualify as full blown fiction. It's either a shorter work, or serves more to illustrate a Patron's character, than to advance a plot. These sorts of works are found in the Writings section.

Hardware & Software

This site is served by Apache Server on a box which is currently running RedHat Linux.

Most of this site has been written by me, Braswell Brandt. The remaining content has either been submitted by our Patrons, Hallmasters, or has been modified and adapted from a TSR, Inc. Forgotten Realms supplement. Please see the copyright notice at the bottom of every page concerning this material.

Any questions about this site should be directed to me. Any flames or complaints can be tossed, so save yourself the bother of writing a scathing email that will just be ignored, anyway. Money and food should be sent to me.

Oh, and the site uses the Georgia font. Everything looks much spiffer if you install that. Trust me.

The site redesign and move is complete! You're reading it!

Okay, it's not complete. But, it is moved. There's still stuff to do — we need to create banners for the tops of pages and work on some formatting of pages. But for the most part, things are moved and working. All in all, things are good.
